I bought this in turquoise when I saw that it was on offer at a reduced price. I am already an enthusiast for Kipling bags, as they are always well made and combine sturdiness without being heavy. If they become heavy, it's because of what we put in them, not because of the weight of the bags themselves.NB - the Garan comes in more than one size, so check dimensions carefully. This bag is large enough to carry plenty of things and is as strongly made, and as well lined, as I have come to expect of Kipling products. I particularly appreciate the proper sturdy metal zips used on all closures. (Can't stand those plastic zips that always split when put under any sort of strain.)I have to carry asthma medication beside the usual purse and others bits and pieces, so the fact that there are three pockets - one zipped - inside the central zipped space is very useful. There's also a smaller outer pocket which is hidden and velcroed closed by the outer overall flap. This is useful for storing scarves or fold-away shopping bags. But the outer fold-over flap is one of the best features of all. There is a zip along along the edge of the flap which opens to reveal a compartment which runs the entire length of the bag when unfolded. This means one can safely stow away paperbacks, A4 documents (if slid in sideways), maps, A-Z guides, or any number of larger objects. Really very useful!Unlike some of the other Kipling cross-body or shoulder bags, the strap on the Garan is NOT detachable, but perhaps that is wise in a bag of this size. If you had got plenty of stuff in the bag, you wouldn't want it to get accidentally unclipped from the strap.

Just to add to the 'oh, it's fab' and ''this is a tardis' type reviews. I bought one last week, unusually not from Amazon but at a shopping outlet branch of Kipling. Cheap as chips, brightly patterned, fab and a tardis. Add to which it's number of zips and fold over flaps and storage compartments which makes it feel like a very safe and secure bag to use on the daily packed London tube commute twice daily. It contains a mountain of stuff which has all disappeared into the body of the bag, retaining its shape. The extra storage area in the zippered flap feels even more secure and I am using that a storage space for my ridiculously expensive in ear noise reducing headphone and the much cheaper branded MP3 player!Love it, love it, love it, now watching out for any price drops on Amazon to buy another - that bright yellow will surely get reduced, but I can like any colour (except brown) if the price drops sufficiently! One or two people have said that it is suitable for evening use too - I agree as far as I am often out in the evening and use the same sort of bag I would use during the day. However, this one is definitely not an evening bag. I also think it would make a really useful baby bag to carry all those bits and pieces around during the day.Treat yourself to one.

I bought the Garan to replace my previous Kipling, an Ibusuki that I bought about 2.5 years ago and was starting to bite the dust. Overall, I really like it. The colour is actually slightly bluer than the picture on the site, at least on my computer. To be more specific, it's the same colour as Urban Decay ransom eye liner. The Garan is also much sturdier than the Ibusuki, which was a bit flimsy (by this I mean that sometimes certain objects in my bag would poke me in the thigh if I put them in at the wrong angle because the fabric was so thin). This is not the case with the Garan though. The fabric is much sturdier than the Ibusuki, and I haven't noticed anything hitting my leg, even if I put it in the the compartment that is closest to me. I really like the fold-over pocket, and I'm pleased to report that it's big enough to fit my giant 9 inch long umbrella, which is quite a feat. The strap is also nice and long, which is something I find very important as I'm quite tall. However, the reason I only gave it four stars is that it was much smaller than I expected. I was hoping to be able to fit an A4 notebook in it, and this definitely isn't the case. At least the umbrella fits. :)

I have been using this bag for about 4 weeks now since it arrived. The Good - I love the size and shape of the bag, there is room for all of the 'stuff' that I carry and unlike the Baggallini bag I was previously using, the shoulder strap actually manages to stay on my shoulder and doesn't slip off all the time. I also find the internal Key tether really handy so I can grab my keys quickly without having to rummage for them. The 'could be better' - Unlike the previous bag I had, the Kipling Garan is a bit lacking on internal compartments and zipped pocket areas (there is only one and that is on the inside of the bag). I found that I had to just throw everything into the bag and rummage around when I wanted to find something.I got around this issue by purchasing a hand-bag organiser insert from an online store and now I have a designated place for everything I carry and thus eliminated the 'rummage factor'. I think for the price of the Kipling, they could have added more comparments and sections into the bag for quick and easy access to all your vital stuff.

I have a huge amount of Kipling bags and my favourite style is the Jeel of which I have 10.....well until I got my Garan. This is the most comfortable Kipling bag I have bought to date and I think it will remain my favourite. It is large enough for all my daily bits and pieces, the pockets and organisation inside are great and the quirky zipped overflap that leads to a deep pocket is by and large the best security feature I have seen on a Kipling. I keep my purse in there and wearing my bag cross body and the body of the bag behind me I have no worries about someone dipping into it to try and remove it. Ingenious feature. And the Port Red colour is gorgeous and as my favourite clothing colour is burgundy it goes with everything I wear. Will be purchasing in a couple more of the dark colours and keeping this as my forever favourite bag.

I purchased a Garan in grey and metallic silver-didn't like either but I did like the design of the bag. I decided to order the Beige logo design. So glad I did. The nylon looks a lot thicker-due to the embossing on the bag. The metal monkey makes a nice change from the furry ones. The zip pulls are not the usual that you find on the basic design-one this bag they are silver with Kipling wrote on the zip pull. The lining is not the usual colour-its in cotton(a white and grey design) hence, this lining is also a lot thicker than the norm. The colour is gorgeous. Its lighter than the caffe Latte, its a real gentle/soft beige, that will go with anything. I"ve quite a few Kiplings but this style and embossed design,is by far one of my favourites(so far) Money permitting, might have to go for the Brown and Black as well:)

I like this bag, as it is not too large and fits most of the things I need when I go out. I received it in time before I went away , so that I could use it . It fitted in my hand luggage bag, with enough space for some other items. I use it as a handbag now. Nice colour and feel to it.shortened the handle, so it was not so long, so it made it easier to hold. Not too many pockets. Not used the long pocket which is kind of hidden, as it feels deep. Ipad made that part heavy.Cheaper than buying on eBay. One of the same colour went for about £36.00, which is more than this cost with postage. I was wanting a new bag when I went away, so I decided to get this one, which did actually arrive in time.I might or might not buy more bags.

Excellent size and useful compartments and zipped pockets. Lining waterproof, attractive spotty and very good quality.Wide shoulder strap so able to wear across body so no neck or shoulder pain. Bag is in lovely luxurious patent leather material so waterproof, shiny and colour in a beautiful rich mulled wine. Cute gorilla bag charm is the icing on the cake and perfectly matches in colour. Paid £45 for the same bag in sienna gold at House of Frazer in Birmingham, December 2013 in the sales. Hence I paid less for this bag even with postage! Have recommended the bag to friends as I love it! Would love to purchase in same material in black at the same price!Quality and durability is much better than Cath Kiddson bags.

I like the size of this bag for every day if I could change it I would like a fastening of some sort on the smaller pocket at the front under the flap just to make sure my travel pass can't fall out (I might rectify that with some Velcro or magnetic studs) plenty of room and security everywhere else for iPads, kindle readers, and larger purses and I love the cross body/shoulder option without grab handles, ordered two on Friday evening, the port red laquare arrived at 8 50am Saturday morning, the other the burnt sienna not in stock for a couple of days will arrive in the middle of next week. Both bags offered a saving of almost £40 each so am well pleased with the great prices and serviceAmazon offer.

I love Kipling bags as they're so fun, funky and Durable. This one is no exception. I have a few other Kipling bags I've had years and they're still good as new despite having been used a lot. The Garan is great as it has a back and front compartment for extra security, both of which are zipped. The tropic flower pattern I opted for is gorgeous. The bag is big enough for essentials including a small lunch box, drink, book, purse, keys, phone etc but doesn't look huge. And as always for Kipling you get a lovely little monkey key ring included. I was a bit wary about the price as it was quite expensive (I paid nearly the full price even on amazon)but I know it's great quality and made to last!

Excellent large bag for everyday use. Mine fits a Sony tablet, large purse, make-up, brolly, phone, theatre programme, book, a folded canvas carrier bag and a bottle of water with room to spare. Crossover strap is comfortable with heavy contents and stays in place. Bag retains its shape when only half-full. Friend with new baby uses hers for baby paraphernalia and her tablet. Zip compartment inside the outer flap extends to bottom of bag to accommodate a full-sized laptop. Outer unzipped pocket allows quick access to water, brolly, book, gloves, etc., without having to unzip main compartment. The itself is very light, waterproof, and will last out my lifetime. Highly recommended.

I'm addicted to Kipling's, just can't resist especially when they're less than full price, and I love this one, too for all the usual reasons - durability, colours, tardis-like dimensions, etc. But, for the first time ever, I have to report a couple of blemishes although nothing that will stop me continuing to add to my collection! Firstly, I would have liked a larger Velcro fastener on the flap and this feature will put me off getting this style again; secondly, the key hook on the string inside the bag came off straight away and despite my good intentions, I didn't sew it back on immediately and now I've lost it! Otherwise it would have been the usual 5 stars.

I have so many Kipling bags, and the Garan is one of my most used bags. I already have this in the true blue. I really fell in love with the Monkey Mania brown print and had to have one.The print is exceptional really lovely and the monkey key ring is really cute. The silver finish on this bag just adds to the quality of the bag and is much more stylist then the plain colors and has a print lining but It is still as practical and useful. The lovely autumn colors in this bag match so many of my outfits for this season.A truly great bag, very happy with bag and Amazon service, quick delivery; although as usual the the packaging was OTT.

Plenty of room, good colour and excellent quality. You can tell this bag is well made from first glance. I do like it and I use it every day. In retrospect I wish I had been slightly more adventurous with the colour option but then it always gives me an excuse to buy another one!I like a larger handbag and this definitely fits into that category, it is very casual with a fabric strap and velcro fastening, main pocket and inner pocket have secure zip fastening. There is a small clasp inside which is fanastic for attaching house/car keys and saves searching for ages in bag. Will certainly buy from Kipling range in the future.

Great bag. Brown heather colour has sparkly silver which makes it look special. Really like the spotted lining. Front pocket is not fastened, to improve this a popper fastening, also instead of Velcro on the outside a popper would be great (also Velcro is noisy and can wear out). Hence 4 stars. But the flap which opens up to have a secure pocket on the back of the bag for a kindle or book or iPad etc is brilliant. Also if you are travelling, a perfect place for passport/ tickets as impossible for pickpockets to get into without you noticing. So foe 'garan two' kipling please put popper fastening in!
