The Good:Look & Feel - I generally like how the 500BT looks. The fabric around the band looks sleek and I don't feel any discomfort when keeping them on my head for a while. The ear muffs are nice and soft; don't heat up my ears when I have the headphones on for more than 30 minutes; and they do a good job at isolating most environmental sounds considering they aren't noise cancelling.Sound (Bluetooth) - The 500BT sound good. The vocals are clear, but there is almost no bass when the bass mode is off through the JBL Headphones app, so I would recommend keeping them on and adding some bass through equalizers. The overall quality is still good and I would use these as my daily driver.Features & Hardware - Bluetooth is easy to connect and quick, too. I love the Google Assisstant integration and the fact that you can touch the cap on the left to activate it. It's quite useful when needed. I also appreciate Ambient Sound and TalkThru as well. Both are equally as usefull when I turn them on and do a decent job at drawing sound form the surrounding area, but could be clearer at times - it's not consistent. Being able to fold the headphones are a nice finish to the build. The Bad:Build Quality - I like the matte finish, but the plastic build makes it look cheaper than it should be. The 500BT I got always made cranking sounds whenever I rested the headphones on my neck (Mostly behind the muffs) so it was quite irritating. I don't understand why USB Type-A is still being used to charge the headphones. It's 2019, please update the next ones to Type-C.Features - Yeah being able to touch the surface of the left ear muff to activate the assistant is nice, but I often tapped that area by accident on more than one occasion, meaning that I could always hear my Google Assistant talking by itself when I don't want it to. It's quite annoying and I wish it would only work when the headphones are on my head or that they were less sensitive. Buttons - I don't like how all the buttons are on one side. I often forget which buttons are which and it takes time to learn. Even after a week of usage, I still struggle. The ambient button and bluetooth button should be placed on a different side. These headphones needa pouch since they cost a bit. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've been trialing my son's JBL E55BT headphones (after having been surprisingly let down by a Sennheiser pair) and I got on with the E55's really well. They've been superceded by the Live500BT though, a very similar device but with a few extras, hence I bought a pair. The Live500BT are a comfortable pair of phones and collapse well for travel. Unlike the E55's, these have a metal hinge on the cups which seems more rugged. Supplied with both USB charging cable and a decent 3.5mm cable to hardwire the phones (for when you can't wirelessly connect), they charged quickly and connected easily to all devices I needed.Sound quality is fairly good, however this can be tweaked by use of the JBL headphone app for your smartphone.Although not massively useful, you can set EQ preferences, update the headphones firmware and setup the JBL's for either Google or Alexa voice assist. I use the latter and this was easily setup, despite other reviews, and it works well. I can stream Amazon Music direct to the phones (albeit via phone app) and this works great. The only irritation which is ok once you're aware, is that you can turn on the voice assist by tapping the left earpiece, as this contains a discreet proximity sensor, built-in for the purpose. This quirk means you can accidentally interrupt audio playback, just by shuffling or adjusting the headphones during useOf course, the Live500BT's also provide good handsfree conversation over your mobile phone, both inbound audio and my voice to caller have been fine so far, no issues with voice traffic either way.Simple and effective controls operate volume, call accept/reject etc, track advance +/- etc., all fairly intuitive.Battery life so far has been excellent and the phones haven't failed on any BT connection as yet.If it weren't for the occasional quirk of turning on voice assist, these would be a blistering 5 star. You can completely turn off the feature however, so if you don't need Mr Googl or Madam Alexa, this problem will never materialise. All in all, great headphones and very pleased so far ... but I did manage to bag them during a flash sale (I'd struggle to recommend them at their full RRP).

I paired these to my phone within seconds. Playing music sounds great, with a decent (but not overbearing) bass, clear midrange and nice treble. Then I tried the Google Assistant linking. Oh dear.Firstly, the instructions are written in about 2pt text; totally illegible to anyone under 21 without hawk-like eyesight. I literally had to use a magnifying glass to try and read the instructions. Message to JBL: stop trying to include all 20 European languages on one sheet in some soft of attempt to save money and instead print out a decent sized instruction sheet for each one. Yes, I'll throw them all away apart from the English one, but I have an eco-friendly recycling bin.My phone automatically prompted me to download the JBL app, which I did, and which then caused havoc with my bluetooth (already connected to my JBL headphones) but it insisted I stop that connection and reconnect using the app. That didn't go well and it took quite a few minutes to get back into the same exact position. The music, however, still sounded good.Connecting to Alexa still hasn't been successful, despite repeated attempts and repeated switching the headphones on and off as suggested. Frankly, I can't be bothered any longer, as my house is already so full of Alexa gadgets one is usually within earshot of my whispered "Alexa..."It took two attempts to get the JBL app to control the headphones. But now I have an equaliser and Ambient Aware at my fingertips.Comfort-wise they are bit "narrow". I know I have a mutant head size but it's a pity they are so firmly clamped to my ears in this hot weather. And they move my lightweight glasses. There is no hiss that I can hear when music is not playing, as to be expected from a digital source, but not to be taken for granted. However, touch the ambient aware and you can hear everything around you, including fans, PCs, everything!A pretty good pair of headphones so far (and they are becoming more comfortable even as I am writing this, a bit like a pair of shoes loosening up when being worn).Great stuff. Just get that instruction leaflet reprinted pronto.

So, these JBL headphones are comfortable and have a great sound to them – which is the first thing to note. They can fast charge and you get around 30 hours of battery – the charging is through a micro-usb, an unusual choice given that most devices are using usb-c now but not a negative.I did find that the initial pairing was a pain as my device (Galaxy S9) just didn’t pick it up on a scan but switching the Bluetooth on and off on the phone sorted that out. Perhaps connected, and certainly a niggle, is the fact that when switching the headphones on subsequently it never always immediately paired and occasionally the headphones need to be switched off and on again (I do not have this issue with any other paired device on my phone).I also noticed that switching off didn’t always actually switch the headphones off (in fact they seemed to go into pairing mode occasionally). You can actually pair two devices so that might have something to do with that. I would, however, recommend that (through the app) you set them to shut down after 10 minutes of no music – the default is they remain on. The app also has 3 graphic equalizer pre-sets (you cannot access without the app) and a personal one you can set.The headphones have a setting called TalkThru, which drops the volume allowing conversation, and Ambient Aware, which amplifies ambient sounds, as a safety feature. The headphones will also connect with Alexa or Google Assistant with the push of the side panel, for me pointless but others may like that. Other than that side button, the main controls are on the rim of the right phone and are a tad unintuitive – the volume up/down & pause being a continuum of one button that you are blindly feeling for – a small thing but important. The phone comes with a charging cable, a woven wire for connecting the headphones to a device (useful for those times when Bluetooth is inappropriate. Given the price of the headphones I would have liked to have seen a carry case included but they do fold for storage.

Out of the box, these have an aesthetic which has clearly been crafted with an eye to quality. The frame material feels sturdy, whilst also being lightweight enough that you don't feel it much while on. The over-ear cans are comfortable, and sat well during an eight hour journey, without rubbing etc. You'll be alright wearing these through the day, and they took being thrown in and out of a backpack without complaint.Connectivity is decent. Finding the controls to enable/disable bluetooth was a bit of a challenge, due to their being black-on-black, but having done so, was able to pair this set with an iPhone in a minute or two. Once connected, didn't experience any trouble with sound drops or any intermittent issues - the experience was rock solid throughout. These also come with a wired connector, if you need one, which can be handy if you don't want to drain the battery. I appreciated the inclusion for convenience, and it's of decent length, too.The battery claims it will run for 30 hours. I believe it; it didn't drop below half during an extended 15 hour usage pattern. It does charge off USB-C, which is unusual, but handy if you already have those in your ecosystem. There's integration with Google Assistant too, as well as several sound modes to allow for a quick blend between headphone and other audio cues - one which exaggerates ambient noise, for example. Speaking of which, the noise cancelling is pretty solid, screening out both plane engines and train track noise easily. The sound from the headphones is crisp and clear, too.The only slight complaint I have is that when the audio was sufficiently loud there was a minor amount of bleed out of them, to other people - though this wouldn't be a huge problem unless they were sat right next to you. Dialling the volume down a bit got around this, though!Overall, this is a decent pair of wireless headphones for day-to-day use, and well worth picking up.

There’s a lot to love about these headphones. The 30 hour charge life is outstanding and so far I have never run out of charge. It charges throughout a micro USB cable and doesn’t take long to fully charge it. It says two hours in the literature but it seems to be significantly less for me - maybe that’s 2 hours when they’re totally drained? Sound quality is very good - all round I’m happy with it and that includes phone calls. There have been no issues at all receiving phone calls with them and conversation flows well. It comes with a 3.5mm optional cable if you want to manually connect to device. I’ve shoved this away in the bottom of my rucksack just in case but I can’t think of when I’d actually use it.One thing it doesn’t have it a case. My old headphones has a lightweight hard shell case for easy storage but this doesn’t. When buying in this price range I’d have thought a case would have been included. They do compactly fold away and appear to be safe enough when thrown in the bottom of my rucksack for daily use. They are very comfortable to wear and, although not noise cancelling, they do a good job of minimising background noise. I’m pairing them to an iPhone and I’ve had not issues setting up the connection or keeping the connection. There’s a few features here that I don’t make use of. I don’t have Alexa at home so that functionality is redundant to me. I’m wasn’t really fussed about downloading the app but did so to access the equalising features. It quite fun experimenting with it and creating different presets - for instance having a particular bass heavy preset for the gym. The buttons are all one one ear and after using this for a week or so I still get a bit confused over which is which - perhaps not the greatest thought has gone into this? Overall there are a few minor nuggles like the lack of a case but otherwise these are impressive headphones are just short of 5 stars.

Headphones are a serious business to me.I use them a lot every day. Especially when commuting to and from work, but also often when in work.So I need a good quality headphone that lasts and has clear, crisp sound.I am glad to say that these fit the bill.First impressions are they look well-made but not anything more special than say a £50 pair. But they do not need too. Nothing flash. They look good and functional. The headband part comes with a fabric cover which gives it a tough exterior. The headphones themselves twist and fold in for easy storage. And the padded earphones fit over the ear well and are padded for comfort. They have a button to flip to turn on. A pause/play button and volume/skip track button.I would say the on button is a little close to the others which means you might hit is rather than the others. But after you have got used to it this goes away.It also has a Bluetooth button. Though actually unless I accidently hit this when I turned it on the headset already showed as an option to connect to on my iPhone in the Bluetooth area so no fiddly pairing up.Now the sound is truly excellent.I tested it on several things. In music I tested is with classical, pop, rock and some techno and all came out with a crystal clear sound and a good base. They really have put some work into the sound quality on these. Next I tested a podcast which is spoken word. Once again it was very clear and rich in sound. It was whilst in podcast mode I listened to them on a busy road going for my bus. And I have to say the noise cancellation works very well. Background noises were reduced to near nothing and just the spoken word of the podcast came through. These are a great pair of headphones certainly worth the cost.

The JBL Live 500BT is one of the best headphones out there right now for their price range. From the moment you unbox them you feel like you are getting a premium experience. JBL has one of the best unboxing presentation. The headphones look amazing and the blue that I received from the JBL backstage pass to review is on fire. The fabric headband looks amazing and adds comfort as well. The JBL 500BT is packed with features. Google Assistant and Alexa work flawless. Having an assistant on headphones is very useful. More useful than I thought. Another useful feature is the multi connection button. You can toggle from one device to another with just a hit of a button. This is very convenient and useful. The most useful feature for me is the ambient aware. On top of all these features the headphones sound amazing. They are on the bass heavy side. Somehow, they are well rounded with a wide sound stage. I listen to a wide range music and everything sounded amazing. Also, there is an app that you can dial in the sound that you want. The comfort is good. The ear cups made my ears a little hot after a while. But I was able to keep them on for long time with no discomfort then that. The only short coming with these is phone call quality. It is not good at all. There were times that I needed to take a call on my phone and disconnect from the headset because the person could not hear me. But These headphones are great at this price. If something happened to these cans today, I would buy them tomorrow without question. So, no doubt get these cans people! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have been using the JBL-400 and recently stepped up to the JBL-500. The overall sound quality is better, they are over-ear and opposed to on-ear and have a bit longer battery life. The volume is nice and high, and once again you can use the app to control the phone as well as the buttons on its right earpiece. The headphones are normally used with Bluetooth but a cable is provided to do it the old-fashioned way and it serves as a backup in case you run out of power (unlikely with 30 hours battery life). The app is useful especially when you are starting out and haven't memorised the position of all the buttons. It also allows you to interact with a voice assistant (either the Google or the Alexa ones).A lot of my comments about the 400 apply to the 500 too.The headphones I find slightly tight no matter how I adjust them and I wouldn't want to spend hours wearing them because the pressure on my skull is slightly uncomfortable. The button to turn Bluetooth on and off is annoying and I don't see why anyone would want this, whereas it is all too easy to press. I love the ambiance feature which actually amplifies background sound to the extent that you can overhear nearby conversations. They are a good set of headphones and the stand-out features for me is the ability to use them to reach out beyond just listening to audio, i.e. making calls, using Google/Alexa, amplifying sounds, etc).

the first thing that the buyers of Bt live should consider is what they get for 150$hey this is a great Totally wireless headphones with Google Bixbi Siri integrated(even key is dedicated) however there are a huge number of other great features that I did like, here are some of them* The build quality: the headphones are built with quality materials(though I'm, not an expert I can feel it). Moreover, headphone's construction let me had it on my head firmly, even during my workout, though, I did try to have a lighter session with minimum sweat!* it has talkthru and ambientaware which you can control through buttons on the left side as well!the connection with my Galaxy Note 9 was great no interruptions mentioned.also, it connected to my phone flawlessly * the signature JBL sound and the android app made the features of Live 500 more customizable. There is an EQ button and I could create my own presets as well. The Bass is great, I could even feel the vibration on my ears bcs of BASS which was amazing., however, there is no active noise canceling and the sound could have been better(yet, the price should have been higher in that case)with that said this is a decent pair of headphones( especially if you are a JBL fun as I)will update my review later ... I've had my JBLs for a week now and my findings are that overall it's a decent pair of headphones with some room for improvement. The sound quality is ok, bass is a bit lacking for this price point. As these go over the eat they are great for cancelling out ambient noise, so you need to be careful when walking in busy city centres, otherwise they are great for train journeys. They are easy to use and pair with multiple devices, no issues whatsoever here.Battery life seems to going forever, I've used these for approximately 10 hours so far and the battery is holding strong. Voice assistant feature is great, but it does struggle recognising words in a crowded or loud environment.Call quality is spot on,so far I've been comfortable in making calls and the person I'm talking to has no problems hearing me.Finally this brings me to the build quality, the headphones are holding strong so far, but my concern is that the design and quality may not stand the test of time and don't seem to be as robust as lower price point headphones I've previously had, but only time will tell. Overall my experience has been pleasant and i would recommend these for daily commutes and long train journeys for music, radio and calls.

First off with design these headphones are absolutely gorgeous with their slight metallic paint and I love the fabric design along the top. When it comes to wearing them the ear cushions are very soft and I didn’t notice any discomfort after a couple hours use. They can be extended to find even the largest heads, and the fabric at the top keeps the top of your head comfortable as well. Sound quality is where there headphones absolutely shine, the audio is super bright and vibrant with amazing clarity. Bass is also present but not overwhelmingly, you can also download the jbl headphone app to tweak your eq settings. Overall these headphones give you awesome quality in the design department and sound, and also they include many great features that more expensive headphones don’t offer, for example you can simply tap the left side to bring up google assistant, and with a tap of the button you can make it sound as if you’re not wearing them at all with jbls special mode called ambient aware and also talk through. Overall these are some of the best headphones for the price and I highly recommend them. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a high quality product, that has the kind of precision sound and technical features that JBL products are known for. I downloaded the JBL app, which allowed for customization of sound, which is really great!! The talk-thru, ambient aware modes are helpful too! Headphones are light and comfortable enough to use at gym. I might always prefer noise cancelling, but this over-ear model does a very good job keeping outside noise out. Linking to Alexa was easy enough. Still need to try Google Assistant. On the negative side, Quick Start guide is a disaster to use (seriously, 18 languages in one?), and there is no downloadable version on the web site yet. Here is my overall summary:Things I liked: Sound quality, look and feel, weight, battery life, JBL My headphones AppThings to improve on: Buttons on side are really hard to distinguish by touch alone, use for phone calls is frustrating because have trouble hearing own voice, printing on Quick Start Guide is microscopic, basic bag/case would be nice [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Got this in the mail today c/o JBL. Well made on ear headphones with thick cushions finished with leatherette and woven fabric covered headband. Used it for exactly 3 hours, still was comfortable even when worn for extended periods. Sound was excellent. Hitting even those high pitched tweeter sounds and on point with those low, satisfyingly head-pounding bass undertones.Definitely noise cancelling with convenient on-headphone buttons to turn on or off noise cancellation with “Ambient” and Walkthru” settings. Nicely done so you don’t have to take your headphones off when somebody walks up to strike a conversation.Bluetooth connection was quick (under 5 seconds). Can connect with “Alexa” or can be used with Google Assistant.A definite contender against all other “noise-cancelling” headphones out there with very nice, never before seen features. Will surely outrank the competition with it’s sleek design, durability, long battery life and very high quality sound. Definitely a homerun! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The first pair of JBL headphones I owned were the wireless bluetooth earbuds, and I fell in love with the sound. When you put them on, it feel likes you're in a world where its just you and the music. I had to part from my wireless earbuds, though because my lifelong eczema spread to my ears. I was devastated--music is my life and JBL truly has the best sound out there. So, when I found out that the JBL LIVE 500BT existed, I was ecstatic. I could have my beloved JBL sound without the pain of my eczema. When my new JBLs came in the mail, I was super excited to try them and see if they had the same wondrous sound as the others. And I have to say...the sound is better! I didn't even know it was possible! The headphones themselves feel like little clouds cupping around your ears, and I think they look really cute on too. Also, they have a really nice and easy bluetooth connection. They even have Alexa! I'm so happy that these exist, they're 100% my favorite headphones!
