I have only recently bought this so can't comment on the long term reliability. But it is very solidly built and has a great "quality feel" to it. Most usefully, it came with two small screws for mounting (using a couple of "key holes" in the base of the unit) which I have used to mount it on a wall in a cupboard which keeps it neatly out of the way. (Before buying I compared with similar products from other well known suppliers and this had more features and slightly lower power-consumption - at a competitive price.)

Gee its good. I was using a simple 8 port TP-LINK switch that was ok until I noticed poor download speeds and drop offs. I guess it was just being worked too hard. This D-Link unit is fantastic by comparison. No degradation in speed with all but one port in use. Very little else I can say. This product has been well reviewed by the more technically minded so all I can add is that for the money its got to be the best of its type on Amazon. 100% satisfied with this product.

Product does what is is supposed to do and I thought the price was good value. The only thing you need to be aware of is that the led indicators are on the same side as the cable sockets, the psu connection is on the other side so it is not as neat as having a simple front panel with led indicators and all connections on the rear panel per designs from other manufacturers. Other than that the product is fine and good quality.

Great little box, it has colour codes green and yellow light for signals transmitting at up to 1000mb or 100mb feeds. The box is also eco friendly and will draw <1w for lan cables connected but not carrying traffic.. nice touch.I highly recommend this switcher for those who have upgraded to virgin 100mb + broadband for their home. Loook no further.

No complaints, it does what it says on the box! Looks good too. Buyers should note that all the connections are made on the front of the unit. If you're replacing an existing unit that had the cables going to the back (like I was) you may need to re-arrange the location on your desk-top and you may need longer network cables. Otherwise, it's great!

Great unit, does the jobAs others have reported, the power lead is at the rear and cables connect on the front.This can be a challenge depending on where you plan to use the unit. For me not an issue as its in a storage cupboardJust plug your cables into it and off you go. I have several of these and so far so good at a very competitive price

Got the 5 port version of this and had three of us pentesting through it this week. Pretty much 24/7 nmap scans from one machine (T4) and 2 of us scanning in daytime with base PC and VM. Performed solidly, didn't notice any issues and the port activity indicators were really handy. Stayed cool, no problems. Just bought the 8 port for home.

Perfect for setting up your home wired network from Tv's to Pc's and Xbox consoles , no more flaky wifi for us.Flawless and effortless installation , especially good for the Consoles as their connection is now super stable with no lag making the kids gaming much more fun , Tv streaming is also MUCH better.Highly recommended

Fanless 8 port PoE for a decent price. Can't fault it, but I might be temped with the cheaper TP Link model that has come out since. At £60 for a dumb switch with no management, trunking, linking etc I still feel overly ripped off for the PoE functionality.

Great device and extremely low power consumption, measured to be using just 1 watt of electricity in normal usage. Network throughput much faster than the Netgear device is replaces. Also supports wall mounting, which I've done using a couple of screws.

Great bit of simple hardware - always on never a problem in over a year of use. Would recommend for any home setup or small buisness - been used to connect up a bunch of different home computers and NATs all running at a solid throughput.

Have a eight way main D-link unit as the first stage, so I bought this as an extension unit to hard wire my living room units. Very impressed, no problems fitting and wiring everything in, and it all works first time.

It works perfectly. It is fast and automatic.It is small enough to be unobtrusive. You can fix it on the wall.Because it has a metal casing, I fixed mine with two small magnet under my desk. Perfect.

Great value for money and I have trust in D-link, and it's fanless which is nice.BUT it does use an outboard power brick, which is a shame. Would prefer an IEC mains plug at the back.

Sorted out my network replacing 2 8 port switches and thus enabling me to tidy up the cabling. It performs just as well as my former HP Procurve switches, good product.
