Well, Mechanics Master 2 has finally been released, after a wait of round 2 years after it was originally announced , quite strange when the copyright info suggest it has been around since 2010 and 2011 - let's hope the sequel isn't as long in the making.MM2 follows on from the previous release although the graphics, I feel, are a little lacking and don't appeal as much as the original version. On the first few levels I have played so far, the music also seems to lack the funky atmosphere of the originalGame play (so far), seems to be pretty similar to MM1 with the exception that the top screen on the DS now just offers advice on the items chosen to solve each puzzle, and doesnt actually show a zoomed out plan of the entire puzzle like MM1 did, although this might just be the practice levels. Levels seem to take a little longer to load, but game play is good where you have to chose & place the predefined items to solve the puzzle in order to advance to the next level. Selection of the items takes a little bit to get used too, but after a while you get used to holding and sliding the stylus to select and move the object around the screen.Only around 110 puzzles are included, half of which are "classic" and the remainder are found in "drawing" mode which differs in the way that you have to draw the allowed shapes to solve the level, although I haven't tried this mode yet.For the money, and especially after waiting 2 years for the sequel, I feel there could have been more classic levels, but this is probably where the inclusion of the level editor comes into its own where you can design, and share levels that you create yourself and also have the ability to save 100 of them to the card. On the other hand, some puzzles are sneaky in how to solve them, so you can always revisit them in order to complete them faster and so get a higher points ratingI think I prefer the original over this one, but is worth buying if you like unusual puzzle games that can't be placed into set categories.
