I love these kong-on-a-rope toys! They do so many things right!1. The plastic-like woven rope attached to the toy is long enough that it makes your effective "throwing arm" very long, which means you can easily get enough momentum in a swing to throw the toy very far.2. The weight, heavier than toys with rope knots or tennis balls or tennis-ball-type cylinders on the end, also lets even my 68-year-old mother build up enough momentum in a relaxed throw to really get some distance and give the dogs a good long run.3. The hard rubber of the toy at the end is very resistant to chewing.4. The toy's odd shape and rubber composition makes it bounce unpredictably when it lands, keeping the dogs guessing and sometimes making your effective throw even longer.5. The rope is long enough that we can have three or four of our dogs running side by side with the rope in their mouths at once! Very funny, cool, and cute to see the whole doggie family running with the same toy in their mouths!6. The rope is tough enough that our dogs trying to pull it away from each other can't tear or cut it. Sometimes they bring me the toy and don't want me to throw it again, but want to play tug of war. I'll grab the end of the rope. One, two or three dogs will grab hold, and in a rowing motion, I'll lift them one (or all) off the ground at once and swing them to the side. That can be well over 100 pounds of dogs hanging on and being swung by the teeth, and the rope is fine. And they love the ride! Our 40-pounder loves getting as many rides as I can give her before I'm pooped. I guess that's another benefit -- I get exercise too!7. It floats. I walk the dogs by a pond, and we've lost a few non-floating toys to it.8. The orange toy and red rope are very easy to see in green grass or in brown underbrush. A lot of our dog toys have been in that green color you see on tennis balls, and they can be so hard to find when the dogs drop them in the grass. You've got to watch them like a hawk with those, but not with these.I got both my mother and my father kong-on-a-rope toys for their dogs for Christmas because I knew they love them too, but once in a while they lose one up in a tree. I told them I wouldn't say anything if they didn't want to tell the dogs, and just chew on the toys themselves, but so far they're willing to share. They're the perfect present for the man or woman who has everything -- something for their dogs!

This is our dog's favourite toy. We bought the first one when she was a puppy, because we were staying near the sea, so the floating aspect was a positive. It's proved to be an absolute hit. We don't live near the sea but we use this on walks in the nearby playing field where the rope attached means you can throw the toy a long way very easily. There is a stream where we can throw the toy in and the float means the dog can see it easily to retrieve it.We actually have two dogs now, and because of the rope, they can play tug-of-war with it, which they both love. We're on our third toy now, only because we lost two: my husband threw one and got it caught high up in a tree (beware, the rope does wrap itself easily around branches and the like). The other one had lost its float-ability (see below) and got dragged under by the sea so we couldn't find it.This leads into why I gave the toy only four and not five stars. The rope does get chewed up and frays to the point when it breaks a bit more easily and quickly than I think is right. My engineer-husband replaced it, which is great, but it also meant the float that sits inside the toy was removed. We recently spent a couple of weeks by the sea and in order to control the game, and to ensure the dogs didn't follow the toy too far out to sea, we attached a length of washing-line to the rope of the toy, and threw that around in the shallow waves. It was brilliant and the dogs had great fun chasing it. A great success all round. All in all though, a really good buy. Highly recommended.

We swim our dogs a lot. It's a great low-impact form of exercise and they love it. The Kong Aqua is one of their favorite water toys, and one of ours as well. The dogs are able to find it in the water and can either grab the Kong itself or the dragging rope. This is good for our foster military puppies when they are too small to firmly grasp the Kong and are just learning how to retrieve in water. We also use this smaller size for them at the beginning stages. We like this toy because it is easy to grab when the dogs come out of the pool. Otherwise they tend to take off with the toy and play with it on their own. That's really not the point in our program. We want to encourage interaction with us,not independent satisfaction. We took it with us to the Guadalupe River where we met our friends who brought their GSD. She had never been in the water but splashed into the river after the Kong Aqua immediately. She loved it! They went home and ordered one for her right away and say it is one of her favorites for playing in the yard. I recommend the Kong Aqua although personally I do not allow our dogs to have it unattended. First of all, we want to keep up their strong desire for it. Secondly, since we have large aggressive chewers, we don't want to take a chance on their ingesting pieces of the rope. That's a personal decision each owner has to make with their situation and individual dog in mind.

My dog Murphy (G.S.D.) loves his Aqua Kong, it is by far his favourite toy, taking it with him on every walk. The long rope makes it easy to throw long distance for him to fetch, but beware of trees as it is easy to inadvertently launch into a tree and find it stays there and does not fall out, this I am telling you from experience!Murphy chews it hard, but does not try and tear it (which is good for his teeth, helping to keep them clean) and after having this particular one for 4 months (see warning above) has only managed to make a few marks on the surface of the rubber.I have known in the past that the foam insert that keep the Aqua Kong's afloat in water to suffer more damage to the point that they disintegrates and fall out.If this happens and you don't notice, then throw it in water, it sinks. So a great product which pleases my dog, but be cautious and check that foam for damage if you throw it in to the water for you dog to fetch.Other wise it it worth ever penny paid

We received this toy a day earlier than expected, well packed. The toy itself is much like the original Kongs but with a buoyancy aid inside and a softer shell. The rope handle is also buoyant. We received orange, l don't know if there is any alternative. After a quick test run l am fairly pleased with it, it certainly is easy to throw and my Labrador had no trouble retrieving it. It is fairly light and small (we did get the large) so does drift out in the water fairly quickly, we tested it in a small bay off the nearby beach. The string adds to the fun as she enjoyed the option of pulling it through the water by the string or carrying the entire toy.It lost a point as the string has alreadystarted to shred after a quick 15 minutes of play and l don't imagine it will last too long but l will keep it purely for the water and keep my fingers crossed as it is fit for purpose.

At first glance the toy appeared rather pricey - roughly the cost of 3 x tennis balls on a rope. The latter however we were getting through every 6 weeks : we've had this toy for well over the six weeks now and it remains in perfect condition. We have a very enthusiastic Labrador who loves to chase her toys and retrieve, especially from local streams. With the tennis balls there would inevitably be numerous teeth marks which would let in air and water eventually resulting in them sinking to the bottom of the water and needing to be rescued, their green colour could also make locating them rather difficult amongst the long grass. The bright orange colour of this toy makes it far more visible on our walks, and is certainly a robust toy for the more energetic dog. Definitely worth the price, would certainly purchase in the future if needed.

Received as a gift for my dog's birthday. Both dogs love it. The rope allows you to throw the ball much further into the water than normal balls. My lazy labrador who we have to coax into going for walkies, simply loves this. Today he fetched it 16 times from the water - normally he'd ditch a stick after 2 swims. After a lot of retrieves it did start to sink a little, perhaps water logged so we stopped and it's hanging up to dry. Rope not designed to be left with dog to chew as some have commented, but we only allow our dogs to retrieve, then it's put away. Only negative - It was not clear from packaging if the foam had to be removed or not - there was no mention of its function on the packagingand having been gifted this we hadn't read the product description online.

Great toy for our dog as he does not chew things too much, the weight of it must be just about perfect as he loves to carry it. It is his "go to" best toy and he will happily amuse himself throwing it about, chasing it chucking it in the air catching it and shaking the life out of it. This was bought as a replacement for the same toy which had eventually "worn out" after a couple of years hard use. out in the open this can be thrown a very good distance due to the good weight and decent rope length, just watch you do not get over enthusiasic at the waters edge or you could easily find it being out of range of the dog. Similarly be carefull around trees as the weight and rope length means it ties itself round branches easily, common sense really.

THis has worked out great for my sons 30Lb Pointer. I read some other reviews that said it got destroyed in 1-2 days and I would totally disagree with those reviews. Keep in mind that this is NOT a chew toy but a POOL toy. Our dog loves to swim and chase things we throw in the pool. We DO NOT allow her to sit and chew on it after she retreives it from the pool. If you just allow your dog to retreive and then take it away, it will last a long time. The rope is still completely attached and the KONG has no missing pieces and we've used it all summer. The rope allows the dog to have a larger area to grab, and our dog grabs the rope, then reaches to grab the kong to bring out of the pool.Love it and highly recommend it.

Delivered in good time and quality. It floats well, is really visible and the rope is a lovely idea to make the you easy to grab for the dog and owner. However, the rope does NOT function as a rug of war toy as it was pulled out in the first ten minutes of using it with my 30kg dog. If they had made this clear in the item description that would have been fair, but I have to take a star off for the that as it now functions as two separate toys. I really wish long would the weights of dogs they recommend for each toy, because although they are far the best seller of durable dog toys, it would just make it easier especially for medium to larger owners. Besides that, pretty genius you idea.Thank you!

A great alternative to throwing a ball. My labrador absoloutly loves this! Ive bought 4 incase i loose it as she looooves it! Very easy to see in water as bright orange.. rope isnt a rope as such and not chewable like a rope tug toy very light would be destroyed easy if your dog destroys its toys. A bit on the smaller side for my full size lab but still a good size maybe best for a spaniel size a large would have been better for my lab but she loves it so ive stuck to a medium. The kong is very sturdy.. much like the ones you fill for treats except its filled with a sort of foam type thing. If your dogs a swimmer this is a must! Very very pleased. Cant reccomend it enough.

We have gone through several of these in the last couple of years, they are without a doubt the best fetch toy we come across, and we have been through a few! Its easy to throw because of the rope, its fairly tough, although not indestructable, it's bright orange so easy to spot and best of all it floats really well. The only downside and the reason we have gone through a few of them, is that it's so easy to throw that my husband keeps accidently throwing it so far into the sea that our dog cant swim out out to get it!Our dog is a smallish lurcher type and the large suits him perfectly so I would definately get the large if you have a medium or above sized dog.

I have two one year old dogs and they both love their Kongs. I do love them too as they are made of very durable rubber and after many months of happy chewing they are still in very good conditions. This particular one is the favorite toy of one of my dogs who loves playing fetch. I find it is better than a tennis ball, which she also loves, as it last much longer. Also the rope makes it very easy to throw, with no need of carrying additional tools like ball thrower, and seem very sturdy too. I haven't tried it in water yet but I certainly will in the warmer season. I highly recommend this toy and my dog would too.

KONG is known for making near indestructible toys for your dog and this is a great example of a quality toy. The rope is a plastic rope that is found in many marine areas and is about 2 feet long in total. The KONG itself is a standard KONG though in orange rather than the normal red. There is a grey foam insert in the middle, so if you are looking to stuff anything into the KONG you will need to look somewhere else.Pros: good length of rope, durable, floats well.Cons: Can't stuff anything in the KONGOverall: a great toy for the lake for your retriever!

I've bought this type of Kong for our dogs since they first were introduced. It's durable, floats on water as promised and is something you can always see if its left floating out there on the waves.Like the regular "rope" Kong, however, the only negative I've found in the past is that if you have a big "tugger" of a dog, the rope will sometimes come out. The difficulty with the Aqua Kong is that since the interior is stuffed with foam, it's difficult to restring on the rope. This is a great play toy. The Kong itself is almost indestructible!
