This is one of the best inventions on the planet. Being able to play your Game Boy Advance (or classic Game Boy) games through your Gamecube is great. No more squinting at your GBA's tiny screen, and no more constant worry of 'are my batteries gonna run out out?'.The Game Boy Player sits nicely underneath your 'Cube and screws on to the bottom. Although the unit is black, it doesn't look out of place with a purple (or silver) console. It plugs into the serial port underneath, and once it's there, it can stay there. You get a start-up disc with it, which activates the Game Boy Player, which you boot up like a normal game. The Game Boy Player features a few options, but they're tid-bits really. You can have a smaller or slightly larger screen, with or without a customisable border. You can also sharpen or soften the picture, because blowing up an image that's designed to be on a 6" screen to (for example) a 28" screen will obviously cause a little pixelation. The games play in stereo through your Gamecube, and the PAL version has a 60hz mode so we don't lose any speed at all. The unit also has a link-up port, so you can still have multiplayer games. One thing you can't currently do is connect a Gamecube game (that you're playing in your console) to a Game Boy Advance title that's plugged into your Player. This would save all those 'Cube to GBA cables. It's only a minor problem mind. Another time-saver is the ability to swith cartridges without turning off or resetting your Gamecube. It's not like this idea hasn't been done before. Nintendo themselves had the Super Game Boy on the SNES, and Sega had the Master System Convertor for the MegaDrive. However, nothig has been as handy and successfull as the Game Boy Player! Nintendo have really taken alot of time over this. Highly reccommended if you own a 'Cube and a GBA and want to play your games in style! Also, if you own a 'Cube but not a GBA, but you want to experience games like Golden Sun or Sonic Battle, this is the cheap (and classy) way to do it.ONe thing I forgot to mention... Soon, certain games (usually first-party Nintedo games) will have special Game Boy Player modes, so special secrets will open up, or the game will be programmed to run in a higher resolution, so that it looks like (for example) a SNES title. One good example is the forthcoming Sonic Advance 3 from Sega. Allegedly, this will heavily feature Game Boy Player support... Here's hoping.

Fed up or squinting at that small screen on your GBA or GBA-SP, then bring the games that you have over to the big screen. Nintendo once again has brought the option of playing it's younger brothers titles on it's big brother, the Gamecube opening up a huge catalogue of games from old and new.Installing the Gameboy Player to the Gamecube is very simple as the manual that comes with it is well written and shows you how to connect it up. Coming with the Gameboy Player itself, the box comes with a Gamecube mini-disc to load up the software to play your GBA games which comes in a Gamecube style case that has a holder for a mem card and a GBA cartridge.A manual and finally a leaflet giving you 400 stars for the Nintendo VIP system is also included.Starting it up, can't be simpler, just insert your GBA cart into the player, insert the Gameboy player CD and away you go. Loading time is instant as well. You have the options of changing the size of the screen, a choice of 20 background images to use that surround the GBA game image. Picture quality is excellent, even on a 32" widescreen television. Playing with the Gamecube controller takes a while to get used to but you can connect your GBA to control the game that way using the GBA to Gamecube adaptor lead. You can also connect up to three other GBA's to the Gameboy player to play in 4 player mode. Sound quality is just as good as listening to the GBA via headphones and stereo sound is crisp and clear. All in all, the Gameboy player is useful for playing your favourite games on the big screen while at home in comfort and leaves your GBA to take over when you are out and about. If you have a Gamecube and a Gameboy, colour or GBA, then I would recommend getting this little addon as it gives you a option to play 2 player gameboy games together. And for the price of a new Gamecube game, it's good value for money since you are getting a proper Gameboy Advance without the screen. The Gameboy Player has the usual addon ports with the Link Up port at the front.Nintendo have brought out a cheap way to bring your Gameboy games to the big screen and have brought out a high quality addon to the Gamecube. If you have both or even if you have a Gamecube and want to play GBA games. You won't go far wrong in getting this to add a lot more choice to your gaming choice.

This thing is great. The actual installation took under two minutes. I've got a selection of about 25 GBA, GBC and original Game Boy games, and all of them work perfectly. In most cases, playing GBA games on a GameCube is far better than on a GBA. The games play exactly the same, yet look fantastic on a TV. I can pick up graphical detail that I just couldn't make out on a GBA screen. But there are several things you should be aware of...(1) Using the GameCube's control pad. Theoretically you can use either the analog or digital pads on the GC controller, but as you will also be using the L button, the D-Pad is not really accessible unless you have huge thumbs. In most cases the analog pad is better than a D-Pad,as it's more comfortable. But there are exceptions: if you have to double-tap a direction, or you instinctively feel you should have analog control over the game (eg. Super Monkey Ball Jr). In these cases, while gameplay is still possible, the GC controller doesn't make it as easy.(2) The GB Player does not offer any of the facilities that the GBA-GC cables do. This is despite the fact you can plug GBA games directly into the Gamecube, and can also connect a GBA to the GB Player! I found this really annoying, and I think Nintendo have made a huge mistake here. (This means you can not use a GB Player to call Tingle in Wind Waker, Connect Metroid Prime to Metroid Fusion, or connect the Animal Crossing games or Sonic games, for example).(3) The top and bottom of the screen in not used. This is understandable, since the GBA screen is a different size to a TV. But when you play GBC or original Game Boy games, they appear as they do on the GBA - with the left and right parts of the GBA screen cut off. What you end up doing is looking at a small square in the middle of your TV, with huge border of wasted space all around it!Playing most Game Boy games on your TV will be great, and I do think this product is really good. I simply warn you not to believe they are a perfect and complete answer to linking and playing any and all GBA games!

Super fast deliver, brillant condition and pure nostalgia.Ever since I played my first Gameboy game I wanted to play my games on my TV. I knew there was a way but I didn't own a Gamecube as a kid. After picking up a cheap Gamecube last year, I waited around to see a Gameboy Player and at long last, I finally own one.Inside a jiffy pack was the GB Player itself and the start up disk (required to run the GB Player)in a nice little Gamecube box meaning I can put the disk away safely on my shelf. The system I reccived appeared to be barely used and the disk seemed unmarked. The system is very easy to fit so within 10 minutes I was all set up and playing Super Mario Land 2.The GB Player has a eject button that pops out games no problem and with the added 'Change Game Pak' option this means you can change Game Paks without turning off the system. You can change the frame around the game your playing, I use the space themed frame as its black but still has some colour. Other frames include various Gameboy systems, a denim pattern, robotic metal and many more. You can change the filter to make games sharper or softer. With either option, games are just brighter and more colourful. This means you can really appreciate Gameboy Advance and Gameboy/Gameboy Colour games in their full beauty. Using the Gamecube controller feels suprisingly natural and offers more movement. Going back to a small screen feels a little strange after using the GB Player! In conclusion, this is the ultimate system for any hardcore Gameboy fan and the best thing is...it actually makes the more cuboid shaped Gamecube into a cube shape!

The Game Boy Player is essentially just a Game Boy Advance with a much larger screen, but allows you to do so much more. The unit fits right under your GameCube console, so it takes up no unnecessary space. Simply insert a game cartridge into the slot on front of the Game Boy Player and you’re ready to go. You can choose between two screen sizes and twenty borders around it. You can also use a regular Game Boy Advance (Or Game Boy Advance SP) as a controller, or if you’re feeling particularly adventurous, a GameCube controller or a WaveBird for long-range comfort. The Game Boy Player can hook up to other Game Boy systems for multiplayer,so up to four friends can all play together on the big screen if they want. The Game Boy Player has very few drawbacks. Sadly, you can’t connect it to a GameCube game on the same console for connectivity features, since you can’t use both your GameCube and your Game Boy Player at the same time. Also, game cartridges that feature sensors (Motion or sunlight, for example) will not be compatible with the Game Boy Player. All in all, the Game Boy Player is an excellent way to play Game Boy games at home, although if you already own a Game Boy Advance SP you might want to think twice before spending your money on it.

People have often said that the gameboy had its faults with it not being able to be played in the dark, and even in the light (as the light is reflected back off the shiny surface and into the player's eyes). When the gameboy SP came out the games could be played in the dark however the other problem still arose. BUT now both problems can be fixed. With this new accessory to the gamecube gameboy games, gameboy colour games and gameboy advance games can be played on the television. Not only does this mean that one can enjoy the games being played on a full large screen but one can also enjoy the decorative barriers that surround the game adding to its collective interest. When the N64 rolled around, gamers could use Pokemon Stadium and Pokemon Stadium 2 along with the transfer pack and play Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow, Gold, Silver and Crystal on a T.V. The flaw to that was that trading wasn't possible. However now multiplayer games can be initiated with your friends and rival to become the king of the gamecube. And who would have thought that this would have cost only around £40. For this price that can argue that this piece of hardware, the gameboy player, is one of if not the best piece of hardware that has been released for gamecube this year.

What an excellent idea! with this wonderous piece of hardware you are able to play all your favoirite GBA, GBC and Origional gameboy games on your gamecube without making the image on the screen seem distoted, blurry or in low rez etc.Basicly this is a one inch thick pice of hardware that clips into the bottom of your gamecube and lets you play handheld games. but theres more to it than that. This allows you to link up to four gamecubes (with four gba players and four T.v`s)and play amazing multiplayer games. All you need is a GBA to GBA link cable for every two GBA players you link up.At amazon this product is only £35 and comes pakaged with a disk which is needed to play the GBA player every time. For this price it would be a shame not to buy one, and for those of you who like this sort of thing, there are plenty of things to play around with (frames, picture size etc)Some of you who do not like the prospect of handhelds, this is some kind of godsend and for others who have been putting off forking out £90 for a GBA SP this is the one for you.The only negative thing i can think of is the inability to play games which have rumble packs, light sensors and cameras etc, but other than that this is a gamecube owners must have.

This one of the coolest things Nintendo has released for the Gamecube this year. It enables you to play Game Boy games (every kind) on a big screen! The Game Boy Player attaches to your Gamecube through the hi-speed port, so you won't have to remove the modem or broadband adaptor to play.As well as playing Game Boy games on your Gamecube, you can get different backgrounds to go behind the game as you are playing the game for a new look, there is also a timer to tell you how long you have played or when to get off.The coolest thing about it is that it has a link port to link to other Game Boys or other Game Boy Players (but I haven't tried it with other Game Boy Players yet). This way I can invite my friends over to my house and we can have multiplayer Mario Kart while I play on a large screen and they have to play on tiny ones!I really like this product because before when you were playing games on the Game Boy, you had to squint to see some of the pictures and you could never get the right amount of light and now since you are playing on a big screen, you have none of those problems!

The Gameboy player may appear to just be an inch-thick slab of plastic to make your "gamecube" into an actual cube, but it is so much more, this nifty little device allows you to enjoy thousands of Gameboy Advance,Gameboy Colour and original Gameboy games on your TV allowing larger images and reducing eye strain caused by staring at the small sized screen of the handheld. The Gameboy player slots into the base of your Gamecube via the high-speed port and is very easy to set up, and providing you have some Gameboy games (Not included) you'll be playing in a matter of minutes, enjoying the benefits of a well lit larger screen. There are a few slight problems caused by enlarging the Gameboy's games to fit on a TV screen such as blurring or a pixelated effect, thankfully the Gameboy Player has a built in screen filter which can sharpen or soften the image depending on the type of image you prefer.Overall the Gameboy player is a fine addition to your Gamecube and allows you to enjoy your Gameboy games on your TV and even connects to a Gameboy advance to allow multiplayer games.

Tired of getting eyestrain from too many hours squinting at the GBA? Or perhaps the small screen size put you off getting one in the first place? Either way, the Game Boy Player is for you.Set up is fast and simple (clear instructions included). The first time you play, you'll be surprised at how bright and clear the picture is (there is a little loss of resolution, but the picture quality is still very good), and play is much easier with a decent sized controller to hand. Almost all GBA, GBC and GB games can be played, massively opening up the range of games available to Gamecube owners. You can also link up with a GBA for 2 player action (follows the same procedure as linking 2 or more GBA's).Of course, the downside is the loss of portability, but on the whole, it's worth it to actually be able to see the screen properly without having to set up some complicated lighting arrangement. If you enjoy Gameboy games, or want to get a little more use out of your Gamecube, investing in a Game Boy Player is definitely the way to go.

The Game Boy Player is a brilliant piece of kit from Nintendo. Offering a full-screen display, you will no longer have to strain your eyes to see your games. Even if you do have a GBA SP with its backlight, it isn't a touch on the Game Boy Player. Also, it will save money on batteries. If you already own a GBA or GBA SP, then you can have two-player battles, with you on the TV and your friend with the GBA. Just remember that for games that keeping yourself to yourself is required, like Pokémon, then you may not want to have the TV, but for F-Zero and Mario Kart it isn't as much of a problem. You are able to control the Game Boy Player for any of the four GameCube ports,so for Advance Wars or AW2 you can play four-player on the one screen without any controller swapping. All in all, this will make a worthy addition to your GameCube, especially if you have a GBA already. And it helps with the height of the Gamecube (so it almost is a proper cube shape)

Worth your money? Well that all depends on the type of person you are. If your the kind that only plays their Gameboy on the way to school/work, then there is no point in you getting this. However, if llike me you like playing your gameboy every where ( including home) then you NEED this. No more craning your neck downwards or holding your arms awkwardly, all you have to do now is look up at your television screen. Yes, at first it feels weird playing a GAMEBOY game on your T.V but its very easy to get used to. Also with a better view you can look at your surroundings more which help ALOT in platformers.I would have given it 5 STARS but the fact that it wont appeal to everyone brings it down a notch.Nevertheless an EXCELLENT buy.

As I've owned my fair share of Gameboys and their games - I thought purchasing the Gameboy Player would be a perfect addition for my little collection. The Gameboy Advance is very good on the move, but in the comfort of my own home - a 28" Widescreen version has got to be an added bonus - what's more the translation to big screen does not really affect the quality of the picture(it reminded me of the SNES). Added to this the funky borders and the extra quality in the sound (the Gameboy Advance SP's little speaker does no justice)and you've got an excellent piece of equipment. So while I wait for MarioKart: Double Dash I can play the Advance Version now, in comfort with a wavebird - Lovely!.

The fact that there is such a product as a device that allows you to play your gameboy games and gameboy advance games on a 42inch 1080p TV and a big cinema system is in my opinion, probably the greatest thing since sliced bread. It brings an entirely new replay-ability to your games wether you play them everyday or haven't played them for years. I was amazed at how good it looked on such a big screen. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. This really is completely amazing.Little kids and big kids alike make sure you ask Santa for one and be good all year it'll be worth it!!!
