I have now used this product for a few days and it is really good. Solid construction, grips the card firmly, I've not had an "unrecognised media" error on XPSP3 using a USB2.0 port. Transfers are fast and accurate. I insert the card into the reader, then insert the loaded reader onto the USB connection. Within seconds, XP has recognised the device and "My Computer" shows the card's name, file system, etc as soon as you like. Clicking open is rapid and dragging/dropping as quick as a regular USB storage dongle. I use the option for quick removal, which means that I can simply "Eject" the device without needing to wait for WIndows to finalise the files (i.e. I disable "write caching". Theoretically, this should mean slower writes to the card as they are not buffered to the hard drive, but unless you are writing huge files (my cards are 8GB, Class 4), you won't notice). I keep this device with my "point and shoot" camera and it is soooo much faster than plugging the camer into USB for picture files transfer. Using Windows, it is also much, much quicker to use this device to erase old files too! Cards appear as USB-Drive(s), just like a solid-state chip (in fact that's what these cards are!) and that means nearly all of the options are available. You can "quick" format the card (8GB Class 4) in under 10 seconds (computer dependant), add folders/files, etc. If adding files, make sure that you name them like the camera does (e.g. DSC100-0023 or similar otherwise the camera may not "see" them). Another advantage is that most camera-USB cables do not charge the camera while in USB-data mode: camera batteries take a heavy beating doing all the file working as the +5V rail is not available. Put a second card into the camera (so cheap nowadays - see Amazon sellers, you can get 8GB (about 1300-odd pix or 30 min video depending on settings) for a fiver or less!) and your camera is instantly ready while you process your pictures!¬

When it comes to digital photography, there are certain must-have gadgets available which will inevitably speed up the process of transferring files from camera to computer. I personally find that a 'card reader' is an essential device, allowing me to move photos to my PC without the need for a USB cable... just pop out your camera's memory card, slide it into the reader, and then push the reader into the computer - simple! Accessing your photos in this way is not only quicker, but it also saves the camera's battery, as the camera would normally have to be switched on when connected to your computer.Although I already own an efficient card reader (the Lexar Multi-slot),unfortunately it doesn't accept the newer format High Capacity SD cards (SDHC), and as a result it is a little dated. SDHC is no problem for the Integral USB 2.0 single slot SD however, as it transfers data from whatever type of SD card you put into it with ultimate ease. Constructed from strong white plastic, the device looks clean and modern with its minimalist design. Measuring six by two centimeters, the reader connects to your PC or Mac via USB, and the connection end is covered by a transparent plastic cap.On the top of the reader is a light which illumines with a red glow when connected to your computer, whilst the side of the reader is used for inserting the SD card. In my experience, cards slide neatly into the device without any excess stress put upon them, and can be removed with similar ease. Finally, the bottom of the device features a small hole which allows you to connect to a lanyard or chain.Overall, the Integral USB 2.0 Single Slot SD is an excellent card reader which comes at an incredibly cheap price. The product does everything which is supposed to do in an effective manner, and it looks pretty good at the same time - five stars.

I bought a Sandisk SDHC card not suspecting there might be compatibility issues with my computer, which reads ordinary SD cards without problems. However, it transpired it was unable to read HC cards. Rather than throw the card away, I checked on Google to see if there was a solution - which was to obtain a card reader. The price quoted for the Integral SDHC card reader on the Amazon web site was so low that I thought there had to be a catch, but if there is, I haven't found it yet. I had no difficulty in installing the reader, and after a couple of weeks' use have not experienced any of the problems reported elsewhere in these reviews. For me it has been an excellent purchase; I am now in the process of transferring to SDHC card many of the bulky files which were cluttering up my computer, but which I didn't want to delete. I have found file transfer to be quick and easy, more reliable than burning a CD or DVD, and the SD cards are easy to store. All this has been possible thanks to a piece of kit which costs pence, so it gets top marks from me.

One of my hobbies is digital photography and recently I purchased a 4 gig SD memory card for my camera. My PC has an integral memory card reader including an SD slot but to my dimay I found it would not read my new SDHC (high capacity) card so I had to find a speady solution. I discovered the Integral SDHC reader advertised on Amazon, it was very reasonably priced and had free delivery. The reader arriver within 3 days, it is very compact and plugs directly into an USB port, my SDHC memory card plugs into a small slot in the side of the reader. All photos store on the card can now be viewed by going to 'My Computer and selecting Removable Disk', they can easily be copied to another location on the computer if desired. The only disadvantage I can see with this method of retrieving the photos is the computer does not automatically recognise the data as photos and initiate a wizard to allow you to rename the photos as they are being copied over, so this task has to be done using another software renaming package.

Seems to be well built and a very good price with free delivery. I only hope that it lasts longer than a previous card reader of unknown brand, which only lasted a dozen or so uses. Would have preferred the design which incorporates a covered card slot with the card in place, but they all seem to be less well built. So far I've only tried SDHC cards in this reader on my PC running Windows 7, will need to see if the claim to support high speed cards runs true. Feel that my last reader failure could have been due to high speed card, so went for the one that mentioned it supported both Windows 7 and high speed cards.THERE FOLLOWS AN EDITED REVIEW PLACED A MONTH AFTER RECEIVING THE ITEM:I CAN NOW SAY THAT THE READER IS OF REALLY GOOD QUALITY; IT IS WELL BUILT AND LOOKS QUALITY.I HAVE NOW HAD THE OPPORTUNITY OF DOWNLOADING FROM TWO DIFFERENT HIGH SPEED SDHC CARDS NUMEROUS TIMES AND THE READER CONTINUES TO WORK PERFECTLY. I FEEL HAPPY THAT I MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE. ON THIS OCCASION "GENUINE" MEANS GENUINE!!

Receiving this product ridiculously quickly in such a polite fashion is yet another factor which backs up my reasoning to have to ability to class this product as absolutely amazing! It is a shame that It only fits one type of memory card, however that is what it is what it says on the tin, so I can not possibly expect more! The price of this product does not seem to justify how amazing it appears to be. I would suggest this exact product to everyone, and I am so surprised that i only discovered such technology after seeing a colleague use it after years of using a lead. The product is convinient and pocket sized, so it is able to be taken anywhere with you, far more easier than carrying round a tangled lead!I am certainly going to continue to browse this seller for future reference as I already know for certain that the seller is 100% trustable. Thank you for such a cheap, convinient and amazing product which arrived so quickly, even though It was free delivery!

HiI read a few negative reviews but most were written some time ago, so i ordered anyway. Arrived very quickly and package appropriately for something this small.I'm using Sandisk ultra and extreme 8GB SDHC cards for this review. First off, whether i connect the card reader with SD inserted or insert reader then the card i get the same results, the Auto Play window pops up asking what i want to do. Even when i remove the card from an attached reader and then reinsert a card (any card LOL) the same Auto Play window pops up.Minutes into using the card i would highly recommend it for price and build quality.24/07/12I've been using this card reader for 2 month and I've not experience any problems.I've used the reader on my PC, through a Wise dummy terminal at work and on a USB socket on a Samsung TV with absolutely no problems. My initial 5 star rating stands, this is an excellent product at a fantastic price.

I purchased this SD reader after reading reviews of various makes and decided to try this one, as it was such a good price. Product arrived very promptly and was well packaged. It's light and very portable, which was one of my priorities as I do a lot of travelling. Opened it up, popped in a memory card and plugged it in to the laptop and it worked perfectly first time. I decided to try it again with a different memory card to ensure it really was working OK and it did, so I'm delighted. I like the fact that it illuminates when it's been recognised by the PC and remains so until disconnected. One thing I've learnt over time is that I always remove any USB by clicking on the 'safely remove hardware'button, never just pull it out, as I think it preserves the life of the device. So, to sum up, it's a brilliant little device, at an amazing price with well packaged and prompt delivery. Couldn't ask for more!

This item was purchased as part of an Amazon "package deal" along with an SD Card... Not only was this better value for money than could be found anywhere else (the card size in the package was double other offers at the same price and without the USB SD Card Reader!), it has proven to be a very useful gadget to have! Less fiddly than finding and using card readers on a laptop, it has proven to be a very handy addition to the Canon Mini Camcorder kit and accessories for which it was purchased...I have to say that at the current time (Sept/Oct 2011) Amazon's prices and deals on things like carry cases, memory cards etc are extremely competitive and much better value for money than I have found elsewhere online...I am not saying that my search was exhaustive, but the prices were definitely some of the best by a long shot!

As my Nikon 3100 kit didn't come with a cord for downloads to a PC I purchased this USB. It was listed as a product that other Nikon 3100 kit purchasers had brought so after reading the reviews I took the plunge also. I'm very pleased I did. As with all USB's, it's lightweight and easy to store in a small handbag or accessories bag. It's also pretty solid so will take a few knocks when in transit. The benefit over a cord? - your camera can stay snug in a bag whilst you download your latest pics and if, like me, you'd rather not put your memory card directly into a card reader slot on another PC or photo printing unit, then this is a great alternative. My PC installed it within a minute so it's an easy 'plug in and use'product.I've not had it long but haven't had any problems thus far.

This is the second "Integral USB 2.0 Single Slot SD Reader" I have owned, and although "almost" identical to the first one I purchased on Amazon in February 2010, it differed slightly in that it didn't carry the EU kite mark carried by the first one, which did make me think about it's origin and longevity. However, I've been using this adapter now since October 2012 on a very regular basis with a Windows XP Desktop computer. It has performed flawlessly, and I can confirm that it is compatible with High Capacity SD cards (SDHC). I mention that because I read reviews before purchase which threw doubt on that fact.My first one cost a couple of pounds and lasted 2 years 8 months of constant use,and if this one lasts anywhere near as long I'll be well pleased at the price I paid.

Cheap as chips it may be - mine cost just £2.19 inc postage, but it has to be amongst the best gadgets I have ever bought. What makes it so good is SIMPLICITY. Just like plugging in a USB Memory Stick, pop your SD or SDHC card into the slot, plug the reader into a vacant USB socket on your home or laptop PC and within seconds it will have loaded the driver - without any help from you, and your photos will now be there to view or copy. This item ticks all the boxes: Good Quality, Feels Durable, Inexpensive, Easy to Use. What more could you ask for? Could it be improved? Only by making the end of the reader able to attach the protective end cap so as not to lose it when in use - but that is hardly a criticsm, and is common to many USB sticks. BUY ONE TODAY and you won't regret it.

I've had this item for a while...and it's fabulous. Never had any problems with it.I've always worried if buying such cheap products increases the likelihood of damage to the card being read but no - having had this for a significant time I've had no problems whatsoever. Great stuff.Looking at the other reviews for this product I see that a minority have said it does not work - but nearly all of them say the item was not branded/did not look like the one in the picture. Looks like the seller may have substituted the item due to high demand for a great product with something inferior...shame on you seller.Mine looks the same as the one in the pic. I would say for the sake of a couple of quid order it and hope you get what's advertised. The item that's advertised does work.

When I bought this SD card reader it was [...] each including shipping which wasn't free. Even then, I thought that it was a very good deal and bought two. It's good to see that the price has come down - bargain! I've had absolutely no problem using this card reader and have in total bought 3 - 1 for family, 1 for myself and 1 as a backup in case the others get lost. It is very quiet and the design is pleasant and simple. When the card reader is plugged in with the card it will flash red. It have never had any problems ejecting the card, and it hasn't lost any data so far. I purchased this in 2009 and have used it frequently till now. (NB.It have only used it for photos and occasional video clips taken with my camera and have not tried transferring other data format.)

Having taken up digital photography I needed to transfer the results to the computer. The camera came with a software disc and lead and some complex programme with all sorts of options, but then I found this card reader for 99 pence. It's a doddle - remove card from camera, insert into reader, insert reader into USB slot on computer and off you go. I have never used the camera software or the cable and I have transferred literally thousands of pictures and a few bits of video perfectly successfully using this little device. If you are not into complicated photo editing and enhancing direct from the camera, if you don't want to fill up the computer with unnecessary programmes, this gadget will do the job cheaply and unbelievable easily. I wouldn't be without it.
