Asus VS248HR 24 inch 1 ms Gaming Monitor, 1920 x 1080, HDMI, DVI, VGA, 250 cd/m2Sold by: Amazon£104.99Condition: New---(UPDATE at the end)---I did quite a bit of research before buying this, comparing other monitors and reading reviews. I was deciding between this monitor and Asus VC239H 23 inch Full HD IPS LCD Monitor (16:9, 80M:1, 250 cd/m2, 1920 x 1080, 5 ms, VGA/HDMI/DVI) . At the end, I decided to buy this "#1 Best Seller in Monitors".And I agree. It's probably the best monitor out there in terms of the specs, price and quality (July 2016). This monitor is absolutely amazing. A 24-inch monitor, 1ms, Full HD 1080p (1920x1080) and supporting each of the different inputs of 1 x D-Sub (VGA)1 x DVI-D 1 x HDMI 1 and a Headphone Out (3.5mm Audio). And all of this for more or less £100! No need to spend ££ more. This has everything you want, including wall mount (VESA Wall Mount Standard (100 x 100 mm). There are instructions on how to remove the stand. I reckon this is a mid to high-range monitor.Two power cords are included. One EU 2pin and one UK 3pin. VGA and DVI cable is included. No HDMI cable is included and I think ASUS should've included this as many would use HDMI nowadays. So I used my own HDMI cable which I had lying around. I would recommend HDMI as it transfers digital/visual data & audio data all in one cable. The DVI cable does the same but HDMI is smaller and has higher quality. The VGA cable would only transfer digital/visual data onto the screen so you would need a separate audio cable if you use VGA.When I used the VGA to see how it is, the monitor was showing my home-screen. When I used my HDMI, it wasn't showing anything. I was a bit worried but then I realised I had to select the input for HDMI. All I had to do was press the input button (next to the power button) twice.I've seen the difference in quality when using a VGA vs. a HDMI cable. Believe me. Use HDMI.Once I got it all set up, the screen was quite bright. But before I decreased the contrast and the brightness (which is so easy to do), I did a LCD DeadPixel Test using [Search on Google]. In my research, I've read that a lot of people were getting dead pixels. I was taking no chance whatsoever. So I did the tests and all pixels were active. So I knew I had no pixel problems.You can toggle through different modes: Standard Mode, Theater Mode, Game Mode, Night View Mode, sRGB and Scenery Mode. - With a press of a button. Changing image (sharpness, aspect control, position, focus, etc.) and colour (saturation, smart view, brightness, contrast, etc.) settings are easy too. However, I didn’t need to change any of these except for the brightness and contrast.Watching videos and going through images: incredible quality. The monitor itself is good quality, including the stand- which was really easy to put on (see pics).The monitor has a 50/60Hz refresh rate and CAN also be tilted. See pic.It's also good to know that the energy rating is A+I've read through the documentations and I noticed ASUS's defect Policy which may be useful for you to know.Warranty service provided if there are at least:"More than 3 bright dots or 5 dark dots from 0 to 36 months"..."A bright dot is a white or sub-pixel that is always on under BLACK pattern. A dark dot is a black or sub-pixel that is always off under patterns excluding black."^So basically, 3 white pixels or 5 black pixels.Also, you may have read that it comes with a 'free' DOOM game. The promotional code is emailed to you after couple of days. This is on offer up until 31st August 2016. I have not and WILL NOT use this as I don’t play those kinds of games AND more importantly, in the Terms and Conditions, it says:"ASUS is eligible to charge you €59.99 as DOOM game key payment if you return the product".So for those who buy the monitor & use the code and then decide to return the monitor after a week or so, you will be charged €59.99 (£51).RECOMMENDATIONS when buying Monitor-Do research. Know what you are buying.-Budget of £100 or so. You can get a GREAT monitor for around £100.-24inch. It's a good size. More than 24inch (i.e. 32inch) would degrade pixel quality when watching something in HD at CLOSE view (which you would do on a desk). For example, a 24inch monitor at 5ft would give the same view as 48inch monitor at 10ft. The only difference is that those pixels have been enlarged on the 48inch. Hence the degrade in pixel quality when viewed at close view.-Full HD (1920 x 1080). Best quality giving best user experience.-Less than 5ms. How fast pixels can change. Lower is better. Reduces the ghosting effect when pixel changes (i.e. in videos). Less than 5 is ideal although I don't think the difference between a 1ms monitor and a 5ms monitor would be much and it’s not something I really looked into.-Around 60Hz. How many times the display refreshes its’ image. Higher is better. This monitor is 50/60Hz (says it at the back of the monitor), which is good for normal use. If you play heavy gaming, look at 100+Hz. It should be ok though. Again, I don’t think the difference would be much and it’s not something I really looked into.-No less than 200 cd/m2. [=Candelas per Square Meter]. It's the measure of brightness of how well the screen will show in brightly lit environments. So it depends- it may be an issue for you or not. E.g. If you have a window giving bright light into the room, drowning out the screen. I have a bright light coming into my room and I have no problems using the monitor.-Avoid glossy screen display. Shadow reflections / glare would be terrible. The bezels around the monitor are not a problem - Hardly notice it at all.-Supports all three inputs: VGA, DVI and HDMI. You would have these ports available in case you need them. Like VGA for a Digital Video Recorder (DVR).-Has some sort of Audio: 3.5mm audio or built in speakers. I would prefer built in speakers but I'' be using external speaker anyways. I don't think the built-in speakers in monitors would be good anyways. So just get a pair of external speakers and in the meantime, use your headphones.-Ability to tilt. If you're tall, you wouldn't want the monitor to face your chest.-Check it's the right size for you. E.g. Would it fit on your desk? (See attached pics for sizes)-Minimum 2 years warranty. This monitor has 3 years with the 1st year being with Amazon (you would have to contact Amazon after 30 days if you need help).-Buy New from "Dispatched and Sold by Amazon". Avoid any other sellers, including sellers that are fulfilled by Amazon. Reduce the chance of getting a defect. It would also be an easy process with Amazon if something was to go wrong.CONS // How it could have been improved...-Higher stand: from the base of the stand to the base of the monitor. It's permanent at 7cm. It's not a problem for me but maybe it could've been customisable (adjust it higher/lower)?-The power and the input ports could've been vertical rather than horizontal (see pic).-Like another reviewer said, the audio port would've been better on the sides rather than on the back. Then it would've been easier to plug and unplug headphone.-External speakers with the audio port would be nice.-When the headphone is plugged in and a sound is played, there is a static noise for around 20seconds, even if the volume is decreased. You can't hear the static noise when something is being played. It goes away after no sound has been played for around 20sec and comes back on after a sound has been played.This is the only main concern.Great product at an incredible price. Packaged well and delivered well on time.100% recommended.Please go through the attached images I have taken. The image of the back of the monitor includes 2 pics from Google and 1 from Amazon.I've tried my very best to be as thorough as possible.-------UPDATE (after 27days)-------The monitor has been great but after using the monitor for couple of weeks, I've noticed a problem. Every so often, a 5cm line (dead pixels) kept appearing on the top left of the screen. (See pic). I've tried various tests (resetting, pixel tests...) to see if it would stop the line from appearing. As it was still there, I returned the defect one and got a replacement within two days. Nevertheless, unexpected things happen sometimes and this is why it's important to buy these kind of items from "Dispatched and Sold by Amazon".- they sorted everything out quickly without any issues.Now with the replacement monitor, everything looks good and I hope all goes well. There are plenty of detailed, more technical reviews already, so I'll just say that, in my opinion, the quality and value of this LCD is superb. Setup is nice & easy too, so any novice user should have no difficulties. It's important to consider the lack of speakers, especially if you plan to use this monitor with a console / via HDMI (in this case, you would need a splitter / cable that allows a separate connection for your speakers).Purchased via Amazon Marketplace. I have watch blueray films on this screen and they look stunning.GAMING: Brilliant response time for gaming. Its great for League of Legends or Overwatch. It's not a 144Hz monitor, but you dont need more than 60Hz unless your a serious fps gamer and you would not expect to buy a 144Hz monitor at this price.COLOURS: If you are a proffessional photographer or graphic designer that requires uber accurate colours in their monitor this probably is not for you. However the range and depth of colours are really nice for the average user.

This is going to be s short but Very sweet review of this monitor.I have had x2 22 inch monitors for years for gaming, they were not 4K, and one died the other one looked haggard worse than my Granma! So it was time to throw my old monitor at my son so he could go from a 19 inch to the old 22 I had,When this monitor arrived, I was blown away by it! the size, the build quality, even the packaging was awesome lol,You dont appreciate how big a TV or monitor is until you get up close to them or pick em up, and this is huge...But how was the quality? Yeah its 4K but what about the menu and the connections ect?

First of all I didn't buy this monitor from Amazon as I found it on special offer elsewhere at a lower price.Second... people have left bad reviews stating no UK power lead was in the box, only a European two pin cable.Well... when I opened the box I thought I'd got the same problem as an EU lead was right there in a side compartment in the packaging. I took everything out of the box except the main large polystyrene section at the very bottom of the box. No UK cable!But!!! A gut feeling told me to take the bottom polystyrene section out, just in case. And on doing that I had a pleasant surprise... a UK three pin power lead!!!This is a very odd practice by Asus.

Bought this after MUCH research and fretting, and after a few months using it, I couldn't be happier with it.I use it for gaming on PS4, Xbox One X and occasionally Switch (I mainly use it in handheld), as well as a second 4k screen for my laptop when working.The 2 HDMI ports make it so much easier for me to just pick up and play (my old tv only had 1 HDMI slot), and games look great on it. Plus I can use the display port to plug in my laptop, which is a general bonus for getting a monitor over a TV (I previously also had to use HDMI and it was a real pain and messed up my display settings every time). The number of inputs/ports mean I don't have to get around the back of it every time I want to swap between devices.ALSO another good thing is it automatically turns itself on,

I bought this monitor as an upgrade for a 21'' HP S2031a monitor that I previously used on my desktop PC. It is full HD capable, having a native and maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080p. It is quite solidly built and a good plus point is that unusually it has the three most common monitor inputs at the rear, these being HDMI, DVI and the older analogue VGA. Connection cables for the DVI and VGA inputs are provided, though an HDMI cable was not. Whilst the image quality was pretty good(I have it connected to an Nvidia Quadro 5000 professional Graphics card), I did find that this monitor produces a slightly overbright and diffuse image that gets slightly fatiguing after a while,

I've owned three of these displays for the best part of 18 months, and on the whole they're really good value for money - especially compared to alternatives. Picture quality is fine and colour rendition is okay too. For gaming in 4K it's probably one of the best options at this price rage, due to its low input delay & HDMI 2.0 ports.The three I've got are mounted on a triple monitor arm via VESA. I'm fairly sure that's what has led my main issue with these screens; all three suffer from relatively bad light bleed along their perimeters. They were okay prior to installing them on the arms - and it took around 2 weeks before I started to notice the light bleeds.If you're planing to set one or more of these displays up on mounts,

I bought this monitor just over a month ago to use for PS4 gameplay.PROS:Cannot fault the picture quality - it's superb for the size and remains good up to a distance of roughly 6ft. Any further than that and you'd struggle to make out any text/detail on the screen.- Easy to unpack and install.CONS:- During the third week a singular very small blue pixel appeared on the top right of the screen. It doesn't effect any gameplay and is only noticeable up close so have let this pass. Apparently ASUS have a manufacturer warranty regarding pixels so if it worsens, or I notice more, I may check this out.- Menu buttons on the underside of the monitor are a little bit user unfriendly.- My main issue with this monitor was that the base was unstable.

This monitor had a couple of dead pixels, but I returned it for another one and this one is perfect.The only issue I have with this monitor is you can not angle it down enough. I have resorted to propping up my monitor stand at the back to compensate.4K is a world apart from 1080p, reading text is like seeing it printed on paper, eye strain is significantly reduced.Hi-res images are fantastic to use for desktop backgrounds!One of the interesting qualities of 4k resolution is there is little or no need for Anti-Aliasing in games.PLAYING GTA V:I lowered the resolution to 2560 x 2160, turned off the Anti-Aliasing and it looked great,

This monitor is just to good to be true...............I've got it working with my X BOX ONE X and my computer...............it works flawlessly with both...The colours are very strong............but remain natural at the same time ......the image quality / graphics have to be seen to be believed.....The response time of 1 m/sec is fantastic when playing Forza 7......There is absolutely no artefacts or ghosting ......the racing experience is the closest I have ever seen...... to photo realistic............It's performance completely belies it's entry level status.......I can't recommend it enough .............at £300..... from Cosco's at the moment.... it is an absolute steal .......Forget HDR...........

I wasn't expecting much from this monitor, at just over £100 I was just hoping for something that worked.I got so much more.The monitor is mounted on a dual arm and it looks nice however the bezel attracts fingerprints but then so does most shiny things, the speakers are horrible and the mount seems like a piece of plastic crap.Out of the box the colours are crazy and the monitor is too bright but after playing with the settings for a bit I got it down to a really nice setting and threw on a few games.Everything looks great and on par with my slightly more expensive 24inch monitor in fact it might even be better.This is perfect for gaming at 1080p and the 1ms response doesnt seem to be a lie (but then I don't know how to test that),

Love the product itself, came with all the things you need to set up in under five minutes. The monitor's menu (to adjust picture) is very easy to navigate and the screen's quality is perfect for anything from movies to gaming, for example I have been playing mostly Overwatch and World Of Warcraft: Legion since I received the monitor and both games look absolutely amazing on it Product got to me (in South West England) very fast.One thing that's sort of annoying but I don't really mind too much is that it didn't come with a free copy of "DOOM" (2016 version) as it was advertised when I had bought it. as I said I don't mind so much but I just want people to know this when they're deciding what to buy,

Well packaged and bundled with both DVI / VGA & power cables.The screen, first impressions it looked washed out & overly bright but later realized that its default settings are setup hot, in that they are deliberately over bright for display against a brightly lit retail/showroom environment. At home your going to need to tweak those settings down a bit. Once you have adjusted the contrast & colour, its preforms very well.I was pleasantly surprised how good it was for the price, with so many variations of monitors I just wanted something good without the expense.I also got the steam code for a doom game, emailed to me via Asus redemption offer.I use this as a bigger display for my gaming laptop and am very happy with it,

Having used this monitor for about a week, and used it for multiple things (gaming, watching videos etc.), this monitor has really impressed me. The quality is fantastic at 4K, and you can run games at lower resolutions and have no problems. The screen is more than bright enough, and the colours are very vibrant for a TN panel. The 28" size makes it a much more immersive experience as well.All the cables you need are provided (HDMI/DP/Power for UK and EU) so no issues there.The OSD controls are very easy to use and the settings very easy to access and modify.Unboxing and assembly is very simple, and you can be up and running within just a few minutes.The only downsides I could pull up are the viewing angles are not brilliant,
