I usually buy from specialty roasters but was running low and wanted something to tide us over. I had previously noticed a lot of coffee drinkers were buying this Lavazza variety, at least when not going to a local, artisan, roaster. So I thought, let's give it a go. The Kg price is very reasonable and with next day Prime delivery there wasn't much to lose.In fact these beans were surprisingly good overall. They were not fresh roasted (around 3 months) and the roast itself is a little dark so hints of oil are beginning to form on the surface of the bean. However, I found this coffee pretty easy to dial in on the grinder and was quickly drawing about 40 grams of espresso in the cup from 18 grams in 28 seconds, which I found to work quite well with this coffee in my espresso machine. The taste has a typically chocolate nuttiness to it but is, for me, slightly swamped by the roast itself which pronounced in Americano. However, it excel best in milky based coffee drinks and, in particular, I found it worked very well in single or double shot Cappuccino - keeping to the ratio (mentioned above). Running off 50 + grams of espresso made for a sour cup and aftertaste.Somewhat surprising also was that I didn't find the crema particularly pronounced over other 'regular' crema's, at least from my espresso machine. Overall, though, these beans are more than capable of making a very good cup of coffee (cappo, latte, flat, etc.), and certainly better than what you will find in coffee shop chains.

This coffee is certainly not for everyone. It is a strong, dark roast coffee made up with a mixture of both arabica and robusta beans. Arabica beans tend to have a sweeter, softer taste, with tones of sugar, fruit, and berries. Their acidity is higher, with that winey taste that characterises coffee with excellent acidity. Robusta, however, has a stronger, harsher taste, with a grain-like overtone and peanuty aftertaste. Good-quality robusta beans are used in traditional Italian espresso blends, at about 10-15%, to provide a full-bodied taste and a better foam head, often known as the crema. In this regard especially, this blend of beans provides an excellent crema. But as hinted at earlier in my review, many might find this coffee too strong and perhaps on the bitter side.Indeed rather like a Portugeuse espresso, known as a "bica", even coffee aficionados may still reach for the sugar. In fact it is often said that many Lisbon locals claim that "Bica" is an acronym for "Beba isso com açúcar", literally meaning "Drink this with sugar".Having becoming accustomed with the rich espressos in Portugal, this blend by Lavazza certainly replicates this experience. The only drawback is the price which, at around £13+ a kilo, is a little expensive.

Not bad at all.I wanted an alternative to our expensive locally roasted fresh beans for use in a Sage Oracle espresso machine.I thought I'd try these. The bag contained a roasting date that was about a month prior to my receiving thew bag - better than I thought it would be.When I opened the bag and got started on grinding, the results were really pretty good and compared well to the freshly roasted beans. After a few days however (grinding at a rate of about 100g per day) the freshness seemed to fall off more quickly than the fresh beans. I would say that the first 400g were very good, the next 400g were good and the last 200g were less good, probably falling below the threshold of what I would ideally have liked. So,I would say these are:1) Good if you are going to get through a bunch of beans very quickly - say within 3 days or so.2) Good in a pinch if you cannot source fresher beans or if you want to have some beans 'in stock' in case you come up short on the fresh supply.3) Fine if you don't mind a more rapid falling off of flavour after a few days. They are cheaper than a kilo of freshly roasted beans (which are about £22-28). They are way better than supermarket beans (which I wouldn't bother with). Good compromise bean.

First Class Beans!I have a Delongi Esam4000.b bean to cup machine and have tried many beans in it. I am a big lover of Costa's Mocha Italia bean but its hard to find a reliable source of them as they do not offically sell them (last look was £29.50 per kg). These beans (Lavazza super crema) are just as good, infact i would say better. They have a nice sweetness to them and even if you crunch one in the mouth straight from the bag they are not to bitter. On my machine i have the grinder set to fine (2)and the dose set to max (bout 11g). The water i have set to about 30ml. These are the recommended settibgs on the bag.The results are great, about 4mm of crema on top of a lush dark shot.Nice rich taste.Single shot does a standard latte glass nicely and the milk does not drown it out.Double shot does a flat white (in my "borrowed" costa flat white cup) nicely. Though anyone with the same machine will know how hard it is to texture milk with the wand as it cant be angled.Overall for the price £11.49 when bought and a yeild of about 90 shots (11g each) working out at just under 13p a shot i would highly recommended this bean.

These have been our favourite beans for an absolute age now. We have tried many over the years but none compare to these for our tastes. They make a lovely full flavoured coffee without bitterness and have a lovely aroma and crema. They do well in our Delonghi Magnifica bean-to-cup machine. We buy two kilogrammes of theses at a time as they always have a good best-before-date, and store well, wrapped in cling film and kept in an airtight plastic container. Every time I open a new bag, I fill the machine hopper and the rest just completely fill two medium and one small kilner jar which are then kept in a dark kitchen cupboard and stay completely fresh until the machine needs a refill.

I recently bought a bean-to-cup coffee machine and was looking for some great coffee beans! Well needless to say I got lost trying to decide amongst 100s of beans going through endless amazon reviews. I decided to go with these as they were getting really good amazon and expert reviews. Well, I must honestly say that the reviews were right, and I am now a Lavazza addict. The coffee is a perfect balance of aroma, body and taste perfect for espresso or cappuccino, easily comparable to any take out coffee. While these are priced a tad above average, in my view they are definitely worth it! So, try these out and you can thank me later!

I've been buying/grinding coffee beans for a year now . I have tried quite a few brands , some good some not so.I drink a pint of black coffee every morning on the strong side , Lavazza does it for me.These are smooth but got the kick I need . I won't intellectualise about these beans - they are good , say no more.Having tried different brands , I will stick with Lavazza for the time being - the perfect coffee still eludes me !UPDATE November 2020I keep coming back to Lavazza having strayed and tried other beans more recently. Great coffee every morning .

I have now had several cups of this lovely coffee bean. Both with and without milk. It is Lovely and smooth, (as you would expect of lavazza) fairly strong with only the slightest hint of bitterness, very close in flavour and strength to what I think of as coffee shop espresso. It was ordered from Alpha Caffe and fulfilled by amazon, delivery as always through prime was exceptionally fast. My new 'go to' bean whilst we continue to try our way through as many different coffe beans as I can.

Avoid - as a coffee enthusiast, always buy fresh coffee from your local place. This package arrived without any roasting date, nothing. Also, the oils rose to the top - like small drops, disgusting - when extracted with a Gaggia Classic. I’ve never seen something alike.UPDATE: I actually started to get good crema after some tries. However, the freshness is a little bit of an issue there. I slightly recommend but not the best beans for your daily espresso doses or lattes.

This coffee was lovely! We use this in our bean to cup machine which is generally only used on weekends or if we have a few people over. The coffee is really bold and had a delicious creamy taste to it. The bag is HUGE and has lasted a long time! From first opening you can smell the delicious coffee and the beans grind down really well to make a great cup! Has enough of a kick to wake you up but not overpowering. Would definitely buy again.

Oh! A Perfect Blend! I love my coffee and this is fab. Nice blend of flavours. I tried a specific flavour separately, but this one is perfect on the palate for me. Well balanced flavour, not sweet or bitter but a good not too strong but a lovely coffee at 17: 1 ratio in a french press. Will buy this again. Just sit back and enjoy!

Like most people who buy whole beans, the quest for the perfect cup is a lifelong obsession. Most of us try numerous beans and never really find the grail. This comes close. And I say this as someone who has purchased beans from tribespeople who only appear out of the mountain fog every 7 years and have never seen a white man.

I've tried loads of Lavazza coffee beans and have many favourites —SUPER CREMA is one of them. It's not super strong but strong enough on flavour to satisfy with good body. Smooth and creamy it also makes very good black coffee, I personally love it with double cream & brown sugar —made in my Bialetti moka it's just devine...

Bought fresh roasted beans from a workshop near my town. 6 or 7 different types of coffee. The think is that I can't drink it without milk. It's too bitter! Full of flavour no word about that. This one in the other hand is the perfect one. Is strong, full of flavour and I'm able to drink it black.Using a sage machinerys.

Running this gorgeous stuff through a Cuisinart Bean to Cup machine (8 cups setting for 2 x 17oz cups + 1 iced coffee later) and we both agree that this is the best tasting coffee that we've had at home. A little pricey - not too much, though. Will be a repeat purchaser from this point on. Can't recommend it enough.
