2016 appears to be the year of the balm cosmetics wise and I'm sorry but loreal's infallible 'sexy balm' is not my favourite 'balm-colour' but this one is probably a good lipstick anyway especially in this bold formulation. The formulation is less viscous/slippery than other balms I've tried this year, it reminds me of a slightly melted crayon rather than a balm, it seems the formulation is HEAVY on the wax which is balanced with some silicones so there isn't definitive dragging on the lips, but it's not the gliding swipe of some competitors. It doesn't feel like you'r ewes ring any lip colour and there is no slippy feeling on the lips but there is a slight waxy moisture felt there when you press your lips together. The moisture lasts several hours even after the colour has faded.Colour wise Yala Yolo is a blue-toned 'Liberty' red, reminiscent of 1940s-50s starlets and if I'm honest you need flawless skin (natural or makeup) to pull it off well as it is such a vibrant colour. It is a daring colour but a but more wearable than orange toned reds for cool-skins, it's very stark against my ultra pale skin but looks stunning against peachier complexions and would look amazing on cold/blue-toned dark skins. The colour lasts longer than the sheer versions mostly because it stains the lips and thus lasted through drinks and a snack albeit muted to a stain. However, AWFUL name, 'sexy balm', its quite frankly cringeworthy at any age to say you are wearing 'sexy balm' and seems to miss the post modernist perspective that makeup is less likely to be worn to attract a mate but most likely instead for self confidence/esteem and impressing/fit in with our fellow makeup wearers, if we attract a mate in the process it's a side effect rather than the primary goal.Patronising name L'oreal, not so great 'balm' but nice moisturising lip colour with longevity mostly from the stain rather than the formulation.

2016 appears to be the year of the balm cosmetics wise and I'm sorry but loreal's infallible 'sexy balm' is not my favourite 'balm-colour' but this one is probably a good lipstick anyway especially for a blue-toned pink that's moisturising and easy to wear during the day.The formulation is less viscous/slippery than other balms I've tried this year, it reminds me of a slightly melted crayon rather than a balm, it seems the formulation is HEAVY on the wax which is balanced with some silicones so there isn't definitive dragging on the lips, but it's not the gliding swipe of some competitors. It doesn't feel like you are wearing any lip colour and there is no slippy feeling on the lips but there is a slight waxy moisture felt there when you press your lips together. The moisture lasts several hours even after the colour has faded.Colour wise 'go pretty or go home' is a sugary blue toned pink hinting towards mauve . It's really flattering on cool toned skins due to the blue tones, it is sheer enough to be wearable in the day but rich enough to carry as a lighter lip at night. However, AWFUL name, 'sexy balm', its quite frankly cringeworthy at any age to say you are wearing 'sexy balm' and seems to miss the post modernist perspective that makeup is less likely to be worn to attract a mate but most likely instead for self confidence/esteem and impressing/fit in with our fellow makeup wearers, if we attract a mate in the process it's a side effect rather than the primary goal.Patronising name L'oreal, not so great 'balm' but Lovely 'go to' moisturising lip colour.

WHAT IS IT=========It's called a sexy balm. Simply it's a balm with a hint of colour, Perfect for when you want to be understated but still look pretty with a touch of colour.LOTS====There are lots in the range. I particularly like the No 104 but all of them are beautiful.COLOUR========Suitable for 'day to day' use.STICK=====A little wand of colour. Although it's a standard construction of balm/lipstick it looks rather nice looking.APPLICATION===========Apply to lips and it lasts for quite a while.PROS=====Applies well and is smooth and easy.good brandgreat valuegood range of coloursCONS=====noneGORGEOUS==========I cannot tell you enough how gorgeous all the colours are.As a balm it's as effective as carex or nivea for me. Since using this I've had no dry cracked lips.TESTING=======I went out for a meal with my friends which turned into an all nighter. I only had to apply it twice all night, my lips were well moisturised and the colour stayed on throughout the whole evening.OVERALL========The idea behind these is a combination of balm and colour. For me I think they've achieved that goal.

L’Oreal is one of my favourite brands, mainly because of its quality and lasting ability.Application doesn’t require a lot of pressure as the lipstick itself is smooth but not overly soft. I found that one run of the lipstick with the usual lip rubbing is enough to cover my lips completely. The lipstick has, initially, a nice soft shine to it – this starts to fade after an hour or 2 and you will need to reapply it through the day/evening/night.It does come off on the cup or glass when you are having a drink, and if you kiss someone within an hour or so of the application you will leave a lip print behind. There is no taste to the lipstick so it will not flavour/taste anything you are drinking or eating.102 is a subtle shade – a pale colour which enhances without being a stand-out colour. It is the sort of colour that my father would have grudgingly approved of – he was of the opinion that make-up was for women of dubious character! This is a very nice quality lipstick (as I would expect from a company like L’oreal).

This is firmly at the affordable and young end of the market, but don’t overlook this range if you are a bit older, because the colour subtlety in this range may work well for you. This is a standard twist-up stick in a simple case. Actually the case is not that special, but I guess that explains the lower price point. The balm itself is fine – nothing lacking there. It certainly moisturizes, and it lasts several hours after one application. It doesn’t last all day though, so you’ll need to have it with you when you’re out. It does deliver on the advertised 12-hours of moisture; it’s just that when the balm gets thin on the lips the colour goes away. That said, being a balm,it does a two-in-one function for you, so it’s practical in a tiny bag or a pocket. The colour maybe be subtle and pastel but it’s not weak. It covers well. For the money this is a pretty good buy, though for a very special occasion you might feel better stepping-up to something further up the range.

This is a review of the 'Adventure' colour lip balm (no.202) as Amazon seem to like to lump a lot of their reviews together.Like the other lip balms in this infallible range, this is actually a lipstick and balm in one. It does feel moisturising when first applied, though in all these balms we've tried that does wear off over time. The black base looks quite classy but the clear lid, in a similar colour to the lipstick inside, does ruin this a little. Still, the twist action works well and the overall product is well made. The colour is rather bright. We weren't expecting it to be quite this shade of pink, especially for a balm rather than a full-on lipstick, and it doesn't really suit my wife's complexion, but that's not to say the product isn't any good. It's probably more suitable to night wear but I'm sure some woman with different complexions could carry this off in the day. It does stay on for a while, though the moisturising aspect wears off quicker.

It's about time Vine offered some products for chaps. This product was selected by me for my wife with my left arm up my back. What follows are her words...This is my new favourite lip covering for the Summer. Not keen on the name 'sexybalm' or the packaging, to me it looks like a childs lollipop style stick but the product's great & the lid does click on so, no accidents.Reminiscent of Clinique's Chubby Stick it glides on super smoothly. Sheer colour with a hint of gloss that leaves my lips feeling soft & moisturised & me, confident that I have a subtle but present tint on them. The coverage lasts for a few hours if you're not a lip licker/chewer or if you're careful drinking & eating.Smallenough to fit in the palm of my hand it won't take up much space in my handbag but will be one of my essentials.Yes, a definite recommend from me.

This balm/stain comes in a sleek tube with a pull-off/snap-on top. The stick itself has a sharp point that applies a precise line around the lips if required. It feels creamy as it goes on, and you get a medium-strong colour. You can also wipe-off the balm to reveal just the stain underneath for a very subtle colour. I find that if you can remember to leave the balm untouched, unlicked, and eat or drink nothing for say 5 minutes after applying it, it does last well. You end up with just the stain after eating, but that remains for most of the day if you remembered the 5 minute rule. I applied a clear lip balm over the top of the stain to brighten it during the day, so no need for a mirror.I tried Such a Babe, which is a subtle warm browny-orange-red. These new balm/stains are really useful, and this is a good one.

It does feel moisturising when first applied, though in all these balms we've tried that does wear off over time. The black base looks quite classy but the clear lid, in a similar colour to the lipstick inside, does ruin this a little. Still, the twist action works well and the overall product is well made. The colour is, as far as I can describe it, a pale salmon pink. It's nice on complexions that don't need much colour. My wife is slightly olive skinned and it works well on her,not too pink but still pink enough to show that you're wearing something. It's easy to apply and goes on evenly, too.

This is a hybrid between a lipstick and lip balm and feels extremely rich and moisturising when applied. The lipstick itself (this colour is called Go Pretty or Go Home) is a very pretty dark pink. This is ideal for everyday wear if applied lightly and you can add more layers if you want a brighter shade. It looks a little like a crayon in style and has a sharp point, enabling you to apply this without a lip pencil, Not only is this a very creamy lipstick, but it also smells very pleasant; with a fruity fragrance. On the minus side, it really does not have much staying power. It need to be reapplied often; especially after eating or drinking. Still, if you have dry lips and do not mind the fact that this will not last too long, then it certainly looks nice when freshly applied, and feels pleasant too.

I've tried quite a few lip stick balm type things in the last couple of months and the worst thing is smiling at someone 2 hours after applying with bits of the lipstick around your lips. This lipstick/balm glides on smoothly and has the feel of a lipbalm rather than lipstick. It is a lovely shade of pink suitable for both day and\or night wear. It is not too glossy neither does it feel sticky. It is shaped like a sharpened pencil so I find that I can apply it with less of it smudging around the lips than a regular shaped lipstick. 6 hours later despite eating, drinking and talking, it still feels lovely on and I can't see any bits in the corners of my lips.A fabulous product which is now a permanent fixture in my makeup purse.

I've not loved the other shade that I tried in this range (104 - Break The Rules), as the colour went on unevenly, didn't last long and leached off my lips onto the surrounding skin, making me look rather unkempt. This, weirdly and inexplicably, stayed on through 2 cups of coffee, a bout of hayfever and a salad lunch with beetroot and coleslaw - impressive. The colour is a mix of pale pink/cream in a moist lip covering that's rather matte, and not as shiny/glossy as the other shade, which I prefer. This doesn't make my lips feel greasy or sticky and in fact, they feel a little plumped, some 3hrs after I applied the lip colour, though it's now wearing off.I'd buy this again,as it seems like a lip salve and nice colour in one.

i have shade 102, Gossip, and I am quite taken with it. It's not so pink that I look like a cougar trying too hard to look like a teeny bopper, just enough that my lips look naturally rosy with habit of a subtle sheen. It left my lips wonderfully moisturised. No stickiness, no bleed, and no tacky feeling from it either, which I find is a hazard with many gloss type balms like this. It isn't an apply once, wear all day product, but it lasted several hours until we stopped to eat a meal. The balm is conveniently packaged so that it fit easily in my clutch though, so a quick trip to the bathroom before we left sorted that out without fuss.Great product and shade for days where I go for the natural look.
