As expected from a Japanese product, this grater is aesthetically pleasing, well designed (the silicon base makes it very stable on the worktop) and does the job well. It is also very easy to clean if rinsed (and, depending on what was grated, brushed) immediately after use. I have so far used it on ginger, parmesan and nutmeg, which all work fine. If anything, the parmesan comes out slightly more compacted compared to shaving it with a microplane grater because of the pressure involved (the parmesan is grated and then swept into the "moat" with the next circular movement) - but it works very well for my purposes. The trick of letting the boiling water trickle over the grater to flush out theginger directly into the tea pot when making ginger tea is genius - I haven't tried someone else's trick of spreading cling film over the grater before grating garlic in order to make it easier to gather the garlic pulp, but it sounds sensible. The teeth of the grater are sharp, but definitely less of a risk to one's fingertips than your ordinary microplane grater.I am looking forward to using this for its intended purpose, grating daikon, and also to grating fruit and vegetables for baby food.Great product!

I've always wanted one of these but never bothered because I didn't know how much of a difference it would be. Hubby bought me one as a gift and I just tried it tonight with a clove of garlic and knob of ginger. I could not believe how easy it was to grate the ginger, which literally became just a bunch of threads between my fingers, all the juice and pulp running into the channels along the side. I then tried it with garlic which just disintegrated into a glorious puree. Finally, ginger with no weird hairs and threads! Well, I thought, clean up is going to be a nightmare, but I literally just dipped it in the dishwater and swished it around and boom, a few swipes of the cloth and sparkling clean.Seriously.This thing is awesome. PLUS, it has a silicon grip on the bottom and the thing will NOT slide on the counter. It's perfect.

I'm glad I bought the large size as the smaller version without the moulded spout would I think have been fiddly.Having previously risked losing my fingertips using Microplane graters on garlic and ginger, this proves to be a safer and more effective alternative as you only end up with ginger pulp & juice - the fibres remain like shabby toothbrush bristles still attached to the ginger root.

I rather like this grater for ginger, garlic, and fresh turmeric grating. Actually my second one because I clumsily dropped and broke the last, then I stupidly skimped in some off-brand grater half the price and it was rubbish. The rubberised (silicone?) bottom holds it still and the spikes are sharp enough to get the job done.

This item works so well it's surprising. It's not so sharp that you would hurt yourself moving it around, but grating ginger, it does a fantastic job. It grates/crushes the ginger out so that so much juice is released.

Good little gadget especially for ginger. Not sharp like a metal grater so no problem with grating fingers instead! Around the bottom there is a rubber trim which prevents it from moving.

For what it is used for, it's a bit expensive.I saw this in a cooking video and immediately bought it, haven't used it once but I trust it will work perfectly just like in the show.

I love love this grater. I bought it to grate ginger which I use a lot every day. A little bit more expensive than other graters in the market but well worth every penny

Small but very effective, simple to use and easy to clean, like that all the stringy bits of the ginger and left behind. Easy to store due to its small footprint.

This is the best way of grating ginger that I've found so far. I started off by getting the smaller-sized one but returned it for this, which works very well.

Perfect item for fiddly ginger - get all the juice as well as the actual ginger - great for making lemon & goner boiled drink first thing in my morning

Very, very, very useful and accompanying brush makes a great addition. Stops me getting sore, grated fingers using a conventional grater,

Does a good job. Perfect for fresh ginger. I have just what I need to make ginger tea. Good for your arms as it requires a bit of power.

At last I have found something that works with ginger. A little pricey, but after years of using useless graters am happy with this!

But now you do.Does one job absolutely perfectly, and rinses perfectly clean in seconds. I absolutely love this mono-tasker.
