I am a mum who has breast fed her baby for eight months now. Although I have tried to get my daughter to take a bottle with my milk in it, she just chews on the silicone teat and laughs at me. I have tried every commercial bottle on sale and like most people do I have spend a fortune buying one of every different type. I even bought latex teats in a hope that the softer material may help.I had given up hope and intended to skip the bottle stage altogether and move over to a cup, accepting that I would just have to breast feed until she became old enough to drink a good amount from a cup or beaker. Then by chance at a birthday party another Mum told me about this bottle and explained that althoughher daughter didn't have special needs it was the only bottle she could use after solely breast feeding. She also warned me of the price tag!As usual my first port of call on returning home was Amazon and then I was faced with the difficult decision of spending £24 on another bottle which might not work.It arrived promptly and that afternoon my daughter took an experimental 2oz of my milk from the Medela bottle. Hooray. The best thing was that there was no fuss, no turning the head away, no forcing it into her mouth, no crying, she just starting drinking! That evening I gave her a bit more milk and again she drank it without fuss. Now she will drink formula from the bottle happily and I am one relieved Mum.I agree with one of the other reviews about the lack of a lid. Fortunately I have a lid from the Medela breast pump set which I already had, and although this doesn't fit over the large teat I can put the teat inside the bottle and put the lid on top to keep it sterile.I have never written an Amazon review before but this has been the best £24 I have ever spent!I would love to say that all babies would take to this bottle but as we know each baby is unique. My last advice would be to watch the inventor explaining how the bottle works on YouTube as this really helps with filling the unusual teat.

I had great difficulty getting my baby to drink from a bottle. He was combination fed from the start but always seemed to be drowned with milk when I used other bottles until I found this one which let him go at his own speed, like from the breast, and let you increase/decrease the speed of flow if there is too much or too little milk coming out vs how quickly they are swallowing. It's very expensive, but it was worth it to have a more relaxing feeding time. The main drawback is the lack of a lid to fit it when you go out. I inverted the teat and put the cap over the top but it isn't very hygienic when you're out to be playing with the teat before a feed and it made it tricky if the milk wasn't finished as you have to fiddle with the teat of milk to tidy it up to take home, rather than put a lid back on to put back in your bag. And the bottle does sometimes leak, usually when the baby stops for a break and the air flow valve fills with milk instead. Overall this wasn't much of a problem though (more so when using these bottles with a normal teat instead of the special needs teat)I think this really helped reduce the air gulped down because the air valve is much further away from the end of the teat than normally on bottles. My baby used this until he was about 5 months when I decided he was old enough to learn how to use a normal teat, as I was less worried about colic and him taking in too much air while he got used to it.I am glad this exists because it saved a lot of hassle but wish it was acknowledged this isn't just used for babies with special needs, sometimes just those who have trouble using bottles/teats.

Having been trying to get my breast fed baby onto a bottle for a few weeks now (quite unsuccessfully) I decided to try this bottle as it was reccommended on a TV program. I've tried her on a number of well known bottles that are supposed to mimic breast feeding, with no success. These may have worked fine if I'd started using them early on in breast feeding, but 5months down the line without much bottle feeding success at all I needed to try yet another type of bottle - one that works. I thought I'd give this a try as this also mimics the nipple but in addition, the milk is released in the same way as with breast feeding, therefore the baby doesn't have to adjust their sucking reflex. My baby took to drinking from this immediately & I can now get some respite on an evening. The bottle comes with a spare teet & valve & is relatively easy to put together & use (despite looking a little odd). I'd highly reccommend this to any other mothers needing to move over from breast feeding to the bottle. Although this bottle is quite expensive, I's say it's worth every penny!

After suffering for 4 and a half months with my baby girl and many different formulas and medication for reflux and colic, I went to a friends house and she gave me a bottle to try. I have not looked back, for the 1st time ever she finished a 5 oz bottle with out trashing around. The only one thing I will say is I went on to youtube and watched the video, as this is a very different way of feeding. I also mix the milk in a bottle then pour it in. This seems a lot of time wasting but after spending at least one hour normally feeding her this is heaven, she finishs her feed like she should do no stressed out baby (or mum) The bottles are amazing as long as you follow the correct steps you will not suffer any leaks.I am now about to order 2 more.

I bought this bottle after being recommended by the Baby Whisperer Tracy Hogg. I have combination fed since my baby was 3 days old and I didn't want her to have have nipple confusion between breastfeeding and bottle feeding. As the action is the same on this bottle as to breastfeeding my baby has successfully switched between this bottle and breast without issue. However I do have a few issues with the bottle itself. One is that it does tend to leak quite a lot which is annoying, also the bottle does not have a cap to protect the teat when you have sterilised it and want to take it out with you. Finally the bottle is only 5 ounces and not big enough for when the baby gets older.I'm now having to buy a separate medela bottle to use with this.

I love this bottle and so does my son. He willnot dribk from anything else. I had to put him on the bottle at 2 weeks for medical reasons and i did not want him to lose the ability to still suck like he was on the breast. This bottle certainly does that. He really has to work at getting the milk and he has never had colic. I love it but i also have a hate relationship with it too. Like others here it can have times were for no reason it will just leak from the lid, i have tried turning the bottle whilst feeing my child and found that this helps. All round i love this item, i just wish they did a bigger ml size as i have a hungry baby and it's very annoying having to keep re-filing bottle.

When my baby was 6 months old, she suddenly started refusing her normal bottle. I tried everything but she wouldnt have it. I spent a small fortune on different types of bottles, with a mixture of success, but she never took more than 2oz. I was initially wary about buying this bottle as i was put off by the special needs name but I am so glad I changed my mind. My little girl took to this bottle almost immediately. Yes the teat looks very bizarre and I wish there was a cap for the teat but overall this bottle has helped me and my little girl. I would heartily recommend it to anyone and my only regret is that i hadn't bought it earlier!

I bought this after seeing it on the baby whisperer tv programme. My 4 month old has refused every other bottle but this one worked! Very overpriced really but worth it as its the only one he'll use. Only releases milk when they suck so mimics Breastfeeding better than other bottles. Other reviews mention leaks but I had no prob with this. Instructions do say this can be an issue if you have the milk too warm? Only down side is no lid and only comes with 5oz bottle so need a bigger medella bottle too making it even more expensive.

Bought these on the recommendation of Tracy Hogg the baby whisperer( RIP)....in fact she gave me my first many years ago. They are expensive but were perfect for a premature baby who didn't suck very well and quickly lost energy. Brilliant also for mixed feeding as the baby easily swaps from breast to bottle. It is true that some bottles leak a bit. We found slightly un-tightening and re-tighening helped but, if it doesn't, return the bottle and ask for a new one as they are very good at what they do.

I have had to supplement with bottle feeds and didn't want to confuse my baby. This bottle is brilliant. Her wind is less thanks to the valve and she can feed at her own pace.On the downside, the bottle is quite small so can only hold 5oz at a time, meaning I have to mix the formula in another measured bottle and refill. Wish they'd make bigger bottles for older babies...

I bought this item for my granddaughter as her mum was struggling to fill her from the breast alone - she took to this bottle with no problems at all. The 3 flow stage is really good and can be used for small babies as well as the milk only arrives in the chamber when they suck. My granddaughter was 10lbs at birth and we used this to give her extra at each feed.

Out of all the bottles in the world my premature girl accepted this one! I have no clue how and why! She used to hate it and cry when you try and put bottle in her mouth! And now she cries for this bottle! Wow! Amazing product! Medela is always the best!

With this product babies will not be lazy as they were before. I use it for my baby starting from two weeks old and at the same time keep breast feeding... Strongly recommend for mums who has to work or wants little space!

My baby doesn't have "special needs" but loves this bottle. No air gets into the teat so hardly any wind and very little dribbles down her front. Pricey but worth it in my opinion. Warning it is slower than other bottles.

This bottle literally got my 7mth old down syndrome off the nasal tube which she depended on since birth. And this bottle saved her from a scheduled gastrotomy surgery! We can't be more grateful! Thank you Haberman!!
