I’d not heard of Kipling bags before, but having the need for a new little bag I thought I’d give this a try. I’m pleasantly surprised by the quality; nice stitching, for example, and good solid fasteners and zips. The nylon it’s made from means it has some water resistance (not been tested yet) and its feel and texture mean that it’s sporty and durable rather than being showy. The bag is a good size, and remains nicely compact when carrying the basics (which for me is purse, phone, keys). However, the base expands and the bag can actually accommodate a surprising amount of stuff, should you want it to. For instance, height-wise it just fits in an A5 size notebook,or an average paperback book (though not a 10.1 inch tablet). It has also been stuffed with gloves and my fat glasses case and held them quite comfortably. The strap is reasonably wide and doesn’t seem to dig in when carrying a heavier load. It’s nice to wear it across the body and the strap is plenty long enough to do this. The main compartment to the bag is zipped, and an outer flap folds over this and secures with a satisfying snap into the magnetic popper. There’s a small pocket at the front with a Velcro fastening and a roomy zipped section at the back which can be accessed without going into the main bag. Inside the main compartment is a zipped pocket, a key fob, a mobile phone pocket and a pen pocket (the latter two are perhaps a smidgen too shallow, but certainly do the job).I don’t really get the monkey thing if I’m honest (Kipling references aside) but for those of you who do collect them, this is Davina and she (?) will happily suck her thumb, hold her hands together or do a flying monkey thing with both arms outstretched. All rather cute!Low-key, slightly retro in design and colour, this fun and functional bag is a nice size for those of us who don’t carry everything around, but like to have room for the essentials and a little bit more.

This is a great style Kipling bag. It seems to me like a larger version of the Kipling Delphin style so that might help you if you are familiar with that design. It looks quite satchel-like from the front and underneath the flap, there are actually 3 sections - a main zipped compartment, a pocket secured by velcro to the front of that, and an open compartment behind it. Inside the main compartment, you'll find an additional zip pocket, plus drop pockets for a mobile (fine for my iPhone 5s, maybe not ok for one of the bigger smartphones) and a pen, plus a clip cord on which to secure your keys. On the back of the bag, there is an additional zipped pocket into which I can just get my Kindle voyage wearing its official Amazon cover. The front drop pocket can easily accommodate my Kindle Fire HDX 7 and I can also fit an 8 inch table into that front section. It isn't big enough for a tablet larger than 8 inches though, so no room here for a full-sized iPad. The base of this bag is surprisingly wide which mean that you can actually fit quite a bit in. The bag takes on quite a boxy shape when its got lots of stuff in it which I quite like. I've always found Kipling bags to be excellent quality and this is no exception. I've got the Black Animal print which comes with gold coloured clips and zips and it looks very smart I think. Another strong recommendation from me both for the brand in general and for this style in particular. It's another Kipling winner!

The Cayleen Shoulder Bag has all the features and quality you'd expect in a Kipling bag in a useful 'in-between' size, so there's room for all the girl essentials but it's not going to weigh you down. We got the Party-Dot design which is slightly darker in real-life than it appears in the photo's - but in a good way, they're slightly deeper, attractive shades - and is young and cheerful looking without being tacky. The bag is, as you'd expect, very nicely made and all the seams are taped and finished well and the fabrics, although lightweight, are soft and seem durable. The zips and closures all seem good and the soft webbing strap extends long enough to let you wear the bag cross-body if preferred. There are a good selection of pockets, some zipped and some open, and the bag has the usual Kipling features, like the key-strap and monkey charm (named Davina in this case). The pen pocket and mobile-phone pocket are in the main compartment and seem slightly shallow to me, a long-ish length pen will protrude above the top of the bag. The phone pocket is otherwise generous enough to take a good-sized smartphone, even in its case, so you'll never lose it at the bottom of your bag. All together it's a fun yet practical bag, really well-made and with the usual Kipling style and charm - at full retail price it seems a bit expensive for what it offers but it certainly lives up to the Kipling name for quality.

Yes, every Kipling bag has got a monkey swinging along. Kipling by the way, is another word for quality. This Cayleen Shoulder Bag, is exceptionally well made, and oozes style. In fact the bag is so well designed, it lets you do everything you need. The outer flap has a magnetic catch, and underneath is the main zipped compartment, which has it's own zipped pocket along the back, and pouches for your mobile phone, and pen, inside the front. This main area affords plenty of space for all your bits and bobs, like purse, glasses case, perfume, and others. There's even a chain to keep your keys safe.Together with additional pockets front and back, with Velcro, and zip fastening respectively, you've got space to indulge yourself. The bag is light, and comes in a wide range of colours, mine being the Party Dot , which is very attractive. The strap can be adjusted to give a comfortable wearing position, whether on the shoulder, or over the head.Getting back to the monkey again, this is in the enigmatic Kipling style, and is itself well groomed, bearing the name of one of the factory workers on it's arm - my person's name is Davina.Kipling bags are very durable, continuing to look good for several years, and wearing them is a sign of good taste. Why not treat yourself, or someone you love, to a Kipling Shoulder bag this Christmas, and step out in style...happy swinging :).

A very attractive bag that will hold all your needs and look great with most outfits, the Party Dot pattern has plenty of colours to team up with shoes or boots. The front flap is held by a magnet popper, much better than velcro fastening which can snag tights, I know from experience. The main compartment closes with a zip and inside you will find your usual pen holder, phone pocket, key fob and zipped pocket. In front of and behind the main section there are a further two, front one closes and these are handy for keeping your life organised.I like the zipped pocket at the back of the bag because I can keep things in there without needing to open my bag fully, good for passport or tickets when travelling. The lining is my favourite grey, nice and clean but not easily marked and the shoulder strap is made from sturdy black webbed fabric. On this particular bag the little furry monkey is black and named Davina, there are collectors who like to know the names before buying a bag.Best of all the fabric is light so your aren`t going to weighed down before putting in your belongings, and this little beauty will hold lots. It can be wiped clean and best of all is reliable in all weathers. In my opinion it would be suitable for any age group and it would make the ideal gift.

I have ummed and aaahed about buying this for a while since it was a TSV on QVC, the shopping channel.I have ordered in beige from them but it is on back order and I doubt to be honest I will get it so I took the plunge andpurchased this black one to be different. Although I have yet to use this, it is a good sized bag, better than expected. It is a good for a day outnot so big that it becomes cumbersome but I expect I will get all the necessary 'garbage' I feel I need to carry in it,Purse, keys, sunglasses, bottle of water, tissues, lipstick and tea tree wipes.I was surprised to find gold coloured hardware on a Kipling rather than the usual silver. But the gold sits better with the animal print (black bag).I wasn't sure about the animal print as it is akin to a snakeskin patternto look at and I definitely do not go for that look. But... surprise, again, I quite like it. Wish they did this in the Tropic flower black.Anyway, Kipling officianado's, I have a feeling this will be a favourite for a very long time. That really is a lovely looking pattern but I have yet to get hold of the bag I am looking for in that pattern, the Practi-cool, at a reasonable price.I have a feeling this will bag will be in use for a very long time.

Just what I wanted! I purchased in the dark aubergine and it is a lovely rich shade, ordered Friday and delivered Monday - well done Amazon! I have decanted everything from my Elizea into this bag - it looks small, but you can put plenty in. I have my kindle in the open pocket behind the zipped main compartment, my large Strict purse, diary, phone etc., fit in well. I also like that every pocket is lined - both sides in the new heart/v pattern. I am not a fan of Velcro, so welcome the press stud on the flap, the Velcro closing the front open pocket is neither her nor there, so that is ok. I don't usually go for bags with flaps, but this is a nice, slightly retro style.Another reason is that I had my bag pick pocketed and I never heard either zip being opened, I feel the flap will give me more security. Another thing, I like the main zip to be sewn in both sides, not with a zip that appears to be longer than the bag, as in the syro (which I like!). It will be a good day when Kipling finally ditch all Velcro fasteners in my opinion!

Love the design of this bag and the new funky pattern very nice.Wore this out in gale force winds and driving rain today and everything was dry as a bone when I returned home after a full day's work.As this is small bag do not be deceived it has a wide base which affords the use plenty of room to put all her stuff without any hassle at all. It has the usual hidden pockets zip compartments and secret pockets that use girls have come to expect from the very reliable brand of kipling and last but not least the wonderful key fob.Across body strap which is adjustable allows for shoulder or across body use always hand when shopping with kids no constantly pushing you bag back onto your it leavesyour hands free for those important things. If your a lady that likes a large bag say the size of the ever popular Defea or the Fairfax then this is not the bag for you, but if you like a small bag that is wider allowing for that tardis like feel then this could be for you.Monkeys name on the party dot print "Davina".

I must admit, when I first saw this bag, I thought it looked too small for my needs and I considered returning it and paying £20 more for a Sunita bag instead. However, when I transferred the contents of my Reth bag, I was pleasantly surprised to find that it comfortably accommodated everything - brownie purse, large bunch of keys, glasses in case, tissues, A6 notebook, mobile phone, compact umbrella, inhaler, small folding shopping bag, lipstick and paracetamol. The Sunita may be bigger, but it has less compartments (the Cayleen has 4 compartments plus the small zip pocket for lipstick, etc. which makes it so versatile.). It would not be suitable for larger items or for travelling but, for me,as an everyday bag, it's fantastic. I love it!

I love kipling but find their pricing a little off putting - thanks to amazon deals I got this at 1/3 normal price. Excellent quality, and a proper tardis of a bag, ideal for days out or any time you need several bits and bobs but don't want yo lump a big bag around. great size for cross body which I normally avoid, but this one doesn't get in the way or become overly bulky even when full to the brim. Great front velcro sealed pocket under the flap for those quick grabs, large main zipped compartment under the flap for all manner of stuff - inner media pocket, pen slot and inner zipped pocket and bonus slip pocket behind the main compartment, and finally a zipped pocket at the outside rear, large enough for a decent sized purse.

When this handbag arrived I thought it was going to be too small but it's fantastic. I took it on holiday and managed to get an umbrella, purse, a bag with pills, husbands wallet, mini iPad, all in one go! I got the dark blue which goes with almost anything and stays clean. There are so many different compartments. There is a waterproof area for the umbrella. You can shorten or lengthen the strap for cross body or shorten it as a shoulder bag. It is also quite a strong strap. It is a secure bag as well as there is a front flap and a zip with another zip inside for credit cards etc. all in all a brilliant bag and am looking to buy another one in a different colour.

a nice little bag size about 10 x 7 x 4 inchs with a cross body shoulder strapits well made and made from a thick water resistant crinkle nylon with a colourful spot designit has the usual monkey keyring attached for a kipling bagit has a back zipped compartment and a front lift up flap with a magnetic claspinside has three sections , a front Velcro compartment , a main zipped compartment and a back compartmentthe main zipped compartment has a separate zipped compartment at the back,a mobile phone holder/pocket and pen holder at front and a clipped key cordan exspenive bag but its well made and stylish , I like it

Funky, cool bag with lots of separate compartments to store your phone and all your other bits and pieces and even a strap to attach your keys to. Perfect for when you are going out and you don't want to carry around a large bag. It has a nice soft adjustable strap that doesn't hurt your shoulder and all the colours in the design (my wife's is the Party Dot) jazz up a plain outfit but also means it can be matched with a lot of others. The fold over flap has a magnet to close it but underneath it the bag can be zipped up for peace of mind when out and about. Adorable monkey too.

Ordered the Cayleen in the Dazz Blue, a really nice, neat bag that holds more than you think! The colour is lovely in a 'linen look' with a darker blue adjustable strap (strap is actually in True Blue I believe), and matches or blends with most of my wardrobe plus I much prefer the plastic monkeys - the fluffy ones are definitely removed! (I've quite a collection!!). Would have preferred velcro free but managing to slip my travel card in the front pocket without actually opening it (hate that velcro noise). Overall I'm really pleased with the Cayleen and am enjoying using it

I love all my Kipling bags but the size and shape of the Carleen Shoulder Bag is my all-time favorite. It comes in many fashionable colours; it has just the right amount of pockets so I don’t spend extra time searching for what I need; and there’s just enough room for my essentials. I have a Kipling wallet, mobile phone, keys, make-up, Kindle, paper, pens and markers at the moment. I also have hand wipes and other stuff like chewing gum and pocket scissors in it and there’s still room! I highly recommend this durable, machine washable, practable bag for everyday use.
