This router is sturdy. Its metal!. Its an 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch (One is uplink so 7+1) is a versatile, easily configurable network switch designed gaming and 4K media streaming as well as basic network connectivity such as file sharing. It has low latency, port prioritization with Quality of Service settings. Also important is the port bonding so you can connect a high end NAS box and get faster speeds. It can all be configured from a browser or phone. I use IOS (Apple) and it works fine both ways.So if you need a super fast 8 port Gigabit switch with lots of features. This may be it. It was the best one I could find. I'm happy with my choice.

I will have to admit that I was a toss-up between this one and Netgear life time warranty that was cheaper. To be honest with you as a security person at heart and a gamer. I really like this one. The Nighthawk switch really does a great job and factoring in being able to give priority to gaming is a huge win to me. For example my computer had priority over my wife's computer because I was gaming and she wasn't se it throttle hers down and gave me more pass through for latency. To be honest with you I'm really considering getting the whole Nighthawk family for my networking. It is a really great product line.

I was having trouble with my WiFi router and the number of devices connected to my network. I decided to wire all my video game consoles for a better online gaming experience.After I bought this Switch and hook it up with my WiFi router I did a speed test and everything looked faster.But internet speed is not all matters in online gaming. I tested all the games that I play often on all consoles and all my PING numbers were considerably smaller. The setup is plug-and-play, but you can visit the settings page on your brownser to tweek some adjustments if needed.

I have to say, for me Stealth Mode is where it is! I use this device in my bedroom and flickering lights is a pain when trying to sleep! Stealth Mode takes care of that! Stealth Mode only turns the LED lights to my connections and the LED light for the unit itself off. Both are independent of each other! I can turn one or the other or both! Of course, I use the Gaming Mode when using my XBOX ONE X... and it puppy has several other pre-sets depending on what your needs are! Awesome well thought out device!

So far my ethernet switch has been working great for all purposes. Whether it be checking connections, prioritizing speeds, or diagnosing any initial problems it exceeds expectations. To put it simply, it is fast, has a plethora of utilities for an Ethernet switch, and is very versatile. I especially appreciate the ability to customize the port prioritization as opposed to being limited to the presets. This switch has been extremely useful for me and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

This advanced switch greatly improved the quality and speed for my 4K UHD television, wifi audio components, gaming platform, media server and and my desktop pc. I upgraded to 1 Ghz internet streaming across the board with the Netgear switch and better Cat 7 ethernet cables. The switch does a fantastic job of prioritizing each channel according to my needs. The switch's small size also fits in nicely with the blu-ray player and cable box. Excellent job of design on this one Netgear!

From first look at Cylon looking sleek zinc-alloy housing to hefty weight when first picking-up the box. I was impressed by professional construction of this solid router. From providing a ultra-high performance smooth, lag-free connection with User-friendly one-click optimizable presets for expert gaming, 4K media streaming or standard networking. You can also control the LEDs to display port status and activity. Bottom Line an absolute Awesome addition to any Home Network.

I was looking for a way to harness the power of my internet connection equally in all my entertainment areas of the home. My home came pre wired with ethernet hubs in each room but I needed a switch to activate them all. Enter the Nighthawk S8000. Now that all ports are active we get better streams on all TVs and best of all a dedicated gaming port that will give it priority over other ports if needed. My only regret is not buying this device earlier.

Super simple plug and play. Setup took nothing and things were streaming flawlessly. Manages multiple gaming streams easily. The back-end allows for more manipulation over priorities and speed levels to ensure locations/devices receive the right amount of allocated speeds. You will not find a better un-managed gaming switch at this price. Netgear is slowly replacing all of my Linksys products because of their easy setup and high-quality.

Have used other gigabit switches and the Nighhawk S8000 has not had any issues with losing connections with any of my smart hubs and devices. My home is very heavy on streaming and normally has minimum of two devices streaming HD. I use Wi-Fi extenders and run Cat5 to those extenders back to my S8000 providing fast and quality to all 3 of my Entertainment Systems without any noticeable video degrading as I noticed with other switches.

This is a great switch. When paired with my Linksys WRT32X router, I'm getting the fastest speeds on speedtests I've ever gotten. Now when I play Street Fighter 5 and it's lagging, I know it's not me. My ping and jitter are excellent so it has to be the other guy. Getting great ping times in good ole Battlefield 4 also. I give this switch 8 stars. It's easy to setup and easy to use.

Its a really cool switch. Functionally it is just a normal 8 port switch with a web managed interface, and it works fine in that regard. All my devices connect easily and transfer speeds are as expected. Setup was pretty simple too. Although there's not much functionally to gain over a normal switch, you have to give credit for the style points over boring networking gear boxes.

Recently bought this unit. And so far, I am in love with it. It works so great. Plus I didn't want to run multiple ethernet cables from my router to the room. I bought this. Ran 1 cable from router to switch. Then had a couple short cables connected from the switch to the gadgets. It works awesome!! I love this unit so much, I highly recommend it, for sure.

The Nighthawk S8000 is a highly flexible ultra high speed switch that is capable of being programmed for the users special gaming or streaming home network needs. The interface is very easy to customize compared to switches used in most advanced applications. It has 8 one gig ports that even allow higher speeds through port aggregation.

My last Netgear product was a disappointment (C7100V Gateway). But this Nighthawk S8000 switch works like a charm. Easy to configure and manage. It also looks like something out of Star Wars (that's a good thing). The LEDs or are controlled (on/off) within the GUI. I like that I can prioritize network traffic running through it.
