After reading about all the grief with the PC version, it makes a nice change just to drop this in the PSP slot and away you go. Ok, what's changed since 08? Firstly the 2D match engine, to be honest this does seem a bit 'so what'? and could quite easily do without, at times it is very slow, even on 'very fast' speed setting, but once you are into the game you hardly notice this, although frustratingly there isn't an option to switch the match engine off for some strange reason (2010 version perhaps?) and annoyingly whenever you switch to player ratings screen or any other of the options while the 2D match is active the game pauses, a minor annoyance, but surely one that could and should have been ironed out during testing. The new skin is much improved over the previous version (which always looked unfinished to me, pale and washed out blue and white?) and the game feels more 'complete'. This is still purely the best and most addictive game on PSP that you can pick up and play for 10 mins or 10 hours. (Won't get it on PC as I know it will take over my life, wife wouldn't be too keen on that). Highly recommended.

I think the first point to make is that this is for the PSP, so if you are looking for a very in-depth management game, or this is what you are used to on a PC, maybe it is not for you. For example you cannot alter the stadium, make decisions about the advertisements that appear on your teams shirts, and the action is reminiscent of Championship manager games of old as writing quickly flashes across the screen (with some 2D representation here and there). However, this somewhat makes it more enjoyable and addictive, as you feel as though you are truly and simply looking after a team. The season is not too long / drawn out between matches as you can progress into different jobs according to your performance, gaining management points along the way. When I say not in-depth, you can still search for players, look at their form, change tactics and discuss some points with the board...so key elements are there.Overall this is a very good management game to pass the time, without making you feel as though you have another "job" to do once you arrive home work.

I was expecting more. Dont get me wrong, its a great game - very addictive and perfect for the commute to work, but there is very little difference between this version and the previous version. I was expecting much more interaction between managers and players, I was expecting a half time team talk, I thought the conflicting information your assistant manager gave you would be fixed. I could go on. It seems like only the skins and personel were updated. My biggest gripe is the fact you STILL have to basically exit the entire game to replay a match. Why there isnt a option to load a previously saved game is beyond me. Still, this game is perfect for the PSP and I couldnt live without it.

the game itself is one of the most addictive games around- but apart from the 2d pitches (which is quite cool) it doesnt seem to be much different from the last version (s)...still worth a get if you like this sort of thing
