I enjoy a dram of whisky, and this particular one has been produced on the Isle of Jura, well known for its 16 year and 18 year whiskys.Jura Seven Wood is one of their latest inceptions. The name Seven Wood, as you may have guessed, denotes that it has been matured in seven oak barrels, not just any oak barrels, but French and American. The first is an American white oak used for Bourbon, followed by Vosges, Bertranges,Jupilles, Allier, Troncais and Limousin. The latter being forest regions within France where the oak is used for barrels to store and mature French fine wines. As you can imagine, the complex notes infused into the whisky lead to quite a few delicate aromas consisting of malt, red wine, vanilla, tannin, red berries and gooseberries. After a little while there is a hint of cinnamon, nutmeg and butterscotch. When it comes to taste or palate, there is a dryness associated with it, a subtle hint of smoke, and again the tannin, red wine, vanilla and oak spices come through in abundance. When it comes to "finish", the Seven Wood leaves a lingering red berry sweetness and again a hint of oak tannins and vanilla.I must admit that I've found the Jura Seven Wood an interesting, elegant and pleasing whisky. I would struggle to say which French oak imparts the balanced wine-finished taste to give this subtle flavour, but this lovely bottle is one which I would recommend to any whisky or wine connoisseur.

Had the pleasure of purchasing this great dram recently .."Jura Seven Wood " matured in American oak bourbon barrels and then 6 different French wine casks .. with aromas of sweet red grape ,honey ,vanilla and very slight peat that tempts you in with anticipation of glory and delight .. and it just does deliver with tastes of Seville oranges ,cherry's,dark chocolate ,coffee and hints of ginger spice that tantalises the tongue ..the finish is exceptional with a warm glow and hints of treacle, liquorice, candied orange coming through with a drop of smoke to finish a truly amazing drop.

Mine was a gift. Jura Origin is a favourite so I was excited to try this superior distillation.I do find that the first glasses out of a bottle are not the best to judge a whiskey on, so I decanted a third and left for a couple of days.A little in a tumbler with a single ice cube and I got honey, vanilla and heather tones with a pleasant warmth.Depending on your palate, whether this is worth twice the price of Origin, would be a decision for someone with developed taste. If you've burned your taste buds off then you would not appreciate it for the extra cost.

I've started to become a bit of a Jura fan over the last 12 months and have slowly been building my collection so this was a natural addition and certainly does not disappoint! A little more complex than those I had before due to the seven casks, but still finishes with that subtle hint of smokiness that Jura is known for. This is definitely a whisky to be enjoyed and restocked!

I was really intrigued by this whisky, it is apparently made with whisky drawn from 7 different French oak casks and it certainly does not disappoint! There is a whole arrays of different flavours and delivers something new with every sip. Its very well balanced, rich and smooth with a slight spicy kick.Definitely one to add to the collection!

This whiskey is twisted, it's not what you would expect, but it has a great flavour. The taste is strangely complex, I would definitely recommend trying it out, it's got a great kick with a sweet twist and a lovely dark aftertaste. Worth the risk.

Received this as a present and absolutely loved it. Was gutted when my bottle was empty. Not one for sharing and a bit more than I would normally to pay for a bottle but would probably buy for a special occasion.
