This is it, the nicest ground coffee that I have come across in my long search for what I like best - and that search has been going on for decades. Everything is just right about this blend. The can sport's 7 coffee bean symbols on it's side to express the strength - and that is what it is too. The taste is spot-on for me - a nicely bitter tang, but not overly so. Even the fact that this 'Intenso' bold roast comes in sealed cans with ring-pull tops is a winner with me. Oddly, I've always overlooked this brand of coffee, thinking that what I was seeking would eventually be found being produced by some obscure outfit with a peculiarly gimmicky name........but no......here it is being sold right under my nose by 'Illy'.

I am a bit slow on the uptake. For the last couple of years I have been having really bad palpitations at certain times of the day, the worst occurring at about 10 am. It's got so bad that I was fitted with a heart monitor! A couple of weeks ago I said "I don't understand it. I'm just sitting here having a cup of coffee". Doh! It's always when I am sitting having my one cup of coffee! How stupid.Anyway, you don't want to hear my problems, do you?I only have one cup a day, and I like to enjoy it. I had assumed that there would be a great deal of compromise on taste, but, actually, I think I prefer this to my usual brand of full caffeine coffee. I do not feel as if I am giving anything up at all.

Bought this tin of coffee as an emercency measure as we were sent the wrong grind by our usual supplier and had to make sure 100% this was why our espresso coffee machine was'n't working well. We have had illy coffee in the past but we moved on to a stronger coffee from another brand which we preferred. However illy do a stronger coffee in a tin now, we gave this a go for quickness really and it arrived the next day (gotta love Prime!) Have to say we were pleasantly surprised at what a nice cup of coffee it was, not quite as strong as our usual brand but strong enough and very nicely rounded too. No bitterness as some coffee's can be and certainly has a nice taste too.

I am an addict for coffee and I have also worked as a barista for 8 months, so I know a little bit about coffee (oh and I'm 100% italian!). This is by far the best decaf coffee I've ever had.I drink quite a lot of coffee during the day and I like to have a nice coffee in the evening after dinner, but for obvious reasons I can't have normal coffee that late so I go for decaf.I've tried different brands and I was always a little bit disappointed because they didn't taste ''coffeeish'' enough!!! But this one actually does. You can't really feel the difference between caffeinated/decaf coffee and that's why I love it,

Supplied by illy in vacuum sealed tin, initial opened with pull tag on end and screw end cap for subsequent access.This packaging system is supposed to ensure optimum freshness compared to more conventional vacuum bag.I would comment that the force required on the pull tag to peel open is considerable proving too much for my wife.The coffee it’s self is bright, clean and refreshing to drink throughout the day, for us providing a difference to Lavazza Classico which is more chocolate tasting. illy is considerably more expensive than Lavazza and the price I paid of £5 per 250grm has increased to £6.50 which is hard to justify compared to Lavazza.

I bought these because I’ve always like Illy coffee, I wanted the tin to keep it as fresh as possible and because I like espresso even late in the evenings. I also have a bean to cup machine but as the hopper is full of caffeinated beans I wanted a ground coffee for decaf. The flavour is good, you really can’t tell it’s got no caffeine. It’s not as good as some of the small batch independent roasters coffee but as far as branded stuff goes Illy really does come out on top. You can reuse the tin if you want but I just recycle mine as I know I’m more than likely going to get the same one again very soon.

Definitely the best coffee in the market. Don’t waste your time listening the few bad reviews. What they know about coffee? . I’m been in Colombia, Zambia, Hawaii, and Indonesia visiting coffee plantations. I can guarantee you, that at the moment, you will not find a better ground coffee to buy in retail shop or online at £5 the package. This coffee is suitable for filter coffee machine, french press caffeteire , italian cafetera, turkish coffee pot , Japanese glass caffeteire and vienesse balancing coffee machine.

For the right price it's one of the better ones.I see it sold for £5 throughout the year. Just buy a few when it's at that price!I've tried many coffees this year alone:Saula organic ecologicoSaula bourbonSegafredo emozioniKimbo 100% arabica goldLavazza Crema E Gusto & DarkAnd... this one (illy dark roast).It's not as good as the Saula but it's also nearly half the price and is available in most supermarkets.I think it's a great coffee and is on my favourite short list.

Smooth is an understatement.Crema is perfect and, yes, you will get all the flavour notes you want! My espresso machine thanks you, my cafetiere is not as ecstatic as the timing needed adjusting from my usual 4minutes to 3 and a half to get the same effect as the espresso.Keep it fresh, use it quickly. Stale Illy is a crime.I am a long time user of the blend of the mermaid, I am defecting without looking back.Excellent coffee.

Bought this to use with seal pods for my nespresso machine since the packaging wasn’t plastic and I can’t have caffeine. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m using it with seal pods but it’s not very strong in a latte, quite weak in fact which I don’t mind just not what I was expecting. I’m no coffee expert either. That being said I do like the flavour, a little on the bitter side but not in a bad way. Just wish it was stronger.

I like coffee, but I also like money and so, I struggle to understand how people can pay north o £10 for a tin of coffee.This is the most expensive coffee I ever bought, but it's middle of the road as far as prices go and it was discounted. It tastes really good, and smells even better! I use it with a OOMPH press and it's fine, although you have to apply a bit more strength that with other coffees.Try it!

The bean powder came in a beautiful container. The Tin container can be used for other coffee powders that come just in a bag.I gave flavour 4 star but this is strictly very individual taste. The coffee is dark roast so it is strong flavour. I get the taste and smell of burnt coffee beans and bit of bitter after taste.When coffee is brewed, it does have beautiful dark burgundy colour.

I've been all round Europe, including France and Italy, more times than I can remember, and I've had a LOT of espressos.I've bought ground beans back from Europe to use in my home espresso machine, and Illy is the only one which even comes close. I've even got my own bean grinder but I don't need to use it, this is perfect.Buy it, you won't regret it. It'll sure wake you up.

Unfortunately this has turned me into a coffee snob! whenever I visit friends & family I now ask for tea as any brand other than illy coffee I find inferior & if given instant coffee I found myself looking for a plant pot to tactfully discard, there is a illy normal(red label)roast available that my wife prefers although I do not find this overally strong.

I don't often find that I enjoy drinking 'decaff' coffee - this one I think you will struggle to know your are drinking 'decaff'. Thanks for the previous reviews as this lead me to purchase and think its well worth the purchase. Allows me to indulge in my italian coffee machine, more often. I suspect I will end up buying more decaff than normal coffee!
