I ran out of ports on my 8-port ZyXEL desktop gigabit switch so I had to look for a replacement - which meant finding a 16-port desktop switch. Daisy chaining another 8-port switch to the first would have been much cheaper but would have used an extra power socket, and more importantly would not offer the same capability (all 7 sockets on the second switch would have to share the one gigabit link between the switches).On paper most of the 16-port switches have very similar specs, but the ZyXEL was the most compact I could find (and in my opinion was the best looking). This is a great POE switch which is ideal if you are setting up POE WI-FI access points or POE CCTV cameras.This switch is POE 802.3af compliant and allows you to connect up to 8 POE devices and 8 network devices at 100Mb/s. Note you can connect non-POE devices to the POE ports as the switch can tell if the device needs POE or not.The unit comes with a rack mounting kit and with the ports and lights at the front is great for installing in a network rack.The cons on this unit area) It is only 100Mb/s which was fine for what I needed and an equivalent gigabit switch was much dearerb) As pointed out previously this baby is noisy. I have had small 4 port POE switches that were silent before and I knew this had fans buts it is much louder than I thought.

I bought this switch to replace a Netgear GS108 which had all ports filled and I needed one more connection. I did not need the managed capabilities so I plumped for this Zyxel GS1100-16. I've had previous experience with bigger Zyxel switches in an office environment and found the brand to be well built and reliable.This GS1100-16 switch is very good indeed. Works well, is compact and energy efficient: It runs slightly warm (as opposed to the Netgear which ran very warm). I measured its power consumption when idle at 2.5 Watts, rising to 4.5 Watts with 8 active connections. Being fanless it is totally silent,

I bought this 16 port unit, ZXEL GS1100-16, to replace my previous 8 port ZyXEL switch, as I needed another connection in my home office!It works perfectly for me, hence the five star review. I've noticed no performance degradation with this new unit, and no freezing at all.As a bonus this unit comes with the parts to either rack mount it, wall mount it or simply sit it on your desk. I put the four little round rubber stickers on to sit it on my desk. Switched it on and job done!

Good quality construction, easy to use, in-built power adapter is a good feature, no external power brick to store, comes with feet for desk use or rack mounting parts, plug in the networking cables and turn on the power (there are 2 power switches, one from the power socket and one to turn on/off the actual unit.) and it works well.

Excellent Ethernet switch. Unboxed it, plugged it in, connected a patch cable to the router and 14 outgoing cables to various points around the house and boom! Max internet speed in every room.Couldn’t have been easier.Very pleased with this.

Maybe I'm a bit of geek but I used this to replace 3 old routers in my house that had built up over the years. Perfect replacement much neater with no external power supplies needed. Fire and forget basically.

I needed 10 for my network. A big jump up from a 8 switch. Could have got 4 8 port switches for price but paid to have all in one. Lost a star for the high price. Works great though.

Silent, compact; just gets on with the job without fuss and bother. Plugged and prayed! Didn't need to. Just set itself up and everything working in about 15 mins. Great.....

Very pleased with the unit. Good price, unmanaged, so no set up issues. Just plug and play. I used this on a telephone system install. Works really well. Would buy again.

Excellent, I replaced a Cisco Small Business Switch with this and I've noticed a considerable improvement in performance of the network. Really pleased with the product.

Bought this for our house to replace an old 8port switch, Pleased with the speed it gives and the latency is low.No issues as of yet with it.This is fanless too.

I used the switch as the main switch in a small office, and it works very well indeed. No fuss - just plug it in, connect the network cables and off you go.

Reliable and handles VLAN tagging. Great with the ZyXEL NWA1123-AC wireless access point. Silent too!You can also use the 4 x POE ports for non-POE items

ZyXEL is always good kit. Not the lowest cost but consistenly good stuff.I plugged it in and forgot about it.The PoE is in use for my WiFi and VoIP
