Very happy with this coffee. I feel I’m new to the ground coffee scene, I’ve recently purchased a delonghi dedica and I first of all started with the illy Classico mild and balanced and it was exactly that- not much flavour at all, whether it’s a single (8g) shot in a small cup, or a double (15-17g) shot in a medium cup, I just wasn’t satisfied with the flavour. I then tried the intenso bold roast and the smell was beautiful, single shot gave me a much better flavour coffee, exactly what I’m after in fact. I’m drinking it as a cappuccino so with frothy milk, the Classico just didn’t show through much flavour whereas the intenso is just the right amount I am looking for.

This medium roast is the favorite by far of the team in our office suite: it will wake you up in the morning or mid-afternoon, but is not as strong as the more traditional dark-roast espresso. It is never bitter, even when taken "black" w/o sugar or cream. I personally lean towards one of the Illy "single source" varieties, especially Guatemala (more chocolaty) or the harder-to-find Ethiopia, but I do take this from time to time, especially if it is my second espresso in the day. I will certainly buy it again.P.S.: keep in mind that this is in single-serve capsules that will only work in machines designed for the Illy Iperespresso system, such as the Gaggia for Illy machine.

I have tried so many types of coffee and now I am totally converted to only drinking illy. I drink it everyday as an expresso and also cappuccino. It has a lovely strong but not bitter taste and it is heads above all the other supermarket and other well known brands in texture, taste, richness. I can't deny that it is also more expensive than the other well known brands but for me I think the extra expense is reflected in the quality. On a side note, many other ground coffees can give me a short period of increased irregular heartbeat ( I have a history of this so am informed as to the problem).

Illy really got it right. I have tried the E.S.E pods from Illy and others. The taste of the IperEspresso Capsules is superior. The Creama is outstanding. I also have a Jura Z5 super automatic and it can't match the taste of IperEspresso even using Illy whole beans. The Illy IperEspresso machines are very simple to use and to clean. The downside is the capsules are expensive, about 75 cents a shot compared to 50 cent a shot from the super-automatic. But, using the Amazon's new subscription service the cost has dropped to about 63 cent a shot. If you like the taste of Illy coffee this is one of the best ways to enjoy it.

Pleasantly surprised by the quality of these. As other reviewers have said, these are similar in quality to freshly ground Illy beans. I should say that they are still not as good as freshly roasted beans from an artisan roaster which are then ground to order, but that essentially is a different product entirely. For a consistent espresso or espresso-based drink with minimal or no cleanup, these offer a great depth of flavour and a very pleasant drink.Please note that these will only work with Illy Iperspresso machines, so are not compatible with Nespresso, Tassimo or ESE.

I bought this for my wife as she has gone caffeine free and I wanted her to enjoy nice coffee still. I am a fan of Illy and have a number of the Iperespresso ranges to choose from. Ironically my wife didn't enjoy the coffee finding it too bitter for her taste which prompted me to sample it as I like a stronger brew than her. It tastes great and is a parody of the usual black label variant. For those who enjoy coffee and want to sleep at night this is a great cup and I will be buying it again. Delivery was prompt.

I have been an Illy drinker for 8 years or so. Previously I was making their drip and espresso in regular makers. After purchasing one of the Illy capsule machines last year, I have been hooked. There is no better way to make espresso in my opinion. Each pod produces the same flavor and crema (cream)on top of the shot. The dark roast is a nice dark, even roast and I have never had any burnt taste from any of their pods. Recommended for sure now that the Amazon price on the dark roast is starting to come down.

Was very skeptical about these living up to the real deal (I'm an illy lover, so very defensive and snotty about how my coffee is made!) but I'm so glad I gave them a go. The tatse is spot on. So similar to a freshly ground cup of illy espresso that any difference is pretty much undetectable unless you're some kind of walking mass-spectrometer.If you dont have time to grind your own coffee or faff around with pre-ground stuff then this is a perfectly good alternative.If you love illy, you'll love these.

Tinned, rather than in a packet, which makes storage easier, nice flavour, but not the best I've tasted for the price. Overall I would (sorry, will), be reordering. My only slight niggle is that as it comes in a tin (which is a good thing), someone has to be home at delivery time as it is not possible to put through letterbox, as with Pact.com's coffee. It's ground perfectly for my drip filter machine, but may not be entirely suitable for a caffetierre.

This coffee is from far the best capsule coffee I ever had . I was a fan of Nespresso Expresso blackBut this medium roast is just so impressive as if you are drinking a coffee from an Italian coffee house .From the moment you open the can you will smell the roasted coffee unlike most other coffee capsules .The only downside is the price , MY ORDER ARRIVED TODAY WITH TWO MISSING COVERS OUT OF 4 BOXES fortunately they are all aluminium sealed !

By far and away my favourite of machine coffees, with a medium-strong flavour with a fantastic crema, much better than expected. This is an all purpose coffee that makes fantastic frothy-coffee as well as straight espresso - my usual.Very reasonably price especially when using Amazon Pantry for monthly subscriptions of the stuff, and keeps me awake when i need it. Hard stuff to find too in the shops, even where I bought the machine ironically.

This is my favourite of the standard Illy espressos. It is medium flavoured and produces lots of long lasting crema. This is an all purpose coffee that makes fantastic frothy-coffee as well as straight espresso. I usually drink it black, but have taken to caramel lattes made with this and shots of caramel coffee syrup. Sheer decadence. This is a good price too, I don't mind paying a reasonable price for excellent coffee.

I love this coffee. Has a darker, stronger taste than the normal illy espresso, this means I can use half the amount per cup. I actually mix it with Tesco standard coffee beans (98p/100g) which makes it cheaper for everyday use, or I use it on its own for a speacial treat!I do find this 'ground coffee' a bit too fine for my Delonghi Premium Pump Espresso machine (EC680) so I normally buy the beans and grind it myself.

The next best thing to going downstairs to one of the SIX coffee shops within a block and a half of my place. I like this dark roast much better than the lunge medium roast. My first order fulfilled by Amazon was great; everything was as it should be. I just received my second order and the metal lid was missing from the can, and the expiration date was much sooner than the can I bought two months ago. What gives?

I was a Nespresso user, but given a Illi machine as a present and has been running both concurrently. But I've left Nespresso behind and embraced Illi.The choice of coffee is smaller, but the quality is so much better. With Amazon delivery it's as easy to get Illi pods as it is Nespresso when you're not near a Nespresso store. You don't get the marketing and the "club" but you do get much nicer coffee.
