Bought this to enable my Samsung phone and Samsung Tablet to be able to "screen mirror" onto my - yes you guessed - Samsung smart TV -mainly for throwing photos onto it for when the folks come round, etc. It seems my TV was the last generation of their smart TVs not to have Screen Mirroring built in. And even the megabucks Evolution Kit didn't add this functionality. Really Samsung? No excuse for that - especially given the size of the Evolution Kit "brick" and the comparatively tiny Microsft WDA here. My first attempt was Google Chromecast - the logic being that Samsung phones run Android and Google "own" Android. Complete waste of time and money. Hence trying Microsoft's WDA.It's certainly not perfect - sometimes the TV or at other times the phone/tablet won't recognise it - but it does work more often than not.

Works as described. Only problem as noted in other reviews, the adapter does not come with a main supply, and the cable is very short (designed to plug into projectors/monitors/tv's with a built in usb socket very near by I think). Most people will need to buy a usb extension cable (few £ on amazon) AND if you don't have a tv/projector usb socket, you will need your own usb power adapter. The firmware on my unit was out of date, you need to download an app (search in the Windows 8 app store for Microsoft Wireless display)https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/apps/microsoft-wireless-display-adapter/9wzdncrfjbb1Follow instructions and the app will update the firmware.Overall good for the jobintended if you know the limitations of the cabling.

Bought this tentatively to work primarily with a Linx tablet. I wasn't sure if it would work with that tablet (I did ask Linx support, but they weren't sure). I bit the bullet and bought it anyway, and I am happy to report that it works fine. I have only tried it on a TV so far, not my projector, but I plugged it in and the tablet found it straightaway and ran a PowerPoint presentation. It all went very easily and smoothly. It allows me to go out on the road fully armed to do presentations anywhere with lightweight gear and cable free. I could even present from my phone - although I have not yet tried that option. Easy to carry anywhere, enabling the user to give professional presentations anywhere anytime.

This works despite some negative reviews regarding the item. I found the documentation was not very helpful and certainly not upto date. The workflow instructions are no way clear and no reference to the switch on stick. I think I would have to give it 0 or 1 star based on instructions. But 4 or 5 start for everything else. Maybe Microsoft are relying on customers using Google for help....ironic that. I got this to work with my Toshiba Satelite Radius 12" which has the latest Intel i7 chip. The receiver was a Sony Bravia 37" (Model KDL37EX401U) TV which I purchased from Amazon in 2011 and updated with the latest OS recently.

Very easy to set up and works perfectly with a Samsung S4. It takes about a minute for the device to fire up, switch on "mirroring" from your settings on your smartphone and you are ready to go. The unit will feel hot when you remove it from the ports after use but this has not been an issue. I love using it for displaying my videos, pictures and games on screen. Being able to increase the zoom on pictures from my smartphone to see a larger picture on screen has also proved very useful. For me, it's one of the fastest ways to show multimedia content on any television with a wireless network.

Brilliantly easy, no Wi-Fi Network connection required, only a direct wireless connection between the Adapter and your device, and it's usable by so many devices being a Miracast Standard device. My Surface 2 tablet found it with ease as did my brother's Surface RT, also great with my Nokia Lumia 930 and my sister's Samsung Galaxy phone. All in a brilliant device, far too often overlooked, but this device is amazingly versatile and stable.

Very very impressed that it works well with my Nokia Lumia 930 and Panasonic smart television when connected you have to remain on the same screen you are watching a video clip or film, you may receive message alerts, that will only change your screen if you decide to read your messages but any incoming call automatically switches the screen, you can always go back to your previous screen after the call.

If you need to connect your Surface PRO 3 device or any other enabled Android or Windows to a largeer display be sure this is what you should opt for. Previously I was forced to plug a cable and adaptor for any of my meetings. Now, it's enough to plug the wireless display adapter and here I am with everybody asking how I managed to be connected and show my slides without any cable :)

Worked fine on a lenovo tablet but not on my Toshiba laptop. Almost gave up trying to make it work but finally after many attempts to fix it failed. I removed the graphic driver even though Intel said it was up to date and working fine and put the same version back on and it works really well. That was on and off over 2 days before I succeeded.

Works well and a really useful piece of equipment. Unlike Chromecast and I believe several other similar WiDi adaptors, the MS version does not need to be connected to a wireless network. This makes it ideal for anyone who travels a lot and wants to use this in hotels. Connection and control from Windows 8.1 is straightforward.

Great little thing, pretty much plug and play. Worked flawlessly and immediately with my Windows 10 laptop. Desktop needed upgrading from Windows 7 to work though. No hassle once done though. Couldn't get it working with my Samsung Galaxy S5 though, but not a problem as wasn't really planning on using it with a phone anyway.

7.9.2015

Bit buggy, no sound out either so if your TV or monitor dosen't have output for sound you'll need a HDMI interface that can seperate the sound from HDMI to then plug in to your amp/mixer/receiver device thing. It also has issues with WIFI at times the windows 10 app seems a bit crappy.

Within 20 minutes of opening the package I had tried this out on both my Acer monitor and Samsung smart TV with a Panasonic FZ-M1 Windows 8 tablet, Galaxy Note 4 phone and a Kindle Fire HDX . All worked perfectly with no lag. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The Microsoft display adapter came on time and works very well wirelessly connecting to my TV easily with both screen and audio. I'd strongly recommend updating the firmware when you get it before using otherwise you might be disappointed.

Impressive product. We're using it for business presentations etc., and it works much better than Chromcast for our purposes. It's incredibly easy to connect Microsoft devices and the picture quality and streaming is very good.
