Use: I use this speaker mainly at the beach on the weekends. Being at the beach, I've handled it with wet hands, so I definitely needed a waterproof speaker. I've used it on 3 Beach trips and I have to finally charge it. So it's been maybe 8-9 hours? Design: It feels really durable! A little on the heavier side, but that helps make it feel more sturdy. The rubber is very smooth, grips nicely, and feels nice to hold. The headphone jack was taken out going from the flip 4 to flip 5. It doesn't affect me as much because I typically work with the Bluetooth connection but it was an interesting design note. I did wish the USB-c charging port came with a protective flip cover though.That would be a nice small detail to have especially for people using it at the beach or outdoors. Sound: The volume goes up pretty loudly and the bass is really nice and clear. The sound is balanced and travels well against the waves/wind at the beach. Excited to use it in my house and at the pool! Connections: super easy to connect to my Google pixel 2 phone. The Bluetooth was not upgraded to 5.0. I haven't had the need to connect multiple speakers in tandem so I haven't encountered issues with the connect/connect+/party boost connectivity issues, but may be something to consider in the future when upgrading speakers. May just buy multiple of the same ones. Overall, even if it's a mono instead of dual, it's a great little speaker that packs has really rich sounds with a nice bass!! 1st thing: I received this from JBL complimentary BUT I am eager to review it. That said, I would enthusiastically order it at full price! Easy to connect, holds a charge and OMG the sound! It has a great bass based sound...so much better than most speakers NOT named JBL. If you've heard any other JBL speakers (I have the Jembe attached to a PC) you know what I mean. This is a heavy speaker, and I mean by weight. That's the only way to get a full sound, IMHO, there are no shortcuts to a pounding bass. There are buttons to adjust the volume, and to pair via Bluetooth, but no ability to directly connect. Charged it once, and it's still going 3 weeks later. It's water-resistant...or as they say "Water Proof"....not sure I'd drop it in the Ocean, or a pool for an hour, but it appears to be just fine for use in watery areas - like your shower or the pool. The sound will easily overwhelm your shower, and will easily fill a household (or condo) pool area. There's also a means to link more than one speaker (got some friends???) to fill a larger area. It's called Party Boost, and that also seems enhances the bass in my experience. Don't know how it handles that, but there's an app to download. I was able to connect to my phone, stream an app, walk around the condo (1200 sq ft) and it didn't drop out at all. I also used it in my car - better sound than the same station on the radio... JBL Flip 5 has been a great lifesaver for music with superb portability. It's loud even with the smallest setting on the mobile phone. Whether you listen to country music or rock, this thing plays with amazing quality. I have tested the waterproof aspect of the speaker. It dries off quickly and continue to work just fine. It has incredible well balanced sound and excellent bass range. This wireless speaker is rather compact but can easily fill the room with loud, crisp and powerful sound. I'm so impressed with the sound quality/battery life that I gave it a 5 star across the board. With its tough silicone rubber edges, it can easily resist being dropped or kicked. Setup is very easy.Just pair the phone via Bluetooth and then download the JBL app and it will connect automatically. Just bear in mind that it won't connect to flip 4 speakers. The Flip 5 is however, a superior model in all aspects. Sound quality is superb, loud, and crisp and far exceeded my expectations. The bass response is indeed superior to the 4 as well as the battery life. At this price, it’s a no brainer. Everything about this product is just phenomenal and I could not be happier. Negative Points:Only bad thing is that the battery only lasts around 5 hours with full volume. Also unlike previous JBL speakers, the Flip 5 can’t work as a Bluetooth speakerphone as it doesn’t have a microphone for making phone calls or issuing commands to a voice assistant.

I got this device on Aug 21st and I used / tested it for a week so that i can write this review. First of all the device looks great and comes with new feature (Party Boost Mode) which helps you to connect two JBL Flip 5 connect together and double your sound output. Here are the things I notice with new JBL Flip 5:1. Bass levels are increased as compared to earlier versions of Flip series (Boom Bass). It Sounds gr8!!!!2. Treble levels are also increased as compared to earlier versions of Flip series.3. There is no Aux input now. But still its does not matter since most of us now uses BT wireless technology.4. Battery back up seems increased a little bit over earlier versions.5.Its Water resistant/proof and comes with IPX7 environmental protection 6. Sound quality is crisp and clear and best in the category as compared to Sony wireless speaker and Bose Soundlink series. 7. Also now comes with USB C type charging port which is essential and easy to connect and charge.Following things to be considered for future Flip series:1. WiFi connectivity.2. Google crome cast for audio,3. Alxa etc4. Increased audio output.Over the the product is great and awesome for any outdoor activity in most of the weather conditions.I highly recommend this product if your are buying Bluetooth speaker Over Bose and Sony options. I purchased a Flip 2 years ago and absolutely loved it. It just broke a few weeks ago so I figured I'd buy the latest and greatest. The Flip 2 was always impressive. The compact size, build, epic sound quality, and volume of sound from such a small package. When I purchased the Flip 5, it is way bigger and more impressive looking than its predecessor. I was expecting much better performance, unfortunately that was not going to be the case. To begin with, the storage case is just a big hunk of Styrofoam. No neat, smooth looking shell like the Flip 2. After hooking up my phone and selecting different types of music, The Flip 5 just doesn't have the robust sound of its predecessor. What's worse,is there is no option to customize the sound directly, without having to download an app separately. The sound is adequate, and more or less clear, but it does have a lingering cabinet effect, also the volume just doesn't quite stack up. The appearance is probably the strongest quality. Very cool exterior, quality paint and build. I think appearance-wise, it is very nice, but the most important thing is the sound, and it's just not quite there. Very disappointing.

I previously purchased a JBL Charge 4, which is an awesome speaker as well, but wanted something a little smaller. Was going to buy the Flip 4, but waited for the Flip 5 due to it having USB C charging. We use this speaker all the time while cooking in the kitchen or grilling outside and it's perfect for traveling. You may be asking why not use the Charge 4 for these situations, but the Charge 4 is much louder at lower volumes and don't want to be that one disruptive neighbor that cranks their music too loud. The smaller size of the Flip 5 (compared to the Charge 4) also takes up less room in a backpack, which can be extremely helpful when packing for a trip.If hanging out with friends or somewhere that we can crank the volume or aren't concerned about space, it's definitely the Charge 4 over the Flip 5. The Flip 5 has great sound, looks good and has great battery life...plus has USB C charging. We have no complaints and would recommend to everyone. We were looking at other brands (spent a lot of time playing the demos set-up at various stores), but think JBL had the best mix of sound and features especially for the price.

Impressed - first Bluetooth speaker from this brand. The speaker is slighter lighter compared to a previous brand I use also with same battery life if not more... . It looks okay not absolutely sure if much difference to previous model in looks, and don’t really understand the use of the app I downloaded for speaker as no settings can be changed.I am currently using this daily in Egypt on my holiday by the pool and also in the room whilst getting ready, I must say the mid range and base is very good and I am impressed, as I do love my music, I do like the fact it’s waterproof as I have been taking into the shower not worrying about steam or bit of a splash etc as I previously did with different Bluetooth speakers.I have recommended to others already and would say the it’s suited to anyone who loves music loud and wirelessly! Would like to link a couple together also , first time with JBL Bluetooth speaker and won’t be the last, good job.

I had this product to test and what a great sound quality from something so small, it’s loud and crisp with a great bass range and I was really surprised because if I’m honest when I first got it out of the box I thought this isn’t going to be up to much! How wrong can you be, it is easy to connect via Bluetooth to your phone/tablet, it has great portability and with it being waterproof I was able to sit it safely on the side of the hot tub and relax to my favourite tunes which was brilliant as the Bluetooth speaker on my tub no longer works. The battery indicator lets you see when it will soon need recharging, it seems to last a long time between charges, I only charged it once in the 4 weeks I have been using it.It comes very well packaged and I would highly recommend this product to anyone that said I do feel that it is a little expensive, things move so fast these days that no doubt a newer more advanced model won’t be long coming.

I knew I'd love the Flip 5 speaker because my husband has a Flip 4 and it's great. I wanted a speaker to take to work and I needed a way to mark it as mine (and I didn't really want to just put my name on it). So I found a picture that I took many, many years ago and have always loved, and I used that to customize my Flip 5. I am so happy with the way it looks. I really can't think of anything I would do differently. I've already ordered a different customized speaker for my daughter as a graduation gift, and I may give my first one to my son for his birthday and order yet another one. I really like the idea of being able to link them all together, too. It was also important to me that it was USB-C,because I am so done with micro USB connections being the point of failure for pretty much every item with it I've ever owned.

The JBL Flip 5 keeps the jamz going! The bass coming from speakers is phenomenal! You can see the beat of the music from looking at the Flip 5. This beautiful little speaker is loud enough for an outside party or inside get together. The best part of this speaker is that it is waterproof. We have used this in the pool and in the shower, as funny as that may be. If any of your friends have another one of these little wonders, you can connect them to create surround sound! Amazing. The only negative about these new Flip 5’s is that the charger is different than the others in JBL flip series, so they are no longer interchangeable. It also takes longer to charge than the others. This speaker has excellent battery life and sounds great. The connect feature would be useful but I only have one flip 5. I don't like the fact that the only available way to sit it is on end. The case works well to set it in but it is a little bulky. Bluetooth connectivity works very well. I had my wife use it to compare to her flip 2. She wasn't crazy about the moving ends. Her speaker has fixed ends which she liked better. She was very interested in the longer battery life. Overall this is a great speaker. I compared it to my charge 2 and the bass is not as good. Battery life is much better. This is a nice addition to JBLs Bluetooth speaker lineup but there are not many bells and whistles compared to the existing speakers.[This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I've been testing this model for a week now as as the sun goes down its a great little speaker and very handy to have around. I wasn't sure what to expect as there are so many differing qualities of speaker out there but this was superb. The clarity of the sound was excellent and the bass really came through, we loved the speakers at the side vibrating - just a little quirky extra. Connectivity was really easy, just a few simple taps and the bluetooth function was connected. The design is modern and functional, waterproof been a bonus with our English weather! The only drawback was that the speaker is not 360 degrees so if you are sitting behind it where the controls are you don't get the surround of music I would like.A great little speaker, ideal for the backgarden and holiday usage.

Received this speaker late and wanted some time to really assess its features...i should have known what to expect as I have several other portable Bluetooth speakers from JBL.The Flip5 is a solid a performer for its size..surprisingly solid bass and good volume as expected. Battery life is also very good lasting several hours ( I had to recharge after 10 hours of pretty loud playing) and charges quickly.Comes in a variety of colors and fits easily in a bookbag. My favorite use is taking it to the beach or having it next to me by the pool..I haven't had the nerve to dunk it but it's x supposedly waterproof up to 3ft. I can say that splashes had no effect and would have probably ruined a regular speaker...overall,very pleased! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
