FOUNDATION FOUNDATION FOUNDATION================================A good foundation is essential for flawless-looking skin, but it's almost impossible to get right. There are the shades to consider, powders, creams.Too much and you look like a CLOWN. Too little and you look a little unfinished.FLAWLESS SKIN=============When you see someone with flawless, natural skin they have generally chosen their foundation well.CREAM? STICK? LIQUID? POWDER? TIPS!=================================Which type? Your skin type will tell you what to use.DRY: choose a liquid, stick, or hydrating powder foundation. Liquids and sticks both have a creamy (moisturising) consistency.OILY: use oil-free liquid or powder foundation. They contain powders that absorb oil, leaving you with a matte, smooth finish.COMBINATION: apply a powder foundation strategically.DÉBUTANTES===========Try a powder foundation that's right for your skin type as it's much easier to apply and it disappears into the skin. You're going to find the next easiest is a cream foundation in a compact (which is good for dry complexions). It's absorbed onto the skin like a liquid, but because it's a solid and applied with a sponge, it's easier to manipulate.MATCHING THE SHADE TO YOUR SKIN TONE===================================TIP- match it to your chest. If you test the shade in a shop test it on the back of your hand and then walk outside to see it in normal lighting. It's often worth asking at a department store for a makeover. (loads of them do them outside of Christmas) and they'll get the pigment right. Don't be afraid of mixing shades.APPLICATION TIPS===============Never apply foundation to un-moisturised skin.Application: Fingers? A sponge? A brush? Each have their benefits:FINGERS to apply liquid and cream foundations, because the heat generated helps to warm up the foundation, making it easy to blend.SPONGE if you want a sheer look this is best, but you'll use more foundation as the sponge absorbs too. Lightly press it onto the skin in a blotting motion. (Sweeping equals streaking.)BRUSH is an even application. For liquid foundation: a tapered synthetic brush with a tip about 3 CMs. For powder foundations, use a thick, fluffy brush preferably with natural bristles.OK, WHAT ABOUT THIS ONE?=======================Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation is one of the better foundations I've tried. It's lightweight, has superb coverage and didn't leave me feeling greasy, caked or heavy.SHADE======As I've said above the shades are difficult to choose on-line. I can say that the darker shades are dark and the lighter light. The best advice is to see them in real life or choose a few to experiment with. I've used 3 or 4 of these Rimmel foundations on various people with different skin tones.I really like the consistency and ease of application.DISCLOSURE==========I used to do make up a while ago and have some qualifications but I'm not an "expert" just someone who likes makeup and likes to share their tips.Feel free to post any questions and I'll try to assist.

I have Rimmel match perfection foundation in the shade ‘soft beige’, I’m usually an ivory shade but with summer coming I opted for a shade to suit me whilst tanned (fake or natural haha)First off i want to mention the packaging.. a nice sturdy glass bottle which gives it an expensive, higher end feel and it comes with an added pump plus a lid! So no mess in the makeup draw (HUGE thumbs up for that!) the pump also dispenses the product nicely and evenly meaning no foundation shooting up the walls or on my clothes! The foundation itself has a lovely consistency, its not too thick yet not runny so it sits nicely on my brush without me having to rush to get it to my face!It blends like a dream also, some foundations I’ve tried just move around my face with the brush but match perfection buffs into the skin perfectly. Personal preference - I like to buff it into the skin then bounce a damp blender across my face for added effect. There was NO need for concealer when using match perfection foundation either which is a huge bonus again and saves makeup application time. The coverage is medium but buildable. The skin adapting agents work amazingly to mimic the skin tone, my face looked the right amount of tanned and not orange in the slightest which is something I struggle with usually.I applied my makeup at around 6pm in the evening before going out for a family meal, I did set my tzone area and eyelids with Rimmel match perfection loose powder, and my whole face will in tact still at after midnight when I removed my makeup. Nothing had moved (even my mascara hadn’t gave me ‘panda eyes’ like normally!) and there were NO oily areas coming through. Usually as soon as i get home im itching to remove my makeup but match perfection foundation felt so light on my skin that I didn’t feel like I had to remove it straight away!It doesn’t look ‘cakey’ on the skin either, with its lightweight formula and skin mimicking agents it looks completely natural - like my skin but better. Also another huge bonus for me is that this doesn’t oxidise on the skin! - the colour upon application is a true reflection of the colour the foundation is.All in all this foundation gets a huge thumbs up from me! If I had one issue (and i mean only one!) it would be that more shade choices were available.. but that said with the skin adaptation formula.. just maybe a wider variety of shades for lighter and darker skins.I loved this foundation, I’ve actually gone and bought another bottle for spare and other products from the match perfection range! === OVERVIEW ===Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation - 101 Classic Ivory - 1 fl oz / 30 ml - RRP £7.99The Match Perfection range includes 12 hues. This colour is perfect for me. The liquid foundation is silky in texture, goes on smoothly, blends in perfectly to give a natural look, feels lightweight, looks slightly dewy and leaves my face feeling moisturised. Coverage is light but can be built up with layers to full coverage. Contains a broad spectrum sunscreen. Overall, a winner.=== IN USE ===The foundations is designed to be used with or without moisturiser and contains medium sun protection (SPF 20). I always apply moisturiser before foundation. To use, dispense by pressing the hygienic pump dispenser then apply to the face. There are various methods - fingers, sponge, brush - and I pump the foundation onto the back of one hand then dab it across my face and neck before smoothing it with a foundation brush. The foundation spreads out easily across my face, blends in perfectly while giving light coverage, leaving my sking feel moisturised. Foundation can be built up in layers for more coverage. The only con is that coverage diminishes during the day unless powder is worn too.The foundation range includes 12 neutral hues, from light to medium, whether your skin has neutral, cool or warm tones. You find the right foundation by choosing three likely candidates with the aid of the Rimmel colour wheel then applying a stripe of each across the jawlind and choosing the one that blends in best.=== PRICE & PACKAGING ===The foundation comes in a clear glass bottle with a royal blue plastic pump action dispenser protected by a royal blue plastic cap. The ingredients are printed on the bottle in tiny navy blue writing you'd need a magnifying glass to read. RRP £7.99 for 1 fl oz / 30 ml.=== PRODUCT CLAIMS AND INGREDIENTS ===There's a long list of ingredients on the bottle, but they're too small for me to read or to check what's in the product to see if I'm sensitive to any of them or to see if they claims made are backed up by the ingredients. Rimmel makes the following claims for the foundation:- Invisible, mistake-proof foundation for visibly perfected and healthier-looking skin- Pore-Blurring technology diminishes the appearance of imperfections, pores and dark circles- Weightless, smooth texture blends with skin's real tone instead of masking it- 24 HR Moisturising Complex and Vitamin E leaves skin feeling soft and hydrated- SPF 20 (that's medium protection from the sun).

Basically, the best foundation I have ever found for my super pale dry skin, great texture, coverage and finish, but don't be put off by its dark pallor if testing it on your arm/hand, it really does match my ghostly tones perfectly and looked too pale on my slightly darker mother.UPDATE: I have only just had to repurchase a new bottle 5 months after starting this one with basically daily use of one pump if that helps with how long it lasts- 2 pumps would last about 8-10 weeks..On dispensing from the pump it feels like a much more expensive foundation, and although it is clearly loaded with silicones from the texture, they did not irritate my skin at all. I was a bit put off by how orange it was against my palm, but smoothed into my face it disappeared and looked like my skin but without the imperfections. It blends beautifully compared to the product I've been using the last year and is seamless against my jawline, so I could use this in targeted application not just full face. It claims medium coverage but I had full coverage of red patches on my eyelids so I'm impressed.Wearing it is pleasant as it feels hydrating and weightless, my skin didn't feel tight or caked at any point during the day and it lasted a good 8 hours before I could see the red patches peeping through which is excellent. The finish is dewy which for those who like matte will require powder, but to me it gave the impression of my skin, just better and left a 'glow' that many add highlighting and strobing products to achieve with matte foundations.I've struggled to find the right foundation for years due to the very pale colouring of my skin and exacerbated by the fact that most 'pale' foundations in the past have been warm or yellow toned whilst I am cool toned with English Rose pinks. Most 'palest' foundations in the past have made me look jaundiced or like I'd been slapped with a bag of wotsits and I've bought from the cheapest to luxury designer brands,Rimmel Match foundation in Light Porcelain is quite literally amazing and I really cannot believe this is good old Rimmel the brand I had previously relegated to catering for younger teens and loyalists. This and the Only One lipstick has completely reframed my perception of the brandOverall HANDS DOWN the best foundation I have ever used and I will be buying this until Rimmel breaks my heart by discontinuing!

Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in TRUE IVORYThis make-up does not come in any packaging from the manufacturer, other than the dispensing bottle that contains the make-up. Therefore the customer does not have any extra information concerning the contents. There is a label stuck on to the bottle, BUT, whatever is written is sooooooooooo miniscule that I could not read it, and I also couldn’t see that it was in English. So should a prospective purchaser have any allergies and need to check out the ingredients of this make-up, they will I think have a problem. The make up is in a well weighted glass bottle with a tab sealed cap that has a smooth but snug fit. The make-up is dispensed via a pump action top, which I advise to press gently, otherwise it tends to shoot out too much. The foundation is a pale colour and TRUE IVORY is the perfect description. I don’t have much colour anyway, and now that I am in my later years, prefer not to look overly 'made up', so it suits me well. The make-up has a nice creamy consistency and is easy to smooth over your face. My skin felt very comfortable and not at all dry and I found that not much of it was needed, and will therefore be economical. The effect was natural and not at all shiny, but neither was it a dried up totally matte appearance. It lasted well considering the afternoon was spent walking the dogs out on a high ground common, in slight drizzle and high winds!!The rrp is very, very good and in my opinion value for money from a well known and long standing name in the cosmetic industry. It also has the all important SPF 20.The only reason I am deducting 1 star is down to the lack of product information that is missing and the unreadable label on the bottle.UPDATE - Having now used this Foundation several more times, I am finding that in my opinion, it would not be suitable for anyone with a tendency to dry skin. As the day has gone on, in particular when being indoors, my face began to feel too dry when wearing this make-up.

I have been trying this foundation for a couple of weeks now and have been impressed enough with this that I will definitely continue using this as my everyday foundation. It is a lighter coverage foundation and doesn't feel cakey on the skin throughout the day. It applies evenly and is easy to blend on the skin without having to use a lot of product. I did find it easier to apply with a beauty sponge, as when I applied it with a brush it did leave brush stroke marks on my face no matter how much I buffed with the brush and ended up going over with a beauty sponge after applying with a brush to prevent this. The pump on the bottle makes it easy to dispense the foundation and found 1 and a half pumps was enough to cover my face,so the bottle will last quite some time. The foundation lasts pretty well through the day, I have been wearing it for work and between getting ready and getting home is 10 hours, in this time I have noticed in the slightly oily areas of my face (My t zone) the foundation does seem to wear away a bit. So I do need to reapply in my t zone part way through the day, however other than that I do not need to retouch the rest of my face and it is easy just to reapply in small areas without having to redo my whole face as the foundation does blend really well. Overall I've been impressed with this foundation I'd say it is a good foundation for someone who wants a light coverage that lasts and is easy to apply. I personally have slightly oily skin in my t zone but other than that my skin is normal so I can only give my opinion on these skin types. For normal skin the foundation applies evenly and does stay through the day. And for oily skin it again applies evenly, but does need a reapplication if wearing all day. 'Soft Beige' and its equivalents is the shade that always seems to be sold out when I'm looking for foundation in stores. It's a mid-toned shade that suits a wide range of complexions.I wear foundation very rarely usually, but as I get older more minor imperfections are appearing and I'm accepting that eventually I will want to cover them to maintain a decent complexion. This product is absolutely ideal. I'm lucky in that large pores have never been a problem, but this foundation features 'pore blurring effect' for those that have that issue. This is really lovely to apply - I double checked the price as it has the silky, velvety feel of a far more expensive product. It has a light, moisturising but not greasy texture and went on beautifully over my usual moisturiser. If you are wanting to use up a moisturiser that doesn't have SPF, this foundation is ideal, as it has an SPF of 20.It doesn't have the feel of a heavy product though, as some products containing SPF do. The instructions recommend 'building layers', but one dab on each of the five 'foundation points' of my face worked fine and the foundation seamlessly blended. It didn't emphasise any of my fine lines around my mouth and the appearance of a couple of minor broken veins was diminished.Rimmel describe the product as 'weightless'; I do wish beauty product companies wouldn't do this. It's a scientific impossibility, a quantity of product has to have mass. That minor quibble aside, Match Perfection does feel incredibly light on the skin.Pleasant to apply, pleasant to wear, good coverage and SPF to boot, this really does tick all the boxes. Definitely recommended.

I’ve just come back from a holiday abroad where I knew I’d have slight colour to my skin, i’d be competing to keep my skin hydrated and also vitally have that additional sun protection without having to slap on a few products to do so. Firstly I love the smell of this product. I’ve found a few Rimmel products to have an almost zesty orange smell and this one also does not disappoint. Unlike other products that have left flakes across my t-zone this does exactly what it says on the tin and keeps my skin looking smooth and hydrated. I’ve tried application with a sponge and also with a brush or fingertips and I reach the desired application look from any which way I apply it.The only reason for not getting that 5th star? I had to apply 2-3 layers to get coverage where I needed it most. I’m susceptible to blemishes and dark spot areas that this didn’t quite cover. Once I’d layered it looked beautiful and got the Dewey effect I love but would prefer the feeling of not being too “caked” on. As for the colour match, I knew my current situation would really test this product and as I’ve watched my skin tone even out again post holiday, it is picking out the right pigments in my skin to not leave me looking orange. I didn’t manage to get my normal colOur to test but I knew this darker shade would suit whilst I am bronzed. Going away in 4 weeks time again exposed to the sun so I’m actually looking forward to testing this whilst away and not when I return from my holiday. I am reviewing - Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation, Light Nude, here are my thoughts:^^ With an extensive palette of 12 shades, I was not sure which one to go for, when choosing over the Internet it's hard to tell what each colour looks like. So plumped for light nude as I normally have lighter shades like ivory an porcelain, but I thought I'd try something different and go for another colour for a change.^^ Looks good on. I think this may be partly down to the pore blurring effect, which I am finding in more beauty products these days.^^ I did not have the Rimmel London Fix & Perfect Primer to act as a base to smooth skin and prolong foundation wear, however, I found it lasted a long while anyway, without it. Imagine how long-lasting it would be with the primer, too.^^ This includes an SPF factor of 20, which I love- because I can never out without this kind of protection and always look for an SPF rating in foundation.Overall:I am impressed with this Rimmel London Match Perfection Foundation in Light Nude. I was expecting it to be very feint with no colour at all, so it was what I would call natural - with no makeup on look. However, it was in fact a little darker than this - just enough to give me colour without a sudden orange tan, and not too little to allow my own pale(positively ill looking) skin to shine through. So for me, this colour was a great improvement and it lasted very well without feeling caked on! I will definitely be buying more of this foundation and shade.

Perfect!I have extremely snowy white skin and for me I find it so hard to find a foundation. Ivory is several shades too dark for me in every other brand, but when I came across this one it's several shades lighter than Ivory.I have moderately dry skin on my face and it looks a little flaky at times but this definitely sorts all of that out. As a liquid it's perfect for my normal-dry combination skin. It isn't oily at all, it has a beautifully smooth coverage and it doesn't stink of chemicals or all floral like most other ones do. It's easy to apply with fingers or with a brush and I have had my pot since last May/June and it's still very full (7-8 months later)you get a lot for your money. It works amazingly well with the True Matte Maybelline powder (the only one I can find powder pale enough to match it) and sets like beautiful dolls skin without looking heavy or caky. Most people don't believe I've actually got foundation or powder on! they think it's my real skin! all of us very pale ladies know we can't go without our foundation as otherwise it'll show up every vein, mark, scar or blemish. This covers them perfectly, it does not come off or fade and is easy to remove with wipes.I highly recommend this product, I can't say much for the other colours as I can't use them but I am sure they work really well, but for all of the Snow White's out there, this is the foundation you MUST try!

When I was a teenager, more years ago than I care to admit to, Rimmel was a cheap, readily affordable product that we used. Posh stuff was not for us and at that stage experimenting with make up was fun and buying Rimmel meant we could do so. I have not used this company's products for years, probably because I still regarded it as cheap and cheerful and as one gets older you tend to try more expensive stuff suited to the stage of your skin.I have reviewed expensive cosmetics on Amazon, mainly face creams promising you will be beautiful overnight blah blah and have found in the end that most ingredients in these products are the same and you are really paying for the name and the packaging. So when I was offered a Rimmel Foundation for review I had no hesitation in asking for it.I have a pretty dry skin so always have to make sure that I use moisturiser before applying any foundation and found that this slipped on very smoothly. It has good coverage, slightly thicker than I was expecting so use sparingly at first until you know how much you need. I was sent the soft beige for testing and as I am fair skinned was probably a little darker than I would have chosen. However, by blending carefully it was fine. Stayed on all day, I always use a matte powder on top of foundation, and I was very pleased with it. I shall now keep an eye out once more for Rimmel products.

I have very pale skin, and this 'ivory' foundation is too dark for my complexion, it's a little bit too beige and doesn't match my pasty face at all. The colour description, 'ivory', is a bit misleading as it suggests the palest possible skin tone and this product certainly isn't a match for very pale skin. However, I do like it as I find it works well as a concealer for dark undereyes. I have quite dark bags under my eyes at the moment, and the shade of this covered the dark patches and blended seamlessly with my pale face. The unusual applicator makes it easy to use as a concealer, with a cap that you twist to release the product through the spongey tip,so you can dab on as much or as little as you need and then blend it in with your fingertip. The actual product itself is really good, with nice, easy to use packaging, and it's a smooth lotion which blends into skin without streaks, and dries perfectly without flaking or cracking. My only misgiving is colour matching. If you're buying for the first time, I'd strongly recommend buying in-store where testers are available, to ensure that you really are getting the right colour match. Once you've found the right shade for you, this is an excellent foundation which can also double up as an effective, subtle concealer.
