I eagerly bought this game a couple of days after it came out for a huge £44.99. I got it home expecting to be amazed by the realism and fluid gameplay the the Xbox 360 can deliver. Now I am feeling kind of let down. The game plays really well, ball physics and all that are spot on in my opinion. It really does play a good game of football. Off the ball runs are more intellegent that in previous installments, The option to take a quick free kick to catch the opponent off guard is a welcome one. Maybe there are a few too many offside calls but this is your own fault more often that not.The graphics in this new edition are not quite all I was expecting from a console with this much power.Even in HD the players still look far too much like computer graphics and not real human beings (as promised with HDTV).There are a good selection of "real" teams, obviously not as many as the FIFA games. The ability to edit team names has been removed so you are stuck with Lancashire Athletic (Wigan) and Teeside (Middlesbrough). The only Premiership teams with real club names are Arsenal and Manchester United, although the players for the other teams are all correct. There are not as many players in each squad as in previous editions, with most having around 20.All the normal Pro Evo game modes are there; Master League, domestic leagues and international cup competitions, plus the now obligatory Xbox Live mode. The Xbox Live mode is where this game really lets you down. For a start you can only play one-on-one. So you can forget about you and three mates going up against four people from the other side of the world. This is all providing you can get a game in the first place. The vast majority of online matches available you will fail to connect to, it will either say "failed to connect" or "the match room no longer exists". I can only connect to a game that is at the top of the list or if I am really quick when I see a new name on the list. It also freezes up while playing online, causing you to reset your machine and automatically lose 3-0. The game is not as responsive online, particularly when shooting. It becomes even more difficult to keep your shot under the crossbar than usual because the game doesn't always realise you've stopped holding down X. Very frustrating, especially when you have just performed an amazing passing move that left the defence for dead. Also, the vast amount of people playing as either Brazil or Barcelona gets irritating after a while, this is not a fault of the game though. LEARN TO BE SOMEONE ELSE PEOPLE!The ahievements are a bit time consuming but very managable. It will take a long time to win the Master League, all the cups and leagues and over 100 ranked online games, but then you will have all 1000 Gamerscore. Once you have done that trade it in for something a bit more enjoyable and without the frustrations of the online mode.

Hi all. Well basically I played pro evo 5 to death, and considered myself reasonablely good at it. However it was too easy on the difficult settings. After two years of hard loyal service playing it nearly every day, I was pining for something more challenging to come along. PES6 is without doubt it.For the first week, despite my experience I almost fealt I was learning the game from scratch. The pressure is apparent immediately from the k/o with the opposition really out to swat you all over the place. In my first week, I spent most of it on the ropes, getting k/o'd and losing 4 nills, 5 nills - frustrating - not for a second. At last a worthy title, that will actually push your footballing skills to new levels, and test your knowledge of the game to the max.Where the game has really improved, is on the amount of pressure your opponents put you under. They close down space, and loose passes are intercepted much easier by the opposition. You kind of get the feeling they've got more players then you. Also the added variety of movement and ball control available completely opens the game up, and just allows so much more to be possible. Also and perhaps most importantly, the AI shows really intelligent agression. Give an opponent too much room, and if they've got pace, they'll leave you for dead and be clear on goal. Where PES5 was so irritating, was when your opposition got clear through on goal at the edge of the penalty box, rather then trying to position themselves for the coup de grace, they'd often rush a long range shot which would fly over (only occaisionally going in) - not in PES6. If the AI get in they can be clinical in their ruthless efficiency. It just adds some much extra caution and respect that you need to show your opponents, and this is part of the true essence of football. Konami, have absolutely nailed this game. It is exceptional. The passing has itself been tweeked too, so you are gonna have to be patient whilst you get used to it. And having spent so long on the original xbox playing it, a little adjustment is required getting used to the lack of the black button, and using the extra trigger buttons now available. All in all PES6 is back, bigger and better then all that have come before it. Prepare to be busy for a long time to come. Now bring on Man United.

The excitement at the initial release of this game was diminished more and more the more I explored the game.Despite the Xbox 360 being one of the more powerful machines in the market, a large number of features present in the other versions have been missed out. The most noticeable element of this is the editor, which does not allow the user to change the names of teams, or create new players, or even change the way ones already there look. Considering the detail in the faces, I was looking forward to using what must have been a very powerful editor - if they ever let us use it.The Master League, remastered, is made poorer by this lack of new players - instead of youth players coming through the ranks, when older players reture, they respawn, with the same name, as youth players. This reduces the fun considerably, as the players themselves change little - it is abundantly obvious that a 17-year-old Thierry Henry will turn into a good player, and (quelle surprise), he does. This can easily take the fun out of taking a risk on a young player, especially five or ten years in, when, if you haven't heard of a youth player, they're probably not any good. When you start a match for the first time, there is something that doesn't feel quite right about the match. It is difficult to put your finger on it, but it adds up to something that looks a little bit unfinished.Thank goodness that, when the game starts, all of that goes away. Every single area of the game - passing, shooting, through balls, long balls, etc. - has been carefully thought out, and the end result is superb. Yes, the heading system is difficult to master, free kicks are initially difficult to even get on target, it is far too easy to miss from three yards out with no 'keeper, and the computer AI doesn't foul enough, but ignoring minor teething problems, the game is nothing short of superb, and that's really all that can be said regarding the gameplay. If all you look for in a football game is a good 90 minutes of simulated exercise (which, lets face it, is what most of us do), then this is an excellent game to buy. However, the off-pitch features fall short of what you would expect of a console and a game of this standard.

I am old when it comes to video games. I remember Internation Superstar Soccer which was a weak version of of the Pro Evo series. I think it was on Playstation 1, I also remember some of the old Fifa games as well. My how technology has moved on.I have been more of a Fifa fan over recent years with the PS2, my newest version of this game is Fifa 05 which is quite old but I do enjoy. My eldest son has a XBOX 360 and I did not know which way to turn. Fifa is very much a pick up and play sort of game, great for playing your mates after the pub or if you have a spare 30 minutes. PES 6 is nothing like this, the graphics are good and smooth, although I expected more from the latest next gen consoles. The game play itself is where it comes into it's own. I have only had the game two days and I still am struggling finding a set way to beat teams, with Fifa I could also go down the wings, cross and score from headers, this is nothing like that. I score a good goal then try to replicate it and the AI seems to have worked this out and I cannot do it again. Also the teams you play are very different in terms of skill level, some I can beat by 1 or 2 goals and when I think I have the hang of it, I lose 4-0. The tackling is one of the hardest elements I find, not mastered that yet. The refs AI is very good and they are comparable in terms of strictness that you see in the Permiership today. This is a tough game to crack. There are different games you can play with one having a slight managerial element, but I have not really go to that stage yet to comment.I cannot comment on the latest Fifa 07 game, which I'm sure is very enjoyable but I think it comes down to your particular taste, if you want a game to just pick up and play then Fifa 07, if you want to learn all the special tricks and gameplay and are happy taking weeks to learn this and have a real challenge then probably PES 6 is the one for you. I am 36 and like Fifa but am happy with my choice and it is much more of a challenge. I gave this game a 5 in terms of fun but overall a 4 as I feel it is weaker on graphics than it should be, plus alot is missing from the game compared to the PS2 version.

I appreciate the comments made by the other reviewers but (and you knew it was coming) this game takes time. I owned a PS1 and PS2 as well as the XBOX and none of those consoles ever grabbed me and made me addicted to playing the games. With the 360 however it does consume a lot of my time, when i get a spare moment i jump straight on!!! the games are more involved and are a lot deeper than any i have played, and a number of them i have disliked in the first 2/3 hours of play - NFS mst wanted, moto gp, oblivion, GRAW the list could go on. With Pro Evo it IS different to the others, i have played the new PS2 version and it is a continuation from the others. With the 360 version it is a lot deeper - more realistic and once you crack it - far more rewarding than any other installment. Yes when you first play it WILL be frustrating - but give it time and you wont be disappointed. The players move like the real version, the goals come from all kinds of different play and the movement is first class. A lot of it - negotiations remain the same - you cant buy anyone decent till your 2nd season in the first division / set up / formations etc. It has lost the classic players and teams which is a bit of a shame but believe me it makes up for it. There is a close control button (left trigger) that allows the more skillful to skin a player so no more just turning sharply and running to get past players, through balls are more realistic and have more success. also tough tackles get waved for play on which makes it more fluid - unless you claim the ball!! Snap shots and long shots are improved as is crossing. Again you cant just run at an angle to intice the foul - the AI is intelligent and will jockey and wait for you to try something. The only annoyance like in all the others is that it does change player when defending at the wrong time and to be honest it is annoying but all the pro's outweigh this considerably!!! Buy it and give it time!!

I have been a fan of the PES series from the first ever version. This Xbox 360 version of the game is not as enjoyable to play compared to the PS2 counterpart, however it is currently the best football game out on the xbox 360. There are slight differences in the gameplay (its slightly faster on PS2, and 360 version has slow downs) and better animation in the 360 version. One of the most enjoyable factor in the PES series is the edit mode, this version doesnt have such an indepth edit mode as you'd like (such as moving players from one club to another). The masterleague is respectable, but once you get a good squad, playing against the computer becomes pretty easy, boring and repetitive. The graphics are great, but some player models are awful and do not look as good as the PS2 version.Whilst playing the game i have noticed sometimes its really difficult to score the most simplest of goals (shots go straight at the keeper, missing open goals, tap ins etc). I have had games where ive had 20 shots on target but no goals. This gets frustrating, but when the ball goes into the back of the net, then you'd be celebrating as if you were on the pitch and scored yourself.Xbox live keeps me playing this game as its fun to play people all over the world and every game is different, so you may have to think about team/tactics more often. The only downside to Xbox live is the slow downs on some occassions (you're pressing a button and the player reacts a second or more later) Everytime mates comes over, its Pro Evolution time, its a great multiplayer game.If you can wait until October/November time for Pro Evolution 7 then do so, unless you really need a football game now. Fifa and UEFA champions league are enjoyable, easy to pick up and play, but if you want a game which closely resembles the sport of football then get Pro Evolution 6.I would give it 3.5 stars out of 5 overall

As one of the many winners of a PES5 nationwide tournament earlier this year, it entitled me to a week of playing PES6 on the xbox360. Here is my summary of the 7 days I spent playing on this game so far:GOOD POINTS:-=============+ Amazing HD graphics/animations+ More international teams than ever (all teams from the FIFA world cup 2006 are in), and more licensed club teams than ever (the French league is now licensed in addition to the Dutch, Spanish and Italian leagues)+ More realistic pace to the game+ Linesmen and fourth officials can be seen whilst playing the game+ Xbox live mode is second to none on any other football game+ Pitchside reporter+ All licensed kits/players look very realistic+ Presentation is the best of any PES game,by some way+ Sound effects/atmosphere is now amazingBAD POINTS:-============- No Bundesliga in the game (the German Football Federation withdrew the license)- Edit mode is severley 'watered' down for the xbox360 version- No official English Premiership license- No 3rd/alternative kits- Commentary is STILL awful- Still too many 'made' up player/team namesOVERALL:-Despite the fact that there are a few gripes about this game, such as the edit mode being watered down for the 360 version, it is still an astonoshing game with fantastic graphics, sound effects, and the xbox live mode is astonoshingly good with NO lag whatsoever, and quitters now punished accordingly, Konami could still improve and include more clubs, more licenses etc, but its still light years ahead of EA sports' FIFA 07.

Ive had Pro Evo for a fair few months now, and I think its better than a lot of people give it credit for. Its a much less glossy game than FIFA, graphics arent quite as good, it doesnt have all the team/player names and the menus look like a child made them. But I dont think any of that matters. There is an amazing depth to the game especially if you can get online against other real opponents. Although as people say Eto'o and Henry arent twice as fast as all other players on the pitch, its much more realistic than it used to be, now you have to pass the ball about and wait for the well timed run, which is far more satisfying to score. You can use powerful defenders to nudge strikers on the ball without fouling them and just force them to rush their shot.I'd probably only give it 4.5 if you cant use Xbox Live, but this is only because after a while you can get used to what the AI will do, im half way through my second master league campaign and its still enjoyable watching players blossom, and using different tactics and styles to counter different opponents. It does take a lot of getting used to however - the shooting is very sensitive, and holding sprint permanently down doesnt help as much as it used to, but I think this makes for a better game. Not as easy to pick up and play as FIFA, but thats never been what PES is about, this is easily my favourite footy game ever, and if you like tweaking with tactics and building up attacks progressively, then its a very rewarding game

I have always had a football game in my collection, if not for endless enjoyment on my own but it is always a game that you can gaurantee to play with your mates. I got PES6 bundled in with my console and as a result it was the first game I played, i was immediately impressed with the graphics, and the gameplay is suprisingly easy to manage even if the players seem slightly sluggish. The detail in the pitch and the players is brilliant, this is a football game where the players actually look like their real life counterparts! The commentary is varied, however playing successive matches you do find it a bit repetative, one of the best features (which must put the HDD under some spacial pressure)is the action replays after a goal. When you've scored you can replay the last few seconds, pause, fast forward, rewind and best of all change the camera angle anywhere in 3D space, which I though was helpful to determine player positions.Over all if you want a football game this is great, I have not played the new FIFA yet but after coming from FIFA 05 on the Xbox PES6 is a big improvement over game play and graphics. It would have been nice to have more clubs added however, most of the teams do not exist, maybe someday real teams will be available to download.

Having been a fan of Pro Evolution since the first instalment and having recently purchased an xbox 360, I was eagerly waiting to try out pes6 on this next gen console. However after reading some of the reviews here I initially decided to hold off on pes6, and stick with Fifa 07 which came bundled with the xbox 360. There is no doubt that EA have made a giant leap forward in terms of fluid gameplay with 07 but it still suffers in my opinion from repetetiveness and predictability. A post christmas sale gave me an opportunity to purchase pes6 at half the normal price and I took the plunge and am glad I did. That is not to say that a lot of the criticism levelled at pes6 is not warranted, particularly regarding the lack of features such as "editing" etc, however Fifa 07 on the xbox 360 also lacks features available on other platforms. For me the gameplay on pes6 is still far more realistic than anything else I have experienced. In a nutshell, as a previous reviewer has mentioned, the improvements are minimal, but they are there. Maybe people have a right to expect more than this on a next gen console and higher priced games, but for me pes6 is still ahead of Fifa 07, but the gap has closed considerably.

I love my xbox 360, but to be honest I feel as I've been lied to. Why aren't the games any different to the old xbox, if anything they seem to have less than the old games.I remember the last PES, you could create a masterleague and edit your teams name and kit. Now you have to keep the name and kit of a team that already exists.Oh and where have all the special features gone, I can't buy 1960's heroes or get rainbow ball replays. You can't even save replays. And why do the players look less realistic? On the up side I have played it a lot and I'm getting into it. I put my game level up today and almost threw the controller at the screen, cos now through balls go the wrong way and the oposition knows what I'm doing before I do it.But it's still fun. From what I've seen and heard about FIFA I'm still pretty happy with my choice.Buy it over FIFA but don't expect anything amazing. Please sort out the next gen games! Last game I bought was Dead Rising, which is great unless you want to save a game...anyway 4 stars.

OK, I concede that the lack of an edit feature of any substance is a real annoyance and that is the reason I marked it down to 4 stars. However, that aside I simply cannot understand why everybody berates this game. The gameplay grahics are a significant improvement over the last gen versions although the cut scenes such as players celebrating their goals are not what you would expect from a machine as powerful as the 360. The ball and player physics are truly excellent and combined with the overall gameplay the game looks and feels very smooth and natural.Obviously there have been a number of comparisons with FIFA 07, which I confess I only had for the original Xbox.I understand that gameplay remains the same on the 360 version and it just looks nicer. If that is the case then Pro Evo 6 simply blows it away.I would highly recommend this game to any football fan. Oh and just have a look at the size of Joe Cole's forehead in this game. It's massive!!

ok ok it's not as good as PES5 and if i'm honest this isn't as great as i had hoped for and indeed was expecting. But and it's a big but it is still the best up to date football game out there. If ya want all the real names, kits and stadiums buy fifa 07, but expect a shockingly poor rendition of the beautiful game, it's the worst football game i've played since sensible soccer! PES6 holds true to the values of previous PES titles of delivering stunning graphics and awesome gameplay to recreate the real thing as closly as is humanly posible. Theres no better feeling than beating a couple of defenders and placing a shot passed the goalkeeper in typical Thierry Henry fassion. And fifa........well don't get me started on fifa! There are no editing options on PES6 but i've never needed it anyway, so what if ya find yaself as Merseyside Reds (Liverpool) or London Blue (chelsea) the qualtiy of football on show more than makes up for it!!

Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for the Xbox 360 is a fun, much improved game! Players are different, believeable and like in real life, each have their own style of playing football. This is noticable, especially with players like Michael Carrick of Man United, and Beckham, Ronaldinho etc. The commentary on the game is also one of the main high points, and you never get frustrated by hearing the same thing like on Fifas in the past. The celebrations change, and you can really see the contrast in the height, build and other features of the players, unlike on the PS2 and Xbox where the only differences between the players have been hair colour etc.!A great game, I got it for Xmas with my Xbox 360 and is really catchy! Also negotations and transfers are really deep, as the players have their own say and it requires contract years, salary etc! Im yet to get the required capabilities for Xbox live, but it looks good with the Pro Evolution!
