This is my favourite jewel match game ever, and I've played many. It keeps to the basic Jewel Quest theme, matching 3 or more jewels to turn the board to gold but offers many-a-twist to keep the game fresh. There are boards that require you to drop keys into locks, keep monkeys in cages, melting ice blocks with fire jewels and more, but all the time keeping to the basic Jewel Quest board which we know and love. There is also a "puzzle" element to the game, with rewards of puzzle pieces for solving boards, which you use to complete a picture of a character on a family tree. When complete you open up that characters boards to play. There is a problem with the game freezing especially at or very near the end of a jewel board.Tip: If solving time is running out and the timer starts to tick, if you know you won't be able to solve the puzzle before time runs out, click "restart board" and try again. This will save you from the game freezing at the end and you having to switch off completely. One more tip: When you want to switch off, BEWARE! Make sure you quit the game properly and go back to the main menu. I switched off mid-game once, and when I turned it on again it told me the data had been corrupted and deleted, so had to start from scratch again!!. After my initial hissy-fit, I decided to play the game through once again from the beginning, finding I still enjoyed it immensely, proving it has replay value as well. So, software problems aside, the actual game itself is top notch, so stick with it! You'll be glad you did.

The jewel quest series of match 3 games is really good, and this one is up there with the best. The initial tutorial is clear, and there are several different types of board and game as you progress, which keeps the game fresh.I'm not so bothered about the story line and skipped most of it.In the later stages, some of the boards are very difficult, and have to be done again and again to complete them. The frustration as time runs out with just 2 squares to complete is incredible! But it's great to find a game that takes a bit of effort.I also experienced the freezing of screens, but only around 6 times in the whole game. I switched off and started again, and this hasn't stopped me giving the game 5 stars because it's so good. When you complete the levels, you are rewarded with Expert level and can replay any board again, but they've all been made harder. This is a welcome bonus, and a pleasant change from some games that just end at the last level.

I really liked this game but wow it was hard towards the end. There was a story line about tracing a family tree backwards but to be honest, I didn't pay much attention to that- the jewel boards are my addiction! The boards are different to those in the other games that I have -in one little monkeys have to be put in cages and the little critters pop out again with very little provocation. As you complete each jewel board, you are given pieces of portrait which you attach to silhouetted members of the family, so in essence you have a jigsaw piece which you have to fit in one of 4 or 5 jigsaws. An interesting distraction from the jewel boards!Another difference with this jewel quest is that you don't have any awards to help you clear the board so you just have to persevere! In summary,I thoroughly recommend this game.If you haven't tried jewel quests before you might also like Jewel quest solitaire which also requires you to complete card games.

I am pleased to find another reviewer talking about this game sticking and failing. It is really spoiling the game for me, I have all the others but this one is driving me nuts. I get close to completing a challenge and then the game freezes, the only way to get going is to shut down and start again.I have got to carry on because I hate to be beaten by it.It would have been great apart from this. I have no idea why it does this, can anyone tell me? I am no techno expert,is this built into the game or a fault.

This is the hardest and best of the jewel quests and took me ages to complete. I agree it does stick and can be very irritating! Be careful putting the puzzles together - I got one wrong so restarted the game only to get stuck again and realised I had put someone together wrong - the heads don't always go on the bodies you think they do! But it was great fun and I managed to complete it just in time before HP Lego 5-7 arrived. Husband thinks I'm crazy and all gaming is a waste of time but it is fun!

i love this game as in most of the reviews its hard at times and easy at others but it just keeps freezing up why it spoils the game have to keep switching it off and starting again frustrating but for this would have given it 5 stars it has kept me on it for what seems to be ages cant get past Tobias Pack Maria Arteche but i will persevere but if it freezes once more gonna find something else.

I had read the reviews and hoped against hope I would not have the problem with the game freezing! Not to be!! It would have had 5* +, as I am really enjoying it, except the bit after 3 times of failing it says enough is enough and locks up!!! I am disappointed about that, but it is still a challange, an even bigger one to not fail three times, hehe!!

i got this for hubby who has a nintendo ds xl, he has said that this is quite difficult to see on a ds as the characters on the screen are fairly small, he said that for anyone with problems with their eyesight it would be difficult for them to see it properly, but overall he likes this game and states its quite challenging.

I love the jewel quests and this is proving to be challenging. Agree with other reviewers complaining about the 'freezing' of the game but find that although not prove too much of a problem, except a couple of times when I had actually completed and board and then it froze, so had to do it again, annoying!!

I have a lot of this type of game, including a few in the Jewel Quest series, but after the first one they were quite disappointing. They have excelled themselves with this one, however. It is good fun, challenging, infuriating and rewarding all in one! A must for Match 3 fans who like a bit of a twist!

This review is written on the feedback i got from my friend who it was purchased for she was happy with the service and method of delivery and delighted with the actual game no negative comments pleased she could carry on the quest not sure what that means but sure all ds game fans will.

This was the best game so far of this series. Not only did I enjoy the jewel boards but the building of the family tree with the story was highly entertaining. This game took me nearly six weeks to complete and I will do it again in the near future.I would recommend this for anyone.

I've got all the DS cradle of rome type games and this one is the best one that I have brought. It starts really easy but then gets harder and harder.I've been doinf this game for weeks and weeks and still havent finished it, but as soon as I do I will start it again. A must buy

Usually 3+ match games get really easy. This one keeps you occupied for some time. Love the different variations, and the limits, as just plain 3+match games, you only work towards the score, here you actually need to think to get next level open! Addictive!

13.11.2011

this has to be one of the best three in a row games out there.this one differs though because you are also looking for characters so you can then get onto more levels.this game is a lot more challenging than other three in a row games.
