This speaker is amazing with a non-significant flaw.My 5 year old daughter loves it, as does her 2 year old brother. Both love listening to audiobooks and their favorite music (of mostly electronic variety, think Clean Bandit) while observing the light show. But I'll focus on my daughter's perspective, for the simple reason is that she can communicate her opinions about the speaker.Packaging:The speaker arrives in a blister pack that easily opens using fingers, sort of like a clamshell to-go container. Inside you can find the user manual, colorful stickers (which seem to be waterproof), and a rather long charging cable. Unfortunately, the USB cable doesn't have the remarkably useful feature of what came with my JBL Flip 4: reversible large plug. The Jr Pop USB is standard =(.Design:My daughter loves the design, and loves the teal and blue colors, as well as the light show. The light show changes patterns depending on whether audio is playing or not.But from the adult perspective, the speaker is also very nicely designed, with subtle use of translucent plastic and carefully selected colors that go well together. The plastic is matte, but hard to touch. An adult can easily open and close the visible strap, but it's not that easy for 5 year old.Usage:Sound is surprisingly decent for such a small children's speaker. Not that you would expect the full depth of bass in One Hundred Hunters by Nigel Stanford, but the whole mid range, including voices (which are important for audiobooks) sounds accurate. The highs are naturally tinny, but I didn't hear anything too bright, or any hissing or high-frequency vibrations, even at near max volume. The promised life of 5 hours seems fair, considering the light show (for kids, the dancing lights are not optional). My daughter loves the speaker so much that she even brings it with her to the bedtime bath. The speaker is fully waterproof (IPX 7) and even floats, but here's the only flaw that I found: when the front grill is wet, it absorbs water or something, and makes horrible rattle, which makes the voices almost impossible to make out. You can forget about hearing any music frequencies (bass or treble). You can fully restore the sound if you shake it vigorously for about 10 seconds, but don't expect submerging it in the water and hearing anything passable as music.Pros: quality sound for the size and intended audience, pleasant light show, waterproof, strap for carrying or attaching Jr Pop to something, decent battery life.Cons: if submerged, needs to be shaken to restore sound, the strap's button can be hard for a pre-schooler to open. The first impression I received when I got the product was how slick it was! It is a very cool product for children up to their adolescence. My niece, 10 years old, wanted to have it immediately! It is very robust and even water resistant --I was a bit concern to try this feature as the charging port seems to be completely open. I filled a pot with water and proceeded to submerge the JBL JR POP. which was turned on and playing music; amanzingly, the lights continued to glow and it came back to the surface as soon as I released it... it floats!!! making this a great feature for pool days.As mentioned before, it is very rugged and the controls are in such a way as to avoid to be accidentally turn on/off.The product features very vibrant colors, which changes to give a disco effect (this feature could also be turned off at will). The included documentation came with an easy to follow quick start guide in many languages (although operation is very intuitive if you've had a bluetooth device), making it very suitable for virtually any market around the world. It also comes with a set of cool stickers for personalization, including one with 2 sets of alphabets. The sound quality is very good considering the audience it is aimed at. Definitely a cool gadget and a nice option for a present. It stands out of similar products in the market. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I got the JBL JR POP for my 7 year old daughter who always loves to use my portable jbl speakers for her music. From the moment she saw the package the was super excited and jumping up and down. We opened it up and powered it on. I saw her eyes light up as the speaker did the same. The light show the speaker provides is a great feature that makes it look amazing for its size and price. The speaker easily paired to any device I tried it with including some IOS devices and Windows devices. The buttons are easy to navigate with no extras that kids don't need. The sound quality and volume is what I have come to expect from JBL and did not disappoint. The sound is clear with adequate low frequencies and easily fills the room. This is exceptional especially considering this is a kids speaker! My daughter loves to use it at bath time and thanks to its waterproofing there is nothing to worry about. The speaker feels solid and durable and easily attaches to things with the built-in strap. As an added bonus the speaker came with various stickers so my daughter could personalize the speaker to her liking. Overall it is a great little speaker and considering my daughters reaction to the speaker it is Great for Kids.Pros: Great sound, Durable, Looks great, Easy for kids to use, Great battery life even with lights on.Cons: None that I have found. I liked the idea of the JBL for my kids to use when playing together. As they are young, something durable is a must. Having seen the JBL is waterproof and durable I wanted to try and it hasn't disappointed so far. My kids have used it constantly and it has already survived a water spill. They have it on out in the garden playing which it's ideal for as you can hang it from things with the strap and it's made of a really durable material. It's a brilliant design for kids, simple to use and bright colourful simple shape, the light is great, really bright. Out of the box it's easy to set up, a little help is needed to hook it up for the kids but outwith that they can handle it on their own.The box was also easy to open for them too! The only drawback with this for me is the sound quality is not as good as other speakers I've had, that being said it's decent for the price and is more than adequate for my children who both love having their own device to listen to music on their own without mummy worrying they will break it. Thumbs up from us!

I would recommend it to someone with our without kids. It certainly stands up to the rough nature of a kid and offers a low price option in an ever growing speaker market. Having good durability and above average sound are the key features in a travel speaker. This speaker tackles all of the above with additional flare. I allowed 7 Days for both myself and Daughter to use this product before leaving this review. I will list the Pros and Cons from both our views to humor you!Adult Pros:Good sound below 75% volumeCool Color housingLights to music interestingDurable for both Waterproofing/DroppingGood battery lifeFavorite is the snap strap to hang it on things/better than clipKid Pros:"I can use this for bath time?!?"*Drops it 14 times in one day...Keeps on playing"Look at the pretty lights."Adult Cons:Uses Micro Usb instead of USB CSound over 75% gets very muddyKid Cons:"its not working" (Battery died/Impatiently waited for it to recharge) [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I got this speaker for my son who just turned 11. Unlike many products sealed in hard plastic this one was easy for him to open by himself without the use of scissors! I get so frustrated when products are hard to open!. Within 2 minutes he had turned it on (it already had power in the battery), paired bluetooth and started playing music. He did this without referring to the instructions so it really was very simple. The instructions were also good - simple graphics. We were both impressed by the sound for such a small speaker; I own 3 other JBL (smart) speakers and a Sony bluetooth speaker - this wasn't as good as any of them but good enough for him to play his music. He liked the lights and the loop so he could attach it to his bike. He had fun with the included stickers personalizing the speaker with his name and a smiley face! Overall a good first speaker for a kid - 11 years old is probably the max age. I got this speaker as part of JBL's Backstage Pass program a few days ago and so far I like it. It's small, has good sound, and has some features that are good for kids. The light is kinda cool, and the strap is perfect for hanging the speaker from all sorts of kid's stuff. I haven't measured battery life yet, but I would expect it to be quite good. The only downsides to it that I've noticed so far are the lack of an aux input and the lack of a play/pause button. I play some of my son's audio from my Sansa Clip+ through an aux cable, but that's not possible here. And when I use a bluetooth speaker with my phone, I like to be able to play/pause from the speaker.I don't think either of these matter for a kid's speaker though, so this will do the trick on that end. Overall, quite a nice little speaker for kids, if you can live with a couple small things missing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We've been using this little speaker for a couple of weeks now.It is very easy to pair up with our android phones first off, so that's nice. We've used it for music while the kids are in the tub, we use it for music in the shower in the morning, and have used it for bedtime soothing music. The color changing light show can be turned on for "dance party mode" as our kids call it, or turned off if you just want music. Its nice not having to worry about water getting splashed on it from the tub or shower. The sound isn't huge, but it is pretty impressive for a speaker the size of a hockey puck. We haven't had to charge the battery yet listening to it for a half hour or so about every other day,so I'd say the battery life is also pretty good for it's size. My 10 year old son has been using this for a couple weeks now and he loves it. His main use-case is moving around with his iPad and playing video games and using this speaker as his output audio device. Quite convenient for him to carry around, and the light show that it provides is quite futuristic and actually practical, such as when he's riding his bike in the night he is able to listen to his music as well as be clearly visible for nearby drivers. His sister has the JBL Clip and he likes this one because of the cool lights. He thinks the sound is great and louder than he expected. The strap is super useful allowing the speaker to be attached to a variety of surfaces (such as a bike handle or shower bar).Overall great speaker. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The JBL JR POP is a fun little bluetooth speaker that lights up and can be attached to a belt loop or backpack with a snap button. I found it useful to hang on something outside while the kids played and it worked well too. The button is secure and you don't have to worry about it snapping off of whatever you attach it to. The sound quality is great and the kids enjoyed the fun color and flashing lights. It is made of heavy duty plastic that will withstand drops from active kids. We did not test this out by submerging in water but it sounded fine and there were no adverse affects when it was splashed with water. I received the JBL JR Pop in return for an honest review.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I had this speaker for a few days and my 8 year old is really enjoying it.It's cute design and features make it a great for kids in that age group. It's waterproof design is a big plus, and it's color changing light-up feature is definitely very cool (Which btw can be turned off). Bluetooth connection went effortlessly and I was not expecting a speaker this to get as loud as it does. One small issue I had (which isn't specific to his product) is that when the speaker is underwater the music sounds very distorted, and it will be so even after it's out've the water, until the water drains out and dries up. Other than that there's nothing else I'd complain about.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

So I'll admit I have a double bias here because I'm a very long time JBL fan and we received this to test. However, I'll try and give this as unbiased a review as possible. First off, my daughter, who is 4, would rate this 10/10. She carries it around and even sleeps with it... The rainbow lights soothe her. The sound is more than adequate for kids, if I were rating sound quality for an adult or teen, I would say 6/10. It has been dropped a few times with no effect, and very rugged. States that it's waterproof, but I'm leary to test that since it has an exposed charging port. Overall great product .(especially if I were certain it's waterproof!)[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I had the JBL GO so I knew the sound would be great, and it was!! The JR POP is fun! It's so easy to use just plug & play .... literally! It charges quickly too.Kids will love this for portability, including a small strap with a strong snap closure good for hanging on your shower rod (it's water resistant) or on their bikes handlebar! They'll also like 'spaceage' power on/off/bluetooth sound.I loved the rainbow light feature. It lights while charging, while playing (lights to beats) & can be disabled with easy button shut off!Though it comes with a sticker pack for customizing, it really isn't just for kids!! My toddler is starting to get antsy in her stroller on longer walks with the dogs, but loves music. Unfortunately playing a Sesame Street playlist on a phone was not cutting it, either for my phone's safety or my mom guilt wanting to yell THE SCREEN'S NOT ON at my neighbors. I got this and it's perfect - I can keep the volume low so I can just barely hear it as we walk outside, and the strap fits nicely over the safety bar in front of her so it hangs right in her lap, and I can slide it to the side if she wants a drink or a snack as we go. She enjoys her tunes and I don't have to worry about my phone taking a header onto the sidewalk.

Our 3 year old son loves this speaker. He takes it into the bath with him, dances around the house with it, and keeps it with his "real things" (i.e. grown-up items, like an old Blackberry that he plays with.) He already loves music, so has gotten a lot of milage out of his POP already. JBL built it nice and tough so despite his best efforts, he won't be able to destroy it! As parents we appreciate the fact that the volume level has been kept at hearing safe levels, so when he sticks it up to his ear he isn't doing harm. All around great product that we will use for years to come! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
