This is a warning: A love for good espresso is an expensive habit!!!I've been making my own espresso at home for 20 years. Every morning I would grind the beans, measure and tamp them into the filter, add water, steam my milk, and then wash the entire machine and repeat. I have to wake up early because this is a time consuming process. Everyone complaining about the price should really take a walk to a coffee store or caffe. Coffee has risen in price the past couple years. Add to that the euro and you'll know why these capsules are more money.BTW, currently Amazon has a 6 pack of canes for 89.99. That's free shipping and comes out to $14.99 which is what the cans costed when they initially rolled out the iperEspresso system.I have been using the black can for some time now. Do not even consider buying the red, medium, roast. This dark roast is exactly what espresso should be like, dark and bold and delicious. The crema produced from this coffee is very very good. sugar will sometimes just sit on the top,

Expensive and not eco-friendly, but I ship all my pods back to illy (hopefully they actually recycle them). But shots are impossible to screw up and deliver a consistent flavor each time.Classico: The flavor you get at an illy cafe. Very smooth and an understated flavor profile.Classico Decaf: Maybe just a mental thing, but not as good as the caffeinated version. But gets the job done when I need a decaf shot later in the day.idillyum: Nice and light flavors and well balanced. I haven't been able to equate it to any other espresso I have had.Intenso: The closest thing to a Starbucks shot. It is ok, but the roast overpowers the flavors a bit.Etiopia: My favorite, intense and complex flavors.

This medium roast is the favorite by far of the team in our office suite: it will wake you up in the morning or mid-afternoon, but is not as strong as the more traditional dark-roast espresso. It is never bitter, even when taken "black" w/o sugar or cream. I personally lean towards one of the Illy "single source" varieties, especially Guatemala (more chocolaty) or the harder-to-find Ethiopia, but I do take this from time to time, especially if it is my second espresso in the day. I will certainly buy it again.P.S.: keep in mind that this is in single-serve capsules that will only work in machines designed for the Illy Iperespresso system, such as the Gaggia for Illy machine.

It has been often said that you get what you pay for. And generally that is true. But not always. I'm happy to say that this is a true statement here. Yes- these capsules are not cheap. The issue is are they worth the price? And the resounding answer is YES! I also have the Francis Francis X1 machine that takes the paper lined pods. The X1 is a much nicer machine than my X8. Yet I cannot pull as consistently as good a shot using the paper pod as I do using the capsule. I would say the paper pods are great 80% of the time. The capsules are great 95% of the time and have a better, thicker creama. The dark roast is especially good. My wife and I prefer it to the normali (red banded can) roast.

Although we love Illy IperEsresso Decaf capsules, this particular order arrived without having a lid on the coffee can - which is a necessity to keep the pods fresh and dust free. Each metal can is vacuum sealed and also has a metal lid as you can tell by the photograph. Fortunately, we had not yet thrown away the empty can so we simply used the lid from the empty can. Prior to this order I have not had any negative issues with any of my IperEsresso capsule orders. They typically arrive on time and in perfect condition. The espresso is absolutely delicious and so very convenient to use in the premeasured filled capsules.Were it not for the missing lid I would have given 5 stars.

Lungo is my favourite of the Illy Iperespresso capsules, my standard morning black coffee is made with these. A more delicately flavoured coffee specially tamped to allow more water through giving the effect of a shot drawn long. If it isn't rich enough for you, you do have the option of adding a shot of the red for an even longer coffee with more flavour. Yes, this is a little extravagant, but it is worth it for special occasions and bad mornings. There is slightly less crema from this and it should be drunk reasonably quickly to be enjoyed at its best. I can get this in a mixed case for a price that works out at about £9.50 for a tin of 21. I refuse to buy it at this price.

Illy really got it right. I have tried the E.S.E pods from Illy and others. The taste of the IperEspresso Capsules is superior. The Creama is outstanding. I also have a Jura Z5 super automatic and it can't match the taste of IperEspresso even using Illy whole beans. The Illy IperEspresso machines are very simple to use and to clean. The downside is the capsules are expensive, about 75 cents a shot compared to 50 cent a shot from the super-automatic. But, using the Amazon's new subscription service the cost has dropped to about 63 cent a shot. If you like the taste of Illy coffee this is one of the best ways to enjoy it.

I'm a home roaster because I like freshly roasted coffee, but these Illy espresso pods taste just about as fresh as my home roast. Illy is the one company that seems to understand how crucial freshly roasted coffee is. Nothing else matters if the beans are stale.These pods produce an impressive layer of crema, with a great taste. I drink it straight, or with some steamed milk and a shot of vanilla as a vanilla latte, and it tastes much better than anything I can get at local coffee shops. If you're thinking about it, I'd say go for it. You won't be disappointed.

I bought this for my wife as she has gone caffeine free and I wanted her to enjoy nice coffee still. I am a fan of Illy and have a number of the Iperespresso ranges to choose from. Ironically my wife didn't enjoy the coffee finding it too bitter for her taste which prompted me to sample it as I like a stronger brew than her. It tastes great and is a parody of the usual black label variant. For those who enjoy coffee and want to sleep at night this is a great cup and I will be buying it again. Delivery was prompt.

I was using the medium roast capsules and would always hit the brew button twice to get a little more espresso in my cup. With these I only have to hit it once and I get a double shot. I guess they pack it a little lighter so more water can get through. Don't know if I'm getting more caffeine or not but I like that it feels like a double shot without having to wait for my espresso machine to warm back up to hit the brew button again like when I used the medium roast capsules.

Great espresso! Been drinking this for years now. The medium roast is just about the perfect middle ground for espresso. The flavor is rich and smooth, and the convenience of the iper capsules can't be beat. I'm amazed that you can get almost the same freshness and quality from this delivery method (as compared to other coffee machines/blends I've tried) as you would from a full tilt espresso machine. If you own a illy iper machine, definitely get this.

This is my favourite of the standard Illy espressos. It is medium flavoured and produces lots of long lasting crema. This is an all purpose coffee that makes fantastic frothy-coffee as well as straight espresso. I usually drink it black, but have taken to caramel lattes made with this and shots of caramel coffee syrup. Sheer decadence. This is a good price too, I don't mind paying a reasonable price for excellent coffee.

I was a Nespresso user, but given a Illi machine as a present and has been running both concurrently. But I've left Nespresso behind and embraced Illi.The choice of coffee is smaller, but the quality is so much better. With Amazon delivery it's as easy to get Illi pods as it is Nespresso when you're not near a Nespresso store. You don't get the marketing and the "club" but you do get much nicer coffee.

I love Illy coffee, and I love my machine - I do worry about the waste these pods make so tend to limit the use of the coffee maker & use a cafetière most days; however, for ease & simplicity, particularly when making beverages for guests, I think it's fab.I've used 3 different types of coffee pod type machines & this is def my favourite.The coffee always ends up tasting lovely.
