Pro Evolution Soccer 4 is like a fine wine, it simply gets better with age.Whilst I agree with the initial comment by the previous reviewer (in that having played PES3, PES4 may seem inferior), I would also say that you just have to keep playing this game to see how good it really is.Never has there been a game of fooball simulation where you can actually score real goals. I guarantee you that every goal you have seen scored this season, you can replicate it in this game, it really is THAT good.It comes with the usual challenge of the Master League where your 'Dream Team' is gradually assembled. However now you have the added challenge of not just winning the International Cup etc.now you have to win each domestic league, which is no mean feat! This is done to build up PE Points which can be used to unlock a variety of goodies like Classic Teams, classic players and even new goal celebrations. The game caters for newbies and casual games with an interactive training section which will have you mixing it up with the pros is notime which brings me to another amazing feature of the game- just like real football, anything can happen. I have seen many an established Pro Evo-er destroy another with constant attacks on goal, only to be undone by a lucky counter-attack or penalty decision- just like real football.Even the refs are at it! Penalties are regularly given OUTSIDE the box, decisions constantly given the way of the home team, and scandalous red cards dished out, it all depends on the day, and that's the sheer beauty of Pro Evolution Soccer.Yes, seasoned veterans may take awhile to adjust, but this is one game that you will keep just coming back and coming back to. If you like football, you'll love this game and for 17 quid ?! what you waiting for !!

Ok firstly I'm a FIFA fan but a friend of mine introduced me to Pro Evo & I have to admit that I was impressed. Although it lacks the Licenses that FIFA has the gameplay is much, much better. The graphics are some of the best I've seen in a sports game, players actually look human & from certain angles you could be forgiven for thinking that you are watching a real match on tv. The only down side to the game is, in my opinion, the squad set-up & formation screens. I can deal with the fact that the team & players aren't their real names that's fine but even the positions aren't real for example: SWB is a full back. The positions & formations seem more like that of American football rather than our own version of the game. That aside though this is probably the best football game out at the moment & the Master league is genius!!

This is the first Pro Evolution game in the series i have ever brought and it did not disapoint. I only got it because all my mates said it was much better than the fifa games which is very true. The gameplay is so much better and you dont get high scoring matches like you do in Fifa which adds to the entertainment. Also the computer is more realistic for example going all out attack when its losing 1-0 with 10 mins to go.The flaws to this game are:No licenced premiership teams or stadiumsVery difficult to score from free kicksCommentry not as good as Fifa.If Konami sort these things out, The next Pro Evolution soccer game will be a must have for all footie fans

It had been some time since i've played either fifa or pro evo until recently. I played fifa 2005 at a mates house and was impressed with the improvements that have been made. Even more recently however, I bought both Fifa 2005 and Pro Evo 4 for myself as I knew I quite liked Fifa 2005 and wasn't sure about Pro Evo but had read all the hype. Apart from checking it worked, I haven't even touched FIFA 2005 - Pro Evo is a simply amazing game. I'm still getting used to the controls and game play but trust me on this please - if you are not sure which game to buy - get this one!

i got Pro Evo Soccer 4 as part of a PS2 bundle that i bought for my 7 year old for his birthday. I worried whether he would be fussed about the lack of 'official' licenses and such like but, as another reviewer mentioned, the game play and graphics here are fantastic. This is a great game for PS2 novices and wholly sufficient for what I needed. No doubt over time my son will want some of the more personalisable features one might get with EA/FIFA but this has been great. Playablilty, graphics and so on are all top drawer. No idea how this has been 'improved' in Pro Evo 5.

This is what football is about. Lucky goals, scrapy goals, 30 yard screamers, tap ins and headers. It's all here.Words do very little - you just have to play the game to understand why many people rate it above the FIFA series.Give it a play, you wont be dissapointed

Probably the best football game to grace any computer format. The game is silky smooth a fast wtih players looking as real as it gets. It dosent have as many skills a fifa but the game play out shines it bar none. I truly reccomend this game for any football fanatic.
