For PoE you basically just prioritize 1 to 4 in terms of your power requirement, and that's it, it does the rest and allocates whatever electrical supply is needed on an as-it-needs basis. Something with a 15w rating may only need a smaller supply and so-on. It's 100% simple and straightforward, my first time with an unmanaged switch, and would probably buy again. I bought cuz majority of my devices are netflix but given no web management required, no need to stick to one brand if you're going with an unmanaged switch.

Ideal inexpensive desktop unmanaged switch with PoE for those devices that require it.Normal Netgear minimalistic (and eco-friendly) packaging. The switch has an external power supply and is non-rack mountable. Powers Slicecom PoE VoIP phones without issue.Attains full duplex gigabit bandwidth on all 8 ports, tested using large and small files.Not much else to say really, other than it's pretty much faultless.

This review is for the NETGEAR GS308P 8-port switch with 4 PoE sockets. I originally purchased the ZyXEL ES1100-16P, but this was very noisy, so decided to go for this switch since it is silent running (not fans) and compact. Simple to setup and does the job well. I'm currently running two Cisco WAP121 access points using the PoE ports. For additional ports I hooked this up to a GS308; no crossover cable needed.

I have always used Netgear and have never been disappointed. I am using this for my CCTV system setup. I currently have two POE cameras attached and it works seamlessly. No setting required, fit and forget.Great value for money at £45. Hopefully it will last as many years as all of my other Netgear kit. Would recommend to anyone looking to setup a small CCTV system for their house.

Bought for an IP camera, plugged in and just works. Can't ask for more, has been rock solid and runs cold. Some have complained it doesn't fit into a rack... why would it, it's smaller than a VHS tape if you remember those, typical SOHO size so it would need some big chunks of plate to bridge a 19" gap. Just a shame it only supports POE on 4 ports, 7 would have been great for CCTV,.

I bought this to power some wireless access points. As always with Netgear, I got a consistent, reliable connection at a good price. Simply plug it in and you're good to go. An all metal housing makes this a quality piece of equipment that will stand the test of time delivering gigabit speeds to connected devices.

Love Netgear stuff. Been working in I.T. for over 25 years and I've never had a Netgear product fail on me. Purchased this to cater for a couple of IP handsets so the PoE appealed, if anything to reduce the need for power packs. Works a dream and delivers upto 1Gb speeds. Great for a small home LAB or network.

Great product for home networking. 8 ports is enough and the PoE means that I could wire two access points into the network without needing to plug them into a separate power source. Furthermore, I have the remaining two POE ports to expand my network by adding two IP cameras for security in the future:)

This is a third purchase of the same device and am extremely pleased with these switches. Two have been running for over 3-4 years now and not a single issue. I also installed 3 24/48 port for my client and same story - they just work. I have not tested PoE yet as I have no device to do it.

Great little switch, solid metal body, completely silent, it just works. Netgear used to have a bit of reputation for cheap plasticky tat, but in recent years they've produced some really good quality kit for good prices. I also have the PoE model of this switch which is equally excellent.

I use this to connect my CCTV cameras to. In can only power 4 cameras but that is all I have so no problems. The switch stays quite cool and there is no noise from it.I would have preferred if it was a managed switch but for this application that doesn't really matter.

Plugged the switch in, plugged in my UniFi Nano HD - powered up no problem. Plugged in my UniFi cloud key - powered up no problem. All working flawlessly since. Would highly recommend. Just be aware this does NOT support 24v passive POE for the AP AC Lite.

No VLAN support. For the price you would expect it ti support 802.1q but it does not. Other than that, a solid switch, well made and multi port transfer speed tests yielded consisted Gigabit LAN transfer speeds over 80 meters of CAT5 cabling

Great quality switch. Being unmanaged there is no setup involved and the PoE ports just work as expected. I have PoE cameras and several other devices connected to this switch all running smoothly on a gigabit network. No complaints at all.

Very solid device for extending your number of LAN ports. Good manufacturer, agree with all of the reviews made previously. Great having PoE options, works instantly out of the box - What more could you want?
