... great for everyday drinking and for dinner parties. Just enough after-taste to convince you that you've had a cup of 'real' coffee.I usually have Taylors ready ground decaf from the shops and this is better. Surprisingly small beans but a quite powerful taste. No bean strength on the pack but I would say it is stronger than my usual buy, but not that strong that it 'bites back'.It doesn't state how it's decaffeinated which concerned me as I prefer the Swiss Water method. I looked on Lavassa's website where they explained the CO2 method they use. Instead of lots of washing/soaking, the beans are put in water and the CO2 is pumped through taking the caffine out with it but not the flavour.I decided that, for the taste of this coffee, I can compromise on that.I'm using an electric coffee grinder with blades that is around 45 years old and I've found it needs a few good long blasts (and shaking between) to be fine enough for the water to get through in the right time to make a good strength cup. Possibly the new burr grinders would do it quicker though I've never used one. I noticed that when emptying out the ground coffee there is always a bit left adhering to the sides, so possibly it's an 'oily' bean type; they are quite shiny.I tried this bean coffee to 'experiment' with our new Delongi expresso machine as I can only drink decaf and husband wants his daily caffine kick; but if you served this up to someone without saying it was a decaf I don't think they would really be able to tell taste/strength wise.I bought just a single pack to try it (along with a caffeine one for 'his-self'). I thought, sizewise, it was good value as a single, but will be even better bought as a multiple deal. After years of putting up with a 'second-rate' taste because of being unable to tolerate caffine it's now a 'first-class' cup of coffee for me. I served it to a dinner guest who usually drinks caffeinated (and had declined a coffee because it was late at night); he thought it was very good taste-wise.Hint: if you drink a lot of coffee and have just decided to cut out caffine it's better to do it by reducing it slowly. Substitute one cup then another until, over a period of time, you are only drinking decaf. By trying to go 'cold turkey' I got some not nice side-effects.

One has very little or no choice of decaffeinated coffee beans in retail stores and supermarkets, so one has to buy from a specialist. I find the Lavazza DEK beans very flavourful and they make a coffee with good body which is suitable for breakfast and all day drinking. For cardiac reasons I have to cut down on my daily caffeine intake and these DEK beans fulfil the purpose admirably. I still drink Lavazza's Qualita Rosso if I need some caffeine during the dayIn fact, at evening committee meetings, when I serve this DEK coffee made in a cafetiere, none of my colleagues realises that the coffee is decaf. These beans are decaffeinated using the water process which accounts for their premium price.Cheaper decaf beans are solvent decaffeinated. A process that I am not comfortable with.Overall a good product and recommended. In my cafetiere I always use a medium grind setting using a burr grinder and infuse for 4 minutes before depressing the plunger. Don't ram the plunger hard down against the coffee grounds or you will extract the bitterness.

At last, a decaffeinated coffee bean that has flavour - a rarity I've found. A couple of months ago having had a horrible medical where my blood pressure was a bit grim I cut out - among other things - caffeine. Problem is of course that I do like a coffee first thing in the morning with the brekkie. And they have to be beans because I have a bean to cup machine. So over the last two months I've tried about twenty different brands starting off with the trendy - and bloody expensive ones. Which were frankly a con. Watery rubbish with a high price tag that tasted little better than (yuk) instant. Eventually I decided that maybe the big brands became the big brands because they knew what they were doing.Starbucks was pretty decent, Douwe Egberts good. But this. This is the best. Full bodied, flavoursome and even being decaff a properly good cup of coffee. So far the best I've had and certainly the one I'd currently recommend.

Because of the medical condition that my wife has she was advised by our doctor to stay off caffeine. we have bean to cup machine and she absolutely loves coffee so it has been my mission to find a good quality decaffeinated bean to use in our machine in exchange. We have been getting some organic beans from our local market but they cost a fortune, these ones by lavazza are an excellent buy for the price. The coffee tastes lovely and rich and always has a good crema on top and you would really struggle to tell the difference from fully leaded coffee. Overall I am really pleased with this quality product from lavazza and we will definitely buy again.

How this product is of use to me:I use it in my Saeco superautomatic to make my daily cappuccino. I love decaf and this offers a fantastic taste. Not bitter, smooth and flavoursome. The beans are a light colour and the crema is decent. I'd rate it 6/10.The pack size at Amazon offers the best VFM I could find. I've ordered a few times from here! What I feel potential buyers should consider before buying this:It's certainly VFM and the taste is consistently superior to supermarket own label brands. All for not much more money.Would I buy it again, or recommend it to my friends /family:Most certainly!Hope you found my review useful? : - )

After finding myself drinking more coffee than can possibly be acceptable I was talked into trying decaff... after many years of attempting decaff coffees and losing interest, in my experience a typical decaff is good as a one-off drink followed by a 'oh you can't tell the difference' conversation, but using it as my go-to coffee leaves me with a "It's just not right, somethings missing!" feeling & I soon go back to caffinated. This one however, I've filled my bean to cup machine and have been drinking it for the past few days and I'm quite happy doing so!

The beans are as described. Not bad for decaff. I use a delonghi dedica, the crema is pretty good. Nice and smooth in a latte using a double shot. As far as drinking it as an espresso and Americano i found it a little bitter, i like a good strong cup, my go to bean is generally dark roast starbucks so i didnt expect the same taste profile but for a smooth milky cup these beans are great and wont send your blood pressure through the roof. A good go between when my heart can't handle any more caffiene lol. quality 100% though and delivery was prompt.

If you are looking for decaffeinated coffee beans your options are far more limited than they are for 'normal' beans. This brand is reasonably priced and makes a perfectly serviceable cup of coffee. The flavour is not harsh and bitter like cheaper brands. The flavour has good 'depth' and is quite aromatic. Personally, the best brand I have found for decaffeinated beams is Illy, but they are a little more expensive.. There is nothing much to dislike about this brand however.

I have to avoid caffeine because I am sensitive to it. It inflames the lining of my stomach. It annoys me that there is such a limited choice in decaffeinated coffee beans because anyone normal coffee with the same brand of decaf would be hard pressed to tell the difference but there is a stigma against it so sales tend to be low. These beans, however, really hit the spot. It's just a shame you can only buy them on-line.

I have been purchasing a lot of fairly expensive good quality coffee for my Sage Dual boiler machine, I have to say that this is a really nice smooth coffee, it had been relegated to the last jar to be used, went straight from the expensive stuff to this and I have to say it made a really nice coffee, this will now be my regular.I defy anyone to tell it is decaff (I have given it to people and they havent had a clue!)

This is the second time I have purchased Lavazza decaffeinated beans, I don't know what decaffeinated process they use CO2 or water , however it's very tasty, no roast date , no caffeine content but it tastes like a normal coffee beans, subject to grind etc, but with no caffeine . And at around 8.00 per 500g it's very good value. Once opened I normally store my beans in the freezer. Enjoy . Chris Broxbourne

I've had numerous brands of decaf beans over the years (Lavazza's decaffeinato offering, Illy, you name it) and just wasn't overly satisfied. I primarily drink espresso-based drinks, and picked these up as I'd heard some good things. These are without a shadow of a doubt, the best decaff beans I've tried. Give them a shot (no pun intended) if you think decaf is bad, these should hopefully change your mind!

This is about the best decaf you can buy as beans, at a sane price at least. But it can be improved. If you don't mind a dash of caffein in the mix -- just a little, not enough to cause problems, then try mixing one 500g pack of Lavazza DEK decaffeinated Coffee Espresso Beans with one 250g tin of illy Espresso Classic Roast Coffee Beans (so two decaf to one caffeinated). So one of these:

I buy this decaff coffee as I now find it difficult to find decaff in beans, beans being all my coffee machine will accept, and decaff is all I can drink for health reasons, it has a mild flavour, I would prefer stronger even double shot doesn't really hit the mark, but lack of choice means it is pretty much all I can get. May have to bite the bullet and buy a machine to use powder.

This is lovely coffee and the first I’ve tried that actually tastes no different to caffeinated.I’m a coffee snob with a fancy bean to cup machine and it pains me to have to buy decaf - it’s like insulting my beloved machine.I’ve tried several types and paid 4x more for decaf beans that are ultimately disappointing. This is a great find and makes coffee drinking enjoyable again.
