I can't comment on these clippers for beard trimming, but they certainly do a grand job of cutting hair.First thing to note is that the blade is small - around 24mm cutting width - and fine-toothed. So, while these are perfectly capable of giving you an all-over cut, for speed you may wish to use larger clippers first to remove the bulk of the hair, then use these to make sure everything is an even length, and to trim around the ears and neckline - they're particularly good at the precision stuff.Initial charge time is long - up to 24 hours according to Panasonic online FAQs - and thereafter, recharging takes 8-12 hours depending on your mains voltage. There's no indication of when charging is complete however, nor how much charge remains when in use. Another thing to note is that due to the charger design, you can only use the clippers cordless, so if you run out of charge part way through, you're stuffed. That said, battery life appears good thus far, so with careful planning this shouldn't be too much of a problem.Unlike Panasonic's high-end clippers which are made in Japan, this lower-order offering is manufactured in China. But don't let that put you off - both the materials used and the workmanship live up to brand expectation, so the company clearly has effective quality controls in place. The comb height adjustment is accurate, clicks into place reassuringly at each step, and stays put during use. The comb itself glides comfortably across the scalp without digging in. Some reviewers have commented that the retaining clips on the comb snap at some point in their life - personally they give the impression that they will last if handled carefully, but time will tell. I see that a replacement comb is available, although I've only seen it in the garish blue colour rather than silver - but it would do the job regardless. The clippers seem to work equally well in the shower as they do dry - best to lather the hair first for smooth progress. The feature that allows you to direct water through the cutting head for cleaning is useful, but you'll still need to use a brush and/or a can of compressed air to get all the stray bits of hair out, as they stick to the oil film. The woefully tiny brush supplied is best ignored for this purpose - better to rely on one you have lying around from a previous product, or use a soft toothbrush. On the subject of oil, the bottle supplied contains a decent amount and delivers accurate drops where you want them. The nozzle can be popped off for refilling - so when the time comes, you can top up with your favourite brand of light machine oil rather than buy another small bottle of Panasonic-branded oil at premium price. The oiling process itself is no real hardship - just get everything clean and leave it to dry, then it only takes a few seconds to put a couple of drops on the cutting teeth, a drop at each end of the blade slide, and one or two on the slot for the motor spindle. Put it back together and run the clippers for a few seconds to distribute the oil and you're ready for the next cut.To sum up: I spent a lot of time researching the myriad products on offer within my budget before settling on these; I've been more than satisfied with my choice, would buy them again, and can heartily recommend them to others.

This review is for the following:PanasonicPanasonic ER-GB40 Wet and Dry Electric Beard Trimmer for Men with 19 Cutting Lengths, UK 2 Pin PlugI purchased this in April after my last one finally gave up the ghost. I took a great deal of time choosing this as I purchased one previously, that when used actually felt that is was plucking out each hair individually.Reading the reviews it looked perfect for my needs and was from a well known and reliable company. To note being ex military I also intended on using the trimmer to keep my hair (getting more thinner as time goes on). A beard trimmer is perfect as during lockdown, I went back to Type and have adopted what I call, a deployment haircut, short and tight, making it easy to manage. The trimmer comes with a wireless charging adapter and since my purchase in April I have only had to charge this trimmer 3 times. This is excellent as I keep my hair short (1.5mm) every few days, including maintaining my beard. The trimmer is easy to use, the setting simply adjustable using a easy to use slider. The cutting head stays in place when cutting your hair. Which makes it easy to use one handed. The cut is even and easy to clean. The cutting head guard is also easy to remove when you need to tight cut when doing your neck etc.I am really pleased with this high quality product. I'm actually glad the previous one failed and required me to look in more detail at the various products available and really read the reviews. This enabled me to finally get a high quality product, that I know will last a long time.Overall a easy 5 ⭐ for this trimmer. A worthwhile price to pay. Happy to recommend this product.I hope you find this review useful ?

So on opening the package you find some very well packaged items, the trimmers themselves with the optional guard pre-fitted, the dedicated charging unit (the trimmers are cordless with an internal re-chargeable battery), a small brush for cleaning the trimmers and a small bottle of oil to lubricate them. The instructions are fairly brief and give you all the information you need to get up and running. Things to note are that these trimmers can only be charged with the supplied charging stand, unlike many devices these days they are not charged via a USB type interface. You are also advised to lubricate the blades with a couple of drops of oil each time you use the trimmers. The 'feel'and ergonomics of the trimmers are superb, they fit in the hand perfectly and the controls are in exactly the right place to use them single handed. Having said that the controls are relatively limited as all you have are an on/off switch and a 'cut length' which is implemented as a ring just below the head of the trimmers which you rotate, starting at 1 for closest cut and cut length increasing with the number as you rotate the ring.Another nice feature of these trimmers are that they are waterproof and as such can be used either wet or dry without any worry of damaging them.In use I've found them to be highly efficient and providing a perfect cut, I even trimmed off the stray hairs my elderly mother has been cultivating for years lol! Vibration of the unit is minimal making them comfortable to hold, they are very quiet for this type of device and just do what they are supposed to do flawlessly. Totally recommended!

I have tested a couple of hair trimmers now and this is up there with the better ones.It feels nice told hold as the shape of it fits perfectly in to my hand. It’s nice and sharp I have not had any tugging on my hair from it.The Panasonic's ER-GB37 features 20 cutting lengths (0.5-10mm) to achieve any beard style you desire. It features a very simple dial with different lengths numbered on it to guide you on the correct length Desired. Cutting to 0.5mm is possible when not using an attachment. This very simple to remove without any tools by pooping it out the end by hand. It reinstalls just as fast.0.5 is not totally clean shaven but very close and suits me perfectly. The charge lead is nice and long it’s just under 2 metres long,it has a 3 a pin plug and not a bathroom plug fitted. This actually suits me as I don’t have a bathroom plug installed. The blade can be washed over a tap without issue as it has a drain hole built in.Now the only couple of down sides I can say is that it does not have a charge light or battery indicator so one day you could end with the dreaded half shaved face. Simple planning of regular charging would stop this but it’s always nice to know what’s left in the battery. The other down side I find with all my shavers is they all have different random charge points why can they not just have a usb c type for example. Then if my charger got damaged it could be replaced very fast and simply.I have a few shavers now from different brands all with different charge ports.

Panasonic state that this is a beard/hair trimmer and they’re bang on there. They work well on facial hair and can be used to keep very short scalp cuts in check but don’t have the oomph to cut dense hair at longer (5mm+) lengths so don’t try - it’ll be an unrewarding experience. It will work in the wet but I find that all trimmers work better dry. This is the first trimmer I’ve seen that features half millimetre trim lengths, going as it does from 1mm to 10mm in 0.5mm increments. They have a neat sideways rotary mechanism for fixing the length of trim. This mechanism, plus the firm grip required to move it makes it hard to accidentally change the length, something that I’ve found too easy to do to my cost on other trimmers.Cleaning is easy thanks to a small channel that has been engineered into the head to allow water to flush through and dislodge hair clippings. The trimmer is lightweight and fit well in the hand. Like many compact trimmers however the down side is that they are battery only and require their own dedicated charging stand which is about the same size and weight again, meaning that they’re not the best if you want to travel light. Worse still, the charger only accepts 220-240v mains, so taking these to Europe is a no-go. A full charge gets you 50 minutes of use so it isn’t all bad - good for breaks of up to 5 days in length. If you’re happy to keep this at home I’m sure you’ll love it. Just don’t travel with it.

My partner recently commented that I was starting to look a bit untidy down below. I suppose I did look like I had Leo Sayer in a headlock with my thighs, so I decided to order a new trimmer and brush up on my topiary. At first glance the trimmer looks a bit scary. The bladed teeth look like they could split open a wrinkled scrotum like a soggy bean bag, but I needn’t have worried. With the guard installed your gentleman sausage etc are very well protected. The guard has 20 (yes, 10) different length settings. I originally thought it was based on the length of your bludgeon cudgeon but this is not the case. It’s actually for the length of your hair. Mine was a bit unkempt and straggly and looked like Don King in a wind tunnel, but this bad boy dealt with it no problem.I now boast a rather fetching au naturale style, and apart from being a little cold and looking like the last turkey in the shop, it’s a lot tidier and the missus won’t complain about choking on a stray pube ever again. I am also looking forward to not combing dried up gentleman relish from my nether thatch.Apparently it also works on your head, but I use the wife’s ladyshave for that, as she uses my disposal Bic razors to do her moustache and lady garden.Highly recommended. It charges quickly in case you are in a rush and need a quick trim before you get company. It also comes with a handy instruction manual in Spanish, Mandarin and Russian.

The Panasonic Wet and Dry ER-GB52 clippers are excellent. In the box you get the rechargeable clippers; with two heads - one rounded which is great for manscaping, the other is pointed which is better on your bear or scalp as it lifts your hair. Both have the same depth and are adjusted by an easy to use and understand control system - your turn a dial and get a hair length between 1 and 10 millimetres in 1/2 mm intervals. This is far simpler to understand than clipper length 1 or 2 or 3. There is only one other control the power button. In the hand its helped by a grippy rubberised section; which is handy if you use the trimmer in the shower. Most importantly regardless of where you use them the clippers didn't pull hair in use.The manual suggests you lubricate the blades after each use; and a small bottle of mineral oil is provided to help with this; along with a small brush to Clean them - it helps you can remove the clipper head and just run under a tap though. Once used you can dock in the recharger - unbelievably it takes 8 hours to fully charge it.For trimming beards, the hair on your head or /man/scaping the clippers are great. The cutting keeps going till the battery runs down with pulling. Its just infuriating they need so long to recharge.

My son loves this wet and dry beard trimmer. He already had a very good corded trimmer but was constantly frustrated at having to get out the extension lead out and trail cables in order to get the trimmer to the bathroom mirror. He also had a cordless trimmer, but it was a bit cheap and nasty so hardly worth using. On first using this new trimmer he was ready to throw both of the others into the bin.So, the pros and cons:Positives:- it feels good in his hands, no awkwardness when getting to trickier areas- it very simple to use, you don’t need a twenty page guide- it can be used wet or dry, so no worries about using it in the bathroom- it’s cordless so can be used anywhere and again,no worries about using it in the bathroom- it works well, giving a precise trim very quickly- it apparently works for 40 mins per charge, my so doesn’t need anything like that time, so greatNegatives - difficult to find any, but in the spirit of giving a rounded review:- it can only be charged on its stand, not via usb.- the stand needs to be plugged into a shaver point or if you don’t have one, a shaver adapterVery happy to recommend this product

I recently got banged up in HMP Brixton and ended up sharing a cell with a fella called Crazy Dave. When he went through my stuff, he was very excited to see i had an electric beard trimmer, which he immediately half inched from me and turned it into a tattoo machine. I didn't want to appear rude so i allowed it, but refused any tattoos from him. Mainly because he's off his nut on Spice most the time LOL :)I didn't really want to grow a massive beard in the nick because it might make me look like i was hiding contraband, so i bought this as a replacement, using money i had made by selling my back doors, if you get me.Not only is this an incredibly efficient and easy to use trimmer,it has no parts to lose, and cannot be classed as a weapon, as far as i know. The very best thing though, it is REALLY quiet, and that's a good thing. I don't want to wake Crazy Dave up when i'm shaving, because he murdered his last cell mate for doing that, LOL :)In summary, i'd say that this is a very good way to keep your hair trimmed if you are incarcerated, and you can use it as a side line cutting peoples hair in return for snout.Nice one mate.

I used to have a super basic Panasonic beard trimmer. It stayed sharp for the five years I had it, and always held its charge; it never malfunctioned. I therefore trust this brand. The GB-40 is a good trimmer. Plenty of length settings to choose from with no need for a ridiculous number of interchangeable guard combs. That's the beauty of having a length setting dial on the unit. The blades cut well, and a major plus point for me is how quiet this trimmer is. I've never heard such a quiet motor before. Very impressive. It's powerful and holds its charge for a long time. It's a great feature to be able to use this trimmer in the shower.Cleaning this device is a breeze and takes no time at all.I removed one star because when using the trimmer without the guard, on my neck for example, I found that the trimmer only cut my hair when I moved it in specific directions. The basic trimmer I mentioned at the start of the review could cut hair at any angle like a hot knife through butter. The GB-40 can't do this, yet I'm happy with it and use it regularly without any major issues.

I spent hours trying to find an electric hair trimmer during this lockdown phase as some are so hard to get hold of but this trimmer fit the bill for me. The general feedback in reviews of other products was that flimsy, breakable parts meant the product was unusable so having found this product with multiple 5-star reviews and the Amazon Choice label, I bought it. While it is more aimed at beards than hair (mainly due the to maximum length of 10mm on the clipper) I resigned to the buzz cut look as this was the most easy to achieve. The clipper comes with an inital charge of about 25 mins which I didn't charge because the quick start manual suggests the best charge comes from a fully empty battery. You have to apply oil to the blades before and after shaving which is very easy- you just push quite hard down on the blade head and it disengages from the device. I really like how the blade height is set with a twistable wheel in the center of the clipper which makes a satisfying click as you spin it. You can remove the blade guard by pulling it upwards to get a finer cut.

I don't usually post 5* reviews, but this one deserves it.£40 for a beard/hair trimmer that has a built-in length slider and you can also take the plastic bit off the end to have it shave even closer. So, the trimmer does from 1mm to 10mm trimming using the little slider and you can have it shave directly if you need to.It came somewhat charged out of the box and I managed to get a pretty decent shave with it. It did struggle a little bit with my extra-thick overgrown beard, but after a couple of passes, it got through and trimmed it down to a nice, manageable length.; this could have been because of the non-fully-charged battery,so I'm not docking points. It comes packaged with a little cleaning brush (best to take the plastic clipper part off the end for easy cleaning) and some maintenance oil, to help keep the blades sharp. There's not much else to say really; it's a great deal!P.S: The fact there's a spelling error on the box referring to it as a "bear trimmer" gave me a little giggle; I have notified Panasonic of this.

I'm pretty happy with the product, its resemble quality. You do have to clean and oil it each time, but its working well (much, much better than my old Phillips). One thing I would point out is that it is for short beards. My previous beard trimmer had same length of trim, however, as it was very ineffective at cutting it meant that my beard was actually cut to longer than the 7mm target length. With this one it actually achieves a very consistent cut and weirdly 10mm done well is actually much shorter than 7mm done gingerly. What this means is that I wish I'd gone for a 0-20mm model, as 10mm is shorter than I wanted. As it stands I now do 10mm,grow it out and trim it back again a couple of weeks later.I realise that I shouldn't penalise the product for being good at its job when I give it the stars. In terms of cutting it is 5 stars, the reason for marking I down is that its a bit of a pain to clean/oil and this needs to be done each time for it to cut effectively. Its a precision instrument and needs the corresponding upkeep.

This costs a bit more than numerous alternatives, but it`s an impressive trimmer; it`s not heavy, but it feels really solid and that definitely makes it better suited to the task of accurate hair removal. I think it looks pretty good too. Being able to use it wet or dry is a good feature (dry will almost always be how I use it) but the best feature is the confidence with which I could trim my bear - set to 6.5 (a random height that I guessed wouldn`t be too short) it has tidied up all the bits that were not the same length and left it feeling soft and if I may say, looking pretty sweet. The option to remove the head and have as a old-school close trimmer works for some bits of my beard too.I`ve also used it with the different head, on my chest, and that was a painless and very tidy experience too. Afterwards, there is a little oil and a little brush you can use too keep it the blade at its best. The flex is unusually lengthy, allowing the trimmer to be a distance from the plug. All told, pretty good; I like it.

First things first this trimmer comes in a very impressive presentation box, it exudes high quality and I have to say the 'out the box' experience for this trimmer is excellent. The trimmer itself is also a very sleek and attractively designed and, although this has no effect on actual functionality, the design aesthetics of the trimmer are top quality. In use I found it quite light to use and very easy to handle. The styling adjustment has to be one of the most accurate I've used, you can fine-tune your beard to any length so this is ideal for perfectionists! The finish I managed to achieve on my half-hearted and untidy beard was superb and very professional.Cleaning the device is very easy, the same as for a shaver, just run under a tap and leave to dry, nothing fiddly involved here. Overall I'm very pleased with the results this trimmer gives and, for the its price, is very good value for money.
