I’m always on the lookout for a decent pair of travelling headphones and they have to pass a couple of tests - they have to stay on your head and not drop off whenever you lean forward, they have to sound good and be loud enough to block out train, plane and automobile sound, they should have a wireless Bluetooth option and they should be neat and fit close to your head so you don’t look like a wandering Cyberman. These JBL Live 400BT Headphones pass most of those tests (and add a couple more extra features) but I’ve had some minor issues with Bluetooth usage. They’re solidly made and feel sturdy, the fabric-covered headband has a simple uncluttered look and a real spring to it,so it grips your head quite securely. They’re not uncomfortable to wear but you certainly know you’re wearing them and they don’t slip around in normal usage. All the control buttons are clustered around the bottom edge of the right earpiece while the right earpiece has the USB-micro charge port and the hidden assistant button that can trigger either Alexa or Google Assistant (but not Siri unless I missed something). The earpieces are large enough to cover your ear and offer some sound insulation but they’re small enough to avoid issues with spectacles or sunglasses. The control buttons include the usual volume up/down and play/pause options, which double-up as song skip forward/backward and phone-call controls, plus a slide button that powers the headphones on/off. There are also a pair of less common buttons, one that switches between Bluetooth devices assuming you’ve paired more than one. The other switch toggles the Ambient Aware and TalkThru options which allow you to hear your surroundings without taking off the headphones. In both modes any music playing is turned right down (but not paused) and if there’s actually any difference between the two hear-thru modes I’ve yet to discover it, the manual certainly doesn’t give any clues. The headphones can be paired with two different devices at one time so you can switch them between your smartphone and tablet for example. Interestingly the headphones operate two separate Bluetooth connections with your devices simultaneously, once standard connection for music and phone calls and the other ‘Bluetooth-LE’ (low energy) connection seems to be used just for communicating with your voice assistant. A couple of times I’ve had an issue with the headphones connecting via Bluetooth but not being very loud and with poor-quality audio (crunchy sibilant treble) and I wonder if this dual-Bluetooth function might be the culprit. Perhaps they sometimes transmit music via the LE connection instead of the standard one and that reduces the audio quality? If you don’t use a voice assistant it might be better to tell your device to ‘forget’ the LE connection so you’re always listening via the standard Bluetooth connection. The poor audio might have nothing to do with the Bluetooth LE option, I’m guessing here, but it’s an annoying issue when it happens. Of course connecting with the supplied headphone cable solves that problem but it also disables all the clever wireless and assistant functions. To enable you choice of voice assistant you’ll have to setup the headphones as a recognised device with Alexa or Google but that’s not too hard. Sometimes the assistant won’t automatically reconnect to the headphones and you have to open the Alexa or Google app first to get them reacquainted, it will depend on your device. With Alexa or Google connected (you can only have one at a time) you press the left earpiece, note there’s no obvious button to click and you just tap it. I found it also works if you just run your fingers around the earpiece, it doesn’t actually need any pressure. Once activated you’ll hear Alexa or Google Assistant in your ear and you can instruct or query them just as you would normally, via the microphone built into the headphones. It is quite handy to ask for your shopping list as you walk into the supermarket, or your audiobook as you’re walking the dog etc.The sound quality is good, it’s warm and solid-sounding with a full bass and reasonably clear treble. They’re a bit unexciting and not very dynamic and the treble is a bit crunchy and sibilant sometimes (even with a good connection) but overall they’re quite listenable if not exactly standout. I’ve heard better-sounding headphones at this price point but the voice assistant feature and the solid build and secure fit features make them well worth checking out.

It comes with Ambient Awareness on straight out of the box, which is a feature that allows you to listen to your music while still maintaining a hearing of your surroundings. This could be used when you're running in the city or on the subway so if there's a car coming or somebody is talking, you can easily hear them. However, when this is on, it lowers the sound and you cannot experience a full volume listening. So, make sure that it is turned off if you're seeking more volume out of your headphones. (It can easily be turned on and off with the click of a button on the right earmuff). The Google Assistant works very well and it is consistent. One tap on the left earmuff will tell you the new notifications and it can easily be activated by saying "Okay Google". This is unbelievably convenient when you don't want to take out your phone to access important information. The sound is amazing. It has the classic punchy JBL bass (great lows), especially when used with the JBL headphones application. The vocals and the overall mids are good as well. The app is very useful with the new update and it really allows you to get the best out of your headphones. So easy to customize and create numerous sound presets for different genres with the equalizer. You can easily hear the 808s in Hip-Hop tracks when the "bass" preset is selected in the app.The battery life isn't actually 24 hours, at least for me. I got around 20 to 22 hours, of course, we all use our headphones differently and you can easily achieve the 24-hour battery life with a different use. However, it definitely charges fast. The headband is comfortable with the mesh design and definitely appears cool. However, this mesh design might make it easier for the headband to get hooked to items in bookbags and mess the pattern (happened to my JBL Flip 4). I personally haven't experienced any problems, but writing about it just in case. The padding is decent. It is an on-ear design so it doesn't cover your entire ear and it isn't very soft, isn't that comfortable for long use (5+ hours). The headphones have a long range. I was able to place my phone on the side of the field and do soccer warm-ups. Then, placed my phone in the bedroom on the second floor and still had connection in the living room on the first floor. This is something you probably wouldn't do but you could if you wanted to. There's no information about the sweatproof or water resistance but I have no problems with it so far.To conclude, these sound amazing just like the rest of JBL & Harman products. You can, of course, use the headphones application to adjust the sounds to your taste. If you travel, forget to charge your devices and exercise a lot. Then, these might fit you well. The battery lasts long and it charges very quickly "extra 2 hours in 15 minutes". Voice assistant feature and tap to active are great if you're on the go or don't want to reach to your phone for a small action. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

With these JLB wireless headphones you get a charging cable and a 3.5mm audio cable with remote controls and a microphone. At their price point there’s a lot of competition in the market but these headphones do rather well. The build quality is solid. The headphone have an impressive 24 hour battery life, and usefully you can use the audio cable if you find that batteries are flat to connect by wire. Also around a 10 minute charge will allow the headphones to be used wirelessly for a couple of hours, and two hours of charging will completely recharge the batteries. In addition using the associated Android or iOS app you can chose either Google Assistant or Amazon’s Alex smart functions to use with the headphones. The app also allows you to adjust the headphones’ sound - I found them to have a bit too much bass prior to adjustment. There’s also ambient sound (so you’re a bit more aware of your surroundings) and talk through (which by placing your hand in the headset allows you to hear when someone speaks to you without removing the headphones) which are both welcome.I guess at this price some things are bound not to be included. Most notably, but also most understandably for the price, there’s no noise reduction functionality. The headphones also lack a carry case, and the charging cable is an old-style micro-USB connector rather than a USB-C cable. I also found the headphones a bit tight on my head even after playing around with adjusting the headset.Overall though headphones well worth considering for the price. Four stars.

At first glance these headphones look simple and sleek. The design is smooth but also sharp on the top, the ears fold in making for good fits in tight spots in my backpack. The sound on these headphones is extremely high quality which is usual with most JBL products, specifically when listening to spacey music with lots of separation. The clarity of the Live 400BT makes for very clear separation of instruments or sounds in songs which can be quite nice! As far as the small features that these headphones have it seems as though even coming from a simple design it has bells and whistles that make for a great listening experience. The tilt of the individual ears to follow the flow of a head makes for a more comfortable and ergonomically sound fit on the head meaning that even when shaking your head or looking around they will not fall off. The simple features such as the easy slide on off button or the noise cancelling mode that can be accessed through the app makes for an enjoyable experience all around. Overall a fantastic headphone with amazing sound that are both reliable and backed up by a very strong charge. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

These on-ear (as opposed to over-ear) headphones are good quality. They are intended mainly for Bluetooth but they come with a cable as backup in case you run out of power. The sound quality is good and they play at a higher volume than some other pairs I have. I use headphones for audio books and music when I am travelling and these are ideal as they drown out traffic and I can hear clearly (although technically I don't think they have noise cancellation)The ambient feature is amazing and actually amplifies sound so people sound louder than they do without the headphones! I can actually overhear people talking some distance away that I couldn't unnaided (not something I especially wanted butsome may find it useful!)The app the phone is optional but makes it a bit easier to control the headphones than trying to remember where all the buttons are.On the downside, I found the fit a bit tight, they are large enough but press on my head a bit too hard for comfort. The buttons on the side are also very close together and it is easy to press the button turn Bluetooth off (a button I personally have no need for!)Overall I am impressed and have enjoyed using them so far.

I’m what you would consider a sound snob, love dynamic sound from the 20hz lows to the 20khz highs. These headphones sound amazing and they get loud! I tried a few other bluetooth headphones where they sound decent but don’t get loud enough, not that problem here at all. I have wired Beats headphones and I love them, these are the only other headphones I’ve tried that I can say are either better or same match. I actually think these are a bit clearer in the mids which is really nice. Nice snug fit, I don’t have a large head, but it’s not small/regular. Comfortable for a few hours. The app is nice and lets you control the ambient listening feature and talking to other people feature, basically either lets you hear noises outside of you OR talk to someone without taking off your headphones or stopping the music, pretty cool! Something I didn’t know I needed. Construction is very nice and feels quality. Comes with wire to listen with the headphones wired if the battery dies. That’s about it, great product. Now just to see that they don’t malfunction or whatever.

These are mid-priced headphones with some useful features, good quality sound and a comfortable padded fit.The good features are the built-in Amazon Alexa voice interaction functionality and long-life playing time. Charging for 2 hours will give up to 24 hours of playing time which is above average, and a short charging time of 5-10 minutes or so will give a quick useful power boost to keep them going for an hour or so. There is a cable included for non-bluetooth operation if required. The ears are well padded and I found them to be comfortable on the head with the fabric headband. Bass is good with the 40mm drivers, and although there is no noise cancelling feature the balance between ambient noise and music/voice through the headphones is good. When the TalkThru function is activated it is easy to hear voices and ambient sounds and is a great feature.Weight feels light at 185g, and there are four colours to choose from - black, white red and blue.A great looking headphone with good sound at a sensible price.

These headphones come with Google Assistant, Alexa, and ambient sound. Bluetooth range is good but it doesn’t have aptX. It comes with a cable when Bluetooth isn’t used, but the sound of the cable rubbing on clothing is heard clearly. They have a warm sound without too much bass and are suited to rock and guitars. At times higher frequencies such as cymbals can be a bit tizzy. It’s no surprise given the cost that there isn’t noise cancellation, also the left and right sound – the sound stage - is within the ear cups not beyond. They charge quickly – within 2 hours – and play up to 24 hours. Although the headband is comfortable, the on-ear cups grip tightly to the head. However the ear cups fold up nicely. If your budget is tight, you don’t need noise cancellation, you don’t mind the tight ear cups and you listen to rock, these headphones are worth trying alongside others. For me, they would be OK for a session on the rowing machine at home.

You receive a nicely boxed pair of headphones, I’ve been a fan of JBL for many years, I have a couple of pairs of JBL speakers which have been excellent, first impressions of these are very impressive. These are wireless bluetooth headphones, they do have a cable with them so you canalso use them as wired, I used my iPhone and iPod to try these with, using AmazonMusic.First connection is very easy and straight forward. The sound stage is excellent, great musical headphone, the bass is good without being boomy, great middle with a nice a crisp level of treble, really impressive, theseare as good as any headphones, i’ve tried. They do also work with Amazon Echo and google home, I hooked them up to my Amazon echo, but after a couple of goes with it I sort of forgot, about it and reverted back to using them normally. If you’re looking for a great set of headphones, by a great company then I wouldrecommend you try these, there superb

These cans are very hard to fault. The BT wireless connection is instant and doesn't drop. Five stars on this score. The sound quality is at the same very high level. I have AKG studio headphones K702 and they are no better, if not even worse, than these. Very balanced and natural sound. Deep bass, clear highs and everything in between, as it should be, equally prominent. They fold rather nicely and will fit in a small bag or inner jacket pocket. They are not uncomfortabe to wear but nor are they the most comfortable design around. I would say they are grat VFM on the whole, and if your primary concern is SQ or connectivity, these are hard to beat. The only valid reason for not getting them would be if you wanted luxury feel, which these cans don't really have. They are mostly constructed of plastic, though some structurally important parts are made of metal. Highly recommended.

I have found the JBL Live 400BT very helpful while living in an apartment complex. First of all they feel secure and comfortable on my head. Easy to pair with different types of equipment (computer, tablet, phone). Allows me to listen to my favorites shows while on the electronic device without disturbing the rest of the family or the neighbors. The additional features allow me to hear my family when they are calling me without missing the shows I'm watching. Once connected to the phone the features to use Google Assistant makes it very useful and hands free. Love the fact that it is rechargeable and replacing batteries. The charge last very long time.Once finished using them they easily fold up which makes them easy to store. They have made listening to audio and video much more enjoyable. These headphones are awesome! They make the perfect workout over-ear headphones. The JBL LIVE 400BT sits lightly on my head. I can run, lift weights, stretch, and do just about anything else without them falling off. Of course they include that superb JBL sound. The bass, high and low ends, and depth is excellent. Aesthetically they look great! Red is my favorite color, so it's great that these come in red. The muffs are comfortable and designed for long periods of wear. The battery charges quickly (around 2 hours) and lasts for 24 hours. The Google assistant feature is quite unique. Tapping the left side earmuff activates the Google assistant, and allows notifications to be listed.Overall a great piece of hardware to own. I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone. I have been using these for a month now and they are very comfortable to the plug in ear phones i had as they kept falling out, these fit snug over my ears. I find the features that I can hear whats going on around me and be able to have a conversation with someone without removing them a really great idea. I also have found that the battery charge is also very good and I can use my earphones for 3 days before needing to recharge them this has to be one of the best qualities of this product. I would have liked them to have a carry case as they are flexible I dont like to idea of them hanging from my bag incase they fall off.I also found the instructions printed very small but I think with these earphones you just have to play around with them and find what works for you but they are very nice and glad I got them.

Loved these headphones straight out of the box! Not only did they come charged so I could use them straight away but they were the easiest to setup that I have ever experienced! The sound is crystal clear, and they pack a good bass. As soon as I put them on I was impressed. They fit firmly, but comfortably. (My previous on ear headphones were too loose and even came off during workouts). The fabric on the headband is super soft (and looks great too!) The padding over the ears is just right - soft but durable too. These headphones not only look good but are packed with features that I'd expect only from more expensive models - Amazon Alexa and Google Assist - to be exact.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I got these headphones as a Christmas present from my friend's dad and I've been using them since. They have a very long battery life which was really useful for me because I used them at school all day (you can literally go for a week without charging them, for casual listening). They are very durable and have great sound and the ambient aware is really kinda good. The drawbacks, however, come in the comfort. These are not headphones you'd want to have on for a long time because my ears really hurt after an hour or so of use. The connection also gets kinda bad when you connect more than one device and I got my music cutting at certain moments. An overall splendid product paired with the app andGoogle Assistant
