This is a very good toy to chase because it does not behave like a ball. It jumps around. This is one of at least four HuggleHounds critters in this series I have bought for our 6-year old Lab and his Lab buddies. To our dogs, it is essentially a ball shape with protrusions on the sides and bottom that make its bounce completely unpredictable. The design offers the most "action" of all I have tried. That is an advantage in play interest to breeds that take the game of fetch seriously. Will it survive your dog's chewing? First of all, consider age. Had this been given to a Lab puppy, the ears would have been sheared off before it hit the floor twice. Every breed is different and my bet is that you probably know yours well. They are quite well made but young dogs with razor sharp equipment and almost constant need to chew means limitations in longevity of almost everything short of Kong Black throwing toys -- and although very rare, I have seen dogs capable of taking chunks out of them too. I believe that we can adjust our expectations to our specific dog's capabilities, age and behavior. Our dog is now mature and mostly interested in just keeping a stuffed toy in his mouth a lot of the time. If you have Labs you will understand. But the first three years to one degree or another he could take apart most everything we gave him. He still has great teeth but in his first year he could cut through a tough material like used in seat belts with one pass. That was far more expensive to replace than his toys. We expected an attrition rate and preferred that he be busy with something that was not a shoe, upholstery or seat belts. The real answer here is your willingness to always supervise your little chewer after "puppy proofing" your place in appropriate ways. Your dogs will each have their own particular shearing and chewing habits by age. It helps to buy things most appropriate for each stage. This toy is probably not for the earliest, most ardent, toy lethal stages IMO.Others in this series that dogs seem to like as well: the Cow, Raccoon, and Duck. I have bought them at different sizes for different dogs. Clearly that is crucial to avoid possibility of choking if too small. Large works for adult Labs but for a big dog as in Bull Mastiff, please consider the next size up, the Super Size.

This is much cuter and fun for my fur babe than I thought it would be. He’s small, hyper energetic, chews everything, but loves to chase inside, too. I wanted it to be fuzzy, but this is what he needed exactly. He can run for it and drag it back by the ear or “plays hockey” with his front paws getting it back to me. I’ve watched him for several months with what seems like a hundred toys. He cares for this one-it does not get destroyed when left in his little toy bin on his own. I would have guessed this toy’s ears, arms, feet would have rendered it as another toy gone, but thankfully, the cost was worthy and my need for a “soft” toy was over looked. This one is not hard like a baseball as this does have a squeaker and air in it.I’m sure it could be destroyed, but it’s on the fave list now!

In a houseful of border collies (5) our little mixed breed had a hard time playing with and carrying the larger squeaker toys. We purchased the pink pig several years ago and surprisingly, the border collies also love to play with it. They have destroyed much more durable toys but for some reason, they are gentle with the squeaky pig and are constantly taking it away from our smaller mixed breed. So to be fair, I ordered each of them their own pig or owl. Now everyone is happy and no more complaints from my mixed breed that "one of the boys" has stolen her toy again! I never thought that the original pink pig would last more than a week, but is is now 4 years old and although dirty, the squeaker still works and it is still a bouncy fun toy. Thrilled to find these on Amazon.

O.M.G. These are the indestructible replacement for HuggleHounds discontinued Mr. Candy Corn (please bring the candy corn back - I keep sewing mine up bc my Bouv loves him so). Made from some latexy material and filled with the most awesome squeakers that can yield prolonged squeeks, this moose has made it a year in our house with the Bouv of a thousand toys. Though not the same rugged wooly exterior as Mr. Candy Corn, this moose has withstood some dedicated chew sessions and still retains its ears and wings. Go figure. If you have a chewer, try it. Would provide initial supervision to make sure no one trys to actually eat it. Try it, you'll like it. Unless you can get a Mr. Candy Corn. He's the best.

So I see a number of low star reviews for this line of toys and am really surprised that people complain that a semi-soft dog toy might tear after a dog has been playing with it for awhile. We have a large Husky-Shepherd mix that loves these toys. And yes these toys will tear after some rough chewing. For us they typically last between 4-6 months. Which we have no problem with. He has many toys but the one he goes for again and again is his owl. Yeah he has a Kong that is nine years old and there is a reason for that, he rarely ever chooses it from his toy basket. For less than the price of a latte giving our dog a toy that he loves and replacing it every six months is a bargain.

I have both the large and mini. The mini is definitely her favorite because she can get it all in her mouth and make it squeak. She plays and plays with it all by herself pawing it and letting it roll. Of course, you have to know your dog. Mine doesn't tear up her toys or break toy balls or squeaker toys. She loves small toys. I can see that it wouldn't last with some dogs who play differently. She likes the large, but she can't get it all in her mouth the way she likes. She will retrieve it though and hit it with her paw to make it squeak. I left ithe mini with her when I boarded her, and the squeaker was the worse for west when she got out. It didn't limit her enthusiasm for it.

This is our second HuggleHounds, we have Tony the Pony already. I got the moose so that our chewer can have one at home and one in the camper. He's treated the moose differently from the pony, due to the antler & ear configuration. The pony does not have any "outtie" pieces, and the moose has protruding ears & antlers. He has chewed off one ear because he *could* on this one, and could not on the pony. The squeaker no longer works because of this, but he still loves this moose. We will watch him more carefully, and make sure he does not chew off an antler, as that could cause a stomach blockage. So these are really tough, but nothing is totally indestructible.

This is my Labradoodle, BruceWayne's favorite toy. He has loved this toy since he was a puppy. He is now 4 yrs. old. I am always restocking this toy for him and keep several on hand at all times. His eyes light up when he sees, "Piggy". It's got a very loud squeak, which is what he loves so much, however, after a while, the squeaking drives us all crazy, so we do a "circumcision" to the squeak piece. Usually sticking a toothpick or similar into the little squeak hole, which alters the squeak to a bearable level. In any case, no other toy makes him as happy as this one does. Lasts a long time too. Don't hesitate. Buying more after I leave this review! : )

I was really excited about this toy I thought it was gonna be a little bigger based on the description but it was about the size of a baseball I don't know about you but size large to me is more like a softball maybe a little bigger not as of a baseball little deceiving but awesome present got this for my bull terrier for Christmas I thought it was awesome so I knew her simple mind was going to absolutely adore it. Came home today from work and she had absolutely ripped it to smithereens... I imagine the moose final thoughts were such as a moose in the wild as a grizzly bear kills it and slowly feeds off it. I was bummed

I have a little mutt with a bizarrely small mouth, he loves to squeak things and loves to chase balls, which means it can be hard finding the right toy for him. Most are a bit too big or hard for him to squeak, this one is perfect! He absolutely adores it, it's perfect to toss (I like to lightly hit it against a wall since that's enough to make it squeak which makes my dog very happy) and makes a loud (admittedly annoying for humans) squeak. This toy might not be good for more "robust" dogs, it'll fall apart with aggressive chewers, but for my little sissy, it's perfect.

Bought this for my new job as a stress reliever for work. My coworkers and I have thrown this around the office on several occasions, it’s surprisingly dirty and gross. The office is clean but it has picked up all the small stuff. It has found its forever home... on a shelf. It’s brought down for those special occasions when people are an absolute nightmare. (Side note: I do not work with food, that would be gross and immoral especially during this time.) The squeak is a reminder that peoples is peoples, they are not above us. We are all human.

I got this dog toy with high hopes! My Corgi took a liking to his, while my terrier mix wasn’t to enthusiastic. They played a short while with them the day we got them. The following day, my Corgi was ready to go again with his owl, Terrier not so much. My Corgi played fetch with me, ignoring our kitten for the first time! I was really pleased! Something had taken his mind off the monster invader. But then, I noticed something was wrong! There were several holes in the head of the poor owl toy. And it’s not even lost it’s new toy smell!

Yet another great buy for my english bulldog. We bought him the hugglehounds mini blue bird squeaky toy before--and he's been in love with it ever since--so we thought why not get another variety. This mini owl has replaced our bulldog's favorite toy(blue bird); probably because this is easier to bring along with him on his walk. I've had the squeaker come out of the first blue bird we bought, but this owl seems to be withstanding our puppy's constant chewings. I am super satisfied with the purchase of this mini owl:)

My pup loves this toy. This is his second one. The first one lasted quite a while until he chewed too big of a hole that he was pulling out the stuffing and we took it away. Kind of expensive but its my pups favorite toy other than his Frisbee so I dont really care. I dont understand the negative reviews. Yes its a more durable toy than quite a few stuffed toys I have bought. Its not indestructible. Anyone that thinks a stuffed toy will last forever obviously hasn't had a dog long enough.

I have the large and smaller versions of these. They are perfect and surprisingly really durable. I got these for my 2 small-ish dogs and they love the large size. They did chew an ear off but still in great shape. I also got one as a gift for a 14lb dog, and she loved it too (the large one!). Super cute too. I will say they're pretty loud squeaking which is great for the dogs, but be aware. The large ones are quieter than the smaller ones.
