This medium roast is the favorite by far of the team in our office suite: it will wake you up in the morning or mid-afternoon, but is not as strong as the more traditional dark-roast espresso. It is never bitter, even when taken "black" w/o sugar or cream. I personally lean towards one of the Illy "single source" varieties, especially Guatemala (more chocolaty) or the harder-to-find Ethiopia, but I do take this from time to time, especially if it is my second espresso in the day. I will certainly buy it again.P.S.: keep in mind that this is in single-serve capsules that will only work in machines designed for the Illy Iperespresso system, such as the Gaggia for Illy machine.

in my official quality of sicilian coffee addict (... well, almost all sicilians are), i can say for sure that illy is the best coffee available today in italy except perhaps for some niche, artisanally producted blends. forget about lavazza and similar, illy is another planet. a flawless arabica blend not too roasted, absolutely not too dark and bitter. recommended; costly but really we're talking quality. and the capsules (but notice: they're compatible only with illy francis & francis machines) are virtually indistinguishable from a good bar espresso. if you want a slightly darker, less foamy drink you'll have, of course, to use the ground blend with a bialetti (and *only* a bialetti)

This is a smooth, rich espresso with enough bitterness to add to the overall taste, but not so much that it produces a sour aftertaste. It's best drunk black. While you can certainly add cream, it's not strong enough of a brew to stand up to anything other than a very small dollop of cream. It's a typical medium roast, such as Lavazza, that I really enjoy. It delivers great taste without the burnt undertones that are typical in a dark roast.The caps come in a metal tin that is sealed to keep them fresh. The packaging does, however, add to the overall cost. Great taste, but a bit pricey even considering these are capsules rather than loose beans/ground.

I bought this for my wife as she has gone caffeine free and I wanted her to enjoy nice coffee still. I am a fan of Illy and have a number of the Iperespresso ranges to choose from. Ironically my wife didn't enjoy the coffee finding it too bitter for her taste which prompted me to sample it as I like a stronger brew than her. It tastes great and is a parody of the usual black label variant. For those who enjoy coffee and want to sleep at night this is a great cup and I will be buying it again. Delivery was prompt.

I am def a coffee snob , most high street coffee for me is undrinkable , particularly Starbucks. Illy being 100% arabica is fine coffee and not made up of robusta like most filler coffees. This is best capsule coffee available , period . If you want to taste metal in your coffee, go Nespresso. If you want good quality capsule , go Illy. App available for store location which I use worldwide.This is the cheapest source of illy I can find easily, eBay £11.50 ish.

This is my favourite of the standard Illy espressos. It is medium flavoured and produces lots of long lasting crema. This is an all purpose coffee that makes fantastic frothy-coffee as well as straight espresso. I usually drink it black, but have taken to caramel lattes made with this and shots of caramel coffee syrup. Sheer decadence. This is a good price too, I don't mind paying a reasonable price for excellent coffee.

Delivered smooth rich espresso with a truly awesome crema that was thick AND persistent. Better yet, it does this consistently time after time without fuss. Mine was used with the new gaggia illy machine. The convenience of not having to clean anything after each brew (the espresso is dispensed directly from the capsule, so no machine parts are touched) is a delightful added conveience.

I love Illy coffee, and I love my machine - I do worry about the waste these pods make so tend to limit the use of the coffee maker & use a cafetière most days; however, for ease & simplicity, particularly when making beverages for guests, I think it's fab.I've used 3 different types of coffee pod type machines & this is def my favourite.The coffee always ends up tasting lovely.

I have been using iper for almost 2 years now. I have had illy's home delivery every 4 weeks. but illy has not so good customer service. the last order I got was a wrong shipment (they shipped me decafe coffee), but I had to pay for the return shipping. So I canceled the home delivery, and I bought from amazon. it's cheaper, and the same deliciousness.

Love these expresso coffee pods as they are very easy to use. Nothing is better than getting a great tasting cup ofcoffee with a touch of a button. One thing I like to mention is that we have noticed pods from some cans brew a stronger cup of coffee than others. We are not sure why.My mornings will not be the same without this coffee.

If you buy the Espresso machine and put these capsules in it; you will have a coffee the equal of anything in your local coffee shop.73 cents per cup so long as you buy from Subscribe and Save at the 15% volume discount.Hard to beat - but remember you have to buy the Illy Coffee machine for about $250, You have to do the math

Perfect pods for my Illy Francis Francis machine. I had signed up for the Illy a Casa program, but was between shipments and needed an espresso boost to get me through until the next box! The can arrived sealed and pods were fresh, with that beautiful espresso aroma arising from the lid when unsealed. Amazon to the rescue.

I tried the iperEspresso system; I liked it better than my Nespresso but ultimately neither are a match for freshly ground beans. I decided to return my iperespresso, shelve my nespresso and buy a regular espresso machine. I am loving it. Out of the iperEspresso capsules I enjoyed these dark roasted capsules the best.

Compared the amount I spend each year on Starbucks for a latte, these little capsules are a cup of joy each morning. Much better than the keurig K-cups as we had one of those for a year before the unit died on us. The coffee is flavorful and there is always just the right amount of creme for my liking.

Love my Illy iperEspresso maker. It makes the most delicious espresso of all the pod style machines I've tried, and even has a lovely crema on top. This is my favorite of the flavors I've tried, though I haven't had any that weren't good. Very rich, full flavor like I get at the coffee shop.
