Brilliant, Mark! Write a review for a game based on a 1 minute trailer you saw!The GBA shined in terms of adventure and RPG titles - there were dozens of great new titles and remakes. But most of the DS efforts so far have been tatty, slow and/or plagued by pointless touch-screen elementsFossil League is a surprising low-profile RPG that feels like a cross between the original Pokemon games and earlier Final Fantasy games. You roam around through 6 different ages, collecting fossils, battling and collecting dinosaurs. I haven't completed the game so can't comment on the story element so far but there is one here, and it's fun to playWhile the game has had good professional reviews, the game has been put down for its visuals. I can't understand why, really as the game has a quality unique to itself. The worlds consist of fairly detailed 3D areas and human characters are shown as 2D sprites. The visuals in battle mode are quite impressive - 3D dinosaur models with fluid animations and nice attack effects. Any dinosaurs you come across can be read about in the Dinopedia where you can also view the dinosaurs in full 3D which is a nice addition and will please the younger audienceThe sound lets the game down. Most of the tunes are very short loops and can become repetitive but there's nothing terribly annoying in the game. Sound effects are pretty good, with some good voices (killing a flying dinosaur will let off a very cool howl that seems to fit in with the battle music)Gameplay is typical RPG fair - wander around, get into turn-based battles, follow instructions etc. When roaming, you can walk or run. Instead of random occuring battles, enemies can be seen on the map. If you try to avoid them, they will spot you and chase you. Unless you're really low on health, there's no real reason to run as grinding on the game is fun and rewarding. If you're after a solid RPG and don't want anything serious this is definitely something I'd recommend to pass the time before FFIII, Zelda Phantom Hourglass and the new Pokemon games see a European release. While it's obviously aimed at kids (slightly educational, collection element, dinosaurs) this should please most RPG fans and shouldn't be dismissed from a 1 minute preview trailer

I'm not too far in, but I am really enjoying myself (although I seem to have got myself a little stuck at the moment).I generally don't play this type of game, I prefer puzzle games. However the subject appealed to me and I thought I'd risk it.I'm not too keen on the music, but then I tend to play without the sound on in any case.I'm sure that Pokemon and dinosaur fans will love this game.
