I've used the original opaque black splinter guard and this translucent version. The new type is MUCH better and it's easier to position the track to (pencil) cut marksI was bleating a bit about the price, but I could have paid much more for the same thing:

After cutting into mine after lending the saw to my friend..... i opted to buy new guards. the strip is very easy to fit and brings the product back up to the standard that i bought it. Great for replacing when doing a fine piece and accuracy is a must.

I don't understand why a strip of plastic with double sided tape on one side costs so much, but it does and this seemed to be the cheapest, so well done
