I initially purchased this monitor's D-SUB version by accident, and was very disappointed when it came through my post. It had no VGA cable, and the picture was absolutely rotten. The colours were very poorly balanced, and there was a ridiculous amount of blur around the text and other things. The viewing angle was very strict; you had to be bolted directly in front with your face glued to the screen, or else you wouldn't be able to see anything. Moving the mouse or using the keyboard wobbled the screen. Absolutely putrid, I wasted no time in returning it. If you have any standards for visual quality, please do yourself a favour and avoid this version.Noticing my mistake, however,I purchased the HDMI version instead. What an improvement! The change in input lead made a world of difference. The colours are perfect, the response time is perfect for someone like me who plays lots of games, and the picture is sharp as a needle. The base also seems to be an improvement, offering more stability than the lesser version. It's not perfect though. There's a bit of darkening around the edges of the screen, I found a dead pixel out of the box and there's some kind of dithering effect on fast motion scenes in movies and games. You get what you pay for, but I'd say this HDMI version of this monitor is worth the price. Not perfect, not particularly great if you're a videophile.

So good I bought two. Really.I needed to replace my old screen which seemed to have developed the habit of not turning on, but not being overly obsessed with the latest and greatest monitors I shopped around looking for bang for buck. And here it is. Very well priced at under £100 and made by Acer, therefore of a known standard I hoped. And when I got this I was highly impressed for the money. Quality is excellent and in no way looks any less than monitors costing double the price. Size is what I wanted - big enough to be usable but small enough to not dominate. Most of all though it has an HDMI port. I use an HDMI cable because my computer needs 8m because it's hidden in a cupboard to kill the noise and keep my study looking tidy and HDMI is the best way to get a longer length of run.Unfortunately when using D-Sub and an adapter you lose part of the screen if the monitor is not designed for HDMI so this was an essential.Picture is sharp and fast. Probably not up there with the very latest and greatest but frankly, I think you would be hard pressed to tell any difference. In fact my wife decided that it was so good she wanted a replacement for her computer as well so I ended up buying two of them.Overall a brilliant value for money purchase.

I bought this Asus monitor as I was sick and tired of squinting at a laptop screen, and wanted something larger to save my poor ageing eyes. The monitor is easy to setup (simply attach the screen to the round base), and comes with a serial cable and a DVI cable (as well as two power leads, one with a UK plug on the end, the other with a European plug). Annoyingly, as I wanted to connect to my laptop using an HDMI to HDMI cable, one of these wasn't supplied so I had to buy one separately. So far I've been really impressed with the monitor. The display is bright and flicker-free, and even HD video looks impressive. The refresh-rate is good enough so that even when fast-moving images are displayed, all looks fine. The only niggle is that the monitor doesn't appear to auto-sense if a different input is used. I have a work laptop (which connects via the VGA cable) and a personal laptop (which connects via HDMI). If I switch laptops, then I have to manually select the new input source using the menu (via a button at the bottom of the monitor, next to the power switch), even if the laptop I was using has been disconnected and/or powered down.Other than this minor annoyance, I'm very pleased with the monitor, and can definitely recommend it. Four stars.

This review is for the £102 HDMI version of this monitor.Delivery was fast, item came earlier than expected, which is the usual standard I have come to expect from Amazon. In the box you get:Monitor (obviously)1x UK power lead1x Euro power lead1x VGA cable1x DVi cableInstructions and warranty (both in 400 languages)There is no HDMI lead, which is a shame given that this is the HDMI version. The monitor looks great - lovely gloss finish and slim design. It can be wall mounted if you like. The stand has to be attached and has some tilt angle options.Set up is plug and play. You just have to push the on button and then the source button (depending on what connection you have used)My computer identified 1920x1080 with no set up and made this my new native resolution.Picture quality is sublime.I got this monitor for gaming and the quality here practically had me drooling. Viewing angle is really good with no apparent dead pixels. Bright vibrant colours and deep crisp blacks abound. It's lush. For a £100 monitor I am very impressed. I have a number of Asus products because I know to expect top quality. Would happily buy again.

I don't want to judge too harshly to soon which is why I went 3 star but i am struggling to find a positive to say about the display. I am a computer programmer and bought the for a dual screen setup. I find the text to be very blurry with bleeding around the words and their is a definite quality difference between the screen of my laptop and the Asus monitor.. The monitor overall feels cheap and i guess i should have upped the amount i was willing to spend rather than going for a cheap one. Will see if I can find a way to improve the text and update.--------UPDATE-----------Issue has been resolved and upgraded to review to 5*. The issue i was having seemed to be due to the VGA cable.Changed to a displayport to DVI cable and now i can see what everybody else was saying. Text is crystal clear now. For anybody else who may experience similar problems i recommend this cable http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LUPU76G?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00.

I won't go into the many, many positives of this monitor because other people have before me. However, I will mention that after about 6 months BOTH of the monitors I purchased of the same model (the 21.5 inch variant) have slightly dodgy power inputs whereby they only work when the plug is in at a very specific angle, and will crackle/hiss if the plug is in 'incorrectly'. I rectified this by buying mounts and securely fixing both monitors to my desk, meaning that the plug is never jolted from its precarious position. The monitors have continued to work perfectly fine for 18 months in this state. If you're looking to buy one or more of these monitors I suggest you prepare yourself for the potential cost of a mounting solution and/or a product lifetime that is limited,as despite the fact mine have worked for a couple of years I'm aware they could go at any second with such a dodgy power input.

It's very good. No problems at all. I saw that it was on sale for a reduced price, and needing to replace a recently defunct monitor I read people's reviews, which were generally favourable. So I bought one. I'm perfectly satisfied. I saw that one commenter had trouble with getting the view perfect from every imaginable angle, but as this is never possible with this kind of screen, and as it is easy to get into the way of fussing over small imperfections, I ignored the comment. It's as good as I hoped, which is in fact very good. Because it is bigger than my previous monitor I can get more on the screen than I ever could before, and because my students can see the image on the screen as well as I (regardless of the difference in their viewing angle)I can say that it fulfills all my requirements.

I believe that my monitor is refurbished, but that is fine with me as I believe I got it at a very good price point. I had some problems at first with resolution as I was using my same VGA cable so I will advise, use the one that comes with the monitor! Windows 7 was not recognising the Asus otherwise. However now I'm running smoothly and the clarity is very good. This monitor is great for my everyday use, email, internet browsing and the like but I also appreciate how clear it is and how great the size is when I feel like watching a movie by myself or with friends. I also am a hobbyist in Photoshop and drawing has been a breeze.I really do love the Asus brand and I'm very happy with my purchase.

I bought this monitor for my sons home build mid level pc. I have used the word mid level, but this screen is anything but, the build is fantastic with the screen resolutions and quality exactly as expected. The screen has no trouble with high demands from the graphics card and there is no screen flutter etc. I have been very surprised with this product that this review is actually for the second monitor I have purchased since the one at Christmas. I am now thinking of buying another for next Christmas for my sons dream of tri screen. The price on this screen fluctuates dependent on stock I guess but I would happily pay the higher amount:)

Great monitor! Highly recommend. Using it for a second display for a laptop. Needs a bit of adjustment with the monitor settings to get the brightness/contrast/right, but nothing major. Display looks great for text and photographs, with no blacklight bleed. Originally tried some ~ £80 monitors, none of which worked well, but this was well worth the extra £30. I got the HDMI/VGA/DVI version; using the HDMI output. Haven't tried it for VGA or DVI, or as a sole monitor for a regular desktop computer, but I imagine it would work well.Came with: VGA/DVI cable, power cable. No HDMI cable but I'm using the Amazon basics one and it works great.

I needed a second widescreen monitor so I can have dual monitors. I didn't want to spend too much and wanted to make sure the monitor had HDMI and a DVI connection. I needed something 23 inch wide screen or bigger and found this item for a fairly reasonable price. Overall I am really satisfied with the monitor and would recommend this to anyone that is looking for something relatively cheap and a good monitor. Color/Brightness are great and you can change settings for just working/gaming or watching movies. The monitor looks really nice and matches well with my second monitor. No complaints so far i have had it for about 5 months.

Upgraded from a 19 samsung syncmaster..This moniter is in a different league.Seems twice as big.Much better colour and text.FULL TILT on a very sturdy stand.Easy to assemble just twist base on,, plug in vga...done..Took like 3 mins..Soon as pc recognizes it you will have lots of resolutions to choose from.Looks amazing in 1080p.Lovely menu system with buttons under screen.. No annoying software to use like on my syncmaster.Screen seems huge wouldn't want any bigger. Use for gaming and browsing.Cant seem to find a fault and normally I do with everything i buy....For &80 you cant go wrong.

15.9.2016

The monitor comes incredibly well packaged with multiple connecting sources such as DVA and VGI cables. The picture quality is immense, I may even say that it is the same if not better than the Smart TV in my living room. The only downside is that I didn't realise there are no built in speakers, although this is not a huge hinderance for me as I am using it to dual screen with my laptop, this is a problem if you want to use the monitor for gaming or Apple TV etc. This is simply fixed by connecting the monitor to external speakers. All in all, well worth the price tag.

20.5.2016

Word to the wise- if you order the cheapest model it's only a VGA connector, and if this is for a gaming computer your GPU may not have a VGI port, my (gtx 960 4gb) didn't, so required me to buy a VGA to DVI-I adapter. If this is the case with you, you might be better off with a different monitor (BenQ do some good ones cheap)That aside:+Arrived early, easy to set up+Crisp picture+Good price-Brightness is way to high, you'll need to ajust if you plan on reading text on word/office/excel.
