Anyone who even has a SLIGHT interest in football should buy a PS2 just for this game. This is better than ANY of the FIFA series and muscles them off the pitch without trouble. The pragmatism and flow of the gameplay resembling real-life football is outstanding. The realism has to be seen to be believed, right down to the ball physics and mechanics of the game; demonstrated in the highly realistic deflections and flight of the ball dependant on when and how it is struck which, breaks down to each players' different attributes, skill, mentality and technique.Konami have done a fantastic job copying players' trademark techniques such as Beckham's ankle twisting approach before taking free kicks and corners through to Henry and Raul's goal celebrations. The depth of the game is immense; PES3 not only requires you to use your head and football knowledge to win but precision, skill and timing. The second you release a defence splitting through pass or drive a 25 yard strike into the opponents top corner requires such concentration that when pulled off successfully, you feel as if you have executed the move on the pitch. The Edit Mode allows players to be edited in almost anyway from their personal stats and attributes to positions, age, favoured foot and overall appearance, which includes make, design and colour of boot. You can also change the teams' stadiums and kits so anyone with footballing knowledge can edit the kits to the ones they represent today. The lifespan of this game is immense with League, Cup and Master League mode, the latter of which you build, train and recruit players creating your own dream team. League and Cup Mode allow you to take any team whether it be national or club and lead them to glory. Training Mode enables beginners to get to grips with the game with training matches and those already familiar to perfect their free kicks, corners and a training challenge programme. Computer intelligence proves a challenge as it has done in the past with 5 star difficulty proving a handful for the veteran.Every match you play earns you PES points, whether you win, lose or draw is irrelevant. A tally of these is kept and as these accumulate, you can "buy" add-on's for the game such as extra hairstyles and shorts for edit mode but best of all, the Free Transfer mode which allows players to be swapped club to club so you can update the club teams as you wish. PES points also allow you to buy teams such as "Classic England" and "Classic Germany" each with past footballing legends the sides had. However, as with every game there are flaws such as inconsistent refereeing and unrealistic and sometimes erratic handballs but hopefully PES4 will have rid of these minor faults. In the meantime, forget about FIFA and get yourself a copy of Pro Evolution Soccer 3; it's the best football simulation... yet!

Firstly may I apologise for the lateness of this review but since unwrapping PES on christmas day every minute of free time I have had has been dedicated to it. This is your only warning: Prepare to lose any social life you may have once had. Unfortunately the strive for Master League perfection prevents you from going out. From then on its all good news. I bought Fifa 2004 after being enticed by its "off the ball" revolution and upon till december 25th i was quite content with it. I also could still check back to PES 2 if i felt like it and i thought that the upgrade to PES 3 would not be necessary. How wrong i was. After five minutes of exhibition '3 star' I realised how depraved I had been over the past three months. The animation was so fluid and for the first time in gaming i felt i was really in complete control. Fifa's movement was made to look wooden. I progressed up to four star and then five but it took weeks of constant attempts with the opposition AI triumphing more often than I desired. Then there was the wealth of opions available after training myself up. I could keep my skills uber-sharp on the training ground. There are lots of cups and leagues and master league never gets boring (i'm in my sixth season and others have probably lasted longer). PES shop has been included so you can spend points you have earned on your travels on classic teams and other unlockables. But its the gameplay which is the star of the show. See someone do something on the football pitch and you can do it on PES...probably. Here are my improvements for PES 4:*Premiership, please with all teams*Sponsors on every kit (also ability on edit kit to edit sponsors)*More Boots, PES3 had Total 90, Supernovas and Predators along with other unofficial boots*Online PlayVery few and far between which should give you a feeling of how good Pes 3 is and now that its on platinum do you want anymore reason to buy it. Got to go Master League is calling me!

This is a well recommended buy! It’s game play is amazing, a true reflection of the beautiful game it’s self. I could harp on about how great this game is, but reviews like these are always best if they tell you the draw backs. I must stress at this point that the draw backs this game has do not take anything away from this games appeal.Draw back 1: The guys that created this game do not fully understand the concept of handball! If the team you are facing handballs in the area it does not result in a penalty to you like it should but, it gives a free kick to the team that handballed. Handball anywhere else on the pitch and it makes the right decision.Draw Back 2: Due to legal reasons not all the players/club names are correct. This can be irritating a little. However, the game has a very good editing option so all these can be corrected (just get online and there are sites that will tell you what should be what).Draw back 3: For some reason a few (in my opinion) poor players such as Rebrov (Ukraine) are actually quite good but the rest of the game is very realistic!See the draw backs are nowt really... The rest of the footy games out there can’t compare it is very good.

To say that pro evolution soccer 3 is the BEST footy game on any console is not hyperbole or exaggeration, it is inescapable fact. From the realistic and fluid player animation right down to the look of utter despair on your goalkeeper's face as he sees a last minute winner fly past him into the top corner, this game has it all.Konami have also thankfully made an effort with player names (if not the team ones which you can edit or buy an update disc for anyway), with only the curiously named Dutch squad (Oranges 1, 2, 3 etc etc) differing greatly from their real life counterparts. The beautifully ingenious yet simple master league returns with more teams, more divisions and a cup tournament that looks suspiciously,in format at least, like the UEFA champions league. When you actually play the game however, such triviality melts away into a sea of console footie loveliness with a learning curve steep enough to have you hugging complete strangers when you finally do score that 30 yard free kick or stick a pile-driver past a stunned opposition goalie. To steal a popular advertising slogan: Pure genius.

I have played this game to death, and guess what??? what i hear you say?? IM STILL NOT SICK OF IT!!!!! i always end up purchasing this game as soon as the next one is out. And why u may wonder, becuase the gameplay/graphics/multiplayer/versatility/stratgies e.t.c e.t.c e.t.c, the list goes on.If u are on of those ppl who wear f.c.u.k shirts and ted baker clothes then maybe fifa by ea might be ure cup of tea, but for the people who like the real thing on a video game and dont mind putting a bit of effort into updating the teams then i dont think u should look any further....BRING ON PES4 heeeeelll yeeaaah.Yours rudely Nabz

This game (i agree with most of you) is fantasticly good, however for those of you that dont think it is too good i see your point. The comentary is still bad and the game still cant spell world class footbal players names. For manchester united it calls it something like trad bricks and for leeds united it calls them Yorkshie.I woulkd still give this game 10 out of 10 and 5 out of 5.

This game is pure class. the play is smooth, skillful and 100% better then the entire Fifa series put together. The names of the players might not be there but the play makes up for it.If u want the best football game on the PS2 go for this.
