I was a little overwhelmed by the choice of grooming products when we got our Border Terrier. This breed in particular has a coat that is preferably removed by hand. However, I was looking for something to thin our her undercoat and stop her overheating. To my surprise, this product popped up in a search and on further inspection via the Furminator website realised it would be perfect for our dog.----It arrived and I must admit I was a little dubious as the teeth looked quite invasive, but I needn't have worried. Upon dragging through my dog's coat, I was amazed to see that the top coat was completely untouched, but the downy fluff building up under her dog coat was coming out easily.I was amazed.----It also has a little white tab on the head to press down and this pushes up a piece of plastic which ejects the hair from the teeth. It's so easy. The handle is durable rubber and very easy to grip even if using chalk whilst stripping their coat.My dog wasn't up nor down about this product being used. Showing no signs of discomfort I quickly managed to remove a fair amount of undercoat.----The relief in finding a useful product is just incredible...especially for a dog with such a difficult coat like a Border Terrier. I'm so pleased I gave it a go. Plus it's so easy to do that you don't think twice about brushing your dog regularly. Couldn't be quicker and couldn't be easier. The hair eject button is so practical too...it completely speeds up the process. Wonderful, well thought out product.

I was offered the FURminator Undercoat deShedding tool for medium sized dogs to review, but was actually sent the horse version. This is not a problem for me, and hopefully won't happen if you actually *buy* the deshedder, but it does affect my review a little -- although not as much as it might have.As a deshedder this brush is excellent. I used it on my wirehaired pointer x Labrador and transformed her from a hedge to a sleek hound in a few short strokes. Anyone with a Lab in their life (even a part one) will know that their undercoat is a menace, but this brush deals with it without any fuss or bother. Yes, the horse-sized version is huge, but since I only ever use these types of tools on my dog's back and sides, this isn't an issue for me. It could cause a lot of discomfort and potential damage if pressed too hard in sensitive places, regardless of the skin guard, so I don't think the size of the tool is too much of an issue unless your dog is very small. The ejector button is great, removing the hair in one easy clump, and the handle is easy to grip and hold. I have used several different deshedding tools on my dogs over the years and this one is by far the best and easiest to use. However, the price (even reduced) is exceptionally steep for any size above extra small, so while I do recommend it for heavy shedding dogs, I am doubtful that it's impressive enough to beat out all its other rivals.

FURminator Undercoat deShedding Tool for Medium Short Hair Dogs 9-23 kg.We have 2 rescue dogs, they are both short haired but oh my they still loose lots of hair all over the house, no matter how much I hoover up there's still hair!So when this FURminator arrived I immediately got it into action, I took one at a time outside into the back garden and got to work on deShedding..... I was amazed at how much fur was in this tool, I removed the fur and carried on until there was hardly any hair in the tool, and then I did the same with our other dog, he wasn't as bad but I still removed a lot of fur!I try and give a brush with this everyday to prevent my home from being so hairy,I've already noticed less hair on everything. This is a fantastic tool that every dog owner should own. It's removes the loose Undercoat without damaging the top coat, it's a very safe tool to use.It has a guard for protecting the teeth when not in use. Both our dogs like this been used on them, it must feel nice and relaxing I guess.I can highly recommend this FURminator.

The Furminator works really well on my black lab. She moults a lot twice a year and has a very dense undercoat which seems to get everywhere. I have been grooming her every couple of days for about 15 minutes. and her coat looks sleek; it hasn't stopped her moulting but it reduces the amount of hair that's spread about the house. She's a dog who has never really liked being groomed but has responded very well to this brush although it's important not to brush too vigorously as the teeth are hard and I suspect grooming could be uncomfortable without care being taken. I have found that other brushes have created a lot of static but this one doesn't so it is easy to deal with the removed hair.I put off buying the deshedding tool because of the price but as it works so well I'm not unhappy that I did. Much is made of the natty clicking button that pushes the hair off the brush but I have found that its actually easier to remove by hand. That said, and despite the price, I would unreservedly recommend the furminator to other lab owners.

I have a akita dog and she is starting to shed her winter coat, and everyone who has 1 of these dogs knows when they start shedding their coat its a nightmare with the clumps of fur that get all over, so i needed something that i could use to combat this, soooo after a lot of searching on the likes of youtube / eBay / and the internet i settled for 1 that had the most and best reviews The FURminator, so after looking at prices on eBay i found 1 that was reasonably priced and just as i was about to buy it a popup from Amazon displayed the same 1 just cheaper, i decided to buy it from Amazon i ordered it on the 15/02/21 and received it on the 16/02/21 and after using it i was not disappointed,my dog Zenna now has a really shiny coat minus the clumps of hair and most importantly no chasing after her and picking up her shredding coat. Really pleased and if your in the same position i was i can whole heartily recommend this FURmanator.

This is a brilliant comb that is ideal for my dogs. This comb removes some of the undercoat hair, this means there is less chance of it getting knotty and tangled and therefore keeps them more comfortable. The handle has a runner coating and is a very comfy fit in the hand. I love the little button at the top of the handle, you press this in and the hair is pushed away from the teeth to make it easier to remove the hair from the brush. The teeth are a good length for getting into the coat and not too long that it is against the skin. They are a bit on the sharp side when I pressed my finger against them, but as you are only combing there should be no damage to the dogs skin.My dogs fur feel so much better for using this comb,I did use a detangling brush before using the fuminator.I am delighted with this brush and think it is excellent value, it feels sturdy and well-made and I would recommend it.

I love this brush! I have a crossbreed with a double coat. I've used so many brushes and none of them can get all the dander out, which results in lots if shedding and a stinky, itchy dog. One go with the furminator (and a bath) and my dog's coat is light, shiny and dander free. I've also noticed significantly less fur around the house too. On first use I got out a pile of hair nearly as big as the dog but second go was a small pile of newly grown dander so nice and easy to keep on top of. Brushing him doesn't take nearly as long now, which we're both happy about. He has hip dysplasia so the less time I spend putting pressure on his back end, the better. Doesn't seem to bother him when being brushed either. Some other brushes seem to have hurt his skin so we couldn't use. He nearly fell asleep while I used the furminator. Highly, highly recommend.

First impression when removed from its box is that it is not flimsy. It has a good handle on it which is very comfortable to hold. Also it has a bit weight to it as well.I was slightly confused at first as it arrived with the packaging saying it was for equine use.But on further investigation there was a sticker indicating for dog use with a weight and length of hairIt was to be used on.My goodness it really does strip hair out. We have a long haired Dachshund that gets combed regularly but this removed vast amounts more. Used gently it doesn't catch or hurt. After just a few minutes we ended up with a pile of fine hair.Easy to take off the teeth as has a button to press that does that. When buying be sure to get the right one for the length of hair. From what I've read that's more important than weight of the dog.

Does as it says on the tin, easy to use, comfortable to hold. I used it on my retriever 7month pup. Been at it for around an hour and I have removed an absolute shed load of hair from my dog.Whilst it took a while, I’m glad I have invested the time to do this as I can only imagine the mess my home would have been for weeks and weeks had I not.And I could have easily continued to remove further hair but I felt I didn’t want to over do the brushing incase of irritating his skin. The guidance does say 20mins duration but my dog seemed to enjoy it and I was very gentle on him.Overall very effective tool, the only thing I have negative to say is I feel for what it is the price is way too much.I think if it were half the price it was (I paid around £30)that would have been a more reasonable price.

We have a golden retriever. We wanted to buy this based on the "eject button" which furminator is famous for. When grooming, it helps to be able to clean the brush quickly and continue on. The feature carries a premium price-tag.I understand that this is the newer "furminator" which has the two plastic protectors at the side to prevent accidental scratching of the dog's skin. Fur gets stuck around these protectors when using the "eject" button, so I end up picking the fur out of it myself. I'm now not sure if it is worth the premium over another unit, but it would be something to consider. Had I known this I wouldn't have opted for it.Otherwise the unit is super high quality.All-metal mechanism in a plastic body. Comfortable to use. A bit of a heft to it too (don't drop it on your foot).

I bought the medium De-shedder for long-haired dogs as a grooming aid for my nervous Spaniel cross who we recently re-homed. She has had one session with the groomer before lock-down, but has the kind of coat that will need frequent attention in between grooms. I've only used the tool once and made sure I checked all the user instructions first as I was a bit nervous it might work a bit too well, but it's fantastic. Also, my girl who isn't yet relaxed with being groomed, settled in and obviously wasn't concerned about it. The hair ejector button means I can hold her still with one hand and use the tool with the other. Lots of undercoat came out,so I'm optimistic regular use will reduce the amount of hair around the house and help keep her coat and skin healthy.

This is the best dog brushing tool I have ever used! I was so fed up of constantly brushing up dog hair where my border collie had been moulting and my usual brush I found would just spread the hair as opposed to brush it out! It was recommended to me by a couple of friends and as it is a de-shedding tool it actually does what it's supposed to! The amount of fur I can get from him is amazing! And he absolutely loves it!Really easy to use and there's a little button to reject the fut once the tool is full which means you rarely have to handle the fur that's come off!I usually brush him in the garden and the birds absolutely love picking up his fir to line their nests! Well worth the money, the best investment I've made all year!!

Product arrived on time and I couldnt wait to use it on our Long Haired GSD. I brushed him with cheaper brushes and took fur away but this went to a different level, the first thing I noticed was the colour and type of hair being taken off him. His coat became noticeably thinner and beautifully shiny and soft. If this is the effect of the first brush then I cant wait until the subsequent ones. The brush itself is well made and there is a guard for the teeth when not in use, note, unlike me not clocking it, that the guard isnt separate but the plastic that pushes the hair out of the teeth that extends. In all a most impressive item that I am most impressed with, the dog likes it too!!!He hasnt scratched himself all day.

Seen an advert for the furminator and read other reviews to make sure it was good before I purchased one for my chihuahua. I received it yesterday and tried it straight away as he seems to shed more coat than most I end up having to hover 3 or 4 times a day. I must say this product is absolutely amazing, he was only brushed on Saturday and to get the amount I did off his coat with the furminator was astounding. Will definitely be using it all the time. Normally when he is brushed I have to sit and feed him treats to stay still but with this he actually just stood there and let me do it. Top Mark's for this one for use but a little let down on the price of it I thought

My Rommy rescue constantly sheds! He hates the hook tooth grooming tool I use (it gets lots of hair out in fairness), so he runs off every time he sees it.1st pic is pre bath, 2nd is post bath. The furminator is excellent, he seems to find it quite therapeutic - to the point of closing his eyes and lifting his paw so I can do his tummy!!A word of warning - I feel it will keep pulling out hair, so I stopped after 40 minutes on his post bath groom. I checked his skin, and there was one area which was a little red, with red spots where the hair had been pulled out. My pooch wasn't in any pain or discomfort - but I'll be mindful next time. All in all, brilliant product
