The Alexane is my second Kipling bag and although my first one is very small (about half the size of this one), I do love the deep style of this one. When it arrived, I have to say it was very well presented in a bag with a lovely gold ribbon tied around it, the little pouch attached on the outside along with Davina the monkey and an ‘Especially for you’ label so this would make a wonderful gift for someone.When you open the main compartment there is a deep zipped pocket inside although I feel the main zip doesn’t open far enough so you can unzip the inside pocket fully that easily. On the opposite side there are open pockets for phone, pen etc to save them dropping to the bottom of the bag.It’s very handy also having the little keychain to easily attach keys or the pouch for easy access. On the front of the bag there’s another decently sized zipped pocket which I’d have thought wouldn’t be waterproof but I just ran the bag under water for a good few minutes and no water came through at all so it really will take a good soaking.The shoulder strap is very easily adjusted and the strap itself is really quite soft I wasn’t expecting much from the pouch but it’s two compartments actually fit quite a lot in (it’s very big even for cards) plus there’s the smaller section in the middle.As always, Kipling bags are really very well made and there’s nothing that I can see would break or rip easily. A very robust bag. My only complaint is the main zip not opening far enough (could have done with rounding down the side a bit like the pouch) but I would still very highly recommend this one.

I asked Ms Gumby to get acquainted with this.She found it nicely packaged, complete with gold ribbon and "Especially for you" label, hence an attractive gift. She likes the style of the bag and thinks the shape's great. She values the separate pouch and keyring, and overall is delighted to have this bag. It's on the small side for all-day 'essentials' (her word) but plenty big enough for most occasions.She does feel, though, that it's a bit lightweight and flimsy for the current £55 price. The photos make it look as if it's made of a fairly heavy canvas-like material. In reality, it's lighter-weight than we expected and tends to look a bit shapeless if she puts lumpy things in there.It does at least seem pretty resistant to rain, based on the one rainy outing it's had, the top zip perhaps being the weakest point.The bag is well made, with excellent stitching and a quality lining. It's fairly well decked out with pockets and compartments, some of them zipped and some open for things like phones. The tags on the zips make them very easy to operate. The strap is comfortable and quick to adjust.As a bag-phobic man, I'd struggle to justify £55 for it. I feel it would sell for quite a lot less, without the branding. I was going to duck to avoid heavy missiles, at this point, but it seems my wife agrees. Having said that, if it appeals visually and you value the Kipling name, you're likely to be very happy with it and it would certainly make a terrific gift for the right person.

All the Kipling bags I've seen to date are high quality, well-made and well-designed and this no exception.It's a very lightweight bag weighing a mere 212 grams with its included wallet and measures 25cm tall, 24cm wide and has a 3.5cm gusset. It's made from a hard-wearing, no-rip, polyester which will withstand a good shower and can be re-proofed via spray-on solutions available from camping shops. To the front is a 15 x 24cm pocket with full-width zip and internally is a further full-width zipped pocket 14cm deep plus open pockets to hold a couple of pens, mobile phone and another accessory, eg a folding umbrella. Also included is a matching zip-top wallet/coin purse with two 14x 10 cm pockets plus a smaller pocket between.A metal loop to one end clips to the cord inside to help keep it safe and make it easily retrieved when needed.The bag is a perfect size for carrying daily essentials, sufficiently without being bulky, pockets just where they are needed and a 7" tablet will fit perfectly into the front pocket.My only observation is that the top zip giving access to the main compartment feels too short. It is the narrowest part of the bag and I feel it would have been better to run the zip for a further 2cm at each end for easier access and fit the shoulder strap a little further down the side. It's a minor design flaw but one which, if rectified, would make the bag so much easier to access and use. Otherwise - excellent all round and faultless as usual.

Comes presented in a clear plastic wrap with a gold ribbon tied around so visual presentation was lovely.The fabric feels like a good quality rain coat, has a sheen and feels smooth.The bag has an outer zip across the same width as the front which can hold a notepadInside there are three open pockets attached to the lining, a small one for a pen/ pencil a medium size which would hold maybe a mobile phone and a larger one which could hold a small purseComes with a matching purse which has one zip fastening and two compartments for coins.There is a small monkey keyring.The strap is adjustable. I am 5’6” and with the strap fully extended the top of the bag sits at the bum.The colour is described as party dot,this has a dark brown base colour with matching multi colour circles each circle purple/orange/ green/ beigeThe zips are robust and the zip pull easy to grip, larger than average.Both bag and purse come with the logo Kipling in the centre black circle.This is a day bag, but on the small side for me, not big enough for my everyday bag which I take to work. So best use for me is when I want to just take my phone and purse.The price point is unrealistic and I would not have been happy to have paid £55. I've seen many similar bags in my local market for £10.Would have been 5/5 for a nice looking bagbut...3/5 overall for size and price.

I gave this shoulder bag to my 13 year old daughter, and she absolutely loves it. It is highly fashionable, and comes from the desirable Kipling range. The polka dot print is eye catching, and the material is water resistant, and feels hard wearing too. The bag is a decent size, and contains a zipped compartment, pockets for storage, key fob chain, and a light grey lining material. The shoulder strap is a generous length, and you also get a smaller pouch bag (or purse) included which comes in the same material and design. The Kipling trademark monkey is also included of course, although this one is furry rather than metal. Definitely aimed at younger girls/ladies,this bag represents very good value for money when viewed alongside other similar designer brand items. In fact, it is only a few pounds more expensive than Kipling's own Abela shoulder bag, which is much smaller and far less practical. £55 may sound a lot of money for a shoulder bag, but you have to pay for quality and fashion. This item fits the bill nicely, and if you have a teenage daughter,I can highly recommend it.

Love it this gorgeous bag with a cheeky monkey keyring it is perfect to carry my kindle fire in its so deep it has a front zip outside pocket as well as a zip inside pocket and open pockets for your mobile ect,love the matching purse which also has a secure lock of its own inside the bag to keep your purse safe,love this idea,the purse has 3 sections one for notes the others for cards or change.I absolutely love the design and matches my black coat to perfection it really his very well made and oozes quality and so very unique,I really like the idea of it being waterproof I've had many soggy bag in the past and anyway that would not do my kindle any good the ribbed shoulder strap actually staysput on my sloping shoulders that's a first,oh yes I really love my Kipling bag and to top it off it came all perfectly wrapped with a pretty yellow gold ribbon making this a perfect gift to I am over the moon with it

I got this bag for my teenage daughter who absolutely loves it. Last year the trend seemed to be Kath Kitson bags but I can see these Kipling bags becoming just as popular.The Alexane Shoulder Bag is not the biggest bag in the world at nine and a half inches wide and around nine inches high but perfect for day to day items like phone, purse, keys etc.The material feels very durable and the zips are really sturdy and feel very robust. My daughter says the shoulder length strap is very comfortable and loves the cute little keying monkey which is a great addition to attract the teenage market.If you are looking for a bigger trendy bag then Kipling do have a full range on Amazon from purses rightthrough to travel bags and suitcases.

Kipling do a large range of bags, which seem to appeal to a younger customer base - especially those who like monkeys. The 'Party Dot' colour is used in a range of Kipling bags. It is 100% nylon, which gives it decent durability and even resistance to rain. Maybe because of the material the bag looks a little overpriced, but the detailing is good, with decent zips, plenty of pockets, and you do of course get the monkey key ring!The strap is sufficiently long to allow for across body wearing. The pouch is good and useful. In all a very practical bag for casual wear.

Mum was very pleased with this back. It is light weight but that's just watch she needed, because what's the point of a bag if it's already weighted down before you begin to fill it with things and stuff. The pattern is very jolly too. Oh and monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey, monkey!

This is an excellent quality item, I have the black animal print with gold zips which looks and feels extremely stylish. For a small bag it is very spacious and can fit everyday essentials. Great purchase.
