I got this game as part of a bundle from my local games store and thus it was the first psp game I played...Although the graphics are notably slower than those on the ps2, the gameplay is still all there... Editing mode was rather a poor effort and does limit a lot of what you can do to the squad, but it more than makes up for this with the multiplayer feature which i will come onto in a second...Whilst there aren't many choices for beginning the game (the main focus being career), the appeal is still there and the game is highly enjoyable... Bar the fact that the referee is extremely strict, games flow with ease (though my copy tended to stutter if more than 12 players were in the picture)...One tiny niggling flaw that slows down the game on occasions is the time it takes for a substitution to be made... It can get rather frustrating after a while but might also work to give you a chance to rethink your tactics...Now, onto the multiplayer... The mainstay of the multiplayer claim of this game is console to console in the same area (if you understand me)... Many a morning was spent playing against my friend at college on a wireless multiplayer which does work remarkably well apart from an occasional jump in graphics... I think one of the biggest appeals for me of multiplayer was the inclusion of a stats page... Every match you play, the score is recorded and your stats are updated so that you get a "Gamer level"... Whilst you can only see your previous 5 results, on the main stats menu you can view your games won, lost, drawn, average win %, average goals scored, average goals conceded... Basically, you can see everything you want to see plus a bit more... The want to improve all of this as well as go up a level made every game all the more tense and exciting (sometimes culminating in at least 10 people crowded round watching)...All in all, if you want a slimmed down version of the ps2 version, this might be a good bet, but only really recommended if you don't want to spend too much on a game... Otherwise, I would recommend you bought PES 6 due to more features, but for cheap laughs, this is a brilliant game...

WOW, I have been waiting for this game for a long, long time. The PES5 designers have all but nailed it this time. Finally they have slowed down the gameplay to reflect the true speed/nature of football, PES4 master league became ridiculously easy (even on level6) when you had pacy front players but now it has all changed. To be honest the change of speed will throw you at the start but be patient, just like real life, practice makes perfect. No longer will the computer controlled Thierry Henry just run straight past you, why? i hear you ask, well due to the brillance of the said designers your defenders can now actually defend.John Terry will now prod the ball away without actually having to slid tackle or if that doesn't work he'll just use his strength and bully Henry off the ball. Master stroke. Distribution from your goalkeeper has also been improved with the overarm throw, which can allow him to throw the ball to your nearest midfielder instead of either rolling it to your tall awkward centre-half or booting it to your tiny forwards. It is now easier to score from free-kicks. Caution: Do not conceed free-kicks around your box, as someone has now taught the computer how to score them too. I once conceeded three in one damn match.Another side to the game is the injuries players receive during games, players can pick up injuries during the game, from a tackle for instance, and he'll carry on playing until the injury is too much for him and then he'll start hobbling or if a player is injured during a fair tackle an act of fair play is called for, i.e. kick the ball out so he can get treatment.I have only listed a few of the many details you get in the game but i am in no doubt that when you play this game you will get the same buzz of excitement I do. Some People find the game hard to play, this is a new game, therefore things you did in PES4 will not always work the same, so fresh start everyone. When you are luck enough to score a Goal, no-one and i mean no-one will begrudge you a lap of honour of your bedroom, i certainly do. Good Luck.

Your first thoughts of this game will be,"This is exactly like the PS2 version", that is what is making this game get so many pre-orders already. The PS2 version of pro evo 4 shows just how football should be recreated onto a games console. The gameplay if truly a work of a art and the graphics are sublime. The only thing people can argue about this game is the fact that some of the teams have unreal names due to the fact that fifa has obtained them. But this problem has been sorted out for Pro Evo 5....mostly.Konami have gained the rights of every premiership side, and loads more european teams yet they still don't have them all.But this is not a problem as you will not be worrying about having the real teams when you start a match.Pro Evolution Soccer 5 has many features with "master league" being the most popular, as you start with a team and try and make them the best and win all the trophies, buy the best players, become the richest side ever etc. But a new feature just for PSP is the fact that you can sort out tactics for the upcoming match and save it at that point(something you can do on the train/bus) and then play the actual match when you get home, just with your tactics saved.Exhibition matches are just simply a quick match against a computer.Wifi matches are yet another reason to buy this game because after you have played your friend the data of that match gets saved to the memory stick, so you have a tally of how many times you have beaten/lost against a friend, and what tactics you used in each match. This game may even challenge GTA:LCS for the best game on PSP this year, only time will tell. But one thing is certain already; this is a definite buy for anyone with a PSP and the slightest bit of interest in football.

I've read good reviews about PE5 and I've come across bad ones, so when it came to purchasing it for myself I was unsure of what to expect having come across so many contradictory reviews. When I first ripped it from the plastic, slid it in and turned it on, I was left puzzled as to whether my PSP was working or not, why... It's the one very VERY major issue that lets PE5 on the PSP down for me... the loading time. It's too bad for words, even little events like subs coming on and off produces an un-easy pause during the match. If like me you use the PSP on train journeys to work or lunch time fun, it is flaw that rears its ugly head to often. But don't get me wrong in terms of game play, the transition from console to the PSP felt totally natural and props should be given to Konami for the control system. Missing the right analogue stick and a couple extra buttons I was wondering how they would port the control system over, but it works seamlessly and provides fluid game play. It's just as intense as it is in the home console and still maintains the realism that is expected of the series unlike a well known title by the name of FIFA. So to buy or not to buy? In my opinion yes it's a definite if you’re looking for a quality football game on the PSP, but as I stated be weary of the time draining loading times. On a final note a couple of familiar modes are missing probably the most important master league, but do not let this deter you. You still have league mode avaiable, although this is no way as in depth as the Master League mode. 4 out of 5 in my books, enjoy.

Pro Evolution Soccer 5 is good but it could be better. The graphics are good but the loading times are Quite long. After playing games like GTA-LCS with superb loading times, Pro Evo 5 should really load far quicker. There is no commentary but that doesn't bother me too much. A wide angle camera mode would have been useful, as you get the feeling of not been able to visibly pick out certain players and end up passing the ball to your apponent, which is frustrating. The gameplay is good for the PSP. The only problem is that the players don't like to go diagnally when using the arrow buttons. Although you can use the analogue stick, this corrects the problem. Like all pro evo's,the gameplay isn't scripted so it makes for a fair and entertaining football match.Unfortunatley there is no Master League and no Cup competitions. Other than the single match and wireless multiplayer modes, there is only the league mode to play. The team names are not licensed but option files can be found on the internet to correct the team names.Wireless multiplayer is fantastic. All your stats are saved so you can see how many games you have won, lost and scored against your mates. This makes the game very competitive. If, like me you have large hands then you will need a 'PSP hand grip' to play this game successfully.Don't be put off by the negative comments because Pro Evolution Soccer 5 is still a good and essential football game to purchase for your PSP. Its significantly better than the awful World Tour Soccer!

If you're expecting your PS2 or Xbox Pro Evo experience to magically transfer itself into your 10-inch PSP then you're going to be disappointed. However, if you're of a more realistic bent then you'll be delighted that you can finally play Pro Evo on the move. When it comes down to it you play Pro Evo for the gameplay rather than the bells and whistles. If you really want them you've got FIFA - and you're welcome to it. You'll be pleased to know that the famous Pro Evo gameplay translates beautifully to the PSP and really that's all that matter because it'll keep you amused for, well, ever. Or at least until Pro Evo 6 comes out anyway. But I'm not giving it 5 stars because it is missing a few things I would have liked to see. Some of them, understandably, have been left off for reasons of capacity limits, but one or two other ommissions are just baffling:- No cup mode. You get exhibition or league - that's it. How else is England going to win the World Cup?- No master league- No commentary- No online infrastructure play (this has GOT to be on Pro Evo 6)But other than that this is a great game and from what I hear clearly the best football game for the PSP so far. No doubt Pro Evo 6 will fill in some of the gaps, but who can wait that long when there's this much fun to be had?

The PSP version of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 will feature the utter realism, intuitive play and fast-paced action of the ever-popular series. The handheld version will also be almost identical in terms of available clubs and international sides, with 57 national sides lining up alongside 136 club teams.Pro Evolution Soccer 5 also benefits from a number of exclusive features designed to showcase the PSP's capabilities. The highly-competitive multi-player aspects of the game are highlighted using the hardware's wireless systems. Using this, players within a certain network radius can challenge rival Pro Evolution Soccer 5 fans to games, with all data related to match results goals for, goals against, wins, etc retained in a running tally.Solo players can also hone their skills within six different leagues and a host of cup tournaments, and the PSP game can also be linked to the PlayStation 2 version of Pro Evolution Soccer 5 for data exchange. Using this, players can import teams they have created within the PlayStation 2 game for use against friends on their PSP, or swap teams with other PSP users.Great game but the PS2 version is better. Its predecesspr Pro Evolution Soccer 4 you can say is better aswell it all depends on what you like.

pro evo 5 on psp has great gameplay but the major reason why i bought the psp was to be able to play master league on the psp version of pro evo 5.and i was also looking forward to playing all the cup comps.I think psp gamers are getting ripped off why couldent konami put the master league and cup comps on the psp version to me i think it was cheaper to have no comps and no master league its lazy. They should have spent more time on it to me they rushed the release of the psp tell me im wrong but thats my opinion.I own pro evo 5 on ps2 and you cant fault it its such a shame the version of pro evo 5 on psp doesnt set the same standards.final wordsthe game is still worth buying you cant beat proevo gameplay 5/5 and just the game it self it looks real.graphics of pro evo 5 on the psp version are excellent same as ps2.hopefully the next version of pro evo on psp has the master league and cup comps we shall see.Hope this helps youAlan

If you are a fan of Pro Evo on PS2 then you're going to be tempted to buy the handheld version. The game is a cut down and slightly more simplified version of the PS2 game. The gameplay is still very similar but on occasions can suffer from slight slowdown when things get hectic on screen. The biggest disappointment for Pro Evo veterans is the lack of a Master League. The option to buy and sell players is missing and the loading times can also be a pain.On the plus side this is a great game to play in your lunch hour or travelling to and from work and the simplified play makes it easier to get into. If you love Pro Evo on PS2, then you'll love this. If you didn't like it,then this isn't going to convert anyone.I'm a fan of the Pro Evo games and despite this versions faults I love it. After all it's Pro Evo in your pocket, how cool is that?

In terms of game play pro evo 5 is far and away the best. They have managed to copy this over to psp very well. Although the change in controls and the upped realism of the game does make it much more difficult. (no more 5-0 on 3 stars).*warning* the psp version is good, but only for single matches. Superb for playing friends but single player gets a bit lacklustre.1. There is no Commentry, it was pretty rubbish aneway, but doesn't feel the same.2. No master league or cup modes, only simple league mode.3.loading times are quite long at times4. Not as smooth as other versionsSo in general, this game is awesome for multiplayer, but for singleplayer get it on one of the other formats.

I have played all the other PES's on the PS2 and loved them, so when i heard that it was arriving on the PSP i was really excited but new that it wasnt going to feature all the aspects of the game form the PS2 on the PSP so i was cautious and not getting too excited incase it was crap. When i bought it i switched it on and never put it down until my PSP battery died(about 4 hours) but it was brilliant, amazing graphics, some licensed teams and players and it suited the psp brilliantly. There's still training and you are able to edit your team and the players accept how they look. Diffently the best football game on the PSP a must have.

I currently own both Pro Evo 5 and Fifa 06 for PSP, when i had my PS2 i was a Fifa fan and i never bought pro evo, but now i have played both i can see that on the PSP pro evo 5 is far better than fifa 06 PSP.The gameplay is excellent far better than fifa, the only problem is the lack of liscenced teams but soon you will be able to buy a update (eBay) that changes all the names to their real ones e.g. Merseyside Red will turn to Liverpool. Another thing is it does not have commentary, but to be honest this is good because the commentary has always been poor on pro evo.

12.4.2006

This is an awesome game on the PSP. The graphics are pretty much identical to the PS2 version but you have the benefit of having a portable version of the best football game around. I don't really miss the Master League and the lack of commentary does not present a problem as this was always a bad feature of the PES game series. This game benefits from having full arsenal and Chelsea teams and it's pretty easy to rename the other premiership clubs. I am glad I purchased this game and did not heed some of the negative reviews from other purchasers.

I believe this game is great great fun, playing with Ac Milan at the moment.....won the serie A by only few points the realism is great n atomsphere.....and i love it when you score a vital or scorching goal n you see the ground jumping up n down going mad!!! execellent.....No commentary is abit of a let down.....and not enough cup tornaments or customize cups or anything!! just league mode! but wicked when i'm on the plane...or at work....or at home in living room and just love the game still even without the negatives

27.10.2005

this game is good i have the japan import winning elevn 9 tweaked with it managed to change it to english all i can say this serious is very good graphics are identical to ps2 if not better gameplay is good exact like ps2 version the only bad thing with the game is that there is no MASTER LEAGUE that is why i ha ve given a 4 star and also psp should have come with the rest of the l2 anr r2 buttons the abilty to curl the shot in the goal is gone but other then that this game is the best will beat fifa 06 hands down
