I love this cat house.Ok. I agree the wood is not very thick and sturdy. But that's reflected in the price. If someone thinks is cheaply made should have sought something more expensive.I think it's perfect if you are willing to do some easy DIY. Just read carefully the bad complaints and think about how to improve it to your necessities.First of all, because it is to be outside when my cat doesn't come in when we are going to bed. It should resist, rain, wind, cold, and frost in the harsh Scottish weather. I don't want my cat wet nor cold. So, before I built it I cover the inside walls with a cheap camping mattress cutting it to size (I bought it in Tesco, cheaper than online)so it will reflect his body heat. I use a stapler gun.Contrary to a good review I didn't cut the mattress in front of the door because the cat pushes plastic curtain in and out with his head and doesn't stop him to be able to enter. Also, I add a rug/fleece which my cat prefers on the bottom (instead of the pillow you see in one of the pics). Then, I built it. The SHORT side walls go inside the LONG front and back walls. This is not clear in the instructions and some costumers though the house was defective because the flooring looks shorter. But it is not. is the fault of the person who assembled it and only needs to place the side walls in the correct position. Maybe the manufacturer should specify this on the instructions to avoid future returns or negative reviews.Instead, screw the roof on to the walls I decided to add Hinges to open it for better cleaning or to change the food. So, now my roof opens no problem.A customer complained was coming water inside the house Well... I had an old tarpaulin and I cut it into size to place it between the roof and the camping matres. And with a Craft Glue Heat Gun, I traced lines on the joint of the roof tiles and where the roof joins the border wood. Also in the roof holes for the screws, I didn't use it.We have non stop rain in Scotland since June 2nd. So far so good it's dry inside. Then, I used a good outdoor paint (I already had for other projects) and gave it a couple of hands to give the wood weather protection.Cats have their own minds and my cat was not very keen thinking we want to trap him inside. I let the roof open during a few days although he went in you can see his unhappy face. :-D. But, after several cold Scottish nights, with rain week after week, he decided was not a bad idea after all. During the past two weeks he decided to spend the nights outdoor and every morning he comes out of his house slowly and stretching without a hurry. During the day if it's warm he sleeps on the roof.A detail of the house is: the floor doesn't touch the ground this way it's warmer and the legs covered with plastic will not be rotten so easily.Do I recommend it: YESBut do not expect a 5 stars cat hotel for the price if you are not willing to do some DIY on your own.I think it is great, in the future probably I'll buy more. I enjoyed it as a little project. We are very happy with it: Me my family and Cohen Grumpy Cat.

I am so pleased with this, our kitten (8 months) started going outside and has on occasion stayed out all night so I got this to make sure he had a shelter should he head back home before we were up (and it made me feel better), it arrived on time and all parts were there with no issues, quality looked good and it was easy enough to put together, but I did need an extra hand to hold each side to align it right for the screws, I would rate this 100% if the lid was actually on a hinge so it's easy to clean and open but I've ended up not screwing the lid on and I'm going to buy hinges instead, at first our cat didn't seem that interested but I placed an off cut of carpet on the bottom and now he loves it,the flap on the door is very close to the base so not much room to add anything to the inside bottom without the flaps then catching, I left a gap in the carpet for where it opens, our cat goes in it at night and in the day if the sun has been on it and kept it warm, not had winter yet to see how it gets on but so far very pleased

Arrived in five pieces, the sides are all tongue and groove wood and made very nicely, one side has a little cute window in it and the door is covered with a plastic strip flap. The roof is wood base covered with really good felt. The floor is wood but there are gaps in it so decided to add insulation to make sure it stays warm. Was fairly easy to put together with one person just a little fiddly. Actually really solid once built. I bought this for a stray cat that currently sleeps under our BBQ, took a day for her to check it out but now sleeping happily in it. I think for the UK where its a bit cold at times you need to insulate the floor otherwise can imagine it would be windy/drafty inside.Excellent though for the cost, surprisingly good!

Mr Norris loves his new "rain shelter"He takes refuge when its raining outside and I have not let him in... Perfect. The house is well built and easy to assemble. I did not screw the roof on as you can then open the house up to clean it or put a piece of carpet in it for added warmth in the winter. The house took 20 mins to assemble fully and is very sturdy. I painted the house with weather paint so it lasts a bit longer.Cats also sit on the roof so a good dual purpose feature. Not sure if this is worth the full retail price. I bought it for £40 at the time of purchase and I would say this is the price I would expect to pay for this house.ProsWell builtLarge enough for a catWindowConsExpensiveFlatPack

This product is first class easy to assemble, our cat absolutely loves it she is in it all the time, when we put it outside she started rolling around it to say thanks, only one problem the floor should be about an inch lower to accommodatethe heat blanket as the plastic strips on the door don, t flap down so we had to cut about an inch off so the flaps would hang down to stop the draught.I would certainly recommend. We have not screwed the roof on as we have used two elastic bungees around the whole hutch making access easy to change the blanket etc plus two small slabs to add weight in sever gales as we have them here in Wales.

I think this is great! You don't have to screw the lid on if you don't want to and my cats had no issues getting in and out. I'm surprised it doesn't cost more. It seems very sturdy, looks great, is waterproof and way better than a lot of others I had looked at. I got this for the cats that live outside that don't belong to me, but may buy another for mine for inside as they really like it!

Was very easy to assemble.I was worried that our adopted cat (former stray) who does not like enclosed spaces would not take to it, but she made her way into it after a few hours and has since been making constant use of it.There was very heavy rain the last few nights and I've been checking on it to ensure it has remained dry and so far so good.Very happy with the purchase.

Lovely little cat house. My cat is very wary of anything new so it took a while for him to get used to going inside. Putting treats in to tempt him did the trick. He is a big cat but fits in snugly and likes to look out through the transparent flap which is a great idea. It shelters him well from wind and rain when he doesn't want to come back into the house.

It’s a sturdy cat box. Will give good protection on cooler days. I’ve put a lightweight ,small ,waterproof cushion in the bottom to make it more comfortable for my cat. It’s more roomy inside than I anticipated . My British short hair cat has plenty of room to curl up in. Worth the money . I can recommend it.

25.4.2020

Looks really good. I treated it with some fence weatherproofing just in case and so far it seems to be weather resistant. My cat didn't like the rustling sound of the thermal insert (she's a bit of a wuss puss!) so I just took it out and replaced it with something else.

Very cute and well made. The only issue we had was putting the roof on as some of the screws in the sides lined up directly with the screws needed for the top so we had to screw the roof screws at an angle to get them to go in.

23.4.2020

Great other then that it needs some varnish to protect the wood and something soft inside for cat as there is a little bit of gap on the bottom.I put in newspaper and a little rug. Big enough for one medium cat.

6.5.2020

Our two garden cats love them. Come rain or shine they use them. We have not secured the roof so we can access them easily to change the bedding and also used a varnish to protect them.

7.4.2021

Very happy. We bought the thermal blanket recommended to go underneath then stuck it down with duck tape as there's gaps in the bottom.. we then put one of the cats blankets in

My cat echo loves this. She’s an outdoor cat so obviously needed some sort of comfy shelter for the colder days, but she’ll even go in and sleep in it when the suns out
