All others small, inexpensive readers are second rate. I'll buy another of these without hesitation because of quality and speed.People have complained about how hard it is to put the SC card into this reader. The card takes some up/down, side to side maneuvering; but once in, the card seats solidly in the device and does not fall out. Because it was a little tight the first time, I slid the card in and out about 7-8 times, and while it continued to be challenging to get in or out, I learned what it takes to get the card in and out. A slight inconvenience, but not a stopper. It downloaded 2.5 Gb in about 20 seconds over a USB2 port on a desktop PC running Windows 10. (I don't have a USB3 port.)I was able to play the video from card with a simple double click. Then, I copied the file into my PC's Videos file, and was able to play it from there with a double click. Later, I clicked on several files on the card and dragged them to a file on my computer. In short, it works great. I didn't notice any lag and don't expect to. Great little piece of equipment. Thanks!

5-26-2020 at 4:22 PM - PDTThe SanDisk UHS-I Card Reader connects easily to any USB Port. I'm rating "Easy to Use" as 4-Star because the Reader is a bit 'tight' to work with in getting the SD Cards slid in and out of the device. That said; however, I rate the Card Reader 5-Star overall. It TRULY is Plug-n-Play, the SD Card, (straight from my Camera), was pulled up in MacOS right away once I got the SD Card seated into the Reader. My computer system is on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6 - (17G12034). If the Card Reader works this easy in MacOS, it MUST also work just as well in Windows, just a guess though.I HIGHLY recommend this Card Reader.

This is a relief, after my old USB 2.0 reader. It is really quick! The only tricky thing is that you really have to force the card into the reader, I mean, really push it in. It was a SanDisk card used with SanDisk reader. I spent 10 minutes wondering if I was going to do any harm to the card which is more valuable than the reader, by the price, but also by meaning, especially when filled with important material, since I am a professional. I had to use some force and it worked out fine, no damages. Anyway, the opening at the reader should be adapted to more loose insert process.

The plus side of this SD card reader is that it is compatible with the new 170MB/s cards. These Sandisk cards can only sustain this read speed using proprietary readers like this one. In a normal SD card reader the speeds will be like the older 95MB/s cards. So that's one big advantage.However. The reason I don't really like this reader and deducted a star is that I find it hard to get cards in/out. This one isn't as bad as the UHS-2 version though. It's still a little stiff but the other was so bad, I was worried I'd break the card.

I did not experience trouble inserting SD card into this reader that others reported. It takes a little effort but nothing that would make me think card is going to get bent/damaged. Reason why I needed this is for the write protect switch on all SD cards. It allows me to use in any computer without worrying viruses will jump onto the card. My micro SD card is from PNY and it works fine. It was inserted in a Surface Pro before the reader. The read/write speed is actually faster using the reader, that's a pleasant surprise.

Product was delivered new in sealed manufacturer's packaging. Upon opening I tested it out by transferring over 1200 pictures from my camera SD card. It worked extremely well and fast. The images were both large raw and jpg files and the transfer of all, including short video recordings, took less than 3 minutes. If you're looking to transfer pictures from a dslr or mirrorless camera to a laptop I think you will be pleased with this product. Easy to use. For reference I use a Sony a6000 camera and a hp Envy laptop.

If you have large SD Sandisk Extreme cards for your DSLR cameras....just get this card reader. I was blown away how fast it can copy LARGE files to my PC for editing. I was using the SD card reader in my laptop to xfer files from my 128GB xtreme card...and this one is night and day difference with USB3! I am totally pleased with it. for now 5 stars! Ill follow up in a few months to see how its holding up. Small, compact, perfect travel with in my camera bag.

Works fine as a card reader. I intended to use as a card reader in a Tesla Model S. It works, but the width makes it impossible to fold down the wireless charger (something I do when I leave the car to disguise the fact that I have USB drives plugged in...both for music and Tesla's Sentry M ode). I could remove the reader and fold down the charger, but Sentry Mode doesn't work without the drive plugged in....so, I'm looking for a different solution.

Bought it as I wanted to have a small reader permanently connected to my monitor's base USB port.I have Sandisk Extreme pro cards. It's a tight fit.Pretty easy to insert the card, but not easy to pull out the card with one hand. (Doable, but not easy)If the card was protruding out 2-3 mm more, it wold have been easier to pull it out.May be the tight grip of the card is needed to achieve the fast read speed.Love it. Great buy.

Like many others who have posted reviews, I also had difficulty in inserting an SD card. However, I found that if you hold the reader flat in your left hand. introduce the SD card and apply minimum downwards pressure on the end of the card it goes in perfectly. It is a snug fit in the card reader but that is what you want to ensure a good connection. Far better quality and speed when plugged into a usb3 port than cheap readers.

This is a tiny item that does what it says. You may want to get a USB extender cable if your USB port is in an inconvenient location just for ease of access. It is a tiny bit difficult getting the SD card into the opening, but just apply a little bit of effort and it is not an issue. It transfers files fast enough for me, that's what matters. Recommended if you have the matching SD cards that take advantage of its speed.

Like the other reviews have stated, this has a very tight fit. By tight, I mean I thought I was going to snap my memory card in half if I pushed it in any further.Taking that aside, once you manage to get it in, it fits in nice and smooth afterwards for the first couple of inserts. I think you just have to break it in a little bit by using it. The file transfer speed is god speed and you'll love this.

I've blown away with how fast my files i.e. video/photos downloads to my computer. I had an other different cheaper version/device that would literally take 20-30 mins to download but this device by SanDisk is like 2 mins !! Yes within a couple of mins and BAM ! done. I highly recommend this product. Wished I'd known about this before. Little expensive but most definitely worth the price. 5 STARS !

Great small card reader that supports 170 Mb/s read speed for compatible SanDisk SD cards. It feels a little stiff at first, but becomes better over time. You will still need both hands to take out SD card from it, but that's not a big deal for me. It works, it's small and compact and very fast.P.S. Speed tested with SanDisk ExtremePro 128 Gb 170Mb/s card.

Lightning fast in a USB 3 Port!I was backing up my Nintendo Switch, my Nintendo 3DS, and my Android Phone, all using micro sdhc cards. Using my laptops built in card reader, I was getting pitiful speeds. With this USB adapter, transfers are lightning fast!I will say that inserting an SD Card into the reader can be a tight fit, so be careful.
