Terrific. I have been a Laphroaig fan for best part of 30 years now. In fact it was, luckily, my first intro to Malt Whisky. I always have a bottle of the ten year old in the house. This intrigued me so I ordered. It’s typically Laphroaig. But incredibly pale ( I assume no caramel added.). But it’s richer, more rounded than the ten. Clearly the same stable, but with extra flavours that linger on the mouth after drinking. I swear I had some coffee and coconut notes after I put the glass down.Wife and I did a blindfold test with the ten and this came out on top. I still rate the ten, but it was clearly more spirity and less rounded. We then did a side by side with Ardbeg Ten. That was a closer affair, but that is then high praise indeed as I consider Ardbeg ten to be the best from that coast of Islay. All in all, a terrific whisky. More complex than the standard ten, ultra smooth and gives you lots to talk about.

It's bottled at a healthy 48% which makes such a difference. No mention of chill filtering but hopefully it hasn't occurred due to the higher ABV. It's also very pale in colour, more straw blonde which makes me think it's not been artificially coloured. So all very positive. Now I'm not particularly good with tasting notes etc and my palate isn't the best, but I'll give my thoughts. To me, this is what Laphroaig is all about; it's like the standard 10 but with all the flavour dials turned up. Id say its more smokey and less 'clean' than the standard 10 appears to have become.I really love Laphroaig (it's my favourite whisky) and out of all the bottlings I've had (Quarter Cask, triple wood, PX Cask,QA (yuck), Select, 10, Four Oak) I think this is my new favourite.

So I am fortunate enough to have a bottle of 18 year old Laphroaig to compare this to and I have to say I'm a little disappointed to be honest. My first though is there isn't much influence from the cask, the colour rather light and not so much woody spiciness. Not as rich as the 18. A perfectly good Laphroaig but somewhat lacking and personally I prefer the 10 to this 16 although 18 is best overall. At this price point it's not as excellent as it probably should be, Talisker 18 is a good option at this price and an excellent whisky. I'd go for the 10 Laphroaig or something else unless you really want to try this, in which case I doubt you'd be reading the reviews.

This stuff is very VERY good. I just opened it tonight for a dram before bed while watching The Sopranos. It’s typical Laphroaig, rich, smokey and leathery on the nose. The mouthfeel is creamy and oily with a beautiful balanced taste of pepper, peat smoke, sweet honey, vanilla and butterscotch. If your a fan of Laphroaig or Islay whisky’s in general, do yourself a favour and buy a bottle of this.

I'm a big Laphroaig fan anyway so this was always going to get a good review from me... But this is a worthy cut above the lower priced options. Definitely a sipping whisky that I believe is best enjoyed neat and drank nice and slowly. Certainly a great cure for the lockdown that's for sure!!

Absolutely delightful. This dram is a real treat! Smooth, full bodied, peaty goodness. It packs a punch at 48% with the sweet bourbon intertwining with the traditional laphroaig smoke flavour. Brilliant!

Great Laphroaig but would prefer to give this a 4.5 out of 5 due to the CS 10 being more than £15 cheaper but superior in taste and complexity

If you like Islay Malts, especially Laphroaig. This is an excellent whisky.Classic Laphroaig character, smooth, warming and delightful.

Not tried it yet but I’m a FOL and have 20+ in my collection. Islay whiskies rarely disappoint.
