I brush my 10 year old indoor medium hair female Calico cat several times a day so I really do not have a lot of problems with cat hair on the furniture. Once in a while my cat has hairball issues and this is the main reason for purchasing the ShedMonster De-Shedding tool. Compared to the Furminator, this tool is more gentle on the cat's skin. It does not pull or damage the healthy fur and does not cause painful brush burns and skin irritation. It glides easily through healthy fur and removes the cat's matted or tangled undercoat. The tool is made of heavy duty plastic. The De-Shedding comb or teeth is stainless steel and can penetrate deep into the coat. There are two sets of teeth, one with smooth round edges and the other with slightly sharper edges. I tested this tool on my own skin first to determine where the sharp edges were and found it to be very gentle on the skin. This tool is built to last a long time and can easily be washed after each use. Following are some tips for using this tool:1. Inspect your cat's skin to ensure there are no sores, cuts or scratches prior to using this tool.2. When brushing through the coat, use long gentle strokes in the direction of hair growth. Note that ONLY the smooth rounded edges of this tool should contact your cat's skin.3. Pull slowly through the tangled hair or matted area to lessen any potential skin irritation and make the experience more enjoyable for your cat. Keep in mind that repeated brushing in the same area may result in thinning of your cat hair.4. DO NOT use this tool around sensitive areas such as legs, paws, genital or ears as it may result in cuts and possibly infections.5. DO NOT use the ShedMonster excessively! Monitor your cat's hair shedding, consult with your vet and always err on the side of caution to prevent removing the cat's external coat.I would highly recommend this tool and emphasize proper usage and handling by following the above steps.

My husband and I debated forever about how to control the cats' shedding problem. We purchased brushes with the spikes and with the tip covers and got all kinds of different things. The reason we never got this one right away is because it says not to use near sensitive areas and we weren't sure if the cats would end up getting hurt from this.I opened it as soon as I got it and tried it on one cat. The brush is gentle, the blades are covered by the design of it and she never felt any pain from the brushing. She loved getting brushed with this which is remarkable because she's one of the pickiest and meanest cats in the world. The blades picked up a ton of tough fur and after a few hair balls it had nothing else left to grab. When I used it on the other cat I had similar results. He didn't like the brushing as much but I think its because he can't sit still. I was able to remove a lot of fur that was dirty, loose or tough from him as well. They both used to have a hairball problem and after we started regularly brushing them with this tool its been under control for the most part.I really liked this product and its design is very smart.

Okay, I can't say enough good about this brush. I had a pile of undercoat easily come off my 10 month old persian without him giving any fox about what I was doing! He purred the whole time and the pile was as big as he was! The pile looked just like the pictures other people posted. As a result, his coat looks 'brand new' in the sense that it's shiny and all the under coat came off without any problem. I would suggest just being gentle because it does get a little grabby on long hair, but the cat was purring the whole time so no worries on his part! This was a purchase well worth the money!! If you're considering this, just do it - get one!!!

My parents’ had this for their dog (my “sis” hehe), and I wanted one for my dog when she and I move out of their house, but she couldn’t remember where she got it from; I always try amazon for brand name products, and I get lucky (like I did with this!).I used this on my dog, who has a THICK coat like a german shep (see pics, she’s the black one), and I could not believe the amount of hair it collects. It also gathers it so nicely too, where her stray hairs aren’t flying around everywhere. My dog sits still when I use it, and it doesn’t seem to bother her at all. It is super quick, simple, and effective to use. Highly recommend.

I have a Maine Coon who gets a zillion mats in his fur this time of year, but hates to be brushed or combed. He is not thrilled about this tool, but tolerates it, & it removes handfuls of fur! And I’ve had NO mats since I purchased this tool, after having to cut a few out already this year.My medium coated cat sheds a ton of fine hair, this tool captures that, too. She has always liked being brushed, and still prefers a brush to this tool, but this works SO much better!I just bought a second one, & will probably buy the dog one, as well.Ostler pet grooming tools have been my preference for years, for my horses, dogs & cats!

I have a long haired ragdoll who loves nothing more than to leave white hairs everywhere he goes.I usually brush him once every 1 or 2 days and will still shed like nothing else! This is great however. It removes so much loose hair and the cat loves it (especially on his chest and belly (gently)). He's always had a really bushy tail that sheds badly and didn't particularly like it brushed, but this is great for that. If you're gentle and remove the hair after every brush, my cat doesn't mind it at all. His tail is now less bushy and doesn't shed hair as much!

I ordered this with some trepidation because the reviews were all over the place. I am happy to say I could not be more pleased. This is my first long-haired cat and when she started to lose her winter fur it was a nightmare. Not any more! This tool is the best at getting the underfur out. Be warned though...de-shed outside because the fur will be flying. I think some of the bad reviews were because of holding the tool at the wrong angle. Just keep trying because it does indeed work! Now if I could just learn to spin I could have a kitty scarf.

I got this because my cat was having a bad hairball issue several weeks ago. I hadn't been brushing him as much as I should, so to combat the issue I bought this. It works incredibly well. As the packaging warns, don't overbrush. You'll cause bald/thin spots on your cat.I use this paired with a slicker brush, the ones with the bristles. I go over with the slicker brush first, and then the Shedmonster. Going over it with the slicker brush first prevents pulling/tearing out fur that hasn't shed yet, so should help prevent thinning the coat.

I have tried several cat brushes trying to find the right one, for my two cats. It seemed none actually got the loose hair that I kept getting every time I just petted them. They are medium haired cats and they shedding from my boy was terrible and my female was having constant hairballs. I bought this brush and it really really gets so much hair, far more than I even realized was loose to begin with. And it does not pull on their fur and they seem quite content to let me brush them so double win!

Way more affordable than a Furminator and works just as well! I have a Turkish Van mix and while he's a shorthaired cat, his white fur has the thickness and softness of his purebred parent. He sheds A LOT and leaves fur all over the house, so our dark carpet looks dingy. I go over him with the ShedMonster once or twice a week and it pulls off enough fur to make a softball-sized pile. He loves it because he thinks he's being petted and it cuts way down on the shedding. Highly recommend!

Bought this to brush my long haired small cat. She hates to be brushed, but Having bought this, she can tolerate being brush more. It doesn't seem to hurt her as bad. It gets her undercoat very well. I would recommend the small size for cats. It doesn't work on my shorthair cat, but he likes the bristle type brush so that's fine. I'd highly recommend this if you have a long hair cat who gets mats and/or you need to brush through the undercoat. 12/10 recommend.

Bought this for my kitten because he's been shedding a lot lately and regular brushes don't seem to do anything but irritate him. I've never used any of those expensive products, but decided to try this after reading many positive things. All I can say is WOW! I took him outside and after 10 minutes of brushing his back, stomach, and tail I almost had enough fur to make a coat out of lol. The product really works and am completely satisfied as of right now!

Fluff, fluff everywhere! I have a Maine Coon that hates any kind of brushing. It's been a chase and a fight to try to get her to sit still. I don't know why, but with this product she sat and purred! I ended up with a GIANT fluffball! She looks great and hasn't been leaving such massive amounts of hair all over everything! Thanks so much for helping me fight the battle against the war on fluff! Amazing product!

Wow I Really Like This Deshedding Tool. It Really Untangles My Cat's Fur & It Took Off Alot Of Loose Hairs Off Them. I've Always Used Their Combs & Brushes But Doesn't Do The Trick So After Using The Deshedding Tool. It Made It So Much Better & Easy For Me To Use. Now Both Of My Cat's Are Satisfied , This Thing Works & It's Safe & Gentle. Just Use Long Strokes & Be Gentle On Their Fur :)

Wasn't sure if it was going to work for my long haired kitten... but it works great! and it does not irritate the cat. This tool is quite nice, the construction is very good, it has a good weighted feel in your hands, and it looks like it will last for many generations of cats/dogs to come. If I manage to lose it, I will buy again.
