Konami's answer to FIFA 19 is here, the title returns after 2 excellent previous titles of great quality and with the promise to further polish its gameplayHowever this year they faced a challenge, having now lost the rights to the Champions and Europa League to EA, how would they try to make up for this?Well on the pitch PES plays as crisp and realistically as always but with a few minor changes, Players no longer run out of energy as quick as they did in PES 18 and like its rival FIFA they have added a quick substitution option so you can make subs without having to pause the game. However defenders on the game can sometimes be a bit dumb still and track back up the pitch far to much but itcan easily be counteracted with a few tactical changes if you find it's a issue for you.At the level of game modes, we will not find an excessive change in the classical formula, only that of course Champions League Mode is now gone, myClub yes that has been redefined to a certain extent This time the roulette that assigned us a bronze, silver, gold or black ball has been eliminated, and an animation of the country of the player will be skipped directly to us and they will present us to our new signing. Also the arrival of the players of the week , which give the starting signal to the special cards. The system is still as cumbersome as in previous occasions, not being able to buy envelopes of players and having to resort to potluck, however they do appear a lot more generous....Perhaps to generous with the players you can win in there special agent offers where you can eventually fill your team with top rated players in no time The bad part is that you can not buy with the game currency, you have to use the Gold Coins. Plus this might become frustrating online against teams who have loads of 98 or 99 rated strikers, it's a welcome improvement but perhaps a little to far.To all this we must add the arrival of new Legends, those classic players who on this occasion welcome Beckham *A poorly rated one though from the MLS* and Romario exclusively by accompanying some legends such as Nedved, Roberto Carlos, Maradona, Gullit, Cruyff or Ronaldinho.Regarding licenses, PES 2019 "is the Pro Evolution Soccer with the most licenses in history" . This is not false, but there quality is nothing exciting, unless you're a big fan of the Turkish and Russian Leagues of course so it has not been a big blow on the table to compensate for the loss of the Champions League. Not that Konami made the most of it anyway. However, no truly important new has arrived , having to settle for a mixture of European countries such as Portugal, Russia, Belgium, Scotland, Switzerland, Holland, Turkey or France.(Perhaps the latter is the most relevant). Nothing of the trio of big European leagues: Spain, United Kingdom or Italy. To try to alleviate this lack, it continues to present special agreements with certain clubs such as Barça, Atlético de Madrid, Arsenal or Liverpool. But thanks to dedicated websites which allow you to easily edit the teams, this won't be too much of a issue, but all in all it is a excellent title worth buying, and in my opinion still beats FIFA 19 for realism

To put this short I am no massive football enthusiast by any stretch, I am one of those football game players that likes to play kick off or start Master League as a team then slowly build on that team winning the league through a season. When I first started to play football games on the new systems I was impressed but over the last couple of years the FIFA franchise has become very dry and with ultimate team being the main focus I lost all interest in football games altogether.I wanted something more real, a football game that flows and mechanically plays well but looks real.Since playing FIFA 2011 this is the first football game I have played where I have been blown away by its overall mechanics to actually play, look and feel like ACTUAL football.I was blown away by its realism and how tactically sound you could be with your passes. The general flow of the game and the ball physics boy don't get me started. When you hit a thunderous ball in to the back of the net you really feel the power behind the football and it feels so so good.Oh and this is the part where your probably thinking, "oh but Alex the game is missing all of the licensing". Well you would be right, but... There's a little website call PES UNIVERSE where you can sign up for all the real kits then download it on to a USB stick then transfer them to your PS4 save file and BOOM, you have all the real kits in glorious HD.Honestly I really can't say more about this game as like I said I'm no massive football player seeking all the updates in all of the online and offline modes and don't get me wrong I love football but if your looking for the best football game in the last 5 years and want to play against your mates or on your own I cannot recommend this more.Best football game in years you won't be disappointed.

I've owned almost every single FIFA game since the Sega Mega Drives days in the early 90s and ive got to say that over the last 3/4 years they haven't improved at all but got steadily worse. Pes on the other hand have created the most authentic experience of what its actually like on a football pitch. The playing movements, shooting, crossing, tackling and just the way the entire game feels on a football pitch is the closest to realistic that ive ever experienced! I can only imagine what it must look like on the Xbox one X and a 4k Tv but that is a year or 2 away for me.If you can overlook that fact that the Premier League, La Liga and the Italian league are unlicenced apart from Arsenal,Liverpool, Barcelona, Juventus and the Milan teams then this really is the game for you. Fifa 19 seems like a trip to the science museum and looking at the games and technology of yesteryear in comparison to this realistic recreation of the beautiful game. You can of course edit all the teams and Kit colours to make it look more realistic but there really isn't any need. Unfortunately Microsoft don't allow you to down load the option files to fully licence it yourself which is something you can do on PS4. However all the players names are the same and the way they look and even run is so realistic is blows fifa out of the water! The only reason for deducting 1 star is due to the regular 2-3 minute wait when it comes to playing an online game. This can be frustrating when all you want to do is play a quick game but that aside..... theres not a snowballs chance in hell ill be purchasing a fifa game in the foreseeable future!FIFA..... leave the back door locked tonight, I'm not coming home!

The gameplay is brilliant, no other football game has come this close to replicating the moves and goals you would see in a real football match. The animations enhance the realism and I often watch the instant replays to admire the graphics on show and the impressive ball physics. Gameplay is fluid and you genuinely feel anything can happen in a match like the old days of PES. The PES fan community do a great job of uploading authentic looking kits for Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga teams etc and it’s easy to download the option file and import on your PS4. So lack of licenses is becoming less of an issue. The main weaknesses in this years edition are a lack of variation in AI attacking when playing the CPU,they tend to construct most of their attacks on the wings and love a low cross. They also hardly ever shoot outside of the box. I hope they will patch this soon. And I find the Top Player difficulty produces better gameplay than Superstar as the CPU scripting is so much more apparent when playing on Superstar, a similar issue in last years game.Commentary is still so stale, so I just turn it off now. Would have liked to see new player faces though guess there will be more in the next data pack release. Only a few players, Salah/Martial etc have had face updates but most faces are the same as last year.Graphically this is the best PES that’s been released. Pitches actually look real finally and in HDR the shadows on the pitch look really impressive. All in all then, love this game especially when playing on Top Player. After a week of playing this game, already scored some magical goals and the gameplay is so realistic. Finally the King is back

I read multiple reviews and viewed all the YouTube stuff before buying. What I can say is this is an excellent football simulation with fantastic gameplay and a realistic experience. I bought FIFA last year and I must say that the two games are miles apart when it comes to playability. I lost count the amount of times playing fifa and being frustrated by the scripted nature of the games and the poor AI. PES is not perfect by any means but is a giant leap on the polished turd that is FIFA. The best way to describe PES gameplay is it is organic, spontaneous and unpredictable. In short it is just like real football with crunching challenges, ricochets, physicality and the capacity for beautiful attaching moves,BUT you need to work to craft these plays. It is the thinking mans football game that requires the player to have a strategic approach for each game, each attack, each defensive play. I have been playing a few weeks and I love it. The point about licensing is not relevant because within 10 minutes you can download all kits and badges online and upload them to your game. The only drawback is the presentation compared to FIFAs immersive match day experience. That said, the FIFA novelty soon wears off.

What a refreshing change from FIFA. Matches that are totally unique with chances and goals that are different every time, and simply feel like real football. The pace of the game is spot on, adding to the realistic feel. I for one don’t find the commentary too bad, certainly no worse than FIFA, and the lack of licences becomes of less and less significance as you play more and just appreciate the quality of the game itself. In a perfect world we’d have a game that plays like PES with all FIFA’s gloss, but in the absence of that I’ll be enjoying this and not missing the robotic, one dimensional game that FIFA provides - a game where every goal tends to look and feel the same, reducing the sense of acheivement.I’ve been playing football video games since time began, and I’ve not had so much fun since the original Sensible Soccer or International Soccer on the C64. If gameplay really matters to you, give this a try.

It doesn’t have the licenses,it doesn’t have the slick presentation,it doesn’t have the feature rich game modes that it’s richer rival does. It doesn’t even have the Champions League anymore. What it does have is incredible gameplay. It really is exceptional, mimics so much of real football and truly you have to think as you play, The balance between defence and attack is spot on,goalkeepers now play to their true ability, every individual player is unique and in so many cases so like the real life player. It’s fun,it’s challenging,it’s the best football sim for years and years. I play both Pes and FIFA. But,if you want a true football sim I don’t think FIFA will come close.Fifa wins hands down on presentation, variety, the glitz and the glamour. But,seriously, play this for a bit, have a little patience, you will get hooked.

I haven't played Pes since 2013 so the game is very refreshing for me as it feels nothing like Fifa. The biggest thing that I am enjoying is the gameplay I love Tiki taka football and this game does it well. And the balance between attackers and defenders is really perfect as its not so easy for players to beat your defender. And I have not had someone randomly run through my defenders from after I score a goal. If you know what I mean from FIFA. The licenses can be a problem for some people but I'm okay with it. The only reason I'm given 4 star is because I don't give 5 for micro transaction's but I will say that they aren't as bad as FIFA as you gain in game money quicker and you gain money in all modes so you can play master league and gain money for my club. And you get told the odds of what you can get in packs.

They've only gone and done it!I am very much at ease with this iteration of PES, albeit the dreadful commentary (I opt for the French guys)It looks amazing, plays very well and when using the advanced shooting it feels amazing. Lobbing the keeper, heading a cross or smashing the leather from afar and seeing it crash into the crossbar and then ripple the net (great sound accompanying too) is very rewarding indeed, even when you get the aim wrong, most of the time you'll night be bothered just more determined to make it count at the next opportunity. No option to add any music files but tho be fair, I've only deleted 2 tracks and don't seem to mind the remaining ones.Having played the rival title,I can confirm that PES is much better in every aspect.#slick

I haven't enjoyed a football game as much as this since PES on PS2.When considering what Konami are up against with FIFA's domination, I think they've put out a great game. Sure, there are things they can improve upon, but in terms of gameplay, this is the best football game I have played. Things happen in the game that feel as unpredictable as they can be in the real life game and the ball physics are easily the best I've seen in a computer game.I played PES back in its glory days on PS2 and started playing FIFA back in 2010, but the series has seriously lost its way, which brought me back to PES after playing the demo. I hope others will give this game a chance as it is, in my opinion, far,far superior to current iterations of FIFA.

Brilliant game, but unfortunately just another iteration. So it's better than 2018, but very very slightly.Commentary is a useless as ever, for example they comment on how "another title dream is over" half way through the season when you beat the bottom club.If you want great game play, then get this game. Get the downloads elsewhere to make the kits perfect. It does make you wander who's in charge at Konami. It's taken them a year to add very little. They could add new online and offline modes and all sorts of things, but this is why they fall ever further behind FIFA.I'd sack the lot of 'em, then have a game of PES 2019 cos it is good, but come on Konami, do you want to succeed?

I’ve been buying fifa for more than 10 years now, but fifa has recently been more frustrating than fun. Tried the demo of the new PES and the next day ordered the full game and I can tell you now it is the best, most fun and most satisfying football game I’ve played in a very long time. Sure it doesn’t have the presentation of fifa and not as many leagues etc. but what good is the presentation if the gameplay itself is so average. Gameplay and graphics in PES are much better in my opinion. Players movement and realism is also best I’ve seen in ages. And I still haven’t bothered to even try fifa new demo and don’t think I will anytime soon. I really recommend trying this game!

So i tried it. I like to play the game offline and in the hardest level.. its very hard to score, very strong defenders on the opposite side, and very fast too , which is a bit unrealistic, because for example, since when Milan's defender zapata,is faster than mbappe. And even if u manage to get past the defence, goalkeepers make wonder saves. Players get tired very quickly, and make negotiations more simple, and with realistic prices please. Good thing is gameplay is realistic, and because the game is hard, and you can barely score, it makes you wanna play more. Not recommended to people with anger issues, they will break stuff.

Fifa has an all singing, all dancing jam packed with an immense array of features. It has every league and every player. It has an incredible amount of detail for buying and selling players world wide for online gaming. Millions of other users to interact with. Offline expirience is great too, lots of fun envolving transfers and dealing 2ith players. BUT, if you want to play football the experience ends ubruptly. Very poor and not a patch on Pro Evo. For gamers who want the football to matter, look no further than PES. It's game play on the pitch is where it erns its credentials, superb in comparison.

Pes has always been in the shadow on fifa, playing both over the years, I always wished for pes to be better. In the last few years konami have upped their game, bringing us a game which ticks the boxes for gameplay. I enjoy it so much to a point I picked up pes over fifa this year. Yes they don't have all the licenses, random team names.... But if you can see past the muck its a beautiful game. The menus and loading could be better, online is still average but as soon as the whistle blows you kind of forget the issues and enjoy. Hope to play you online...
