My house has gaming consoles, smart devices, phones, computers, and so on running all throughout the day (In fact I currently have 16 devices connected, and that is with quite a few of them currently offline). Our last router was not cutting it due to the high traffic, so we decided to upgrade. Even during my house's peak time download speeds remain constant and video streaming websites load much better. I should also note that all my gaming consoles are now reporting open NAT types and overall have a much better connection. HOWEVER, there is one major issue I would like to address. As of 12/30/19 there appears to be a connection bug that causes the router to disconnect from the internet and result in a reboot being needed. At first I thought it was something on my end, but after doing research there are MANY others with this issue. While no exact cause can be determined, it is highly believed that it is due to the firmware. I would love to give this router a 5-star review, but this issue is just too much to ignore. Once Netgear releases a fix, without a doubt this router deserves all 5 stars.

My previous router for comparison were two AC7800 routers serving the front and rear of the house (due to extremely thick dividing walls killing the signal front to back). The RAX80 somehow manages to overcome the issues with signal strength even with the 5G band. Xbox games are playable without lag on the 24G over the whole house, and I can connect all my devices to 5g (3x 4k tvs, 4x xbox1, bunch of teenagers on smart phones, work laptops and streaming devices) without any lag on streaming services or games. It's a huge upgrade. I recently added an EX3000 access point as a wired device and ran 3 further devices (pc, games console and stream video) across it without issue.Internet speeds are just under 400Mbps download and 40Mbps upload with a ping of 9ms! The new nighthawk app is very good also, once you find the settings menu (top left icon), and allows me to switch between and control locally or remotely all network devices. Smart set up is fantastic allowing me to grow the network and optimise without needing much network skill. Netgear are the best!Read full review...

NETGEAR’s Nighthawk WiFi Extender EAX80 has been an excellent addition. For years, I have struggled with poor signals in the room that I initially wanted to turn into an office. I tried a number of devices, but none seemed to keep a steady internet connection so I had to settle putting my office elsewhere. With NETGEAR’s EAX80 Extender, I am not only able to connect in this dead WiFi zone, but I am also able to enjoy fast internet speeds that not only allow me to work comfortably, but also enhances the area with additional connectivity for my household’s various mobile devices. Installing the EAX80 Extender was also quick and convenient using NETGER’s app on my smartphone.Compared to the cost of what a typical internet service provider charges you to provide you with panoramic WiFi service, I also found the EAX80 Extender to be considerably affordable.

I've been upgrading or replacing my routers every year for the past 6 years and this has to be one of my favorites. I used to work for the second largest cable company for that entire time as well, and this is way better than what they offer in terms of wireless service. I always recommended customers buy their own router instead of leasing one from the cable company. The user interface for the GUI is very easy to use as always. The Nighthawk also makes remotely accessing your router outside of your network very easy. Easy one of the best dual band routers I've used in the past 3 years, much better than the X10 with almost equivalent range. My house is 1800 sq feet and my router is centrally located and coverage is great.5/5 would definitely recommend for medium to large size homes, as well as two story houses pending it is central to the house.

I will never claim to be a computer guru. Nursing is my game! However, our Lindsey’s router we had for many years finally pooped out. This household is not a gaming or large downloading one. We do however have a rancher that is long and the router is located on one side of the house in our “frog”. I went out and was convinced at one of the bigger computer stores to buy another brand of router. After taking it home and setting it up, it would disconnect from our phones numerous times within the house to the point that we paid extra on our phone bill because of having to use more data on our plan. I did some more research and came across this AX6000 (RAX80) router.Boy was I surprised at the ease of set up and the coverage area it has provided. I even walked about 300 feet away from the house and was still connected. That says it all for me.

I connected this extender to the RAX120 via the Netgear app and after many speed tests, reinstalls, and attempting different locations I could not get the speeds I was hoping for. In fact, I didn't even had full mesh 5ghz coverage around my 3100 sq. ft. home. My Samsung Note 9 kept on getting sent to the 2.4 Ghz frequency as well with slower than expected speeds. After some research in miscellaneous forums, I ran into a similar scenario to mine where using of the SMART SETUP installation via a windows based computer fixed the problem. I think the app installation makes it easy and faster but using your computer and the Smart Setup is definetely the best option that gave me the results Iexpected.I have now only positive things to say about this EAX80 extender that in conjunction with the RAX120 they're a force to be reckoned with.

I recently installed this router to replace my Linksys WRT 3200ACM just because I felt like it. I have realized about 70-100Mbps better speed while wired in. As for the wireless feature I have better signal strength realized throughout my house with the avg being about 2 extra bars of strength out of 5. The capability to wrap the 2.4 and 5.0Ghz channels into a single band is a neat feature especially when you have something like a printer connected on the system. It always seemed like I needed to be on the same band as the printer to get it to work in my previous setup. If you want to give priority you will need to enable the QoS protocol which seems to do the trick on allocating the bandwidth.as of 1/31/2018 I have had this installed for about a week now and it seems to be working very well so far.

I bought the AX 6000 a few weeks ago. Super excited to upgrade from my previous AirPort Extreme (7years old). I think the aesthetics of this router are amazing! However my wife made me hide it as she didn’t like the star ship look. Setup was where this product losing its stars. App was ok and kind of glitchy at the beginning. Once I got it going I noticed the speeds weren’t that great. Did some internet surfing and played with the setting to get the speeds much better. Overall my speed went up 7x with my 2018 MacBook Pro. 5G network signal has much better reach then my previous router. I use a hard drive on the USB port for my time machine backup. Works great! Haven’t had any issues once I got the setting dialed in.Overall happy with my purchase, just fell short with the setup process.

We purchased this router because ours was pretty old and never could get wifi except in the central part of our house which is approx. 2500 sq. feet and 4300 sq. ft.(framed and bricked) with covered porches and decks. With this new router, we now have wifi all over our house and 200 feet out from the front/ rear and garage doors!! Extremely happy that we made this purchase simply for the fact that there are no longer any dead spots and my teenagers can now have wifi in their bedrooms. We have no problems with the security cameras, phones, tablets, computers, and gaming systems that we push to the limits every single day! Download the netgear app...it sets up your router for you practically in 5 minutes or less. This is the monster router of all...GO GET YOU ONE!!

I am a Netgear junky all the way!!! I have been using them for yrs and I will continue. I had my last router from them for over 4 yrs and I feel it was time to upgrade. The only think I was weary about was coming from a try-band back to a dual band, but I see even BETTER performance out of this one!!! It possibly could be the processor inside and just the all around electronics, but I am very satisfied with this unit. I was up and running in under 20 mins, and that was complete setup and firmware update. I like that this router is basically future proof for many yrs ahead, with the AX protocol and what not. I hope I can get my 4-5 yrs out of this router like I do with all my other ones.AND..it look like a cool spaceship, so yeah...thats AWESOME!!! \m/

I've had many a Netgear router over the past decade and they only seem to get better every time. I haven't had any signal drops and the signal seems to be incredibly stable. Previously I had the Netgear AC1900 router, and while it was really good, there was a noticeable drop in speed after about 6 bandwidth heavy devices and streaming services. But with this router, I've had up to 12 devices connected at once, several streaming and some gaming devices, and not a single noticeable drop in speeds. I was hesitant to upgrade, mainly with the price, but after having it for a little while I'm so glad I did. My home is not too big so I didn't need the AX12 router variant, and the AX8 is perfect for me.If you get this you won't regret it.

Spendy but worth it! This router delivers as promised. As an engineer, I enjoy research so did plenty to land on this one as the best. Can't say one bad thing. The set up with the app is a super nice and easy feature that I really appreciate. We were able to eliminate an older air-mesh system because the signal is so strong everywhere in our two-story home (2000 sf/level). I wanted to future proof so it was important to include the "x" band which will replace "c/n" as technology evolves. I could see where this would be adequate for a smaller office as well. We have teenagers so it is common to have 14 devices connected which includes gaming, streaming videos, and other less intensive devices - all working great!

After years of using the modems and routers provided by the cable companies and experiencing awful connection speeds, I finally took the plunge and purchased my own equipment. I purchased this router for its WiFi 6 capabilities that way it’s useful for years to come plus a netgear modem capable of supporting a gigabit connection. The plan that I am signed up for through my ISP is for 150 MBPS. Doing any speed test and I consistently clock in at 190-215, wayyy over my plan. I’m not sure how the witchcraft behind this works, but I am more than impressed. The equipment is expensive, but if you’re like me and tired of poor connections ruining your gaming and or streaming experiences upgrade tonetgear today.

Easy to install - important to follow directions closely. Had the entry level ORBI which gave me coverage over all of the house but not capable of supporting multiple streaming devices (4 apple TVs, 4 Firesticks, 6 surveilance cameras, 5 computers). The Orbis started to choke when I installed the firesticks. Sessions dropping everywhere. RAX80 solved the problem and was alot cheaper than the higher priced Orbi. The RAX 120 may be needed in the future if I continue to add more devices. Outside of losing range across the house (can be solved by buying an extender), very happy with it. Does what it says it does and it looks like one of Darth Vaders Imperial shuttles!

I had a separate modem and router from my ISP and was disappointed with its performance. It just wasn’t able to handle all my smart devices. I left my modem alone but I replaced my router with the AX8. I have 8 smart devices, 2-5 phones, 2 laptops, 1-2 gaming systems and 1-2 TV’s streaming at any given time and I don’t have anymore connectivity issues. Previously I had to reboot my smart devices multiple times a week along with my router for things to work properly. I have had this for about two weeks now and have not had to reboot one device. The coverage is also amazing all my cameras now have a strong WiFi signal and preform much better. Great product highly recommend!
