I was given this product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program. Charging The charging stand has a 3-pin UK mains plug for use anywhere except the bathroom. There's no full charge indicator so just charge overnight (12 hours) for a full charge, or 20 hours from new or if unused for 6 months. The trimmer latches into the charging base with a confident click and no risk of it falling off if nudged or knocked. It is easily removed with one hand gripping the trimmer and a second on the charging base. In Use The remarkably light Panasonic GB42 is easy to hold. The curved shape is very comfortable to hold with a firm handshake style grip, but I tend to use a lighter grasp with my fingertips so I can trim both sides of my face without changing my grip or hand. Even with this lighter grip the matt surface and ribbing around the middle enables you to confidently steer and apply the trimmer as desired. The cutting length is easily set by the knurled adjustment wheel that can be rotated using just thumb and forefinger. Press the on-off button lightly for the trimmer to buzz into action, and a firmer press will latch the switch on. A subsequent firm press turns it off. The trimmer blades are narrower than on my old mains powered trimmer so more strokes are required. The Panasonic GB42 avoids the encumbrance of a mains lead and can be easily stowed in your wash bag. Maintenance Rinsing the trimmer under the tap is a joy compared to the mess of brushing and blowing of air required of a trimmer that isn't waterproof. A small brush is supplied with a small bottle of oil for maintaining the trimming blades. Summary The Panasonic GB42 is light and easy to use. Charging and adjustment are uncomplicated. Cleaning is easy and can be quickly done mid trim if required. The narrow cutting head requires a little more work than a bigger trimmer but the no-nonsense simplicity, comfort, lightness in the hand, and quick cleaning are all worthwhile benefits.

I was given this product by Panasonic as part of the Panasonic reviewer program, so what do I think about it? The trimmer is supplied in a box with a very small brush, bottle of oil and a charge stand along with a very thick instruction book, but thankfully it is only the first 20 pages that are in English. When you first remove the trimmer, it will need charging for about 20 hours to condition the battery and that means plugging it into the stand. This requires a firm push and it will click into place unlike some other stands where they just slide down and studs on the back are used to charge. The advantage with this connection is that the trimmer is held firmly in place. The red charging light comes on and stays on until you decide it is fully charged. In use, the trimmer feels good in the hand and it is quite light whilst also feeling well balanced. The adjustment dial is quite interesting and it has grown on me after I initially thought that it looks like the dial on a bottle of deodorant. It is solid and provides a firm click that holds the chosen cutting length and I feel confidant that it won't move in use. I have found some cutters with a head that you move manually and they can slip so you end up with a bald patch. I think this system is more secure, but only time will tell if it is going to become loose after repeated use. Knowing Panasonic's quality and the fact that it feels so solid, I think that it will be OK. The fact that it adjusts from 1mm-10mm in 0.5mm steps is better than many other products on the market and the comb attachment is very secure when attached. It was a little awkward to remove at first, but once I got used to it I find it quite easy and it is made from a strong plastic so it shouldn't break. I found it to be quiet and it provides a clean cut. After use, it is easy to clean and just needs a little oil after each use.

I must state that I was given the product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program. On Holding the Trimmer, the first thing that strikes you is how sturdy and comfortable it is to hold. Changing the length of the cut is done easily using a revolving wheel The Blade Guard is easy to remove for precision work. The GB42 has 19 length settings from 1 to 10mm in 0.5 mm intervals with guard on and cuts at 0.5 mm without the blade guard on. So plenty of choice for any situation. I knew I was going to receive this trimmer to test so decided not to shave or trim the remainder of my facial hair or Goatee for a week before using.I had never had a wet/dry trimmer before I decided to try the wet option on my facial hair without the comb attached first. After I finishing, I had short even stubble which was great for leaving a bit of designer stubble. Cleaning the trimmer under warm running water was easy and effective. I then used the GB42 to trim and shape my Goatee. When I got the beard and moustache down to my desired length I took the guard off and began some precision trimming around the edges of the beard which added definition and removed any stray hairs I had missed previously from the neck area or any long hairs above my top lip. It worked well and I was extremely pleased with the result. I removed the guard and cleaning was easy using the small brush provided. I oiled the blades lightly and replaced the Trimmer on the charger. The blades are sharp and the motor seems more powerful, but quieter than the trimmer it has replaced. It gets the job done quickly, cutting all hair to the same length without having to go over the same area repeatedly I am extremely pleased with the Trimmer and would highly recommend it to anyone thinking about buying.

I was given this product by Panasonic as part of the Panasonic reviewer program, and it arrived just in time to give my full beard an all-over trim. After charging it for approx 20 hours as per instructions I found it very easy to use. The trimmer is easy to turn on and fells comfortable to hold as it is well balanced. The dial height adjustment has a positive "click" action so that the chosen trimming length stays selected (my previous trimmer had a habit of adjusting itself during use which could result in short patches in my beard). The end result using the PanasonicER-GB42 was a neat and very tidy beard and moustache with all hairs the same length. Although I would not normally use the trimmer for a wet trim, for the purposes of this review I tried it both wet and dry (without the comb attachment) on 3 days of stubble growth and found it fairly efficient, but personally I prefer to use a foil razor for this purpose. Unlike my previous trimmer the PanasonicER-GB42 is extremely quiet when in use . After use I found it easy to rinse out the hair trimmings, and it is then important to remove and oil the blade as instructed. The oil is supplied with the trimmer and should last a long time as only 1 or 2 drops of oil are needed. As other reviewers have pointed out the comb attachment and the blade can be a bit difficult to remove until you are used to them, and plugging and unplugging the trimmer from the charging unit needs a firm pull - again it's OK with practice. My only real criticism is that the trimmer does not have a storage pouch to hold the charging unit and trimmer when not required, because I only trim my beard about 3 or 4 times a month, and it would also be useful to have charger and trimmer in a pouch for holidays and weekends away.

In return for providing an unbiased review, I was invited to become a member of something called the Panasonic Reviewing Panel and sent a Panasonic GB42 Wet & Dry Beard Trimmer. Well packaged and with a comprehensive multi-language manual, I unpacked this GB42 which I found comfortable in the hand with a reassuring weight but not over heavy when negotiating the contours of my face. Wedded to a Remington model for the last eleven years, I was quickly impressed with the number of advantages it offered over my old favourite. Firstly, the built-in length adjuster that rotates to move the guard up and down. This secures the correct cutting length with no danger of it changing when pushing against the face.My old Remington's add-on guards would easily slip and change lengths occasionally disastrously during the trimming process. But be careful to start with a higher number than you might normally consider and then trim shorter once you've viewed the results as I found the marked figures don't necessarily conform to any length in millimetres! Secondly, the charging stand has an easy and effortless 'slot, push, click' action again unlike my old trimmer's more clumsy and 'push, jiggle, press hard' process. Thirdly, it's a wet and dry trimmer so you can use in the shower if you want and wash it under the tap, which makes it much easier to keep clean. Finally (and my only negative after a couple of weeks' use) is the need to anoint the blade with oil before and after each use. I've no problems with the process itself, I just wondered why it has to be so often. So, quieter, simpler and smoother, I'll be happy to retire my old trimmer in favour of the GB42.

I was given the product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer Program. The trimmer and accessories are well presented in a display box and first impressions suggest that the trimmer is well made and looks like a quality product. After removing it from the box and further examination confirms my previous statement that it is well made, has a good design and feels well built. The charging deck is ergometrically friendly and again is well constructed and easy to use. I am pleased to state that it has a three pin UK plug. When charging a led light is displayed, however the light does not go out when the charging is complete, not a big problem. It would have been useful if a USB facility was available for charging. The 19 length cutting settings allows you to precisely adjust the trimming levels and gives good results for shaping the beard wet or dry. The comb attachment can be easily removed and used without gives excellent results and can provide a good stubble, far better than the other twe well known brands that I have.I also use it to trim my sideburns and have no problems in doing so. The trimmer after use can be easily cleaned by flushing it under running water whilst it is switched on.The excess water can be removed with a dry towell. The unit can also be easily cleaned with a small brush (provided). As regards storage the unit and charging dock can be placed back in the display box, however I feel appropiate sized pouches would have been a better option for storage for storage, To conclud the Trimmer is well constructed ,easy to use, gives excellet results and is highly recommended.

I was sent the Panasonic GB42 Wet and Dry Beard Trimmer to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program, and I have to say I couldn't be happier with it. I've used it a few times now and the thing that appeals to me the most is the range of beard lengths you can achieve (20 in all!), set in handy 0.5mm intervals. Switching between them is easy, a click wheel which you dial up or down, and the whole mechanism feels solid and tactile. The unit itself is well made, nice and sleek design and feels good in the hand and so easy to charge, the recharging unit is also sleek and compact. I guess the only real downside to the trimmer was that because the blades are within an inbuilt comb, hair builds up and at first I was unsure how to empty this. But having said that, it didn't take me long to figure out that the comb slides off and the hair falls out. It does also come with a small cleaning brush to get right into the small grooves of the trimmer head. Important to note that the mm measurements don't mean Grades! I should have known this, but 1mm is not grade 1. Grade 1 is 3mm, so you could be in for a shock if you don't learn these first, worth a bit of trial and error. I took the guard off and used the bare blade on my neck and it gave a nice close finish. I guess you could use the trimmer for shaving head too, but haven't gone that far yet. Overall, having had a beard for 20 years or so, this is by far the best trimmer I have come across. Neat, compact, all in one little product. Would definitely recommend.

I was given the product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program. Having never owned a beard trimmer I was keen to see how well it performed. The trimmer looks great with its compact design. It was ready to use straight out of the box though I decided to have a go at charging it first. It clicks into the cradle with a reassuring click so there will be no danger of it not charging due to it not connecting properly. The only downside is that the LED colour doesn't change when it's fully charged. The comb length is so easy to alter with the rotational adjustment, so much better than hair trimmers and messing about changing the combs. A big thumbs up.It does take a bit of getting used to though. I tried it on the longer settings and reduced it gradually, though my turns did get larger and I trimmed a little shorter than I would have chosen. All part of the learning process I guess. It is really easy to clean though I did find that, after trying it out on body hair, it does tend to clog the comb relatively quickly and works much better cutting against the direction of growth. I did struggle to follow the very small diagram that tries to show how the cutter can be removed to clean it properly and lubricate it. A user video may be useful (not sure if I missed that one). Really easy to store with my man bits and no messing about taking extension cables and wired trimmers into the bathroom. I'm definitely taking it on holiday with me to make sure I'm well groomed at all times.

I was given this product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program. When the product arrived it was fully charged ready to use. I read the instructions which were easy to understand before I used the product. The product itself has a small, sharp blade with 19 separate easy to select height adjustments and a detachable comb. It is simple to use because on the front of the unit there is a dial and you turn it to select how high you want the comb. There is an on/off switch that you can lightly press to give a quick pulse, or push firmly to have the razor on constantly. Narrow precision head makes it good for beards but not suitable for hair. The maintenance is a little bit fiddly in that you are required to oil before use, rinse after use, oil after use when dry, however, a small price to pay for such a good product. The charger is sturdy to hold the razor upright when charging and the razor fits neatly into the docking station. The only downside is that the LED light shows that it is charging but not what status it is at and the light doesn't go out when it is fully charged.

The ER-GB42 Beard Trimmer was supplied to me by Panasonic for me to provide an honest review. I found the use of Gb42 very lightweight and comfortable to use, and the multiple adjustment levels of cutting excellent. Having had a short beard for many years now and having tried many different brands I have found the Panasonic to be the best, in my opinion. I've not tried the product in the shower or for trimming other body areas but see no reason why it wouldn't perform very well. I have used the trimmer several times over the last week or more and the battery still seems to have plenty of battery life left in it.

I was given this product by Panasonic to review as part of the Panasonic Reviewer program. Having had a short beard and short hair for many years now I found the product very easy to use. The ER-GB42 is very sturdy and comfortable to hold. With the comb and the adjustable scale, the length of cut is perfect every time. Cleaning the trimmer under warm running water was easy. The blades are sharp and the motor is very powerful, and quiet. I am extremely pleased with the Trimmer and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I was given this beard trimmer by Panasonic as part of the Reviewer programme. I found the product very easy to use The beard length adjustment is particularly easy to use, and provides a good range of beard lengths - I maintain my beard at a short length, and the trimmer was very easy to use for this purpose. It is not provided with a 2 pin BS4573 plug, so it is disappointing that it cannot be charged on my bathroom socket. The trimmer is a little bulky as it is not fitted with a lithium battery

I received this as a member of the Panasonic Reviewing panel. It arrived fully charged and was put to use almost immediately. Its small size and sharp blade made it easy and effective to use. Used without the comb it makes clear and sharp lines. With the comb the length of cut is easy to adjust but the scale takes some getting used to . The charging cradle is neat and effective if a little large. It looks like good value compared to similar items on the market.

Cuts great no tugging on the face. Easy to use and don’t need to change heads for lengths really happy. Oh and the charge time that I was worried about is fantastic I charge once a week and it lasts a shave every other day. Dry or wet cut fab
