I've always preferred the ISS series over Fifa on the Gamecube and the spiritual successor PES4 is the most complete game to date.Contrary to some other reviewers this game is fantastic.Initially the graphics look a bit poor, and the menu system looks like it was lifted from the N64.BUT... the playability of the game is spot on. The ball bounces after a long goal kick and is not always easy to control with a first touch. Passes sometimes go awry. Shots go over the bar or miss the target. There are no easy goals. When it all goes to plan though you're shimmying Giggsy up the side before passing to Rooney and after executing a deft 1-2 slotting the ball home. GOOAALLL!!!!The likenesses of players are spot on.They are all there - Keane in midfield, Ronaldo's arms doing double time when charging up the right wing. Obviously they couldn't get a license for the Premiership teams so before long you'll be playing a grudge match of "North London" vs "Manchester Red" (I'll leave it as an exercise to the reader to translate those teams to premiership clubs :-) The player names are licensed so Ruud will be knocking in a hat trick before you know it. If you fancy a bit of Euro fun then you can play as Real Madrid (proper name used - different league, different rights).Buy this game. Ignore the naysayers. For people who appreciate a good footy game this is the best in the business. Fact.Plus you can play online. Need I say more - 5/5.

I used to be jealous of ps2 owners as this was an awesome football game but the release of pro evo 4 on xbox had much anticipation and I think it has certainly lived up to it. The gameplay is extremly smooth and runs much faster than fifa 2005 which is considerably poor compared to this game. The game looks good too with some impressive graphics and various cut scenes. The commentary from Peter Brackley and the other dude is fairly decent although they flower the goalkeepers I feel. It is also extremly hard to score from outside the area and the play on system still is not perfect. Obviously the licensing affects the degree of the game slightly but with a little bit of time editting this soon becomes no problems. The complexity of the game is immense though. There are various types of skills and shots that you can perform as well as a variety of passes. The referees have improved on earlier versions where they give out cards like no tommorow and generally offside decisions are correct. The shooting system is particularly good also and no goal is quite like the same unlike fifa. fifa boosts 'one touch' control but this has already been established in pro evo without the need of the function included in the game and works very well with some delicate touches. This game maybe a tad difficult for beginners but for the hardcore football fan this is a must!

When I first started playing computer games on my SNES I had a copy of FIFA 95, and I continued to keep buying FIFA games until around FIFA 99 on the N64. It was then that I played a friend's copy of ISS Pro Evolution Soccer on the playstation. I liked it so much that I bought a second hand PSone and a copy of the game.Since then I have continued to buy PES over FIFA, and each year Konami amazes me with improvements on what I already considered to be the perfect football game. The same is true of this latest version. Although those of you who are more interested in the quality of the visuals and commentary will undoubtedly opt for FIFA 2005, PES4 is the choice of the football purist. The gameplay is unrivalled, slick passing moves and glorious through balls are a delight as soon as you have mastered the initial controls. That is not to say that this game is easy, it takes me a long time to perfect the moves but the satisfaction when it comes off is unbeatable.Of course there is the problem of out of date players, incorrect player names, kits, badges, stadia etc. I have since purchased a device for Xbox called the Max Drive enabling you to download the complete set of kits and with all the transfers up to date. These downloads are availble from PES fansites. This game is simply the best - there's no competition really

But why is it such a benchmark, you ask?Because for so long as an XBox owner, I have to listen to my friends, who are mostly PS2 owners, warble on about the Pro Evo series of games. And I must admit I was a very jealous man. Until earlier this year I was a sad lonely old man stuck with Championship Manager 02/03, and resigned to defeat, because all the FIFA games, whilst have superb graphics did not play well.Over 120 club teams (over 40 are licensed), over 50 international sides, newly redefined master league mode, 6 difficulty levels, improved edit mode, on screen referee and linesmen for the 1st time, the new adidas roteiro ball, new stadiums, new passing system, redefined control system and for the xbox version online play has now been 100% confirmed. Wow! And I haven't gone into any real detail about the game, and I am so excited I could burst. An amazing game awaits us, and PS2 owners may now be the jealous ones. Bring it on! GO AND BUY IT NOW!!!

so it's that time of year again, which one to choose! fifa, or pro evolution? fifa, admittedly one of the best selling franchise in the world has seemingly stuttered over the last few years. Beats Pro Ev hands down in terms of graphics and licenses, but thats where its winning streak ends. The fluent and intuitve gameplay, never being able to score an identical goal twice. Unlike fifa, shoot from a certain area and watch the badly computer intelligent keeper dive over the ball. The through ball, that you worked so hard to carve out an opening for, the multiplayer options. All of this is something you will not find in another football sim. Fact. Do the right thing, and change the best selling football sim into a certain game produced by Konami, you know it makes sense ;)

Most People giving reviews on the game seem to be Ps2 owners and haven't played the Xbox game. Most people are speaking in anticipation mode. I will tell you what its like. Ive played both versions.Basically they are almost identical and thats the problem. The Xbox is a superior machine and u would have thought they would of made it better optimised for the Xbox. Eg loading times and more noticeable the fuzzy pitch which is only on the xbox version. Strangly no reviews i have read mention this when this is clearly noticeable when playing the game. It seems when Konami ported it over they didn't polish these differences out. Apart from this and you begin to ignore the fuzz, the gameplay is outstanding and if you want the ps2 game then this is it....well almost.

i have mixed views on this product. Anyways i think certain aspects of the game is better than fifa 2005 as the gameplay engine is different. Animations are great, but player names are not brilliant. Fifa rips you off, Pro Evo doesnt. Fifa is easy to score on hard, pro evo isnt on hard. fifa has the names, thats it, pro evo has evrything but all the names. Get the picture.Conculsion to this anyway is if you like games where you can score easy and have all players name, choose fifa. If you want excellent animations of gameplay, not so good licence names, but same grpahics etc. GO FOR PRO EVO

Hello PES 4 lovers,Personally i feel that the game play on PES 4 is better than ever. I have to admit though there was a time when Fifa 2005 was my favoured but this was when i played PES 4 on Playstation 2. There was something missing then and i felt this was the end of PES. Luckily i took the risk of buying PES 4 on Xbox and thank god. I can easily say this is the best football game i have ever played. Better ball control. Better passing. Better shooting. The list goes on. If any football fans are thinking of buying a new release then this is what you want. A true masterpiece.

I have played all the fifa's from the MegaDrive all the way up to 2005 on the XBox and have rarely been disappointed but I thought I would give Pro Evo a chance since it came out on the Xbox. Fifa now has a lot live up to. This game is fantastic, like some of the reviewers have said, no goal is the same and you really have to work at it and think with your feet. I thought it would be easy, but getting spanked 4-1 in my first match made me realise otherwise! The Training sessions are brilliant and I really enjoy the Master League and edit mode. Buy This Game

I am looking forward for this title, and I think it will be very good, judging by its predecessors, as well as xbox power. I also notice many people complain about reviews for games "to be released", I disagree with this point of view besause among another issues, it shows how people are excepeting something (there are other factors, like demos that could have been payed, been released in other contries, etc). But onother thing's true: jedi6969, the top 500 guy, did cut/paste that preview at least from [...]

Pro Soccer has always appealed to me in a number of ways. Firstly Fifa got worse as time went on and Pro didnt.. for basic football sim get fifa. Pro Evo has loads to offer be PS2 or Xbox. Fast, FLUID slinky actions and the way first time touches comes off are amazing. Fifa always limited me too clunky for my liking. All my friends converted to Pro Evo after one play. XBOX version has the plus side of playing others from around the world on XBox Live which is great.

What can I say? The sheer joy of this game is simply too hard to put into words. I've played a lot of football games and this one is as the title says, heaven on a joypad...The little nuances added since number 3 (which was also a joy...) make this probably the most complete game of football yet, short of donning some boots and becoming Ronaldinho!Long live Pro Evo Soc...No.God Bless Pro Evo Soc...*Wishes I could find a decent English-Japanese translator...*M.

With each release of Pro Evolution Soccer, Konami has taken computer football to a higher level. The PS2 version will, no doubt again, receive top marks (five stars) which means that the Xbox version deserves six stars as it is 'live' - yes online. You can wake up at any hour of the morning (or day) and find someone on the planet who wants to play you. The first PES game to go 'live' and thus THE most eagerly awaited version... on the Xbox !!! ******

AWESOME!Pro evo 4 is an excellent game. There are over 50 national temas and plenty of club teams. The graphics are of good quality and it has graet gameplay. there are a wide range of on screen challenges and the computer has become even more difficult. The players are faster and have more control of the ball in this than PES3. The tricks look real and as a game it is moderate. GO FOR THIS NOT FIFA 2004! This game is ANOTHER CLASS!!!
