This is fabulous. I'm a dedicated penderyn Madeira drinker and always have some in stock.I've recently started trying their other similarly priced whiskies and have so far tried legend (don't like), sherrywood (very good) and this portwood (excellent).The colour is a rich dark brown, and the nose is a rich port like smell, and the first sip sweet soon followed by the strength without bitterness and characteristic penderyn honey and caramel mixed with smooth but strong classic whiskiness. It's hard to describe how good this is, but once you try it if you've previously enjoyed the more available Madeira (the one in similar shape bottle but with black card box)

I've had Penderyn Madeira, Peated, Legend, Myth and Portwood, and Portwood is the best so far.It's worth stating that I have yet to find a whisky beyond the Penderyn range that I like - I am pretty fussy regarding whisky - and myth and legend are on the borderline for me. I "splashed out" on Portwood recently when the price of a bottle was just above the standard Penderyn bottles but I'd now happily pay double (i.e., its usual price). If the depth of colour, flavour and texture is noticeably superior to the other varieties for a whisky amateur like me, I can only imagine how much more sophisticated it must be for a proper whisky afficianado.I have yet to try Sherrywood or Rich Oak but I am

We've bought two Penderyn whiskies and for the money both have far exceeded expectations. Welsh Penderyn whisky is actually very good, up there with some of the best Scottish whiskies. We don't like smoked whiskies so this ticks the box. Our favourites are Dalmore, most variations, Glenmorangie 18 and Macallan 18 but this Penderyn really holds it own and is a pleasure to drink alongside these more expensive options.

Impressive for a new distillery making its way in the market, One of the best whiskey they are making at the moment. Rich and thick with a nice mouth feel. Feel like a king drinking this port cask. Very satisfied after one glass, Bought mine on a trip though wales and the lady at the distillery recommended this bottle. A+++ Great experience drinking this. One glass of thick deliciousness
