I got this because my Comet daypack has to go in for repair by Osprey after it somehow got cut on my last business trip to Luxembourg. As that was my only laptop bag I can't go without a bag and unfortunately they quit making the Comet in Super Blue so I could not get another. But this bag is as close to the same shade of blue and has more reflective strips. I also like the extra pockets on the straps. And I love, love, love the integrated rain cover in the base. Why more backpack companies don't do that I do not know.As I mentioned in my first sentence my other Osprey Comet is going in for their free repair. That is just awesome. Their Website to submit the repair request was painless and quick. And that justifies the added cost of Osprey. Before Osprey I had other brands but once the bag started to deteriorate it was time to buy another. Which solidified my resolve to not have to keep buying new bags. I've only had my Osprey Comet for 18 months so imagine if it was another bag I had to replace!Though this bag is not designed as a laptop bag like the Comet I think it will work just fine with my MacBook Pro w/touchbar. It is a metal case on the laptop so it probably doesn't need the extra laptop padding cheaper laptops would need. The shared, but separated, extra storage in the Excapist at the bottom may be where I can stash my change of travel clothes (on long 14+ hour flights I tend to change clothes at some point to feel fresh again) and always hated having sweaty clothes mixed in with my main compartment. The exterior mesh bag is also a nice touch and much like my Osprey Raptor (for my bike) lets me stash a wet towel so it can still dry on its own and, again, not mixed in with my stuff. The side pockets for water bottles are also mesh and have straps to tighten down. And finally there is a cinch strap at the top to help tighten down. If you ever travel on British Airways or in Africa (regardless of carrier) you'll appreciate being able to cinch the sack down so it fits in their baggage sizers at the gate. I get to laugh at the gate agents now when they ask me to put my bag in the baggage sizer and say "Eat that!" you gate agent. Nothing more satisfying than beating the airlines at their own game and taking my bags as carry-on.

I've bought 7 backpacks over the past month. I'm looking for a carry-on backpack for travel. I've tried to stay right in the hundred dollar range, give or take $20. This is the only backpack that hit every single thing I was looking for. I'm able to customize it for my fit which has been difficult to find on the smaller packs. I have scoliosis and my right shoulder can't handle much weight so I depend on the hip straps and other adjustment straps to manipulate the weight to still feel balanced without much stress on my right shoulder. The space is perfect. I have packed it for a 10 day trip and all my clothes fit inside the main compartment. 9 pair of underwear, 9 tshirts, 1 pair cargo pants,1 fleece. I also have my travel bag in the main compartment(toothbrush, toothpaste, deoderant, electric razor). My canon g7x and nexus 7 are in the secondary main pocket with chargers for my camera, phone and tablet. Hip pockets are the most space generous ones I've had for a bag this size. The shoulder strap pocket is small. My Iphone SE will fit and my Galaxy Alpha will barely and I mean barely fit. The Galaxy Alpha was as tight as it could be and I would not use it in that shoulder strap pocket. Both my phones have no cases on them so if you want to know the max that will fit in the shoulder pocket look at the dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy Alpha and that is max. The main compartment divider is going to be great once i have to start separating the dirty clothes. The pack has upper and lower compresion straps on both sides. AMA if you have questions. I have been through a lot of backpacks recently and this is it.Update: I used it walking and it felt like the bottom was cutting into my lower back. I had 20lbs loaded in and wanted most of the weight on my hips but after a couple of miles the bottom ridge had a cutting sensation in my lower back. The only way I could get it to stop was to bend forward as I walked. Regretfully I had to send it back. It was great in every other way. If you are going to use it on a bike it should be perfect.

I’m 6’4, 280lbs and I wanted a decent sized backpack to travel for work. Most backpacks feel like a child’s pack on me, but not this one. Very comfortable fit and weight seems to always be distributed evenly. I can fit laptop, iPad, notebooks, charging devices, and random work stuff in section closest to back, and also a change of clothes/toiletries in the bottom and front section if it’s only a 1 night trip which is awesome. If I’m flying or have to take a suitcase for multiple days, then all the straps tighten down to become more compact and less bulky (fits fine under the seat in front of me on flights)I love all of the smaller pockets to keep things organized. One very small gripe is that the pocket on the shoulder strap is a pretty random size. Not big enough to fit an iPhone which would certainly be the most obvious place to access it on the move, but oh well....Everything about it just feels really well made and durable from the material to the zippers, and if it did get torn up for any reason, you have that incredible no questions asked guarantee. I did A LOT of research before I bought this pack, and it’s so refreshing for something to live up to the reviews and to exceed expectations. Especially at a reasonable price point in my opinion.Bottom line is I do not use this pack as they advertise (for biking and hiking or what not), but it works perfect for me and my work travel/ personal everyday travel.

I love this bag! It is pure awesomeness! It has sooooo much space. There are two main compartments one for all your tools (comfortably fits a handheld pump) and one for all your belongings. There is a small pocket at the back for valuables and a space for laptops as well. There is the reflective cover that conceals into a pouch. There is a key pocket on the strap and two small pouches on the waist straps. In short their is plenary of space it’s rigid and so good for the back and is waterproof. It’s one floor is actually something that they sell as a bonus and it’s the ‘dirty clothes’ compartment. There is a small divider at the bottom of the main pouch that creates a small space for dirty laundry however I did not like the way it made the bag look so I removed it now this gives you a bigger main compartment but it does mean that if that second zip breaks, or you leave it open pretty much everything will fall out your bag as it did with me. However keep that zip closed and it’s a great bag.

Pack has a great feel, super light, yet durable. Only had it for a few weeks but it has everything I need for bike commuting 10 miles round trip daily in the Pacific NW. Rainfly, separate pocket for my work shoes, plus plenty of room to carry a full outfit, lunch and some other things. Best of all the hip pockets allow me to carry my keys and work access card easily so I'm not constantly taking my backpack on and off on either end of my commute. Chest pocket holds an iPhone 5s with a slimmer case just fine, but not sure it would handle much more. Two gripes: the material on the hip pockets is a little grippy, which sometimes makes my shirt ride up a little. Nothing bad, just something I've noticed.I haven't commuted with a hip-belt backpack before so maybe it's me. Second gripe is that there aren't many good colors for this pack, either somewhat bland blue/red or not-so-noticeable black. The rainfly is however a nice vibrant color with reflective strips.

I had an old Kelty Blanca 2000 I gave to my nephew and needed a replacement for. After all my research, I finally went with this Escapist. My first trip was a week on the opposite coast from where I live - including an unintended overnight stay after a lot of wind sheer, attempted landings, and a missed connecting flight (sorry I couldn’t properly visit you, Boston!). This pack held everything I needed, works well with packing cubes, fit me very well (the pack is comfortable!), and was such a pleasure to have as my only piece of luggage. The pack fit well under the seat and is so spacious! I look forward to my many trips with this pack, but after just one use, I’m glad this is the pack I ended up with. There are enough pockets to keep my things separate - headphones, sunglasses, phone, and more - and my only issue was remembering which pocket I put what item in.

The pack is definitely nice and high quality. I'm happy with the purchase and don't plan on returning it. That being said I have two main issues. One, it seems made for people with shorter torsos. In order to use the hip belt properly I have to adjust the shoulder straps to make them as long as possible. I have an average size/shape so if you are smaller this pack would fit well. The size also seems small than expected. There main compartment is split into two sections horizontally and not vertically like most packs. You can remove the divider, but with the divider in you can't utilize the space as nicely. The bladder section can fit a 13" computer but it doesn't lock down or shut, maybe just good for flights/easy access but not extensive carrying.

This bag is great for cycling. I haven't had any other cycling specific bags in the past, but this one doesn't seem to leave me feeling like there needs to be any changes. Design is great, and it feels natural on my back. When the straps are all tightened down, it literally feels like it's a part of your body. The thing I like most is that, the way the bottom synches down, it allows the bag to retain a slim, petite look. Need more room? When straps are relaxed, the bottom really opens up to accommodate a ton of stuff. I also have the Kamber 32, a ski specific bag, and just like that, this is a well designed, purpose built bag that is versatile enough to be an everyday carry bag.

I live in Colombia, here the brand of high quality, high durability and high finishes is Totto, however I wanted to change and this backpack is great, I have always been a customer of Totto and the quality is fantastic, however I wanted to try another brand and my Osprey decision was great, the quality of the materials is durable, excellent finishes, compartments for different use, I use it for my day to day work and weekends to practice cycling, the backrest is comfortable and worth the investment of what is done.It is a backpack with a lot of space inside, comes with rain cover which makes it very important when the weather changes.

I bought this bag to be super versatile for my daily needs. I needed a good day bag that was tough and allowed me to put a good amount of stuff in it. As a military that travels quite often I only use Osprey bags because of their durability and the fact I can't always count on them. I have had this bag for over 3 weeks and its been in the back of helicopters, through the jungle, and numerous other places. The only things that I wish were improved would be adding a laptop sleeve and fixing the zippers on the mid compartment. They tend to be a little hard to zip in a hurray.Overall good bag. 4.5 out of 5

We own two Osprey packs already for daily use (with computer sleeves) and a Osprey hiking pack that was handed down to us and this is another great addition to our bags. We wanted something without the laptop sleeve to provide more room for snacks, clothes changes, etc on our small hikes and day trips with kids. This is perfect. Plenty of pockets and storage. I especially like the divided pocket at the bottom for the stuff you want quickly accessible. As always the Osprey quality shows and I know we will have this bag for many years to come.

I have a two mile bike ride to and from work and the Escapist 32 s/m is perfect size for what i need and very comfortable. I bring my laptop (inside the water sleeve, gym clothes, shoes, lunch with room to spare. The separated top and bottom compartments are great for holding my shoes and dirty clothes separate. I researched a bunch of different osprey bags before settling on the escapist as it has nearly all the features i was looking for and can be used for a variety of needs like hiking, biking, gym bag, and normal backpack use.

I originally bought the 22 L backpack for cycle commuting but it was too small. This one can carry a shirt, trousers, towel and shoes fairly comfortably along with toiletries. There are 3 compartments and one of those compartments can be split in 2. They've thought of everything with this bag though sometimes the number of straps to tighten and flatten the bag can get annoying. Overall, great bag, fulfils my cycle commuting requirements and use it at the weekend too.

Best bag I've ever had. Quality is beyond my expectations, and can't recommend it enough! And considering its lifetime warranty Osprey provides for its bags. that if a stitch goes undone they'll repair or replace it free of charge. (And all stitches have a backup) Damn good value for a lifetime bag. Love it!PS: It has a bladder-pocket as well, a important feature who doesn't seem to be written anywhere as far as I can tell. Awesome feature.

I bought this pack to hike Long's Peak, and couldn't have been happier with it. The built in rain-cover came in super handy on that hike. I'm a rock climber and mountain biker, so I also really like the helmet lock strap.I'm 5'10 and 155 lbs, with a thin build, and I personally liked the M/L size of this better than the S/M, although your mileage may vary. I suggest trying both. I only wish they made a medium specific pack.
